Hey! If I wan't keep encryption at my Lineage OS 17, it only stay at boot loop, until I install DFE-script at TWRP.
Is there any way to keep encryption on, without needs run that script and don't stay at bootloop?
I suppose you could format data and then boot?

Yes I tried format everything and then re-flash Lineage OS without flash DFE, results is boot loop :/

That was the solution, when I realize that I can boot after Format Data
Thank you!

Hi ,
I am not a noob, but yesterday out of curiosity flashed the flyme build in the unified section. However, after the TWRP reboot to system, it did not boot. So tried to reboot the recovery and success. But the villian was there, encryption password. I tried giving my phone PIN, it said wrong password.
After half an hour, i installed the stock image(3.5.1) using the msm tool. Well it booted fine and phone is usable. Unlocked the bootloader and flashed the latest TWRP,.
The villian is back, asking for password. Now it is taking any password, always say wrong password. Ok in case i skip the decrypt screen, i cannot access the sdcard to flash new rom.
Is this the end of story of my op3t?
Have you tried "default_password"?

Tried everything. The phone boots into OOS 3.5.1 after msm tool flash without password. Even it behaves very well. Only after the TWRP installation. It is stuck for password. I think its end of story.

Then I don't know... Usually if TWRP suddenly starts asking for a password without having set one, using "default_password" will work.
You could try flashing a kernel that disables forced encryption and then format data to unencrypt.
You have to make sure to restore system to the version using the same encryption libraries as used the last time you could decrypt the data partition. If all fails you will have to format your data partition and loose it all.

I have already lost the data. TWRP not allowing me to enter the sdcard storage to flash anything. Can u brief me how to format the data partition.
Just bootup phone into fastboot mode from the unlocked bootloader menu, then connect to PC and run "fastboot format userdata" from a path with either fastboot in or anywhere of you've added the folder with fastboot in you PATH variable.

Did this. But after should i flash the stock image again? Because system is not booting and stuck in oneplus logo.
How about fastboot erase options?
I disabled encryption one year ago to avoid this problem, and therefore have never experienced it. But why don't you do a compete MSM restore? That should restore even the data partition.

Let me try once i go home and update u. Thanks for the response..
Will format the data from fastboot. and flash the stock image. Hope this works.
Finally happened to work.
Installed a different version twrp made the trick. But this time i erased the recovery and flashed again. After that wiped all the data and then sideloaded the rom from adb and it did the trick..

You do this by flashing the latest no-verity-opt-encrypt zip file after formatting the data partition and also after each update of the OS.
https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip
I'm installing xiaomi.eu 8.10.18 on my xiaomi mi8 (dipper)
I can enter twrp recovery normally
After factory reset in twrp, install the zip, clear the dalvik/cache, reboot to system
the phone just stays on the screen with a MI logo and a android logo and 3 loading dots.(approximately 15 minutes already)
Had I done something wrong?

what's the difference between format and wipe data anyway?
I though that the only difference is that format will also delete internal storage

Everytime I boot into recovery it asks for my pin lock code. Entering my pin everytime into the recovery is mildly irritating. Anyway to remove this?
Do I have format data everytime I flash a new rom? It is a pain to backup my data everytime to a PC when flashing a new rom.

It's a minor inconvenience for the security of your personal data in the phone.

You don't need to format data unless you want to remove encryption, but it's advisable to at least wipe data.
When wiping data TWRP will leave the external storage intact (even though external storage is stored in the data partition). So app and ROM data is lost, but personal data is kept.
When you format data, then personal data in external storage is lost too.

Is there no way to remove it? The thing is I don't want encryption. I saw a file on K20 Pro telegram group named FCrypt Disabler which disables force encryption. Will that do the trick? When should I flash that file?

Are you on official MIUI?
If you're on a custom ROM, then after formatting data you should remain unencrypted without needing to do anything else.

Sorry, I'm forgetting that is now standard to encrypt the phone automatically when setting a PIN for unlocking. Try the script linked in the bottom of this post to disable encryption permanently.

If I used pattern unlock instead of pin it wouldn't have encrypted the rom?
In the linked thread it says to format data and then flash the file. Suppose I want to install a new rom.
The current process for this phone is:
1. Flash MIUI Chinese rom.
2. Wipe everything except vendor and internal storage.
3. Flash rom of choice and gapps.
4. Format data.
5. Boot the device.
At which step should I flash that file? Flashing the decryption file is after formatting data (step 4), right?
What if I already am on a custom rom? Flashing the file would decrypt the rom or not?
Sorry for asking so many questions. The previous device I had was Redmi Note 4 (mido) so it wasn't necessary to do all these things.

My previous phone was a OnePlus 3, and so this was never an issue with that. After that phone had a fatal accident I had a Redmi 6a for 3 months while I waited for a an all screen with SD855 to be released. All I did with that was install TWRP and Magisk. So I've never actually tried to permanently remove encryption, so don't take what I'm saying as definite.
Not all ROMs require you to format data. I'm on the AOSiP ROM and it wasn't required. I'll move to the Havoc ROM soon, and again it's not required to format data.
My understanding is that you will have an unencrypted phone, even after setting a pin, after flashing that script, so I assume that it would be unnecessary to format data where a ROM install instruction tells you to. This is usually done to ensure the data partition is unencrypted before flashing.
I think setting a pattern also encrypts the phone. I have seen a guide on how to replicate the pattern using the keyboard in TWRP, but can't find it again now.

Get the appropriate firmware and vendor file for your phone from here https://downloads.akhilnarang.dev/MIUI/raphael
Flashing this will remove the effects of the script.

I'm running resurrection remix Android 10 on OnePlus 7t pro, formatted data still data partition is encrypted. Recovery: OrangeFox
I'm having a big problem. I've had to unbrick my Mi11 ultra 5 times with the miflash tool because every time I flash the custom rom through TWRP it complete then reboots with no OS. I copy the rom to the phone. Go in to TWRP and then I go to install and find the zip file. I choose it and it goes through the process but it still reboots into TWRP with no OS. I've tried it with and without root with Magisk. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! Please help. Here is the link for the ROM I'm trying to use https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586336463
Format data after flashing the EU ROM.
The first time you load the system, the screen will stay a loooong time with the MIUI logo; don't panic and be patient.
Hope it works for you.
Regards.
Yes, as above. If you don't format data with the confirmation of yes in the twrp wipe menu, it will alway go back to twrp.
The reason is that when you change kernal branch, there may be partition differences between them. A format clears out old data crossing the new partition layout and allows boot.

Buddy as best try to flash over Fastboot, then after that install TWRP and mount all partitions. Then klick wipe-- factory reset and wipe and after that format data with confirm yes. after that you need to install inject TWRP inject. You can find it in ADVANCED. After that klick fix Contexts. And reboot.
After that the OS will reinstall . Try it, that will work 100%

That is not enough, you MUST format data after installing a new rom to remove the old encryption.
With starting up the new installed rom, new encryption will be done again.
