I'm surprised at how good this screen protector is. It comes with a plastic guide that goes on your phone and makes sure the glass lines up perfectly. It comes with 2 kits that include wet and dry cleaning cloths, dust removal stickers, and the glass screen protectors.
This package also includes a protective sticker for the back of the phone. I'm using a case, so I'm not going to use the sticker, but it's nice that they included it.
Finger print scanner works like normal. My phone case fits like normal and I can barely see that there's a screen protector on my phone. This is a way better purchase than I expected. Much higher quality than I expected.
The only thing I'm unsure of is the protector for the camera. I haven't been able to test it out in daylight to see if it shows up in the photos. Only 1 lens protector is included. My case sort of protects the lenses, so worst case I just remove the lens protector.

Do you guys realize it's kinda pointless to use screen protectors on Gorilla Glass 5, not to mention camera lens which is covered with sapphire glass.. you wouldn't be able to scratch it even if you tried.
i am more worried about dropping it, that amoled costs about half the phone in here
From where are you guys buying screen protector for this device?

Thanks for this tip, exactly as you described. Usually these things end up in the bin. Didn't even need to re do finger print , no rainbowing, full adhesive. Top notch. Sacked of camera piece as didn't take but wasn't bothered anyway.
I can't appreciate on the pictures, is it with frame or clear edges?

Glass is all clear, no frames.
I also have this screen protector. No need to manual adjust the screen protector just put the guide on your phone then place the screen protector. Voila, perfect fit!
Best combination for me is this screen protector + xundd beatle case.

Mostly online, it is available in amazon for like 10 US dollars. Here in the Philippines it only costs 8 US dollars.
Hi all !
Also bought this glass kit and must say first impression is positive compared with hydrogel foil and some noname glass.
Transparent, no fingerprint, great feeling under finger, case friendly cut BUT view screwed when wear polarised sunglasses.
Related
I purchased this based on some feedback I had read one some other forums. I have tried nearly every major screen protector out there (Spigen, RearthUSA, Incipio, PowerSupportUSA, Switcheasy, BodyGuardz, XO Skins, Best Skins Ever, a ton of cheap ones off Amazon, Zagg, etc.). Up until this point, I had always found the Ultra Crystal from Spigen to be the best overall. Not anymore.
Before I get started I want to mention that the Martin Fields Screen protectors are not cheap. One screen protector for the Nexus 7 is $29.99 ($34.99 for one iPad protector and $16.99 for one Galaxy Nexus protector)and it only comes with one screen protector and a set of instructions. That's it. I will say that the packaging is very environmentally friendly for those that care (makes no difference to me).
One issue I've always found to be a huge problem with these dry, crystal clear screen protectors (Again, think Spigen Ultra Crystal) is that they show fingerprints so easily that it really can become a huge nuisance and to my surprise this one doesn't show much at all. I would say it's nearly as good at resisting fingerprints as a matte finish screen protector.
A very innovative feature this screen protector offers is that it is completely removable. They include a Mylar sheet that you can stick it to if you need to take it off. Just apply a small piece of scotch tape at the bottom corner and slowly pull to remove it. This does bring up the biggest problem that I have with this protector though. It is somewhat brittle. It will crease if you aren't careful with it.
Turn on a steamy shower and install. Be patient as these things are a perfect fit and will require some patience to install.
Quick Summary:
PROS:
As clear as any I've ever used
Does not pick up oils like most clear, dry application screen protectors generally do
Feels as close to glass as anything I've ever used
Reusable
Covers entire screen
Comes with a Camera Lens cover as well
CONS:
Not cheap. If you purchase directly from MartinFields.com it is $16.99 + $4.99 shipping. Be aware of fakes on Amazon.
Doesn't come with much. Just a simple paper package, a screen protector and a Mylar sheet to apply it to if you decide to take it off and use it later.
Fragile, it will crease if you aren't careful

Hahahaha! That is hilarious. They do show fingerprints like a lot of dry application protectors but they don't have that blue smear effect ou get (Ultra Crystal).
So I purchased one of these and installed it this afternoon. All is well except three of the corners have a bubble and appear slightly lifted. The protector appears to be installed properly and no amount of rubbing with a credit card or fingers can get these edges to stick. Fwiw, I tried a reinstallation and have not touched the adhesive side.

How easy to install screen protector like this on Nexus 7?
I have concern for dust particles, bubbles and imperfection because 7" is not quite small.
And how is it with the touch, swiping, etc. still good?
If you can make some photos showing from corner to corner, that would be awesome.
Thanks for your review btw, I am considering to use this MF screen protector + some kind of back-case ala Incipio Feather for phones
I have installed probably 10 different protectors on devices of various shapes and sizes, and I find that with patience, the bigger the device, the easier it is to get the protector aligned properly. But it does take patience as you can spend 15-30 minutes just fishing dust out with scotch tape without getting fingerprints on the back side of the protector to get a perfect, bubble free adhesion.
I gave up on running a hot shower while doing it as it just makes the dust harder to find if it gets on the screen anyways, and for me it always seems to.
Does anyone know if a Tempered Glass screen protector would work with a Otterbox Defender(with the Otterbox screen pushed out). I like the MIME Tempered Glass screen protector but dont know if it will work with a Otterbox Defender and not have any gaps between the edge and the case.
I have the defender case with an anti glare SP on and it seems to work great... I'm not too sure about the tempered glass ones, but with this SP, it doesn't fully cover up to the edges, but the case covers those areas perfectly... I'm really happy I got rid of the crappy otterbox SP
If by "pushing the screen out" you mean removing the plastic film covering the screen then I think it should work. I can confirm a perfect fit for the Commuter, but with a Defender im guessing the MIME would be a little bit too thick
Yes i mean take out the Otterbox Screen protector and putting a tempered glass on in its place, im just worried about the tempered glass protector will not go under the Defender cases edges around the phone so its sealed from debris and stuff. If its too think i can shave off a little bit of the underside of the case if needed to get a good fit but i really dont want to do that. Ive just heard and read that the tempered glass is better for a Note 2 than a zagg because of the s pen can cause the zagg to mess up.
I think there would be problems using a MIME glass with a defender. Some parts of the case will be covering the glass protector. Im not so sure about the edges of the phone, but Im pretty sure you would have problems with the top parts, where the front facing camera and the sensors are placed.

I have a MIME ghost glass SP with a defender and it works perfectly. Yes the top part of the glass is covered by the front of the case buts it better since it creates a seal like the original sp did.

Can you post pics? I would like to see, ive read and heard that Otterbox was going to revise the Defender for the Note 2 but havent heard anything from them or seen anything about what they are going to do to it. I love my Otterbox Defender but the screen lets too much dust and debris under it, i cleaned it a few minutes ago with a micro fiber cloth and i already have a little bit of dust under it.
Also how are you liking the battery mod you have done?
Hi people, i just registered here to share my somewhat of a solution to the defender screen protector problem on the Note 2. It still shouldnt be like this after spending this kind of money on a case, but still its way better than stock.
I got my defender knowing about the screenprotector problem but I found it to be the only case protective enough for my liking.
I believe the problem comes from a combination of the substantial amount of glue between the frame and the protector, and the curved screen. I believe the glue pushes the protector down towards the edges of the screen, making the middle of the protector pop up along the sloping screen, so it actually lifts away from the screen in the middle.
What I did was very simple. I first popped the protector out of the frame. I did this with my hands without heating it because its a very flimsy and weak connection anyway. For those afraid to break it you could heat it up with a hair dryer first.
Then next thing i removed pretty much all of the glue, but i didnt wipe the 2 parts clean, leaving bits of what you could describe as a very thin anti-slip layer.
Next thing i had the phone in the rear part of the case, aligned the detached screen protector with a clean screen, and gently clicked the top frame on.
This leaves me with a very snug fitting protector that is not moving at all. I will post an update if this proves to be a short term thing but so far its doing great.
Eli.

Garbage compared to a tempered glass protector. Trust me get the glass and u'll be happy
That's a poor reflection on XtremeGuard. Most plastic protectors are not as good as tempered glass ones.
I can vouch for XtremeGuard's full body protection. I had the rear protector which is a wet install product. It was top notch to be fair, easily as good as bigger more expensive brands like Zagg. I only removed it as I got a good deal on a SlickWraps matte feel rear protector.
For the money, XtremeGuard always offering high discount, you can't go wrong.

Agreed, but some people don't want a tempered glass protector.
I for one LOVED the feel of my xtremeguard. I actually dropped something right on the screen of my phone (a large lithium ion battery) and it make a giant nick on surface.
I was filling out the forms for getting my phone replaced via HTC Advantage, and at the last moment before submitting I decided to just peel off the protector and see how badly the glass was damaged, since I was returning it anyway.
Turns out the ding looked like it went through on the glass, but it was entirely on the screen protector!
Saved my phone! I had the full body, and I loved the feel of the gloss back. It made it just sticky enough to be easier to grip and didn't spoil the look of the phone at all. Fantastic, and for the price? it's a complete no brainer. Last time they had this sale I bought five, and I don't regret buying that many at all. It's amazing.
Wow thanks for the post. Been looking for a screen protector. I ordered their tempered glass and the full body wrap (Just in case I dont like one or the other) for a total of $7.65 shipped! Glad I didn't spend 2-3x that last week Cheers
I have used xtremeguard now for the second time (first time was on a phone I had to get replaced due to a defect)...I personally use it for the protection between the phone and any case I install...I work in a dusty environment and it really helps protect from stuff rubbing into the aluminum body and scratching it...awesome product.

Great idea, thanks. Going to use the back from the full body protector (under my case), and the tempered on the front!
Have the glass protector on my phone right now. Feels just like the GLAS.t on my Note 3. Tried taking a key and knife to it, and it left no scratches. Granted I did not press down super hard, but enough to simulate something more than normal. Would recommend especially with their massive discounts.
I have their wet install screen protector on now and have had it since I got the phone. Works good, just like any other wet install screen protector. I have tried alot of different ones, and they are all about the same to me.
Here's a video of it on the device
Got it on mine. Doesn't smear, applies easy and looks invisible. Top notch especially for the price. (I got them on the 90% offer)
This is what I got. A wrap made out of real wood. I like the feel of the leather back and it'd be a shame to cover it up. The aluminum bumpers just don't look all that nice on this phone. So I've waited for a while until ToastMade came out with the wrap for the G4. And here it is...

It's too bad you can't opt out of the back cover, especially since it won't work with leather. And it looks like the longer edges of the front are too thick and would cover the screen

what?
Does the main case protection protection over the edges of the screen? (i.e. if you place the phone face down, will it be resting on the edges of the case or directly on the screen?) Cheers - looks great!

The wooden piece on the screen is about a mm or 2 thick. The screen doesn't touch the surface when it's faced down. I've had this same case on my G2 and Note 4. Dropped them both a bunch of times. The wood gets "dents" but nothing on the phone. That said, it's not a very protective case compared to the plastic/rubber ones. I'm very careful with all of my phones so I'm not too worried about drops.
I'm pretty sure using this you can't use a glass screen protector though.

you could. But I opted not to because it'll make the front wooden screen trim raise up a bit.

Tempered glass protectors do elevate the front cover ever so slightly, but you can use a standard screen protector as well. I do not have a screen protector on mine, but I reserve a pocket for my phone and I'm really careful not to put anything abrasive in with it. The front cover has saved my screen when face planting numerous times. :victory:

Sorry for the delayed response, as I was out of town.
All front covers are sold individually as well: http://www.toastmade.com/products/phone-fronts.html
I got a slickwrap wood skin once, and it started peeling all over within a day or two, of just being in my pocket. Not even heavy use. Slickwraps wrote me off saying it was normal wear & tear. How has this one been for you?
Hi Everyone,
Quick question about the wet install screen protectors, can the solution that comes with the screen protector (e.g. skinomi,clearcoat...) wear out the oleophobic coating?
It is just a mild soap and water solution. Dries in minutes on the front.
I hate the wet sp. Why would you want to put liquid on your phone on purpose. Not worth it to me. You can apply the dry one instead. If you have lint under use scotch tape to get it out.
Honestly, you can get a nice tempered glass protector for about $5.
Don't use the wet applied protectors, they feel horrible.
They are always sticky feeling and soft.
So soft that you end up with permanent marks in them from your fingernails.
The clarity of the wet applied protectors is also sub-par.
Get a nice tempered glass protector and follow this for installation:
Got to the bathroom (just trust me on this).
Run a hot shower and close the bathroom door.
Clean the phone while the steam builds up in the room.
Clean the phone some more.
Keep cleaning that phone.
OK check that there is no more dust on the phone.
Peel off the back protective layer on the tempered glass.
Turn the phone sideways.
Hold the glass from the ends with just your fingertips.
Evenly align the glass with any cutouts or the edge of the display.
Drop the glass all at once onto the display from about 1/4" above it.
Press the glass lightly with a finger in the middle of the display and watch as it applies itself.
You should have a perfectly applied protector now.
The tempered glass will feel exactly like the phone with no protector on it, it will also have an oleophobic coating that will resist fingerprints and smudges.
*EDIT* The steam from the shower will remove the dust in the air and guarantee you a perfect installation every time (unless you place it in the wrong spot)
Hey everyone,
Yeah, i know wet screen protectors are ugly and feels horrible to the touch. i originally installed the tempered glass screen protector and a long piece of dust got stuck under, so i tried to remove it. I used my nail and lifted up the screen protector and removed the dust BUT the corner where i dug my finger nail in to lift sp then had a pushed in adhesive (not sure how to explain it). I like my screen protector installs to be at least 99% perfect (even installing for friends) and since i had a clearcoat full body protector next to me. I was planning to use it on the body of the phone and not the screen. So since the SP wasn't perfect i removed it and stuck on the CC SP on it as a temp solution. I tried it install it and man was it hard. I stuck on the Skinomi one on a different phone before and that came out perfect with ease. Didn't know why but the CC one was nasty.
So anyways, after 30mins of attempting i gave up, removed it and packed the G4 back into the box until i had a new tempered SP.
Now i got a tempered one installed perfectly but i wanted to know of the solution could removed/wear out the oleophobic coating.

It should not remove the coating.
The oleophobic coating is waterproof and oil resistant.
I have never in the past (before tempered glass) had a problem with a wet installed protector removing the coating.
I will say that if you do not use enough of the spray that comes with them, they WILL stick way too much to your phone and that may damage the coating when removing the protector.
Many Thanks, I think i put sufficient amount of water on. It didn't take too much effort to remove.
I have used glass protector for my G3 and G4 from Glass4M Glass. Well and smooth for touching. http://glass4m.com/product/glass-m-premium-tempered-glass-screen-protector-for-lg-g4

I have/had no problems with a wet install screen protector.. I prefer it mostly for the fact that you can move it around while it's actually on the phone to get the positioning you're happy with.
Also make sure the protector has a cut out for the front sensors because l got one that didnt and i screen would turn off when making a call due to the protector blocking the proximity sensor.

You can calibrate the sensor to work with screen protectors that cover it.
You should be able to find the information on how to do it from google, if not let me know and I will try and find a link explaining it.
I don't remember exactly how to do it, but it was with one of the hidden menus from the dialer.
