[HELP] Way to restore Wzap messages long gone. [NOT ROOTED] - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

My phone bricked at the beginning of november, so i had to reflash it.
After restoring the phone, did not realize that wzap older messages, for some reason, were not restored.
Is there any way to find this old messages?
Maybe the previous wzap backups exist in a different file path, so it could not get restored, i dunno
Plz HALP

Why ask that on a device forum?
I personally don't even know what Wzap is... If you have question about an application, please find a forum about this application to ask it, it is very unlikely that someone will help you here for this topic.

I think Wzap mean WhatsApp, he ask WhatsApp deleted old messages how to recover

if you had those backed up on google drive and did not set up the google backup this time, you could restore the old messages. If not, then no luck mate.

How did you "reflash" exactly and why or how did you expect WhatsApp to restore messages?
It sounds like messages were restored somehow, but not the older ones, right?
Did you use a program to restore apps, like Titanium or Swift backup?
Please tell in more detail what you did.

SMS Folder

where is the folder that contains the SMS messages. i want to back them up before i flash to a new ROM...
pleease use ppcpimbackup and the search function
can it be done without 3rd party app?
ppcpimbackup IS 3rd party app. there are many apps to do a backup, but the standard is ppcpimbackup. use of other backup method to migrate form a rom to another is strongly discouraged by cookers
as ppcpimbackup is free, i don't see any single reason to don't use it
An alternative (better imho) solution is to use Microsoft's new My Phone service.

unfortunately it does appear to not restore them at times, usually when you're in the middle of nowhere and have to hard reset..
at least pimbackup keeps everything on the sd card, where it can be restored at any time at all.

Back Up Question

I will admit although I am a seasoned mac user and program specialist im totally lost with my fairly new Touch Diamond,Sprint, I have don many hacks and mods and i really like the phone. I would like to try different roms but i will only do so if i can totally back up the phone, I mean so i can just restore to the exact same way it is now Is this possible? Sorry for the possibly lame question. Thanks,
Mike
NOw that almost 40 of you have viewed this can i get some kind of answer

U DONT need computer to do a back up or restore, unless you format internal storage on device.
Install the program and do the backup.
The back up is stored on internal storage, you can keep the .cab file of the backup program there to.
So when somthing wrong-(wipe device) and after fresh install of windows install spbbackup .cab and then restore what ever you backed up.
Somthing like this
and forgive my english
ah very nice. thank u muchh
Is there a way to "image" the phone, so EVERY thing is backed up? Like installed programs, settings, contacts, colours... everything?

There are many backup options available. You can use an app like Sprite Backup or Sashimi to backup anything you want to keep including the registry. Microsoft has the MyPhone service as an option.
You can always flash back to the shipped rom to get your device back to factory state. If you don't flash your device and you do some tweaks/hacks that screw it up you can always hard reset and start fresh. Good Luck!

Most backup options won't do a "complete" backup - like an "image" of the phone that can be put back on so that there is absolutely EVERYTHING on the phone back on it.
I'm talking like putting a ROM on, but it being my entire phone - settings, documents, call log, pictures, installed programs, etc.
The reason being is that I already had to hard reset earlier this week, and it's a pain to have to do EVERYTHING over again.

I don't know if there is anything like what you want yet. I was trying to help the OP.
I think the closest thing you can get right now is Sashimi but I seem to remember that someone was working on something similar for frequent rom flashers.

I'm going to try Sprite Backup. Sounds like it might work.

[Q] Any way to backup->flash custom rom->restore ALL data?

Hi to all,
I really hope this isn't a re-post, I've searched a lot and the web but with no results.
Is there a method to make a FULL backup (contacts, mails, sms, apps etc..) before flashing a custom Rom on my HD7?
I've seen some apps that can backup the .xap of the Phone but no one talk about the list of personal contacts and all personal data/files in the Phone!
I'm searching for something to restore my HD7 exactly as before the flash (I don't want to re-save all my telephone numbers, they are tooooo much... )
Any solution?
Thank you very much!
PS: XDA forum is the best!
To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a way to restore everything back to your phone. You can sync through Gmail, Live, Outlook, etc. to store email, contact phones, etc, but backing up sms and mms is not yet a possibility.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
backup contacts: u use hotmail or gmail to sync with your phone.
backup apps: U've seen some apps that can backup the .xap of the Phone:OK
backup other(sms...): Your phone must update to mango from zune (not use custom rom) and use app in attachment or you can search on forum.

Duplicate system on new Moto X

Would it be possible for me to duplicate the system+data and everything on my Moto X and write it to the new one that I just received from a warranty return? I have them both for a couple days and I do not want to have to go through all the crap I did to get my phone's system partition writable and rooted again. I am just not sure how to go about it. I have tried googling, but I have not come up with anything useful. Thanks for the help.
Edit: I want to make a ROM of my current phone, and flash it to my new phone.
Titanium backup can do something like that....but I don't know much about it. I tried it once, it didn't work on the same phone. Lol. I probably did it wrong.
Anyway, I've read about people doing things like this, and honestly, they all usually have issues. Simply transferring a nandroid to PC and to new phone may or may not work....don't backup or restore efs in any way tho. That's the main issue. You don't want to mess with the new phones EFS folder....or you could end up with a paperweight.
The easiest thing to do, that has little risk, is backup with titanium backup. Transfer the backup folder to PC. Then install titanium backup to new device and transfer the backup folder over to the same spot on new phone. Your apps and data can be restored then. Most should work fine.
Or course, anything you try will require a rooted phone.
Tho check out Helium....never used it, but apparently it will backup non rooted phones. Then follow what I said about titanium backup above...but with helium.
Personally... To me, new phone should have a fresh start. That's just me tho.

Again....yes....to do anything to system for sure or use a "rom" or nandroid you create....you need root and custom recovery.

Unable to install other ROM after custom from in TWRP

I recently installed Project Elixer custom rom on my Poco M2 device, everything worked fine. However, calls and sms are not working, I tried a lot of things but no good. So, I decided to go for other custom rom like PixelPlusUI, but when I went to twrp and tried to install it, shows me error -> ERROR 1: unable to extract rom.zip, I tried other roms and versions too. but same issue, so I guess this is something wrong with my system instead of roms. I am really stuck without sms and calls pls help me
For the sms and calls problem...
Did you make an IMEI Backup? Because is the most common way of lossing mobile services, if you did make a backup, just restore it in TWRP, if not, you're screwed, is impossible to restore the IMEI completely without any backup.

Hey there, thanks for helping me.
I want to give you an update.
What happened is that I took the backup when my phone was working fine, however my pc got resetted and I lost that eventually.
After reading your post I was totally scared that I nuked the phone.
And the info was correct, w/o backup, if IMEI is gone we are screwed.
However, a friend of mine helped me and told that the issue is not with IMEI, so I somehow managed to boot back into original rom.
Thanks a lot
