Hi everyone, I bought a Galaxy A30 a few months ago, and I have noticed after playing Call of Duty that when playing the screen lowers automatically its bright from one moment to another. At first I tought it was some game related bug, because when lowering the notificacions panel the screen bright still marks the top level. After a few days I noticed this started to happen in another apps like instagram, suddenly the screen lowers like 30% of it brightness and I try to move the brightness bar to a lower level and go back to full to see it it goes back to normal, but even with the bar at full it stays like that, darker, with a very clear difference from the full bright of five minutes ago. I know there is an option for auto brightening wich was always disabled, and if it was caused by that option, the brightness bar should also lower and not staying at the top as it does now.
The thing is that whenever this happen, I get used slowly to the new amount of bright and cannot tell if it goes back to normal or WHEN it goes back to normal. If it does, its pretty gradually because I dont notice it. There seem to be nothing in common between the cases, this doesn't happen when charging or something like that, happens anytime..
Does anyone knows what can be causing this?

Hey guys. By now, I'm sure most of you are probably familiar with the screen alignment issue (where, sometimes when you go to click on something, it clicks something above or below and is about 1/3 of an inch off).
Well, I've noticed something on my device and was wondering if anybody else has had the same experience. If I have the screen brightness all the way down, I can use the screen for quite some time before this happens. Then, I just hit the power button, put it to sleep, and then wake it back up and the problems corrected. What's weird is, if I have the brightness all the way up (like when I'm outside on a sunny day), it takes far less time for the misalignment issue to show it's ugly face.
Basically, what this says to me is that it might be related to a heat issue from the screen itself. Just wondering what everybody else has noticed.

Yes I have notice it too with the same setting but didn't think much of it and just put it to sleep and woke it up and worked after that.
dont know if its a heat issue, my phone is always on 0% brightness and it still randomly happens.
I bought a Tab P1010 a fortnight ago. Generally been happy with it, but I've noticed something thats begining to annoy.
Just prior to going into standby, the backlight level drops slightly before going off. That seems to be the normal way things work.
However, on mine, the level goes to that stage randomly. Touching the screen may bring it back up after 5 seconds or so, but not straight away. And it happens even when I'm scrolling the screen and there has been activity going on.
Any idea?
Or have I got a return on my hands?
do you have "auto" set on your brightness?
I find when i have brightness set to auto it can go duller or brighter seemingly at random (particularly irritating if im reading)
i mostly manage my brightness level myself
Dont know if this is related to your issue ... good luck

lol I feel such a fool!
I was fully aware of the auto back light setting and had already set it to the unchecked.
However at the weekend, I did a full factory reset. All settings had gone. However, it does show up how useless that setting is as the changes seem very random!
Cheers for the reminder.
Hello everybody, I have the following "visual effect". It happens roughly 50% of the times the display switches off. It doesn't matter if it is by it self, by the power button or by a software button. In the very moment when the display switches off, a greenish dot in the center of the display flicks for a split second, along with a same color vertical line trough the whole screen. Obviously it is not supposed to be this way Beside this issue, there is no other problems with the display or the phone( for now). What do you think about this? Thanks in advance
Sounds like a screen off CRT effect, check you tube to see if that is your problem
Isn't the CRT effect a horizontal white line ending up in a dot?
I genuinely think the OP's screen may be defective...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
do a lcd test and check if all pixels are working ok
Unfortunately it is not a CRT effect, although it looks a bit like it. The difference is, that the line and the dot( little spot) appear simultaneously for a fraction of a second. In a daylight it is hard to see it, even more it happens just 50% of the times, but not every other time. Its somewhat random.
The *#0*# test do not show much. No dead pixels. On blue you cant see anything, on green and red I think I see a little bit darker spot in the center of the screen( where the dot/spot appears), but there are such darker sports and elsewhere on the screen.
BTW, I noticed recently, that when the screens dims a bit shortly before switching off, this dimming happens not so smooth. How should I say it... it happens on a several steps, although the whole thing is done in less then a second, it is not so fluid. Is it supposed to be this way?
Thanks for your help guys
have u tried flashing a different rom stock
I am on the latest German stock 4.0.4, tried several others, including 2.3.6. .Currently with Hydra kernel. No difference whatsoever. I think the auto-brightness doesnt work so good. When set on fixed value it dims more fluidly.
if u on stock rom and not rooted then take it to a service center
I am using Z3+ single with Nagasaki 1.5 ROM
Especially when web surfing with Chrome, phone suddenly gets a bit dimmed(and go back to usual brightness again).
It is not the same as hot-phone-dimming, cause it does not restrict to change brightness back high or dimming smooth like the heat related dimming.
It dims right away, not like the smooth-sony-style.
Does anyone has same problem, or know how to fix it?
I have it, and I tought that my screen is buggy, I'm using stock rom tho, how can we fix that, Adaptive brightness is turned off?
Hi
I recently had my Huawei P30 Pro fixed and the screen brightness is terrible. When outside, even if cloudy, you struggle to read the screen.
This was definitely not the case before I had the screen and battery replaced. (was 3 years old, and the screen had some moisture in it from a very rainy hike). The phone shop (not Huawei, as outside of warranty) said they used official Huawei parts.
I barely notice a difference between brightness halfway and brightness to full when I adjust it manually. It doesn't even detect that it needs to put the brightness on full automatically when I'm outside, which is strange.
Any ideas?
this is interesting. I have been having this same problem as well. With mine, if I wake it from lock in the sun, it will work perfectly, super bright and readable, but only for like 15 seconds, then the brightness slider goes down to about 75% and it is almost unreadable. If I try to manually put the slider back to 100% there is no change to the brightness. Very similar to your problem, there is no difference in brightness between 75-100%.
If i lock the screen for about a minute and open it back.. boom 100% fully bright for another 15 seconds.
Mine started giving this problem before I had to open it up to change the microphone, so I'm not sure if it's happening with firmware on only certain panels? This has been happening to me since July 2021, so no firmware releases have fixed the problem.
