How much time did your RMA take? - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

I sent out my Razer Phone 2 for RMA on November 8th and it got to Razer on the 12th. Now we're a whole month in on December 12th and I still haven't gotten it back. I've contacted them several times only to hear that they've reached out to their "RMA Team" and are awaiting a response. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

my unit is awesome, may i ask why you asked for RMA? But yeah, that much wait seems like a painfull user support

The battery life was severely degraded and there aren't any replacement batteries available yet on the internet. Last night I finally got an email that the replacement was being shipped out but it's being sent by UPS Ground and I live across the country from there so it'll be another week until it gets here.

Anyone else in the same boat? Have you gotten the email from the escalation team yet? If so, how long did it take for them to contact you?
I am still waiting for the email the rep on the phone told me about last night. I explained that my speaker is too low compared to my GFs N7 and he mentioned a lot of people were complaining about this with the 16GB versions (go figure). He said that they'll ship me a new one and will send packaging labels to return this one. He said I should expect an email from Google some time this week and after that they'll send me the replacement with 1-day shipping. Is this accurate?
At least I can play around with the N7 for the time being. However, it's quite annoying knowing ill have to redo all my setup again. Só many apps, layout changes, settings changes, etc.
Oh well...
PS - Today at work I compared the screens between my 16GB and my coworkers 8GB and his was noticeably brighter when maxed out. Weird and sad that there is another thing I need to worry about now. I guess I expected these QC issues from Asus as an original Transformer owner.

I don't really mind the wait for my replacement. I just want some confirmation that they'll indeed be doing it. Don't want to run out of my grace period without getting to test out the second unit.

6pm tonight will be 48 hrs since I contacted them, I don't have high hopes of getting a proper 2nd email.
I called them on Tues about the lifted screen and I got an email from them earlier today about getting a replacement. It seems that I will have to order a new unit (my card will be AUTH but not charged) and then the replacement in. They need to get the device within 21 days so that my card doesn't get charged. I've already placed the order through a special URL and now just waiting to see when they will ship.

Oh, I completely understand. Mostly just poking fun anyway
I ordered early but changed it from 8 to 16gb on the 12th, so I have another week to go. They wouldnt honor my original order date despite giving them more money.
I'm too busy looking for a job anyway. Seems veterans aren't as quickly hired as I had previously thought.
I waited 48 still no reply. I tried to call they tel have to wait for escalation team.

I contacted them on Tuesday sadly only a few hours after getting my N7. My speaker is defective as well, and like you said when I brought it up they mentioned its been coming up lately. Same deal, told me they would ship out a new one for me within 24hrs however they didn't mention anything about 1 day shipping. That would be great.
Just under 24hrs later last night I received two emails back including the return shipping label info and another with a link to a custom play store checkout with my 16gb replacement. I put in my order via the link they gave me but I was greeted with an error on the next page, however I promptly received an email confirming my order so I guess it went through anyways.
All that's left now is waiting to see when it ships..
I hope it's soon.

I was wondering if my 16GB version suffered from low volume levels. I'm still on the fence about it. That would be the only possible defect my device has.

I just received the email from google. They sent me a RMA and a prepaid shipping label. There's also a link to have them send me a replacement unit.
The link takes me to my google wallet account, with a new 16 GB in the cart. They don't charge shipping or tax, but put a hold for $249 on your credit card. I have 21 days to return the defective Nexus 7.
I'm a little worried that I am basically buying a new Nexus 7, and not getting priority over someone who ordered today. If I have to wait 3-4 weeks, I will feel like google mislead me about this Nexus 7 replacement process.

Same thing through office Depot. They do next day shipping though but they do that ludicrous credit card hold. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard of and makes me not want to order online anymore. Walking into a store you don't pay shipping nor get a hold on your card. Very very inconvenient.

My issue is that there are many other online vendors that handle things fine... mainly Amazon.com. How google is handling this issue is terrible. "oh man, phones are getting flooded, TAKE DOWN THE SUPPORT NUMBER FROM OUR WEBSITE"
I have said this in other threads.... This is the last time I ever buy a device straight from google. Hardware issues can't be their fault 100%, stuff happens... It's how they are handling the problems that is frustrating.

This is what they told me that would happen. I'm still waiting for the RMA email but at least they are sending them out.
Bad news if you're technically buying a new one at zero price. Here in the UK, they've said that pre orders from June 30th are shipping next week, so I'm looking at a week Monday shipment at the earliest. Over a month since the initial order!
On a related note, just how low is this "low speaker volume" problem? I'd say mine isn't the loudest tablet ever, and now I'm wondering if it's possible to get one with louder volume. I have a tiny bit of screen separation and was going to keep mine (everything else is fine, and my screen's just the tiniest bit higher on the left than the right). However, if the volume is lower than it should be...
Also, anybody notice headphone volume also isn't very loud? Just loud enough to be acceptable, but not loud enough to be too loud. I'm used to devices starting to get too loud at about 75%.

I did receive all the emails in regards to the exchange, I'm just waiting on any sort of shipping notice. The only thing that bothers me is I checked my card and I have 3 pending charges from the play store in the amount of the tablet. Not just one, I know I won't be charged if I return the defective unit in 21 days but why 3 charges?

My order still says Nov 13 and shipping estimate 15th. Would it kill them to update it?
Everytime I call in they say it's still "processing". I am under the impression that lots of people get stuck in processing and forgotten about. Thinking about calling CSR and asking them to refer me to a specialist so I can get my shipping estimate updated at least for christ' sake.

Same here mine has been changed to the 19th but we still don't know what that means and I have a bad feeling that we will be waiting for at least a week and a half while others schedule enjoy the new shiny toy over the holiday.
Ordered exactly at 12pm EST, and I got back ordered. Its insane. I don't know how people were still allowed to order afterwards if they already didn't have enough phones in stock.

Yeah I am in the same boat as both of you. While I did lie to a service rep yesterday and told them I did not get the BO email and they said they sent my case to a specialist, so we will see if anything comes out of that.

The last time mine was updated was the 13th, which makes it seem like they're not even bothering with it anymore :crying:

just found out that the temporary authorization on my account is gone as of this morning.
im now suicidal.
It's getting so frustrating that at times I want to just cancel but I know that I might regret that since I already have a purchase order from Google. She received a email with a information that it will be shipped in the next week.
She will go back to brazil in december 15 and bring it to me.

When she purchased? I ask because I read some comments right here on XDA that Google is taking beyond what they are telling us emails sent to buyers and new buyers will have to wait between four to five weeks to get their hands on the device.
My wife have one Nexus S and i sold my Galaxy Nexus to buy a Nexus 4. I will get it from Germany but only in january.

She bought just when it has launched, November 13, and after 3 days Google sent an email with a backorder information ("your order is in backorder and it will be shipped in 3 weeks") ...
Now they told it will be shipped on next week (i believe on monday) lets wait now..

I also bought one with the help of a friend! Order placed in 28th of november. With the 3~5 weeks estimated delivery date, probably I'll get it just in 2013.
Very anxious about it, since I'm still using my Nexus S, which is very slow nowadays.

The phone seems to be very good, and I didn't notice any of the issues people talked so much over the net... excepted for a connection instability when on wifi.
Any of you guys knows something about this issue?

What kind of instability you say?
I see a LOT of threads(xda, code forum, google groups etc) about wifi problems!
I have no wifi issue, but a 3g bug. When I turns on data connection, the 3g wont connect, and the bars still gray. But after, reboot phone, or do the airplane trick(or another tricks) the data connection turns on. It's very annoying to do always the same 'tricks' to get a data connection. I already tried everything(apn, factory reset, pray.....)..... just waiting a google update to fix this(and other) bugs....:crying:

Bad news for anyone who is waiting for a warranty exchange on their Nexus 4.

As I know there are many of us out there with defective handsets I thought I should pass this on. I originally received my nexus 4 on 11/29 (defective of course), I called the next day to order a warranty replacement and was told the process and that the estimated ship date was less than one week. This was actually stated on my receipt as well. After receiving no information by 12/7 I called to check on my exchanges status only to be told an error was made on my exchange request but they corrected it and it would ship at the latest by Tuesday, 12/11.
Soooo, I call today since still no word and I was told a specialist would research my order and update me directly within 48 hours. Now the clincher, this is what the specialist sent me:
"Hi again D____ ,
I've received a response from the specialist. Due to high demand, replacements for the Nexus 4 are being delayed in shipping out. The current estimate is that they will ship in 3-5 weeks.*I'm sincerely sorry for the inconvenience."
So, how do you like them apples?

I had some SIM card reader issues, eventually got around to activating a new SIM to confirm my issues..still didn't work, so I called Nexus support this Monday night. They filed an RMA. The phone was shipped out Tuesday morning via 2-day air and arrived today. I am shipping my old one back tomorrow.
I hate to say it, but I think you got unlucky (I was very afraid I was going to have to wait weeks as well).
Yeah that'd really unlucky i got my RMA 3 days after I called. But at least u can hold onto the original till the replacement ships

When you do the rma, do they charge you for the second until they get the defect back? I really need to send mine in due to the charger port working maybe 50% of the time but can't have another 400$ tied up with Google that long again.

no, they will not do that. once ups gets it, google is informed.
OP if you check your nexus 4 status it'll say preorder. I got the same issue as you. Still waiting on Google to ship. I called them up asking about the the 21 days to return the defective unit if I don't receive my replacement in time. They said I'll still be charged even if they can't send it out in time. Her name isf Emily ( or Emilia ).
It's because of some idiots doing exchanges for stupid reasons. Know a guy who did one because he has a scratch on the back of the phone

OK a bit off topic..I ordered a N4 off ebay(unused/factory sealed) and should be here tomorrow.If, heavens forbid, the phone is defective am i still covered by google?/ in that case who do i contact for a warranty exchange??!
Seller doesn't accept returns and says under the product description "if there is any problem with the phone you go deal with google directly"
I called Monday about starting an RMA, was told by the CSR (Katie) that I would receive an email about it. I thought it was strange she didn't ask me to do a survey, and she was pretty much uninterested the entire call. I gave it till today, then decided to phone back in and see if I had indeed been started with an RMA. Shocker, I had not. Morgan, who was quite helpful, started up the RMA right away. I got my email and the cart to order the RMA, etc. If Google thinks they're holding a $349 authorization charge on my card for 3-5 weeks, they're ****ing high.
Let us know if you get any updated info.

Indeed! Keep in mind too that the warranty is only for the original buyer and not transferable.

I ordered an RMA replacement yesterday, just got my shipping confirmation and tracking number today.
Does anyone know if this will be stuck at the same yellow screen for another week, just like usual? Or does it actually ship?
If you're lucky it gets updated the same day, as I've seen. If you're unlucky you may get it tomorrow, or get lost in the abyss. Here's to hoping for you.

[Q] Tmobile note 4 replacment quality

Hello I pre-ordered galaxy note 4 and its having issues. The phone doesnt charge properly...i have to plug it in and out couple times for the phone to recognize that it is connected to charger and "dock is connected" notification is keep coming up..so i called tmobile and since warranty is issued, they are going to send out a replacement. My comcern is that they are probably going to send a refurb without any accessories right? I heard some rare instances they send out brand new but most likely its refurb. Anyone has an experience with tmobile refurbs? Are they any good or bad?

They probably don't have any refurbished units yet, so you may get a new one. Have got tried another charger? I've seen a couple reports of the adaptive chargers failing.
I will let you know, my replacement is due to be delivered 2nd Dec ( I ordered it earlier today from 611 ). I will check and it and post back for you. I know it sucks to get a refurbed but so long as I dont get one that was rejected by another XDA forum, then I should be good to go HAHAH

yes i have my wife got the same phone so tried her charger on my phone and my charger on her phone and its my phone that is having issues. Rep told me that i might be getting a new one but the terms are "brand new or like new" so he has no idea but when he was going through instruction he said it will come with no accessories. .idk if he is reading written terms or telling me i am getting a refurb...

Right fair enough. They said that as I didn't have "insurance" then it would be regular 7day ground delivery. Which will take me over my 14 day refund time frame. Shame but such is life.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was with AT&T they swapped out my GS4 at one of their authorized repair centers. The IMEI label on the back was different to the original one as it didn't have the Samsung logo on it so was definitely a refurbished unit. But worked well.
The T Mobile rep mentioned the same stuff to me as well. Saying it will be just the phone minus battery etc. But she did mention that it was coming directly from the manufacturer whoever that is in T Mobiles language maybe Assurion or Samsung?
My current build date according to the box is 11/5/14 previous to that it was 11/4/14. Made in crappy Vietnam. My perfect note 3 was made in prestigious China haha.

I had mine replaced due to screen inconsistencies. My replacement was brand new & made in Vietnam on 10/23. I think it's still too early for them to have refurb units.

Rumor has it that its approx 2 months before refurbs are ready after initial launch by Samsung.
Either way, does anyone know if the refurbed Galaxy phones are proceeded by a third party vendor for and behalf of t mobile or are they done by the manufacturer Samsung?

Defective phones our sent to tmobile, and then there sent off to Samsung to repair and certify, and then sent back to tmobile.

Thanks. The t mobile tech support person mentioned that the device is coming directly from the manufacturer. I take what you say in higher value than what they say. We all know they read of a script.

Lol Yea bro..That's 99% of them,every once in a while you'll get 1 that knows a little something.
Well I can vouch for that. First rep insisted I goto store for replacement and then when she finally realized I wasn't wanting to take that route told me they had no stock LOL. The very same rep also told me to just send my Cel Fi signal booster back without a return label. Glad I didn't listen to her as the second rep needed the imei of the signal booster and created me a return label. That could have cost me $500.

Right now I'm going through issue with my first returned note 4,sent to there fort worth,TX return center and they still haven't said nothing to me about receiving it,even tho ups tracking shows signed and delivered.They had to credit my account 31.50 because I have 2 note 4 on my account right now,because returned device hasn't been dropped off my account, it's going on 2 weeks now.
