I had this issue for about a year...which was the goddamn low in-call volume. In my case it was the clogged earpiece.
So maybe you can try out cleaning the earpiece first before going onto other software-side solutions or replacing the earpiece.
get an old but clean toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol.

* clean out the rough grit by toothbrush first.
* then spray (~2 squirts) some isopropyl alcohol directly onto the earpiece.
* shake the phone in an outwards motion
* now you need a soft but non-fiber surface because you are gonna hit the earpiece of the phone a bit strongly. paper on a towel works fine.
* hit the earpiece of the phone repeatedly onto the surface. if you used a white paper you will see "grease" traces on the paper. hit until you see no more gunk on the paper.
* let the earpiece dry for about 5 minutes
* check whether the volume of the in-call is improved.
for me the results were dramatic! i would guess that the volume increased 80-100%

Any way to tighten up the hinge mechanism and slider rails? Yes I've searched and the 4 screws on the hinge will not tighten up the resistance to tilt up/down only if the screen/body wobbles alot.
Today replaced my entire front housing/middle section and thankfully the phone works perfectly so far aside from looking like it was just unboxed. But -- I would have liked to tighten the hinges. Didn't fully disassemble the slider mechanism and totally remove the sim card holder. Read the full HTC SERVICE guide and looked at the photos couldn't see if there is a couple of screws beneath that apply pressure to the hinge plate. Tighting the rails looks like its impossible - ANY INSIGHT to either would be helpful.
UPDATE: Found a fully detailled photo of a slider and it looks like a screw just above the hinge in the photo - is this the screw to apply more pressure? I'm a little hesitant in popping off the sim reader since it looks like its double faced to the slider. Will post the picture tomorrow.

Have done a Hermes multiple times - but the KAISER is a royal pain to strip down and put back together.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for making the back cover of my i9000 less oily?
I have been using a case for a long time partly because my galaxy back constantly gets oily from my hands, but I really want to go slim and case-free now!

i think a replacement back cover is your best bet
unless you go through the hassle of sanding it down, buffing it up, smoothing it out, painting it... Not worth it, get a new cover. loads to choose from

I had the same problem with hands sweating holding was quite risky. I bought a silicon rubber cover with rough dotted surface which gives you good grip & no marks on the back plate.
Well, you can always put grip tape on it. That will solve the slippery issue and the fingerprint issue.
But it might make a hole in your pocket

Every function has it's own pin so we can solder them in the right place.
The button on this headphone shorts the mic+ and mic-. The mic is a 1k mic (also the same as my old headset so hopes of this working are high.
I'm going to solder them on a TRRS 3.5 jack I got from eBay. I just have to figure out where to put the mic's.
It'll probably be mic- to ground an mic+ to the second ring.
Mic+ should be on the outer sleeve and Mic- and ground have to be on the second ring from the tip.
Colors of the wires for the sony heatset are:
Green: Right
Blue: Left
Black: Mic-
White: Mic+
Outer wires: Ground
It's hard to solder on a TRRS 3.5 jack. Best to have a small tip.

I broke my galaxy tab s sm-t805Y screen so bought a replacement lcd+Digitizer and 3m of 3m adhesive tape from ebay to stick the lcd+digitizer to the main frame.
I heated the tape slightly after putting it on the main frame, pushed the screen down and put around 10kg of books on top for 24hrs.
After using the tablet for 15 minutes the tape slowly comes away from the screen but stays on the frame.
I replaced all the adhesive tape again just incase i messed up but its failed to stick to the back side of the screen. When i touch the tape on the main frame where it sticks to the screen it is very sticky still.
Am i missing or forgetting something?

I suggest using small amounts of loc-tite gel. Use a toothpick to apply small amounts only on the frame. Try just doing the corners and one point in each mid frame area. Be careful not to get any glue on flex cables and circuit board. Loc-tite will release, if needed, with the application of heat to the applied area.
Hey all, I was trying to apply some double sided tape to the bottom of my screen because it was coming a bit loose, and stupidly used metal tweezers to do so. The display turned off for a split second, but turned back on so I thought I was good.
But then, I've noticed that when I turn on the display, horizontal lines sometimes appear. I don't have a 100% repo rate; I can get rid of it by turning the display off and on again (might take a few times though).
However, the right side of my display is always brighter than the left, making a king of ugly brightness gradient on my screen.
Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this without buying a new screen? Thank you!

I should also mention that I had replaced my screen in the past, although it worked perfectly before.
Unfortunately I have to say this screen is most probably a goner. The panel on this device is more fragile than a potato chip!
I cracked mine when it fell on the carpet with cover and protecting glass on. they didnt break but the panel beneath did!
My best suggestion would be getting a new panel and asking a more professional guy to repair it.
