Screen brightness on replacement is poor - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi
I recently had my Huawei P30 Pro fixed and the screen brightness is terrible. When outside, even if cloudy, you struggle to read the screen.
This was definitely not the case before I had the screen and battery replaced. (was 3 years old, and the screen had some moisture in it from a very rainy hike). The phone shop (not Huawei, as outside of warranty) said they used official Huawei parts.
I barely notice a difference between brightness halfway and brightness to full when I adjust it manually. It doesn't even detect that it needs to put the brightness on full automatically when I'm outside, which is strange.
Any ideas?

this is interesting. I have been having this same problem as well. With mine, if I wake it from lock in the sun, it will work perfectly, super bright and readable, but only for like 15 seconds, then the brightness slider goes down to about 75% and it is almost unreadable. If I try to manually put the slider back to 100% there is no change to the brightness. Very similar to your problem, there is no difference in brightness between 75-100%.
If i lock the screen for about a minute and open it back.. boom 100% fully bright for another 15 seconds.
Mine started giving this problem before I had to open it up to change the microphone, so I'm not sure if it's happening with firmware on only certain panels? This has been happening to me since July 2021, so no firmware releases have fixed the problem.

Is your Super AMOLED screen still working properly ?

hi guys,
Is your Super AMOLED screen still working properly ?
how long did you own your phone ?
Have my phone for 8 or 9 months, still going strong, nothing funny and no burn-in.
I use the screen mostly at low brightness.
I have the idea that JVH/2.3.3 has lower brightness, or it is just the brighter days in summer. But it is not burn in as there is no pattern.
Works perfect here.. No issue at all after 8 months. ther eis 24 months warranty so.. got some time for it to get crap and turn it in if it does. =)
All good here. 11 months, no burn in, no colour problems. Generally use lowest brightness settings. Perhaps flashing roms/themes on a weeklyish basis, helps prevent burn in.
Of course, why do you ask?
As far as burn-in (burn-out) if I display a solid blue screen I can see where the AM/PM used to be (before I turned the clock to 24hr) and some small 'smudges' where the other status icons are. Not a big deal.
Different themes would probably help, especially if there was less blue in the status icons (green or orange instead of white) since it burns out faster.
Time burnt in .....bought it like that

status bar and time burnt in when displaying on white screen.. bought used though.. also keyboard is shown very lightly.. but doesnt bother me much though..
I've had mine for 10 months and so far no burn in.
I'm interested to know though, what causes the burn in's?
I've had mine for about 10 months, medium brightness most of times, sometimes max brightness.
Clock is a little burned in screen and sometimes I can see the swype keyboard keys on very white and bright backgrounds.
about ±7 months already...still nothing weird ... still no screen burn in detected.. and nothing unusual...
when stay in house/office = lowest brightness... when outside/driving = maximum brightness..
I don't use brightness. Screen is practically brand new. Screen protector since day 1
Fasty Captivate
I think the app, NoLED causes burn ins.

Used for about an year now. Mainly auto-brightness all the time. Mostly portrait mode. With white display occasionally I may see taskbar contour on the top. Not seen when watching videos in landscape mode.5 star for this display after heavy use.

The time is burning in on mine, visible barely only with blue screen. 5 months.

Unlikely. The notifications appear all over the place and move frequently specifically to prevent burnin
13 months
auto- brightness
looks completely fine to me
Having my SGS for 7 months now,no reported burn in or screen problems.! The phone is a beast.
1 year now,no problems at all
How long do you thing that Amoled screen will last ?
i have mine just over a year now and like others I have burn-in where the notification bar is but nothing else....
Does anybody know if the warranty would cover the burn-in??
13 months, still working great.

Screen brightness bug under diffused sunlight (as in when put on a car mount)

I use my phone regularly for navigation with waze. One thing that is really annoys me is that when it's really sunny and bright outside, the phone display dims down to minimum brightness level. Brightness doesn't change even if I touched the screen. If I cover up the (brightness sensor?) on the top left part of the phone, the screen is bright again.. It seems like diffuse sunlight is causing some sort of weird thing with that sensor. I tried to point a flashlight directly on the sensor and the display brightens like it should. Only when there is diffuse sunlight, it does this weird behavior.
Anyone else seen this?
EDIT: I am on 5.1 leaked soak test. I am pretty sure I had the same thing happen when on stock 5.0
I've had that happen on other phones by different manufacturers as well. Very annoying, the only fix I had was to just disable auto brightness.
Such a good feature, but haphazardly implemented it seems.

[Q] Droid 4 backlight failure on automatic brightness.

Hello!
I wonder if anyone had this issue. Yesterday suddenly the backlight of my XT894 started to act weirdly. When i pressed the unlock button, the screen would go very bright and then shut off after 2-3 seconds, but I still could swype the unlock screen and hear the unlock click, even with the dark screen. With a little bit of external light I could see the image was there, but the backlight of the screen was not on. I went on to the power shortcuts and disabled the Automatic brightness control, and as soon as I did that the display turned on, very dimly but it turned on. When I set the brightness control to maximum, it still is very low. If i set the brightness to minimum, its almost impossible to see anything. In display settings, the automatic brightness is unchecked and the brightness fader is set to maximum.
I started suspecting the light sensor, so I went ahead and downlaoded a sensor tester app, and the light sensor appeared to be reporting the light levels correctly - low readings in the dark, and much higher readings in direct light.
Is my phone backlight dying? Any idea if this might be due to defective mainboard, or the display itself?
I already did some repairing on the phone myself, so I am comfortable dissassembling it and changing parts. Few months ago I changed the main board because my old one had a broken usb connector, and it worked fine until now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Konstantin
If I remember right, by default, the maximum auto-brightness is still lower than actual maximum, so if the screen can barely be seen at manual max, it makes sense that the screen is pretty much unviewable with auto on.
Idea:
If you have it installed, boot into Safestrap and see if your brightness is normal.
If not, pull up the diagnostic menu (hold Vol - while powering on iirc, might be Vol - and +).
If your brightness is normal in those, it's probably something gone wonky in Android. If not, your screen backlight might be going and needs replaced. I don't think there's anything on the mainboard that would cause it, aside from the circuitry actually supplying power to the backlight...
Screen replacement actually isn't terrible for the D4, if it comes to that, since it's not fused to the glass (like certain single-piece phones for example...*sideways glance at the S3*).
Hello!
Thank you for your reply!
Effectively something is very wrong with the device. Today I woke up to find it completely unresponsive, had to turn it off by holding the power button for a while. When it turned on again, the whole screen was white with glitchy color lines since the very reboot, and nothing else happens, couldnt even turn it off without unscrewing the battery.
I will put the old main board to see if the other one died.
Thank you again!
Best regards,
Konstantin

Honor 9 lite screen dimming and flickering

Whenever i use my phone, its screen brightness dims (Adaptive brightness is OFF) and when i pressure the top right part of the screen the screen gets normal for a while. I've tried to get it fixed from service center 2 times but the problem comes back after few weeks. I've also found out that if i press the top-left part of the screen, it dims the screen brightness. Can someone tell me what the problem is.. Is it some loose wiring or is it damaged display?

GALAXY A30 Screen brightness problem

Hi everyone, I bought a Galaxy A30 a few months ago, and I have noticed after playing Call of Duty that when playing the screen lowers automatically its bright from one moment to another. At first I tought it was some game related bug, because when lowering the notificacions panel the screen bright still marks the top level. After a few days I noticed this started to happen in another apps like instagram, suddenly the screen lowers like 30% of it brightness and I try to move the brightness bar to a lower level and go back to full to see it it goes back to normal, but even with the bar at full it stays like that, darker, with a very clear difference from the full bright of five minutes ago. I know there is an option for auto brightening wich was always disabled, and if it was caused by that option, the brightness bar should also lower and not staying at the top as it does now.
The thing is that whenever this happen, I get used slowly to the new amount of bright and cannot tell if it goes back to normal or WHEN it goes back to normal. If it does, its pretty gradually because I dont notice it. There seem to be nothing in common between the cases, this doesn't happen when charging or something like that, happens anytime..
Does anyone knows what can be causing this?
