Low network signal on my A2 - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have my A2 almost one year, and problems with network signal have from two weeks.
Problem is a coverage, and basically the lack of it. The problem i have is only at work, all the time I had coverage in good level, but from a month ago, my phone lose signal (reboot repaired this issue but internet speed stay slow, earlier i had fast connection), but since a week I don't have signal at all in work (all time I have "no service" notification). My co-workers didn't notice any signal coverage changes, so only my phone have this issue. From half year I have Ressurection Remix rom and works great, I think my problem start at update magisk to version 20, but it's only my suspicion. Yesterday i flash new LineageOS on android 10 and didn't install magisk, to test signal on this rom. It didn't help at all. Any ideas to fix this?

Update:
I notice that I can't switch my network to manual. It's on automatic and when I tap to switch, then it shows "can't find any network, please try again". So im limited to one operator and phone didn't switch automatically to other operator, when I don't have network signal.

Have you tried:
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile Network -> SIM slot -> Advanced -> Access Point Names -> Menu -> Reset to Default
?

Yup, didn't help, maybe if I try stock rom, my problem disappear...

[Q] glitchy One, wifi not connecting, can't make calls, data very slow

I'm not rooted, and have stock ROM. It's a SIM-Free HTC One. Connected to EE network in UK.
I've got a fairly new issue that I just noticed in the last week. My HTC One is my second phone so I don't use it as much, but I'm at a point where I want to get rid of it due to the following issues:
I can't make calls, it would sometimes connect but i can't hear anything. This doesn't seem to be a network issue as a user with an iPhone5 seems unaffected.
I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network, but not the 2.4Ghz one, it just saves the password but won't connect. I've also noticed if i disconnect from the 5Ghz network, restart phone, i can make calls and hear the other side.
Using Data network, it doesn't seem to want to load anything, it shows 5 bars HSDPA and either goes incredibly slowly or just doesn't load at all.
General performance issues, everything would become incredibly slow, stuttery and incredibly annoying to use. yesterday the device crashed and restarted.
Any ideas what I should do? Try a full reset (ugh...) or is the device faulty in some way and I should contact HTC Support?
go to the dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#*
choose phone info, scroll down to the only dropdown box and select the correct setting for your provider ( wcdma preferred if you don't have a 4G contract)
and then back button about 4 times and try it again
It seems to be the way it should be: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. I was in France a week ago and it had serious issues roaming and data roaming, i had to change it to GSM/WCDMA auto or WCDMA only to make it work. and now back in UK, i set it to the same setting it used to be before I left.
On a side note, I have realised that EE is having data network issues in my area. I tried the SIM in another Galaxy S3 and it had difficulties loading websites, but, it COULD make calls without problems.
Also, no crashes as of today on the One, I still can't connect to my 2.4Ghz wifi router. Could the fact that I was using 5Ghz somehow messed something up inside the One?

[Q] Phone does not automatically switch mobile network mode

Hello,
My I9000 has a peculiar problem: While both mobile internet and Wi-Fi work fine, switching to 2G when 3G/UMTS/HSDPA coverage is bad does not. It ends up losing network connectivity completely in areas where other phones have no problem staying connected by switching to GPRS/EDGE. (3G coverage is spotty here at times, so this matters quite a lot.)
This problem has first appeared rather spontaneously when it was running its stock 2.1 firmware and has persisted through upgrades to stock 2.3 and CyanogenMod 10 through 11. I've attempted to switch modem firmware to mitigate it to no avail. (Modems XXJVT and ZFJPG/BVJJPG were tried, no difference was noticed - I am rather wary of messing with modems further, as this is my only phone and I'd rather it still could call at the end of the day.)
Moreover, if network mode is switched to GPRS/EDGE manually, it can't be switched back to 3G (either manually or automatically) without a reboot. (The 'set preferred network type' field in *#*#4636#*#* starts resetting itself to 'Unknown' spontaneously at this point.)
Unfortunately, I don't know many details of the incident that caused the appearance of the problem, as I was not the owner of the phone at the time - I only know that it was roaming nationally (within the same country) at the time. (The network type should have been the same, and it's not like it's stuck in roaming in any way.)
Has anybody encountered such a problem before? Is this likely to be a hardware problem, or could there be a software fix?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

you need to try fiddling with its network settings (read this for info only) you can use service codes on i9000 to set your network settings . Sometimes it may be due to network settings not set to Auto and set to preferred and at other times it could be antenna connection inside the phone having poor contacts.

Thank you for the hint. I have tried setting the "Select radio band" setting in *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information to European bands manually, and this appears to have mitigated the problem at least partly (phone has switched to 2G and back a few times during the day). I've noticed that it would sometimes just turn mobile data off despite having a good signal, not sure if this is related. It also sometimes seems to prefer another operator's 3G network to its own 2G ("emergency calls only", network mode is UMTS/HSDPA), but this is only guesswork since I have no way to actually confirm that the areas where this occurs have 2G coverage (it just seems really unlikely that they wouldn't). Maybe the fact preferred network type is "WCDMA preferred" factors into this.
TL;DR: Forcing radio bands seems to have helped, other radio weirdnesses remain but aren't nearly as bad.

Android 5.1.1. Update Disables Mobile Data (D5803)

Hello,
I recently updated my Z3 compact (D5803) to android 5.1.1. on the T-Mobile network here in NYC. Ever since then, I frequently lose the ability to do anything data-based with the phone. No web browing, no chatting on whatsapp. I can still make phone calls and send/receive SMS, however. The data functionality returns when on WiFi, but goes away once I switch back to LTE. In order for me to get data on LTE, I have to manually download the internet settings for my provider to my phone (this is located under the Settings menu in android). Even then, it only lasts for several minutes before the data connection is lost. T-Mobile was unable to fix the problem, and changing the SIM card didn't resolve the issue.
Anyone else experience this?
Yes, many others have the same problem, see various posts in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/discussion-5-1-1-stock-released-post-t3162309
Currently, the best workaround seems to be to disable and re-enable mobile data, or to go to airplane mode and back again. That solves the issue until you drop LTE connection the next time, then you will have to re-iterate.

Yes I am having the exact same problem since updating to 5.1.1. As the other reply says turning airplane mode off then on is the quickest way to get connectivity back (swipe down twice from the top for quick access). This is terribly frustrating though, it only lasts for a few minutes. I can't believe they pushed the update with this issue!

My phone had this issue after the over the air update. I reset the phone to factory, wiped all data. Two days on, now, and no more problems with this.
Same problem. I tried factory reset out of desperation, but it didn't work.
Love this phone, but very discouraged by this bug.
(I'm on t-mobile in Seattle, fwiw)

As posted in the other thread, there is now a fix/workaround:
From reddit user FishStik5: Going into the APN settings and changing the APN protocol to iPv4 only (it was iPv6 before) seems to fix the problem.
How to find the setting: Settings-> Wirelessa and Network / more -> Mobile networks -> APN -> T-mobile data -> APN protocol -> Set to IPv4.

Looks like this worked for me (T-mobile, San Francisco area). Thanks for posting this
i'm having the same problem and didn't work for my the ipv4. still loosing data, i have to reboot the phone
I have also problem with that (Orange, Poland). I sent my phone to official Sony service, they reload the software, but I still have that problem. Lte is working for a while and when my phone switches to wcdma (because it is not in a range of lte) it is not working either. However, when I change the preferred network from lte to wcdma it is working without any issues.
Same problem here although I'm on ipv4 [emoji34]
Sent from my Z3 Compact
I thınk you shouldnt buy operator phones. Buy ınternatıonal models next tıme
Mine isn't an operator model, I'm using Straight Talk and also have the issue. It made my phone useless....I almost never have data
This worked for me
This worked on my Doogee Valencia2 Y100Pro
Install and Open app "Hidden Android Settings" (by 0Alex)
Select choose and open "RadioInfo"
Move to Last option "TOGGLE DNS CHECK"
mine read "0.0.0.0 not allowed"
press the "TOGGLE DNS CHECK" so that it displays "0.0.0.0 Allowed"
That's it - my mobile data worked, I hope it works for yo

1. Change "APN Protocol" to IPv4
2. Change "APN Type" to: "default, supl" only
3. Change "APN" to "internet"
4. Save.
Best, Martin.

this is a bug on 5.1.1 sony need to fix it
Any news with this issue?
No problem here with LTE on the CM 12.1 Cyanogenmod flavor of 5.1.1 on T-mobile (that I've noticed at least). But I think CM 12.1 may handle the APN settings differently (mine is set to T-Mobile LTE ipV4) from the stock ROM or it could be something Sony messed up from the AOSP code. I'm NOT suggesting anyone try a CM ROM as a solution as there are lots of downsides to unlocking your phone and flashing any non-stock ROM. But the problem does seem to be specific to the Sony ROM and not 5.1.1 in general.
I also have this problem after the update to 5.1.1 in the Netherlands. The first problem was that the update changed some mobile data settings, so I downloaded the settings from my provider. Unfortunately those settings were also incorrect as I had to manually remove the APN's Proxy and Port (they were set, be needed to be 'not set'/empty). This improved the connection a bit, but it still looses the mobile data at certain places (where the coverage is good). Did a factory reset as the Sony helpdesk suggested. For a few days this seemed to help, but again the same issue came up. The suggested solution mentioned in this thread did not work as those settings are already applied.
I have a profider (Telfort) which uses another provider's network (KPN's). So after the update I also see a annoying R in the signal icon, where in the previous version it always showed H+, H, 3G.
Does anyone know if this is resolved in the new update?
After the last update and a new reconfiguracion on the APN now work correct for me.

And which version are you on? 23.4.A.1.200 or 23.4.A.1.232?

Mobile network not working for MI5 - Critical

Hi MI5 community,
I am unable to use mobile network flawlessly in my MI5. Sometimes SIM1 running, SIM1+SIM2 both running, none of SIM card works. 2 weeks back I mistakenly selected the radio band as USA Band from *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information1. Then after a fresh flashboot ROM installed problem solved automatically, but ideally this should not be. But now I am having terrible issue with SIM1 and SIM2 signal reception. Finally I have successfully write NV Values which was originally. But even after setting up values to the original, I am not getting mobile network signal. If I put only one SIM card then status bar says No Signal. If I put both SIM then 1st one says No Signal and 2nd one says Emergency calls only. Sometimes randomly SIM1 runs but SIM2 not. sometimes both not, sometimes both. Frustrating experience ever. Would appreciate if anyone can help me.
Looking forward some help from @TheUltrametricSpace especially.
I don't know whether i can help or not but i used to have mobile network fluctuating issue. At the same area, my SIM1 AND 2 will goes from 5 bar to 0, then came back to 3, then back to 0 then back to 5 again. It happen countless of times during the day(or even night). But the problem fixed when i switched to xiaomi.eu rom for mi5. I did do clean wipe system, data via twrp before i switched to xiaomi.eu rom.
Hope that helped
Hi @yChoon
Thanks for adding some views. Yesterday full day I was in latest EU ROM and the whole day I couldn't able to receive any signal. But around 8PM I have received signal @sim1 only. I hope I will be able to find out the culprit someday. But completely clueless

Problems with 3G & 4G data traffic

Hello,
I´ve been hafing my XZ1 Compact for 2,5 weeks now and it´s been working OK but;
It has been a little strange for a couple of days now:
After running WiFi at home and then coming out of the house, it has been difficult to find 3G or 4G networks - And the solution has often been to put the phone in "Airplane mode" and then deactivated it after a couple of seconds and then the 3G or 4G data traffic network has been working again (depending on which network selection I have made).
But now, it has lost both 3G and 4 networks permanently, no matter how I try to activate it, it´s not working anymore.
I have done the following:
- Several reboots
- Upgrading to the latest software on phone
- Disabled Stamina Mode
- Deactivated data saving
- Attempted with "Airplane Mode"
- Trying to have WiFi and input and let the phone choose itself
- Still have lots of GB on my monthly traffic rate
The telecom operator is Tele 2 and it's a business phone and data traffic settings are correct what I can see and no other colleague have any problems with their phones (not Z1 Compacts then).
- Does anyone have any tips?
Greetings Zeb
I don't experience any of those issues at all. Have you made sure, that your APN settings are correct? Try deleting them and setting it up again maybe?
me neither.
try:
Software repair (not factory reset)
another SIM
APN
another area.
