Try to uninstall "Wallpaper carrousel" or Something like that.
I think there is no icon for it but you can find it in the parameters/app manager.

3 years of everiday testing, researching and more testing.
Now do you realy think that i am going to tell you the details after all my work and time and not even with Word please?
Well, when I see a post like yours without any details I immediately assume you just disabled everything and used the phone as a live photo frame.
Which gives nice battery stats, but not realistic day to day use.
With my experience of modding Roms, I already know you made some sacrifices I'm not willing no make, but maybe, just maybe there's a battery hogging app service that I didn't notice and don't need.

You can assume whatever you want, but i can tell you that i use my phone perfectly normal as my daily driver. The only real sacrefice is airplane mode cca 14 hours/day, otherwise i do all the usual stuff with my phone (You tube, internet, phone calls and sms, apps, even Real racing 3,etc.
There are so many things in MIUI that you can optimize for better battery life and i use most (if not all) of them.
You can use your phone as a walpaper and disable everything, but without full optimization you will never reached my SOT and battery idle time.

Lol we don't need that info. I have a charger and after 11h SOT I will charge my phone. And i don't even need to optimize anything. Useless thread...

I'm on broken out revo 1.1, and I need to say that zv8 and the work mtmichaelson has put into this phone has not only saved it from disaster, but made it something to be fond of.
I didn't think this kind of battery life was possible, so thank you!
*note that this is on a stock battery and for 6hrs one night the phone was in airplane mode...

nice nice man i have the extended battery on mine and im looking at 13hrs 26mins and 46sec on my battery and im at 29% can i ask how you make yours last so long and how long do you play on it etc?
If you look closely at his status bar those black areas show huge amounts of time the phone was asleep. Still, impressive. I'm guessing he spends a lot of time on wifi and hasn't bumped up his min proc speed.
Also, +1 for Go SMS.

I actually keep wifi off most of the time, unless i'm at home. The wifi at work drops its signal a lot and forces my phone to constantly switch between wifi and LTE, so I usually just rely on LTE. I'm in Seattle, so my LTE coverage is very solid and consistent; I rarely see my phone dropping to a 3G network.
I thought I had bumped my minimum processor speed up to 245, but i guess i didn't make it stick, so I was running the 122.
And even though there was plenty of sleep time for the phone, it is still close to a 3x improvement over stock zv5 and zv7, as well as GingerVolt. On some of those rom's i'd be lucky if my phone made it 12 hrs on a good day without draining the battery.

what ROM are you on? that seems to have the greatest impact, because before ZV8 battery life was mostly terrible.
I would estimate my phone usage to be close to, if not slightly under, normal. No graphics heavy games, but normal text messages, emails, banking, calls, facebook, calendar, alarm...you get the idea.
well i have the extended battery but everything on my phone except my battery is stock ZV8 and everything else i would like to root it but im scared of losing everything
if you follow all the directions to a T, you shouldn't run into any problems. and the more you practice, the more comfortable you'll feel about working with your phone.
root and broken out ftw. it will make your phone worth having, because the stock that verizon puts on this is crap and will leave you frustrated.
If you can get all of your important documents/files onto your computer, just reload them...I erase everything from my phone on a fairly regular basis and really only keep what i absolutely need. that, and setting everything back up really isn't that difficult. its all part of the process and fun of having an android

I just rooted and had this happen. Lost everything off my SDcard too. I was sooooo Just wanted to cry. But my documents were on my computer so I was okay with that. Pics/Music too. But was more upset that I lost my app backup. It's a pain to download 92 apps and remember them all...
But it's worth it.

Go to the app store on your computer. All the apps you downloaded will be there and you can then re-download them.

I've used around 5 Android phones (starting from 2.1 now up to 4.3) and for some reason, they all have a pathetic standby time. When I say standby, I mean when you press the power button and it turns the screen off and you don't touch it. Why is android the only OS that has this problem? WP, fine. IOS, probably the best one (only good thing about it).
I've tried different kernels, using no apps from the play store at all, turning off Google's location service, using greenify, and a bunch more. My battery still drops to ~70% at 4:00 starting at 100 at 7:00. When I briefly had an iphone and windows phone, I always was amazed at how my battery was around ~90-95% at 4:00. I know most people actually USE their phone during the day, so its probably not as noticeable.
Does anyone know the real reason for this? By real, I mean the deep down reason for this. Is java just a hog?
I think the main reason is the backround apps that are running. I used my old sensation just as a phone and so I deleted all the apps from it (Facebook, Viber etc.) and the phone lasted 5-6 days on standby with a 1 year old batery. Before I removed those apps I couldnt get 2 days on standby. I think backgrounfd apps in Android are allowed more "freedom" so they use up the CPU while on standby. That is my experience and opinion.

Yeah I thought that, but I said I tried it with no apps installed. Same thing.
Weird, I don't experience that kind of massive stand by drain.
If I turn my screen off or let it time out, my phone can sit for a almost a couple of days before it shuts down - sometimes two full days. This was true with my Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3, and now the One.
So I have no clue what you're talking about, generalizing Android like that.
i disagree
My battery drains 1% every six hours

I'm generalizing Android because I was talking about "Stock" android. Not what we do here. I really have to find a fix for this. I dont know what I'm doing wrong here.
Mine also has great standby time...

I am talking about stock Android as well. I have had great battery life with my last three phones.
I've had no such problems with "android" in general. Some roms / apps yes. But after fixing those issues it was pretty much what would have been expected / what reviewers/other people get.
I would recommend getting something like gsam battery monitor and let it run at least a day and then post some screenshots. Maybe we can give some concrete advice then.

I'm very very happy to say that my very own HTC One is arriving today!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on it. I'm climbing the walls literally, much better size than the 5 invh dvtrrn. It's a 'prettier' design by far.
Any suggestions on what I should do firsrt? Perhapss some updates or upgrades?
All and any help is deeply appreciated
I would just spent time getting to know it before you start pulling it about, honestly this is the best out of the box mobile ive ever had, mine is still stock after nearly a year . The screen is awsome, terrific sound from the speakers, even blink feed is, in my opinion, a great fearure. The camera is ok probably the weakest feature on the phone but play arounds with it, but the Zoe feature is really awsome especially in combo with the video highlights. Get some NFC tags and play about with the NFC to.
Enjoy you One

Congrats, good choice! (Even you could have waited 8 more weeks for the new HTC One 2014).
Advices:
- unpack it and put it to charge (should be always started first time with full battery)
- start, follow instructions (you'll get there possibilities to import your old phones contacts, calendar, sms,...)
- Phone will come with Android 4.22 and sense 5.0, you'll get Upgrade notification (based on your location 4.3 or even already 4.42 each with Sense 5.5), do the upgrade! (Better performance, battery time, no more blinkfeed as homescreen)
- Make some pictures. Pictures have a violet/pink touch? Then you were lucky to pick up a unit with defective camera. Wrap up the device back and ask for another working one (probability is very low; but when the ONE was released almost every third or fourth customer had this problem)
- If your device is fine, just use it, explore the possibilities...
I get notifications on this thread, if you have questions just post them here and I'll try to answer them. Don't root too fast (HTC is in this point al little *****) and look if you can use the ONE without root and custom rom (I can, have my device since half a year and still completely stock; even launcher... Wasn't the point with any of my Samsung devices...)
Don't worry if your phone won't pass a whole day on one battery charge, it must first calibrate. The fourth charge or so you'll experience a much better battery performance
Sincerly

Before you do anything to the device, please read and make sure you understand what you are doing:angel:. If you gonna mod your phone then make a full nandroid backup before and make a copy to your computer:angel:. Also you should consider S-OFF you device if you are going to flash stuff, pretty much easier to back to stock with S-OFF if you screw something.:good:

BTW not true for newer devices like htc one. You can enjoy your device right out of the box, no need to wait until its fully charged.

This issue is caused by heating of the device so he will probably not be able to detect it ''out of the box'' imo.
strait out the box unlock it,, twrp it,,nandroid bk..up s.off ..supercid,,,,and then flash the hell out off it enjoy
Hello dear XDA friends, Although I don't post a lot I still love you all .
Anyway, I am really tempted to get a Mate S ($/€319) after my LG G3's screen basically broke in half, the battery exploded and the touchscreen only working 10%, it's basically useless right now and I need a phone to replace it for a while until I decide what's going to be my ''real'' phone (I hate Apple but the 7+ Camera is amazing but then again maybe note 7 refurbs will be cheap.) So yeah I need to bridge the gap and I want to gift it to a relative when I'm done with it.
So is it worth it for 300 bucks?
Hi,
I have the phone since 3 months now (rooted and latest rom version) and it is in overall very good but the battery. Screen is very great but although there are a good device manager, it doesn't stand a full day without reloading.
Also you can see from the different posts that this phone is not very popular among Android's cooks. So not a lot of answers and not a lot of tricks and tweaks. I regret the time I had a Nexus 4 where community was very active. Anyway, as I am really focused on battery life, this is the real flaw of this phone for me. But I guess there are not many phones that could do better.

What's the longest screen on time you got?
It actually depends what you gonna do with this phone.
I own it for last 8 months never really felt need for better battery during normal usage.
My typical usage with all the time brightness at auto and slider at max ( which on huawei even when inside usually means 80-90% brightness ) and outside always even when is dim day is 100% or boosted screen mode ends up with average 4:30-5h SOT with around 18-20hrs on battery. This is with about 60% wifi 40% 3g.
This includes bunch of social apps, youtube , music, calls, sms, light gaming of around 1hr per day.
The great thing about this phone is its soc and screen, the to S-amoled it never gets hot thus for it doesn't drain battery life fast like snapdragon devices.
Biggest fall of this soc is its GPU it isn't as good for heavy games like s810 devices for example.
If you're not a gamer I highly suggest this phone. If you have more money I suggest p9+, its a beast in all regards.
Here my current battery life stats

As you can see, I charged my phone and unplugged at 00.14. Wi-Fi off and no mobile data, no screen on. No apps running apart from home launcher and myProfile. All others are greenified. So in around 8h sleep it decreased by 20%.
I tried many tricks and I consider myself skilful for this (my LG G2 could last 3 days) but cannot do better with this one. The ROM is not good enough yet and update frequency is not good.
Got the LG G4 so this one can be closed

Wallpapers have been around forever, in smartphone terms. There are two tribes to the species: Static and Live wallpapers. The static ones don't do much besides simply being aesthetically pleasing. Live Wallpapers on the other hand tend to be busy continuously running animation loop to entertain–or perhaps distract–the phone owner.
I felt that something was missing here with choices available, hence Why I developed this concept of a Wake-Animation wallpaper.
The idea in a nutshell is to have something greeting you everytime you unlock your phone–think of a dog eager to show 'I am your friend, here at your service! –yet won't distract with continuous animation loop.
To built my first WAW I used original art by Stephen Najarian, a talented illustrator working in the Fantasy genre.
The way the app works is: you would set it to both Lockscreen and Homescreen in Settings->Live Wallpapers. When the phone is Locked, you will see lockscreen image that may appear like a puzzle with some ambiguity to interpretation. Once the phone gets unlocked though, the wake animation starts playing, and the pieces to the puzzle fall in place, finally revealing an image from Najarian's series. This short story visually unfolds in under a second, while your Launcher dishes out the icons.
For illustration, here the Locksceen on the left shows fragment of a beast up-close, which may not be that obvious at a first glance.
As you unlock the phone and beast comes to life shooting lightnings all over, it becomes clear this is another one of Najarian dragons awakening.
The Wallpaper app available in Beta at GooglePlay Beta download link
Feedback and suggestions very welcome.
Edit: See this video illustrating the concept:

There should not be an issue with battery consumption, as most animations are under 1sec long. Besides, I am working on a Settings screen now, where you would be able to set how often the Unlock animation will play : once an hour, once a day, every few mins and so on. Stay tuned, another test version comes out in few weeks with this, and screen adjusted for big-screen form factor
Folks this is a preview vid of what's coming

Not sure exactly what you mean by "while I swipe", more detail would help pin it. Since it's not a continuous animation, I am not sure where exactly a lag could happen.
Thanks!
If you are not concerned about the battery life, I would suggest you add a live theme and the wallpapers, It will be really fascinating.
Do you see it just playing in a loop or..?
not sure I understand the "live theme" thing, mind pointing to some examples? thx

Agree with you, I tried and battery drain was not so bad
Exactly how you see a live theme here?
point any example please
Very beautiful live screens, I would gladly install them on my phone, but unfortunately my device is too old and the battery will be drain quickly...
It's not a live paper, shouldn't drain battery
Animation is less than a sec
You can play it just once a day
Set animation frequency in Settings: once an Hr, a day and more options
