RE-LOCK BOOTLOADER Asus ROG Phone II - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Hi, I'd like to re-lock the bootloader. I have performed all the steps to convert from CN to WW (also the fingerprint and themes). From the RAW flash 1908.21 I updated manually to 1910.35 and everything is fine. Can I re-lock the bootloader or should I do it immediately after the RAW flash? Because in the guide here on xda he says: ''
Relocking Bootloader
* Thanks to our respondent pd0200426 We can now safely re-lock the bootloader.
* WARNING: This needs to be done "ONLY" right after a Stock Rom Raw flash. Attempting to lock at any other condition might brick your device.
it's true? what i know is that the brick only happens when you re-lock the bootloader with the root ...

How to go back to stock and relock the Bootloader?

Hello
i have to sell my device so i want to get it to stock again.
My current Setup:
Bootloader Unlocked, Stock Recovery, Rooted with Magisk, Stock ROM 9.0.0.283
What are the Steps to go Back to Stock and wipe everything?
Ive read that if the bootloader relock again it is not able to unlock the second time? Is this correct? I want to get the Unlock Code to the person who buy it but if its real, he cant use the code anymore..
anyway is it possible to do the job with the Stock E-Recovery in the current state of my phone? Without bootloader Relocked? Or is it necessary to relock the bootloader again?
Thank you very much

Ask the buyer if they want it locked. Personally it wouldn't be worth my time if it couldn't be unlocked again. Better to check first..
If you want to lock (not relock) bl justdownload your adequate firmware from androidhost.ru and flash fw using Usb-otg method.
You can unlock/lock your bl using unlock code anytime you want (provided you haven't changed your mainboard in the meantime).

I thought you wanted to go back to stock. I've already gave you solution to bring back all the way stock.
I m not sure if it's even possible to re-lock bootloader using fastboot when you're on pie.
Bootloader status re-locked still means your warranty is void.

Hey I've tried this otg method but without success
If I try it with the dload folder option and try to force flash the emui updater throws an error.
Even with the dialer code method.. same..
I'm not able to get it to stock.
I've tried the Huawei suite on PC and phone in fastboot mode..same..massage this phone can't be reset or so..
What can I do next?
Current state, halfway working phone that's boot into os 2 times from 10 reboots.

Errors to avoid for Noobs & Advanced Users !

Hi,
This is gonna be very short :
As you can see, flashing custom roms/firmwares on (all) Xiaomi devices (after introducing project treble by Google) became a high risky business especially for noobs.
So here is some advice to avoid problems :
1- before flashing any firmware/custom rom : make sure you never choose relock bootloader in MiFlashTools (to avoid hard brick)
2- if you want to relock your bootloader : for example, if your device was shipped with a chinese firmware and you already have unlocked your bootloader, make sure you flash the same regional firmware (chinese one) before relocking it again. Any region mixing = hard brick ! (common error)
3- Mixing firmwares : if your device was shipped with a global/eea firmware and you want to flash a chinese firmware (for a specific rom) or vice versa, use fastboot one but again "don't relock your bootloader" (otherwise = hard brick)
4- tips : before using MiFlashTools, delete .bat files with relock and factory (if you want to keep your bootloader unlocked)
5- never buy a device with unlocked bootloader !

About Anti-Rollback :
Mi 9 Lite / CC9 is not an anti-rollback enabled device, so here you can downgrade from a higher firmware version (10:Q) to the lower one (9ie) ... However, you can't relock your bootloader even if you use a firmware for the same region !
=> Downgrade = possible / Relocking the bootloader is not allowed for a lower android version +++
Conclusion :
NEVER RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER IN ALL CASES !
Thank you, very helpful! Can you provide a source about Mi 9 Lite/CC9 definitely NOT having anti-rollback enabled?

Are you sure about that? I just asked similar question (downgrading 11.3.9.0 -> 11.3.5.0) a few days ago, and people here stated that this is possible with relocking, and even without unlocking at all.

They are both 9ie !
Downgrade means from a higher android version to a lower one.

OK. So downgrading within one major android version is possible without relock, but going down with major android version requires unlock, right?
I have successfully downgraded from 10 to 9 without re-locking. so its possible

Ok, but did you unlocked it first? Or was it locked all the time?

Always Unlock your bootloader before taking any action in your device !
Flashing = Bootloader unlocked (always for your safety)
Staying always locked = Staying in Official MIUI (for your safety)
Read again the OP for more information.

this saved my xiaomi life, after few attempts i got some errors, then i rerun miflashtool, selected IMG and everything and as I forgot that i reran miflashtool it stayed on default "Clean all and lock" and i pressed flash, few seconds of mini hearth attacks as I realised my Xiaomi is now dead, luckily before starting anything I deleted all lock files from image rom folder and it said error: "could not find flash_all_relock.bat"
thanks once again, really best advice since u can forget to tick clean all and when you rerun MiFlashTool it goes back to default which is clean all and lock!
Hi, is the november 2018 version the latest version of MiFlashTools?

Can I relock bootloader without flashing?

Is it possible to relock bootloader without using MiFlashTool and flashing a real firmware? For example just to test if a unlocking works (and to do the waiting time), without real flashing new ROM.

Question Relock Bootloader/Downgrade firmware

I am planning to return this phone to buy a xiaomi fold 2 but since I am rooted and bootloader unlocked I would need to relock the bootloader before I return it.
I would imagine I would need to downgrade back to the exploitable version to relock it as I am currently on12.0.16.6 but im not sure how as the OTA update zip isnt the standard partition image format im used to so I cant just do dd if=/xxxx.img of=/dev/xxxx
I already have the 12.0.13.6 firmware downloaded im just not sure how to get it back onto my phone.
Any help would be appreciated thanks
nevermind. The bootloader is now locked
I booted into EDL mode and soft bricked after booting out of it but it did relock the bootloader so I can now return in peace (for anyone wondering it was fastboot oem reboot_edl) I would not recommend running it at all though as you need to download new firmware from vivo recovery just to make the phone usable again.
