I'm facing issue with my Rog 2, my phone is not charging fast
1. I'm using 18w charger come with the phone to charge
2. I have used Xiaomi 2i power bank with 18w output to charge my phone (still not working)
3. I restart the phone on charging it goes down 36% to 29%
4. On charging when i restart the phone it goes 8% to 13%
5. I'm facing this problem from the yesterday
6. Double plus sign on battery icon as well as fast charging text on home screen is also not showing while charging
What is the issue please help anyone
Though I may be wrong, I think you need the 30W charger for that. 6,000mAh battery is quite a handful and 18W may not juice it up as fast as you want.

Well, there is obviously a problem.
There are battery apps that can monitor incoming charge though not as effective as the hardware for monitoring charge but it'll give you a fair idea if you check it out.
I think you should reach out to Asus for solutions if possible, a replacement unit.
All the best.
Bro i have another serious problem. Accidentally my phone got dropped and the volume rockers get damaged. And asus won't cover it on warrenty

Wow! That's too low.
As you can see from my attached screenshots on a Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
Let's get someone with a properly charging phone to give us her/his values so we can see the charge levels of a proper 18W or 30W charger

Are you Ok Now?
I am facing this problem. This is rom problem?
FYI you can check the arrows in the battery icon when charging. 2 arrows means full speed - I guess -
Don't know if that's helps, I heard once that if charging percentage jumps in blink of an eye, then it's probably its need to collaborate battery mah with phone and it's done by dischargng your device by using it tell the phone goes to 0 and shut down it selfs , then charge it to 100% fully ..
Another app to see how fast your device being charged it's : accubattery , this is so far best option , but this app for analysis not for always use because it's consume battery like all other app

hi guys / girls,
i have had my zuk z2 pro (z2121) 6gb / 128gb for about a year now and i am really satisfied with the phone overall.
Despite my satisfaction i now have a big issue: it will not charge ! :crying::crying:
What i have done:
i was on android 7 in AEX rom, now i am on android 8 in AEX 5.4 for about 2 weeks now.
i had to install the latest radio version to get my phone back running since i had problems after flashing (no sensors worked at all).
now: the phone was at around 8 % battery last night when i plugged in the charger.. it didn't show "charging slowly" on the lockscreen, what i found a bit weird.
this morning the phone was dead and the battery was empty. i have booted up in fastboot mode or recovery (i'm not sure, but not twrp) and connected the charger again, now it was charging !! at 0,42 amperes approximately. so not much but at least it was charging.
unpatience as i am i tried to boot after about 1,5 - 2 hours to see what the battery had done in this time.... android shows 15 % ... i plugged in the charger again and :crying::crying: again no charging.
android does show the lightning symbol, but there is no power consumption measured from the charger.
what could this be ?
i have tried 3 chargers, 3 different cables (1 new) so i suppose that cannot be the source of my misery.
what i find the most weird is that there is power consumption from the charger when the fastboot menu shows up... after there was 15% in the battery i don't get that either :crying::crying:
anyone here to help ??? please.. i have allready contacted 2 repair firms nearby but both of them are a bit scared by the fact that it;s a chinese phone and they cannot give warranty on a new battery.
thanks to mar.ur here on the forum (he helped me before, the good man) i have got the solution.
As i had been reading on more forums, there are more users having the likewise problem, this is (for now at least) the solution:
Go to twrp / advanced / file manager / data / system and delete battery stats
in my phone i had 3 files, i deleted them all.
next tip from mar.ur was to charge to 100% and use till about 5% before charging. that might have something to do with creating new battery stats i suppose
thanks again mariusz

yeah, but it should be charge faster. ~ 2 amps with correct cable and charger. 420mA is a bit low... how did u figure that out? Did u measure?
I have the same problem of charging at 420mah at most. The phone used to charge at 2amps with same cable and charger. Same cable and charger charges my other phone at 1.1amp, which is its max. Did you find a solution for this?

Same here, only charging at 0.42A only with some selected, older chargers. Using some more modern chargers with more Ampere does not work. Charging symbol in the taskbar, but not charging. Measuring with an USB voltage meter it just says 0A and Voltage is at 5.12v on modern chargers. Strangely it chargered in an rented citröen c3 with 1.5A when I was in holidays.
QC only worked for the first two months when I got the phone.
Tried deleting battery stats, but still no QC or charging with more than 420mA.
Look in the charge port for dust/lint/etc. and carefully blow/pick out any see.
What does happen when you connect your phone with PC ? Does it still charging 420 mA ? Sync data works good ? How long does it take to get full baterry from almost empty ?
Is it normal behavior that supercharge "slows down" as it gets closer to full charge?
I am asking because i have noticed that my 1 month old P20 Pro charges slower even though it displays "supercharging" on the display? Maybe i am imagining things, because the battery was at 89% when i plugged it in.
I have used Ampere to monitor the charging current ant it stayed around 750mA during most of the charge and dropped to 450mA at the end.

As far as I know, the low battery power of mobile phones is usually due to the fast charging speed. When the charging rate reaches more than 80%, the battery power is close to the full. In order to ensure the safety of use and extend the battery life, when the battery is rapidly charged, the charging current output by the charger will gradually decrease and the charging speed will slow down until it is fully charged. This feeling is normal for you. How long does it take you to charge from 0% to 100%?
Yes - This is generally a safety measure for the battery.
How long does it take from 0% to 50% and as far as I am aware it slows down from 60%
Thanks for your replies bobo and mulkman.
It is reassuring that my device is ok and (hopefully) I am only imagining things
I haven't had the chance to charge from <50% to 100% but I will leave the phone to go below 50% over the next few days and charge it up to 100% and post the result.
Finally my phone discharged enough so i could do some charging.
Started at 44%
Total charge time 66 minutes to 100%.
Supercharge indicated 100% of time.
Meassured approx. every 10 mins (6 time points)

Everything was on, but the phone was on WiFi. Temperature of the battery did increase to 32 degrees centigrade (checked in Ampere). The phone is in a original Huawei smart case, which may increase the temperature.
It's probably about right. It slows down at the top. Attaching a couple of charging sessions for comparison. You can see that the percentage per minute decreases when the battery reaches the higher levels of charge. At the rate of the first picture/occasion it would charge the battery in half an hour. But that's not the case since it slows down a lot.

Good to hear.
Is your phone in one of those TPU case and if so remove it before charging your device.
The charging speed is dependent on the current battery temp so it may throttle if your device gets too hot

Yes most definitely.
Have you ever noticed that the phone gets warm during the first 0-70% of its charging cycle.
Towards the end the phone enters trickle charge mode to protect the battery

I haven't noticed before. I usually have my phone on the table while charging and i dont pick it up. But when monitoring with Ampere I noticed that the temperature went up.
Limiting the battery charge to a fraction (70%-80%) of it's full capacity is a well known way to greatly extend the battery's charge capacity lifetime. There are several (root) apps created to automate this, that stop the phone from charging once a selected charge level is reached. Battery Charge Limit is one (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-battery-charge-limit-t3557002), ACCA is another (https://github.com/MatteCarra/AccA/). So far I have not been successful getting either of those to work with the ROG2. I was wondering if anybody has had any success with those apps or any other way to limit the battery charge on the ROG2?
The Rog phone 2 has its own function that lets you automatically stop charging.
But keep in mind this function is only useful if you are planing to keep the phone connected to a charger 24/7 then it's useful. Otherwise it's worthless if you disconnect your phone once it's 100% charged.
Battery also needs to discharge and recharge to keep it's capacity and function going. If you don't do this it can wear the battery out even if you stop charging at 70-80%.

Most of what you said is wrong.
The ASUS Power Master Battery Care feature slows and delays the charging but still charges to 100%. The feature is only useful if you have a regular charge schedule (which I don't, and DO mostly leave the phone on the charger) and even then, it's still charging to 100%. Repeatably charging a LiPo battery to 100% WILL decrease it's capacity significantly faster than if only partially charged. All phones already slow charging at high charge levels. There is no advantage to discharging the battery.
Read and learn: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
If you can reference any authority to support your position, I'd love to see it.

Did you ever know that even authority can be wrong in facts as well? I can confirm that battery feels alot better with discharge and charge than what it is with 100% all time or 70-80%.
How I can confirm is that I have a Microsoft surface Pro 4 and when I kept it on charger at 100% for a day or two the wear level jumped from 0% to 3% but when I discharged it and recharged it after some time then tear level on battery went back to 0% and capacity was back to its full capacity again. So discharge and recharge does not always wear the battery out. It actually makes battery feel better too.
So please don't always believe what internet and what authority States. Since on internet there is alot of false facts and authority gives alot of nonsense facts alot of times too.
Is it really wise to basically degrade your battery by 20% out of the box just so you can have 95% in 2 years? If anything, heat is the greatest factor for degradation. If you're that worried, just use a 2 Amp charger.

Yes, heat is a factor, but keeping the battery at 100% will degrade the battery faster regardless. If you simply do not need the additional 20% than there is no advantage to charging to 100%. My usage scenario is that the phone is plugged in a lot of the time and I very rarely need the full battery capacity. I've had several phone batteries bloat up under this scenario (and not using any fast charging).
When batteries degrade they don't stop at 80%. They generally keep degrading fairly rapidly. And you don't just lose capacity, as the battery degrades the internal resistance increases, which results in throttling and/or crashing.
BTW on some phones, ACCA will stop charging the battery when it reaches the desired charge level and run the phone entirely from external power.

Agreed. If manufacturers still offered replaceable batteries in their flagships, this would be somewhat of a moot point. When dealing with a sealed battery that is expensive and time consuming to replace, it's wise to do everything reasonable to protect the overall lifespan of it.
As for keeping it charged at 100%, I did that once and killed a battery in about 6 months. Not doing that one again.
Guys, it's so nice you are debating over the battery charging metaphysics but it does not help us solve the issue: our rooted phone can not be charged in a smart way using magisk+acc, ACCA or Battery Charge Limit.
Any ideas?

Submit a bug report to acca and maybe at least someone starts caring for the ROG Phone. The reason why it doesnt work is simply because ASUS does its own stupid thing while charging (thats what happens when 100 OEMs cook their own soup, a mess).
About the battery health:
A battery keeps its best health when its charged between 25-75%, is kept below 30°C and charged as slow as possible. Thats why its wise to stop charging at 80% with a slow charger, especially when you have a big battery anyway that lasts for a day with 80% charge.

There is no programmatic way to internally control the charging process without root, however there are some (not as good) alternatives.
First there is an app Accubattery that will give you a notification when the battery reaches a given level, you have to then disconnect the charger manually.
A second way to do this would be to use a smart plug and control it with Tasker. Don't know if anyone has done this but it should be possible.
Another possibility that is not vailable yet would be a kickstarter project called BatteryPal. This is a charging cable that had a bluetooth interface built in to it that would control charging using an app on the phone. They arr saying it will be available March 2020, but who knows.
I'm facing the same situation here. I'm next to a charger most of the time, so I like to use slow charging and not going above 80%. I was used to have battery charge limit installed in all my devices, but found this is not working with the rog phone.
My rog Phone 2 global edition over heats while charging
has anyone found a way even with root? I've tried ACC and some other app but they all done work.
I've also just tried ACC and Battery Charge Limit, but neither worked. It looks like there is something that keeps overwriting the charge control file all the time and allows the battery to charge anyway. Battery Care was disabled while doing this.
I am rooted, so I am able to test any potential solution.
Someone posted on r/rogphone2 a solution for this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGphone2/comments/ev0put/hows_this_it_never_reaches_100/
I've just tested it and it works for me.

Hi...
For a while now I've had a problem with my Note 9 only displaying that it is regular charging when plugged into my fast charger plug and cable. I tried a numbr of troubleshooting steps from restarting, cleaning the port, trying safe mode, buying replacement fast charger and cable, factory settings, rooting but it still only showed as cable charging so I became convinced it was a physical problem with the port. Wireless fast charging continues to work as it should.
I recently installed AccuBattery and when plugged into my fast charger/cable, the charge current completely fills the the green bar to between 1800-2000 mA so now I'm beginning to wonder whether fast charging is working ok, but the phone is reporting it incorrectly.
Does anyone else know what kind of charge current the Note 9 should have when cable fast charging please? Also, just out of curiosity, what should it be when wirelessly fast charging too please?
Thanks for any help...

I started charging at 25%. With screen on I got 2700mah.
I left my phone off for 15 mins and stayed at that 2700mah average.
When I turned my phone screen on, I had 45% but screen on charge dropped to 1000mah.
If you look at the bottom of my screenshot, it explains why you need to turn your screen off to get accurate fast charge Numbers. Your phone might throttle the screen on charge if a certain criteria is met.
Once again. Did you enable it in the settings?

Hmmm the numbers you get do seem to suggest there is an issue with my phone. The screen off speeds are around the same as screen on.
Samsung quoted about £10,000,000 to repair as it's rooted and they have to replace the entire board to satisfy their warranty terms.
May have a go at replacing the charging port myself.

Thanks again :good:

I don't use fast charging, ever. So that's probably why my port still works. I have gotten so much dirt in it and cleaned it out it isn't even funny. So I'm less 6 to believe that fast charging is what ruins the port not debris.
A lot of people who use fast charging have the same issue as you-,it burns out the port.
Honestly, my advice is to love with fast charging over wireless and not spend a billion dollars replacing the port. Wait until it's time to replace the battery in a year or two and do it then. Fast charging over cable only saves you 30-40 minutes. I can charge and do charge my phone normally and it only takes around an hour and 40 minutes.
Ive purchased a Galaxy S20FE (Exynos) version 4days ago. I also purchased a 25W Samsung fast charger. I am getting slow charging speeds. When mobile was on and idle it took 2hrs 10 min to fully charge. (My mobile data and GPS was off). When mobile was off it took 1hr10min to go from 20 percent to 100 percent. Can anyone tell what's the problem?
I am from Delhi. I use two sim cards. I have not rooted or installed any big games.

There is a fast charging option you need to enable in the settings.

Yes, it was enabled.
install Ampere and check your mA during charging. I get roughly 1700 to 1800mA on the standard charger with fast charging turn off.

Just for comparison: When my S20 FE 5G is on it took 1h17m to charge from 20 to 100% using bundled 15W charger and cable.

Thank you for advice. I checked mine and found that:
15W charger gives constant 1500-1600mA
25W charger gives max current of 3700mA for a few minutes and then drops down to 1800mA or even 1000mA.
Is it faulty?

It's dropping out of fast charging.
Excessive low or high battery temperature.
Between 40-65% it should charge at about 2% @minute if temp is above 60F and below 100F.
At about 80% it should drop out of fast charging to protect the battery.
You need an approved fast charger brick (minimum 25w) and cable. Make sure cable plug is fully inserted into the brick.
A failing battery will cause erratic fast charging; replace battery if any signs of case swelling are present! Check for this... been there, done that

It wouldn't have fast charged at all if not enabled; 3500ma draw indicates it is enabled.
You can try toggling that toogle 3 times on/off while not charging. Sometimes this helps.
Try a known good (new) Samsung 25 w brick and cable.
Clear system cache.
Try a hard reboot (simulates pulling battery)
Make sure the C port contacts are clean.
A factory reset will most likely do nothing except waste your time.
If none of the above suggestions work it's a strong possibility you have a bad C port charging pcb or... a failing battery.
Any case swelling means replace the battery asap☠
A nominal fast charge profile; Note 10+ with a new battery on a Samsung 25 watt brick.
Starting battery temp was 70°F
Start 48% 4895 ma
65% 4100 ma
70% 3700 ma
The current draw can fluctuate as the charge increases depending on various parameters like temperature. Generally the draw is stronger at deeper discharge levels then tapers off as it approaches a 80% charge state. At 90% or so it will be around 800ma. At 100% the draw is 0ma.
I was thinking the phone and charger have to communicate for the charger to know the phones preference of current draw, the 3700mA dropping down could indicate that setting being received and adjusted to.

With a 3700 ma draw fast charging is engaged.
Erratic fast charging is a strong indicator of a battery failure especially if it's capacity has noticeably decreased.
I watched this type of behavior for about 2 months. It started suddenly.
I was fortunate the swelling battery didn't damage my display or worse. It sits right against the display and it's thousands of mosfets and OLEDs. That matrix is delicate...

My device is 20 days old. It's battery capacity is 4370mAh (It should be 4500mAh). I am confused if battery is faulty or charger. Can you tell any app to check if battery is faulty?
your battery capacity is the exact same as mine.

If you're using the Samsung fast charging brick/cable return the phone now if you still can.
No reason to deal with a factory defect with a new phone. Better safe than pi$$ed
That reported battery capacity is within normal parameters for a new battery.
No app can tell if the battery is failing other than poor capacity. Any rear panel or display bulging is a dead giveaway sign of battery failure.
Note, what Android reports as battery capacity can't be trusted It's dumb as rain.

it could be either the phone or the charger that has a problem, it's possible that it is more the 25watt charger if the 15 watt charger works as intended. I'd get both looked at, you want to be sure after the money you've spent.
I have baught this 25W Charger for my s20 fe. But, whenever I try to charge with this after several minutes of charging charger gets disconnected and reconnects within seconds itself and it continues. There is no such issue with original 15W charger. My phone is rooted & custom recovery installed.
Is it software issue or hardware issue? Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about that device but always start by using the OEM fast charger and cable.
Replace OEM charger/cable with same if not fast charging only -then- look for other causes.
A defective battery will also cause erratic fast charging. Any signs of case bulging indicates a battery failure and needs to be addressed asap.

Fortunately it didn't damage my display. The battery sits right on top of the AMOLED displays (with its thousands of mosfets and delicate matrixs) in most phones.
