problems with charging zuk z2 pro - Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro Questions & Answers

hi guys / girls,
i have had my zuk z2 pro (z2121) 6gb / 128gb for about a year now and i am really satisfied with the phone overall.
Despite my satisfaction i now have a big issue: it will not charge ! :crying::crying:
What i have done:
i was on android 7 in AEX rom, now i am on android 8 in AEX 5.4 for about 2 weeks now.
i had to install the latest radio version to get my phone back running since i had problems after flashing (no sensors worked at all).
now: the phone was at around 8 % battery last night when i plugged in the charger.. it didn't show "charging slowly" on the lockscreen, what i found a bit weird.
this morning the phone was dead and the battery was empty. i have booted up in fastboot mode or recovery (i'm not sure, but not twrp) and connected the charger again, now it was charging !! at 0,42 amperes approximately. so not much but at least it was charging.
unpatience as i am i tried to boot after about 1,5 - 2 hours to see what the battery had done in this time.... android shows 15 % ... i plugged in the charger again and :crying::crying: again no charging.
android does show the lightning symbol, but there is no power consumption measured from the charger.
what could this be ?
i have tried 3 chargers, 3 different cables (1 new) so i suppose that cannot be the source of my misery.
what i find the most weird is that there is power consumption from the charger when the fastboot menu shows up... after there was 15% in the battery i don't get that either :crying::crying:
anyone here to help ??? please.. i have allready contacted 2 repair firms nearby but both of them are a bit scared by the fact that it;s a chinese phone and they cannot give warranty on a new battery.

thanks to mar.ur here on the forum (he helped me before, the good man) i have got the solution.
As i had been reading on more forums, there are more users having the likewise problem, this is (for now at least) the solution:
Go to twrp / advanced / file manager / data / system and delete battery stats
in my phone i had 3 files, i deleted them all.
next tip from mar.ur was to charge to 100% and use till about 5% before charging. that might have something to do with creating new battery stats i suppose
thanks again mariusz

yeah, but it should be charge faster. ~ 2 amps with correct cable and charger. 420mA is a bit low... how did u figure that out? Did u measure?

I have the same problem of charging at 420mah at most. The phone used to charge at 2amps with same cable and charger. Same cable and charger charges my other phone at 1.1amp, which is its max. Did you find a solution for this?

See above...

Same here, only charging at 0.42A only with some selected, older chargers. Using some more modern chargers with more Ampere does not work. Charging symbol in the taskbar, but not charging. Measuring with an USB voltage meter it just says 0A and Voltage is at 5.12v on modern chargers. Strangely it chargered in an rented citröen c3 with 1.5A when I was in holidays.
QC only worked for the first two months when I got the phone.
Tried deleting battery stats, but still no QC or charging with more than 420mA.

Look in the charge port for dust/lint/etc. and carefully blow/pick out any see.
What does happen when you connect your phone with PC ? Does it still charging 420 mA ? Sync data works good ? How long does it take to get full baterry from almost empty ?

Battery problem

Hey guys.I just got my Xperia X1 and I noticed that even if I charged my phone to 100% after I unplug the cable (I use my USB cable to charge it) that battery meter goes to 95% the second I unplug it.If I send a text or two it will go lower.By the end of the day it will be around 50-60% left.I tried looking for a fix about that but nothing came up.
Is that a common problem for the X1?BTW the phone is brand new and the battery is the original one that came with the phone.
Thank you in advance
First I think you must charge your (new?) battery at least ten times to get full capacity. Secondly I think I remember there's a way to calibrate the battery. Look in settings or even better the manual or perhaps best, search the forums.
GL,A.D
Thank you for your answer.I checked the forum but not much came up about recalibration.I checked the phones settings and I can't find anything about batery calibration
are you on a stock rom or a custom one?
also if you leave your xperia plugged in once it reaches 100% i believe it simply stops charging, so the moment you unplug it you "real" battery percentage!
No I am using a custom ROM.I always unpluged the phone when it says full next to the battery metter.
thats why I don't like charging via USB - it's unreliable and slow, always was
if someone knows how to solve that with a recalibration pls tell
I think its a problem of usb charging. I get this problem when I charge my phone with usb. I havent had this problem on charger. Maybe you usb is a bit lower voltage, so the battery isnt fully charged, but its not charging anymore so the percentage is set to 100% and rapidly decreases after short usage.
I think if you use a charger and do charge your batter a few times full with charger, the memory effect should go away.
Just correcting lpgsk, it's not the voltage, but the electric current of the USB. If I'm not wrong the charger has a 500mA current.
charger output 700mA @ 5v
My suggestion is, if you have to charge it on USB, you should charge it when its off. The charging current should he higher since part of the energy wont be used to keep mobile standby. Therefor it should be able to get more power to battery.
2nd option, buy USB mini Y-cable. It is 1 miniUSB -> 2 USB cable. So you put the other end to 2 USB slots for more power.
like this:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-A-Male-to-Mini-5-Pin-Y-Cable-for-external-hard-Disk_W0QQitemZ330414581897QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_USB_Cables?hash=item4cee3e6889
this could help, but no waranty it would

It must have been my memory who failed me this time. I can't find any way to calibrate battery either. Sorry for that!
Saw that you're running on a custom rom so I guess the phone is not brand new. Question raised is, how old is the battery?
Searched Ebay for whatever to my x2 and found the batteries (same in X1/X2) damn cheap (fakes or not). Why not buy a new battery and test?

Hey there. The phone was brand new when I got it.It came with the standard WM 6.5 I just installed a new ROM.I tried charging via the wall charger and it seems that the battery lasts WAY longer then charging throw the USB cable.
Thanks a lot guys
PS:One thing (has nothing to do with the battery but I don't want a new thread for that). All my received text messages are with a different time then my phone.I would say around 3-5 hours difference.I searched online and I found more people with this problem but I cannot find a fix for it.Any suggestions?
Thanks again to all of you that answered

[Q] 0% Battery + no charge

Hi all
This is my first thread - although I have been on xda many many years. I have searched the forums before posting this.
This morning whilst travelling to work by car I decided to recharge my Note (which was at 0% due to the previous day of use). I unplugged my Galaxy S2 and plugged the charger into the Note.
The Note would not take any charge from this USB car charger.
Now I know that the charger outputs 1000mA and that it was pumping 750mA into the S2 literally moments before.
I had started to think that the Note was bricked as the low battery and a yellow triangle were the only thing that the display would show, however, I could force the device to boot into Recovery mode (Redpill says the batt % in the corner - it stayed at 0%).
I tried a battery pull. I tried getting the device to reboot system from Recovery and I also tried wiping the battery stats.
The only fix I found was when I plugged it into a 1000mA AC charger.
Has anybody else had this problem? It could be quite an inconvenience if one were to run out of juice (ie 0%) whilst on the move, expecting to be able to charge from the car usb charger...
Moved To Q&A
Please post all questions in the Q&A section
Use Original charger and charge for 1 hour. do not try to turn it on. then try to turn ON.
if this doesn't work. try with different Note battery.
Hi. I got it to work eventually using an AC charger but my point was - has anybody else experienced this inability to recharge when at 0% and with only a USB charger or car charger available.
Samsungs recognise when they are plugged into AC Mains or USB don't they. Could there bee something in this that we may have to tweak, within a script during boot?
Sent from my GT-N7000
I hve this problem! Is it because I'm using non genuine chargers / cables?
I think it may be something to do with the juice it requires to get the initial kick from 0%... perhaps it will only take charge from AC in these .
Sent from my GT-N7000
I got this when i flowed all juice to 0%. I've used only genuine wall adapter / charger and got that triangle + ! too.. I just let it be that way and fired up Note few mins after that. Then it started to charge..

Yes, other users have faced this issue. It is not uncommon and has been in various posts over the last few months. As mentioned - use original charger and leave phone turned off for an hour or so - this will kick start it.
I had same problem with Blackberry bold - once below 5% would not charge unless I turned screen off and waited for at least 30 minutes.
I know this sounds all very well in hindsight, but I never let my phone drop below 20% - always charge it around that time. I still get around 2 days on average use but refuse to let it go any lower than that.
Would also recommend purchasing a second battery in case - with a separate charger.
Hope that helps - you are not alone
another one in the club......
i never let the battery go below 10%
below 10% my hands start shaking and my transpiration raise
at 5% i got defects to my view and i cant speack properly
below 5% my body becomes cold and covered by psoriasis.....

New Samsung battery not charging up

Hi,
I received the ordered product couple of days back - New Samsung Battery EB575152LU for Galaxy S SL Plus i9001
I did plugged my cellphone to wall charger straight for more than 8 hours. Firstly, it could charge only to 60%+. I did a quick google to land upon a method of charging and discharging the new battery to extreme limits. I practiced. Unfortunately, it has been more than two days now. The battery is taking more than 10 hours to charge.
Problems -
The battery takes more than 10 hours to charge to 60%+
It doesn't charge beyond 70%+. The phone is shutdown and charging takes place again from 0%.
This is quite frustrating considering it's very new battery I had ordered. I have already tried different chargers and USB cables. All in vain. I have read numerous threads and posts, and did like it all said. None of them has helped me.
Please help me.

not sure if this will work as it could be a faulty battery, but have you tried clearing battery states from cwm recovery
Battery won't charge beyond 0%
People,
I have tried the new charger and new battery. The phone is not charging beyond 0%. The area around the Camera gets damn hot. Might it be a ROM issue? A bug or something?
I used to run Slimbean very smooth, until I faced this problem.
I researched a lot, and I have tried many things. But this frustrating problem still persists.
I hate to restore the phone to stock ROM.
If it's a hardware failure, how can I be sure of it?
Need urgent help.
Clarification

Battery drawing less current
Hello,
I have bought a new battery. I tried changing chargers and wires. However, I installed a widget and got to know my battery draws only 233ma current from the mains as well as USB charging.
Is it the normal stats considering genuine charger comes with 0.7~1 A O/P ? I believe this is definitely less than the normal current flow.
How could I reinstate the normal flow?
Is there a way to reconfigure the circuit as pointed out in above reply?
Could please point out the hardware failure? How can I be certain of it?
Please help. I'm in deep need of it.
Symptoms:
Area near the camera gets damn hot. (Temp: 70~80 deg cel)
Battery does show progressive charging. It takes more than 15 mins to increase the charge by 1%. This is definitely due to low current flowing.
Above of all, this is degrading my battery life. Thanks in advance

Battery 100% On, 80% Off

phone says 100% but says 80% when off charging
Tried:-
1. 2 different battery callibration apps
2. charging 100%, depleting battery. repeated process a couple of times
3. Switched to Stock (Rooted), 2 Custom ROMs (Waited till it was 100% on both on and off before flashing)
Notes:-
1. Battery seems perfectly fine (takes a while before depleting and doesnt deplete before 0%)
Currently using stock rooted
l would start with replacing the cable and charger to make sure you are getting a full charge. Then monitor the usage time on your phone over a few weeks and see if the time to empty is getting less that is a sure sign of a bad battery
Recheck with another fast charger. Generally, we cannot say if is a faulty cable or you have an faulty adapter. I hope the device chargeboard is not shot/motherboard driven related issue. Also, have you recovered the device using Samsung Kies- Emergency firmware recovery?

With original charger it takes 6hrs!!! Holy ****
I think its a usb port problem for sure.. Do one thing while connected to the charger go to device maintenance and open battery menu and see if it say charging via AC or USB if while us8ng the original charger it shows Chaging via USB then certainly its the port that has gone faulty..
Hit thanks if helped
Hello everyone! Though its not the right place to ask the question but I have been seeking solution to my problem from months. Long time before, my Galaxy Note II started to behave differently. Whenever I charged it completely, the phone worked normally till 75% to 80% and all of sudden a =low battery warning indication appears and phone proceeds to shut down. I tried changing ROM and calibrating the battery again but nothing worked. Finally I replaced the battery with a new one and also clean flashed another ROM in a hope to see if the problem is gone or still there. But to my surprise the problem is still intact. Now, when I turn on the phone the battery is 90% and when I keep using it, it drains normally, but as soon it reaches round about 80%, it turns off randomly. When I turn the phone back on the battery is still at the same percentage level at which is turns off. I believe there is not an issue with the battery. Please help me what to do, I am using TWRP recovery that doesn't gives the battery stats wipe option too. Should I flash a new ROM again? I would greatly appreciate if someone please helps me in sorting this problem.
What I have already done!
1. Replaced the battery
2. Changed the ROM
3. Re-calibrated the battery

I have noticed the same issue, I think. I suspect it is a general bug.
Guys, try charging your phone while in Android. When it reads 100%, switch off your device. Either leave the charge cable attached or reattach it after you have switched off. Now wait for the off-line charging icon to appear. Unless I'm mistaken, the percentage won't correspond with whatever your phone reports while your in Android. If Android says 100%, this will be a lower number. And off-line charging will keep on charging until you reach 100%.

Sorry for the late response. Internet finished, had to wait until the renewal date. During this time, i wiped the rom and re-installed it (Khongloi V11). Since there was no internet, i didnt sign in any accounts, Switched off the location. The phone surprisingly took 3 days before reaching 0.
Indeed, it says USB Charging 6hrs. I sometimes keep plugging and unplugging, it changes to A/C 2hrs.
I have this problem too. But I change batt_capacity_max to 1000, phone on 100% phone off 100%. If we recharge to full it will return to the same state (phone on 100, phone off ~80) so i need to change again. I don't know if this destroy my battery life ? I don't know why. I thought I'm the only 1 who have this problem? (sorry for my bad english)
I think this may be a software/firmware problem, not a problem with the battery.

I figured that was the problem but i tried it with three different roms (Khongloi V11, Final, Stock).
Maybe it's some kind of battery protection thing created when your battery is old or something?

The various ROMs may all use the same battery raportage code, which doesn't account for this discrepancy. After all, most ROMs are just fancy reskins of stock Android.
That said, maybe Samsung support can shed some light on what's going on.
On a side note? Is there anyone who reads this thread, whose reported battery charge (in percentages) is the same in Android as when the device is switched off and charging?
So... any solutions?

charging problem

I'm facing issue with my Rog 2, my phone is not charging fast
1. I'm using 18w charger come with the phone to charge
2. I have used Xiaomi 2i power bank with 18w output to charge my phone (still not working)
3. I restart the phone on charging it goes down 36% to 29%
4. On charging when i restart the phone it goes 8% to 13%
5. I'm facing this problem from the yesterday
6. Double plus sign on battery icon as well as fast charging text on home screen is also not showing while charging
What is the issue please help anyone
Though I may be wrong, I think you need the 30W charger for that. 6,000mAh battery is quite a handful and 18W may not juice it up as fast as you want.

Well, there is obviously a problem.
There are battery apps that can monitor incoming charge though not as effective as the hardware for monitoring charge but it'll give you a fair idea if you check it out.
I think you should reach out to Asus for solutions if possible, a replacement unit.
All the best.

Wow! That's too low.
As you can see from my attached screenshots on a Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
Let's get someone with a properly charging phone to give us her/his values so we can see the charge levels of a proper 18W or 30W charger

I am facing this problem. This is rom problem?
FYI you can check the arrows in the battery icon when charging. 2 arrows means full speed - I guess -
Don't know if that's helps, I heard once that if charging percentage jumps in blink of an eye, then it's probably its need to collaborate battery mah with phone and it's done by dischargng your device by using it tell the phone goes to 0 and shut down it selfs , then charge it to 100% fully ..
Another app to see how fast your device being charged it's : accubattery , this is so far best option , but this app for analysis not for always use because it's consume battery like all other app
