Using Stock Realme X2 Pro, 256 GB variant. Cannot find WiFi data usage. Though, mobile data usage is available, WiFi usage doesn't seem to be available.
Found it!
(Update)

I have a Nexus One and my wife has a Nexus S. Both phones are stock. We both use a prepaid plan with the same carrier in Rio de Janeiro. We both use a data toggle and only use 3G when we're out, mostly to check in somewhere or use Facebook.
I use my time up 3 times as fast as her and she uses her phone much more than me. I do have many more apps installed on my phone than she does.
I've searched this forum as well as the Market for a solution or an app that monitors 3g usage by program. I find a lot that monitor usage but not that show you the guilty program that is hogging your 3g.
I guess I need a 3G plumber to fix my leak. Any suggestions?
That's an interesting question. I swore I saw something before that monitored the usage and displayed what used what, but I can't seem to find it either.
I'll watch this closely because I'm curious myself. I wouldn't mind watching my usage and see what's what..
There is no app that can track individual apps and what data they use. But there is an app out there called shark reader which shows TCPdump which you then use that app to see everything that is hitting your data connection. But its rather technical. I've always wondered why nobody turned that into a nice app interface to track app data usage.
There's a thread here at xda dedicated to shark reader, just search around for it.
You can monitor data use by individual app with 3G watchdog pro on the market. I also use droidwall to lock down program access by wifi or 3g use.
Here's the links:
3G Watchdog Pro
Droidwall
They have worked well for me, Droidwall is free, 3G Watchdog has a free version but the free version won't break down data use by app, just by overall data use, the Pro version adds usage by individual app.
+1 for 3G Watchdog! Very good customization and data stat's info presentation!
I've been using DataToggle and only turn on 3g when I use it and then turn it off. I have checked my wife's Nexus S settings against my Nexus One and every thing matches (System settings, Facebook, Foursquare, Gmail and etc.) Could there be anything I could check to see what accounts for the difference in data use?
I did receive an e-mail from SPB advertising their SPB Wireless Monitor. It's a $10 app that looks like it would do what I want (I don't mind spending the $10 bucks because I could probably save that much in a month). The problem is when you view the app in the Market, the screen shots (specifically the one for individual app usage) states it may not be accurate. Would hate to throw $10 bucks away if the information is not accurate. Does anyone has any experience with that app?
Some times we'll be sitting at the same table and check in on Foursquare and I'll be on edge and her phone is on 3g. My phone changes from edge to 3g and back again quite often while being in the same location. Her phone does also but not as much as mine. I didn't mention before but both phones are on GB.
There are free apps to do the same thing (breakdown of the data traffic by app). Search the forum, you'll find them.
Plus, she might be spending much more time connected to WiFi than you.
Plus, having much more apps, you might have much more data traffic sources (services that sync data) than her.
I realized what app it was that shows use by app.
The application "monitor" that comes stock with the MIUI ROM breaks it down for use per app (if you click the "firewall" tab when in the Monitor app).
I found it last night when I was searching around.
I've found Network Counter by mapeapps to be pretty good...

I installed Network Traffic Usage Stats and it seems to be what I need.
Based on a reply to another post on this forum it seems my problem may just be the difference in the radio/antenna on the Nexus One compared to the one on the Nexus S. It seems I'm on Edge more than 3g as opposed to my wife's Nexus S which pretty much stays on 3g.
I forgot. Thanks for all the feed back
It shouldn't matter if you are on Edge or 3G, since data is usually measured in bytes, not minutes. 10 meg is 10 meg, whether on E, 3G, or whatever...?

Has anyone using this app noticed higher data usage since installing? I tried the beta version and loved it. I upgraded to the paid version.
I'm located in Brazil and have to use a limited data plan. I have two apps for monitoring data usage (Trafficstats and SPB Wireless). I check my data usage daily and use Data Toggle to turn 3G on only when I can't use wifi.
I was out one night and attempted to check in from my location. The location did not have wifi so I used 3G. The location did not come up so I had to enter the information by keyboard. When I got home and checked my data usage I nearly fell of the chair. Almost 3 meg just for a check-in.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
I love the app. It's prediction is amazing. Not only can it predict the word as you're typing but also the next word that you might type. The keyboard layouts and the skins (especially the Neon) are great. If you have a unlimited data plan this is a great app.
There is no way to restrict to wifi so I guess I'll be doing a lot of long press to be changing input methods
You might want to look through the settings. I think there is a social network Facebook thing that is turned on by default.

Hi guys i am new to android and after a few searchers on google i cant really find an answer.
I downloaded a data usage tracking app first onavo and then 3g watchdog, and i dont know if what it says is correct or not .
When i go to usage by application i see a group of apps which constantly send and receive a lot of data , but the usage doesn't add to total data usage so i dont know what to think , both onavo and 3g watchdog do this .
I'll be gratefull if you can give me an answer.
Ill attach a screenshot.
I use 3g watchdog too, and for many months. You can swipe to see data usage by day, week and month, so you should know what page are you looking at.
About the total data amount not tally with individual app data usage, I can safely say that you only follow main page total data usage reading (day/week/month).. it is quite accurate. I use to monitor my 3g usage because my 3g plan has a daily 20mb limit which I will get charged if I go over it.
Cheers!
I have activated 3G service on my note. Got the 2gb for Rs 450 plan. I have noticed that there is a huge difference between the usage shown my 3g watchdog (and settings>data usage) and Airtel records (by *123*11#). If I use "Internet" browser just for a minute of casual browsing and close the browser, then upon checking the balance on airtel it shows I've used 9-15mb within a minute whereas 3g watchdog reports a much realistic usage. The difference is nearly 10 times.
I have tried searching a lot online. Have got tips like restricting background usage of apps to wifi only and disabling automatic backup and restore. Have done all that and yet the problem continues.
What could be he problem? I'm totally at a loss. Its been just 3 days and I've hardly used 3g since I have wifi at home and yet as pet airtel records I have used more than 400mb. No videos or songs were downloaded and no YouTube.
Have any of you guys noticed such a huge difference between the usage reported by your device and operator? A few kb here and there is fine but 4mb cannot be reported as 40mb! Please help.

I'm sorry.. I haven't mentioned my device details. I'm on official Indian 4.0.4 rom. No root nothing.
Don't have many apps installed. Just regular stuff.. Facebook.. whatsapp.. opera mini.. and some more.

Same problem with me here in Delhi. Casually use internet just for browsing. But, the data usage is always way too high. I think it is a problem with the Airtel servers not the galaxy note.

I use 3g on my note in Mumbai(Airtel) with the same plan that you have mentioned. I have tried many data counters apps and settled on onavo because it gives me the closest value that you get on *121*11#. Still when onavo reaches 80-85% my plan gets over and they start charging per kb. But your case sounds too extreme. If as you say u don't have many apps and have no mods or custom rom then its Airtel to blame.

What about the inbuilt data usage counter in ICS? Does it show the correct usage?
Thats way too extreme bro even I'm from Calcutta although I don't use Airtel cos their network sucks at my place.
It seems the apps are eating up all your bandwidth. I am on Aircel 3G and don't have problem like yours.
Since you tried all the possible methods all I can suggest you to keep Data Network Mode deactivated when you not using it and also switch to GSM mode.
Use 3G mode only when you plan to use it because androids are way to net savvy
Atleast that way it won't be able to use the high speed network and you can still save a lot of your data.
I too noted the difference between the third party app and the stock one. As soon as i installed a third party one the stock showed very little activity. Just use the stock data monitory and track your usage and also switch to 2G when u dont need 3G to save battery and usage. Also the *121*11# dosnt seem to be working for me? I am too on Airtel (postpaid)

in my case a third party data monitor app 3g watchdog and stock ics data monitor show nearly the same usage.. difference of .01-.10 KB maybe. Try *123*11#. That shows very very high usage.

I don't gave that many apps.. lol.. what will eat bandwidth? Haha.. surprisingly in 2g mode on a 2g plan the data usage reported is somewhat believable.
Any kolkata users using 3g on operators besides airtel and aircel? Vodafone maybe? I'm thinking of porting out to vodafone.
I talked to an airtel representative and he's like go to a relationship centre and prove it first and only then we will check. I really don't think I have the time for that.

People actually use the 3g data plans?? there are other ways to get 3g .

I recommend to root your phone and get LBE Privacy Guard or even LBE Security Manager from the corresponding xda thread. It let's you restrict internet acces for every app. I use Security Manager since it offers an option to set up certain apps so you are asked if they should be allowed to access internet. Privacy Guard only offers the possinility to allow or deny internet access permanently.

I'm a little wary about rooting. What I'm planning to do is to try our sim cards of different networks in kolkata and see whether the problem persists or not. If yes then obviously something is wrong with my note. If not then its Airtel's mistake and I'd port out to that operator which does fairbl billing, retaining my existing number. I dont really see any other option left.

OK. I tried his. On my 3g plan, I started using GSM ONLY mode from network options. Now I believe the note will connect only to EDGE and not 3g, right?
With this in mind I browsed 3-4 pages on tumblr for about a minute and disconnected. My operator shows 9.5mb of usage in a minute of browsing! Is that even possible on EDGE? Can I use 9.5mb of data in one minute with speeds offered on Edge?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
No it's not possible. Edge offers a data rate of 384 kbit/s. 384 * 60 /1000 / 8 = 2.88 MB. You should definitely contact your provider.

Since installing the March update, all mobile data traffic caused by tethering is not counting anymore in data usage.
The problem is independent of the data usage app. Have also configured a very low data usage warning in the settings menu for testing, so that the Xiaomi phone displays data use per app. Tethering shows only a few megabytes, and counts only up some bytes when tethering is anabled or disabled.
Has anyone any advice?
