psx4droid v2 finally working on Nexus S

I downloaded the update for PSX4droid this morning and played a few rounds of Marvel vs Capcom, although it is a little choppy, this is the first version to run on Gingerbread.
EDIT: changed refresh rate to 30, played smoothly, but forced closed after a while.

snesdroid is also working.

Hi, I can't get it to work on my Nexus S. I just downloaded PSX4Droid, the correct BIOS (SCPH1001) and 2 different versions of FFVII. One is a .bin and the other is .iso. I can't get either to work.
When I click them in the ROM selector the menu slides off to the left (as if it's loading the game) but then it just goes back to the ROM selector page.
Any tips/ideas?
EDIT: PS: The .bin version came as an ECM but I unpacked it correctly.

Having the exact same problem on my Nexus S, and am following that same procedure. I also had another game that was in the ECM format that I converted to .bin format following other instructions, and tried like 7 other BIOS files I found online too. Anyone that got it to work want to shed some light on how they are doing it?
Wanted to add that I am using the free version, maybe only the paid version was updated to work?
EDIT: OK, really wanted it to work haha so went ahead and bought the v2 paid version, and it does actually work, so I guess that the free version has not been updated to work with the nexus s yet.

I'm unsure of the rules on this forum so don't want to link. Just google "psx roms" and use the first result. The URL starts with "emu"

I bought this a while ago for the n1. While the performance is better here on the ns than on the n1, playing a game eventually results in a force close. A bit frustrating.
I'm holding out for fpsece which is said to be coming out soon, with much better performance than psx4droid.

Yes, a psx emu. Put cd images of psx games you own on internal storage and play them on your phone with virtual controls.

Psx4droid Not working on Nexus S
I tried both the free and pay version of psx4droid and never got a rom to work. I downloaded different roms form different sources and even did some converting to .bin file from 7e files. Still nada. I also did the whole sch1001.bin (or whatever the correct file name is) and loaded that into the emulator but again nothing. All that happens is that when I try to load a rom is goes back to the menu page or just crashes. Any ideas about what I can or should do?

For those of you still having trouble with psx4droid on the Nexus S:
Download the v2 apk, not the v3 available on zodttd's website.
I found this, who knows how long it'll be there, but it works fine on my phone:
Ok seems it won't let me post a link, but just google "psx4droid v2 v1.1.2.apk" or a variation of it and that should do it.
Just tried it with Castlevania SOTN and it ran slow but at least it worked, I'm sure messing around with the settings could speed it up a bit, I'll research it when I get a minute. Tried FF Tactics and it booted up fine, didn't try gameplay yet.

Issue with sense based roms?

Hi I am pretty new here and unable to post in specific threads of the different roms because of post requirements but I have noticed that all the sense based roms are unable to do one thing and that is play mlb.tv games on the at bat app. It shows an error saying unable to find my location so it won't let me see any of the games at all. This isn't such a huge deal but it would be nice if there is a fix or if anyone is aware of why this is happening. All cm10 roms work fine and don't give me an issue with mlb games so I just find it weird.
Sorry if this is in the wrong area feel free to move it if need be.

hmm i tried it and its a paid subscribtion but i didnt get any errors? and sorry not gonna pay just to test and help fix

I've been using at bat for years and never had an issue.. I watch and listen to games to this day on my HTC one..
I may have the answer for you though. Pull down the shade, tap settings, scroll to developer options, enable developer options with the toggle on the top right, go to allow mock locations and make sure it is NOT checked.

If what @BrianBaker said doesn't fix it. It could be the same thing as the problem people have with some games, Veetle, or the Watch ESPN app. Here is the fix for that.
If none of that works, it could be an issue with an ad-blocker program. Try disabling ad-blockers if you are doing that.

did they address the emui 8 bug of adjusting scaling not affecting nav button size?

i know this is on emui 8.1, so i'm curious if this issue was fixed that i had on the mate 10 pro. Basically if you adjust the screen size in settings or 'minimum width' in dev options, everything resizes fine, except the nav buttons and notifications don't change, those are huge regardless of what you do. Didn't have that issue on my mate 9 on emui 5, so I assume its just a recent bug.

Still annoying. They are busy doing nothing.

In my case it's just the settings and keyboard that's getting changed when using this setting.
This is super annoying and I got pissed when I got this result after buying a phone for this price!
I've been talking with Huawei customer service and they just comes with solutions like, can you please try to restart your phone and see if that will help? And why do you want to change this? Bla bla... No help!
I tried an app called dpi changer, there you can change the dpi and resolution. The last one actually works, but it ****s up the notch... But it scales down the everything.

Here's hoping a AOSP rom drops for this device soon

This also happens on other phones, HTC U12 for one, so works as intended by Google i'm afraid you're holding it wrong

It works like a charm on Samsung galaxy s9+

I also noticed this part on huawei mate 10 pro, when i had p10 plus everything was small after small settings. So i hoped it would be same on p20 pro but sadly p20 pro is just like mate 10 pro :/ the slidedown notice part and buttons above is huge still.

Just got the Mate 10 Pro with EMUI 8.0.0.157. Good screen & cameras, but everything is so small, that hard to read even with glasses.
It looks as they still fix nothing.
Thinking about returning, because such manufacture attitude should not be tolerated.
From another side, there is, of course, normal LineageOS, although have no idea if the good cameras would work good.
Anybody found a good way to fix this scaling issue ? EMUI 9 or a custom ROM ?

Update: In related thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77935488&postcount=982) found that : "Huawei no longer give unlock codes, so without it,
the only way is to pay FunkyHuawei for the privilege of changing OS."
Really bad and my decision is very clear now ;(

Recent Apps reloading while switching all the time!

I recently bought the Honor 10 Lite and everything, from its looks to the performance has impressed me. However, I noticed a very frustrating issue with the "recent apps" function. Every time I try to switch to another app from the list, it reloads all over again instead of opening it in the way it was left.
I did my research and found that tons of other users using EMUI 9.0 or above are facing this and it is happening due to Memory Management. I found and tried all the alternative solutions like lowering the screen resolution, changing the "App Launch" settings to Manual in the battery options, disabling the apps from the "Battery Optimization" settings from the Special Access menu etc. but none of it works. Some have also mentioned to Disable or Uninstall the stock launcher to get back to the Oreo style Recent App card list as a solution. But I am scared to do that, as it can affect the future updates for sure.
It seems like our phone's forum hasn't been quite active so far. Its obvious as its a new device and people are yet to find and talk about issues here. Anyway, there is surely a memory leak which is causing all this. The remaining memory is always below 1 gb which is unusual in a phone with 4 gb of RAM. And it is due to this, the apps are being reloaded in the Recent Apps list to free up more RAM! I really hope Honor will look into this and find a solution in the upcoming update!
Please share your opinion or help out if you are facing the same too. Thanks!

If its non Chinese variant you can simply change launcher there is no need to afraid about it.And updates wont be effected.

I have an Indian version of Honor 10 Lite. And I am using a different launcher already. So you are saying, I can disable or uninstall the stock launcher and the updates wont be affected? You sure?
I wrote about this to Honor India's official page in Facebook before few minutes. And their reply was quite typical. They wanted me to turn off the android system and transition animations to free up the ram and stuffs. I clearly told them that this was a memory management issue as others described it. But they gave me this irrelevant reply!
I just bought this phone. I mean its just been 2 days. I really dont wish to regret my decision now. The recent apps keeps reloading every time I switch them. Its ridiculous!

I have Honor 10 and I use different launcher other than Stock and its works fine and ota too work.

Yeah, thats what I said too. I am using another launcher apart from the stock "Huawei Home". I have not disabled or uninstalled the stock launcher yet. Shall I do that? That is what i am asking!
A lot of people have said that uninstalling the stock launcher will free up a lot of RAM and also enable the Oreo styled recent apps card list which will solve this app reloading issue!
I just contacted the Huawei customer care and a lady advised me to record the whole issue and send the video to their service email address. I have shared this EMUI 9.0 issue faced by others as a feedback to them too. Hope they will fix this in the upcoming update!

Yes, you can if any issue happens you can just reset your phone it will be back to normal.

I can confirm this. I've got a model having 3 gb ram. I am using Microsoft Launcher and deactivated everything related to battery to test it out.
1. Closed all my apps via recent apps
2. Then I opened a folder in ES Explorer and went back to homescreen.
3. I went into gallery and watched a video for 60 seconds, back to homescreen.
4. I went into Facebook and read an article for 60 seconds.
5. Going back to Es Explorer (No matter via Homescreen or recent tabs) makes it reload completely.
This definitely is not related to not having enough RAM.
I also can't deactivate my Huawei home, it is greyed out. Right now i am seriously starting to hate that phone.

Alright I got it working more or less by uninstalling Huawei home via adb. it's not perfect (3-4 keep open mostly), but with the switch to card style in recent apps it finally feels not as sluggish as before anymore.

Remove battery saving mode or some apps automatically optimized by phone manager or other solution is to keep that app in app assistant or game mode. UI is made for battery optimization and ram management otherwise you have got stock android

I have this problem too! It's so annoying. The phone is perfect besidd this problem

Black Screen on some games

I'm getting black screen on Dream League on my Xiaomi Mi 9, i can't open the app at all, i listen the audio, but nothing appears on the screen.
And on Frui Ninja Free black screen too.
Anyone has got similar problems?

Any ideas?

Unfortunately no.
It's a software problem.
I hope they fix those bugs with future updates.

i got same problem today when first install the game. next time will be black screen and sound and next time opened. i don't know why. it can be about game turbo im not sure...

Anyone found a solution?

Downloaded this and was able to debug this on my device via looking at logcat. Went from a black screen to having the startup page. Didn't test ingame

Looks like the app uses SSL certificate pinning. If you use an adblocking solution that intercepts HTTPS traffic like Adguard - you'll have to disable it for this app unfortunately. If you aren't doing something like that, try a different network

I don't use any Adguard, mine Mi9 is on global Rom and I've tried to open the game in different connections.
Anything else I can do? Maybe using developer options.. Because I can't understand why this mobile its intercepting HTTPS traffic.

It was the problem for me - you might have something different going on. If you dm me a logcat I'll have a quick look, no guarantees

Same problem here for skyfore reloaded but for skyforce 2014 there is no problem. It is very weird.

Try changing the contrast and colors display settings! I had the black issue with HDR YouTube when being in standard contrast, so give it a try!

I got this problem too. Playing on a Mi9 and solved by turning off the Game Speed booster in "General Settings".

Same goes to me, fixed it by turning off game booster. But, the problem appears when I closed the game while I'm in the middle of a match. Please help me to find a fix for this

Well I got a few problems also.. mine it doesn't play NFS no limit, relic run, on call of duty mobile when I play battleroyalle the game shuts down randomly, Fortnite does play well 60 FPS but when the storm shrinks it freezes for a couple of seconds but only then... Actually I can't really play anything...

I get black screens in call of duty mobile, only in the battle royale mode. Didn't get it before updating to Android 10. Probably going to move to a custom ROM, the update has too many bugs.
