Hej,
as the Xiaomi Mi 8 supports project treble.
Can I just download a ROM from here and flash it?
Thank You very much
On the Redmi 4x you need a treble enable TWRP. Dont know if the Redmi is officially suppported by treble.
Maybe we can just flash with TWRP. Have to wait another 300 hours to try :/
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is a treble device, at least it was told that any device which is released with oreo running supports it. Also the treble check app says it supports is. (Only A partition) which seems to be normal with xiaomi devices
So I just flashed this ROM.
Seems, that Lineage does not yet know a notch
I hope that maybe android auto runs without the black borders... then I am gonna switch
Android auto runs on this ROM, but all those other problems... bad photo, screen brightness locked at 50%...

Any other issues?
Could not find a decent Camera app, the one installed is without hdr or portrait ... just basic photography.
Could not find a working Gcam for example

i think gcam had to be modded to work.
Did anyone try flashing a GSI on the Mi 8 SE?
I was told by a couple of people that flashing any GSI image on the SE caused a soft brick, so can anyone please confirm or disprove this?

Would you mind sharing your experience? What about fingerprint, and other hardware parts does everything work? Is it snappy? I'm really surprised it just works! Just amazing eagerly waiting for mine :>
Screen brightness is nailed to 50% and it cannot be changed, also Livedisplay does not work.
Also the just basic camera was a problem.
Hi, have been wanting to get the Mi 8 for a while as I prefer it over the Oneplus 6, but I was wondering when would a custom ROM actually come out for this phone? Or any idea on some sort of time span? As I'm not keen on using the MIUI and would rather have like the Pixel Experience or something stock instead with the spec and the camera of the Mi 8.
I think active development is starting after Android P is released.
Android P does have notch compatibly so the os will function normally.
Anyway, give it some time this device is a few weeks old mostly development starts after some months.
BTW I moved from a Oneplus 6 to a Xiaomi Mi 8!

Whats your opinion of them both?
The haptic feedback on the Mi 8 is massively better, and I like the camera on the Mi 8 more and the size.
I had a few ago a note 4 got much fun of it, and I went away from Xiaomi because the lcd quality was horrible.
So since the Mi 8 has a amoled Samsung panel it was a insta buy for me.

well i think mi8 is a nice phone
but wont give up my op6 for it
Waiting till kernel sources will be out for dipper ... thats the only thing that is left to start building
The handset does not appear to have been launched in its Global variant yet. I think this is part of the slow development.
Got home tonight and my new phone and case were waiting for me
Curious how do I enroll this phone in the Android 12 beta? I checked the Google beta page, and it only showed my old Pixel 4 XL on the list, which is already on the beta, not my new 5a as an option.
Does Google need to flip a switch or something to activate the 5a on their servers? Phones comes with the June security patch, and running system update doesn't find the latest update. And this phone is not on the Android beta 12 program yet, doesn't show up.
Wake up Google.
It looks like the 5a isn't supported yet which is a bummer.
I think they are looking at the overheating problem BEFORE they allow any BETA access. If you're running a BETA and the phone overheats it will be much harder to determine the actual cause. Better to fix it properly 1st.

My guess is we won't, cuz rumor has it they're close to a stable build now, if not already attained?
P.S.S. I think they have a stable, hence the 5a release & with Pixel 6's on deck!

Yep, I could live with that...I can't stop eyeballing reddit thinking I'm gonna find some gold over there about a line-in on a bootleg(leaked)beta build for us 5a-er's!

That sounds right...I haven't had the heat-up scenario with my 5a but did on my 4a 5G and while beta banging! That would be tight if we get a crack at it soon, cuz you know a stable has got to be just around the corner with us getting into September and all?!
Has anyone else not been able to update to the final release of Android 12 from the Beta? My understanding was it was released a few weeks ago but I am still showing updated when I check. Hopefully it's obvious by the forum but it's a Pixel 4 XL. Any help is appreciated.
Hey, I am not on the beta program and I didn't get android 12 yet, still android 11 with October security patch on my Google Pixel 4 XL.

The first stable version of Android 12 for Pixel phones has not been released yet. On Oct. 4 they released Android 12 for AOSP, but not for Pixel phones. Google said, on October 4, that the release for Pixels would be in a "few weeks'. So it should be coming soon.
I believe they may launch android 12 today with the introduction of the new Pixel 6 series

Thanks for the heads up. I did a ton of google searching but couldn't find a damn thing. I guess it won't matter much after today anyway when I order my 6 Pro, lol. Thanks for the quick reply, very much appreciated.
Pixel 6 pro seems to be a very good phone, though I am not going back from Motion Sense gestures and face unlock from my Pixel 4 XL.

One of the recent leaks suggested that the Pro version would have both in display fingerprint and face unlock. I guess we'll find out today if it's true. Not sure about Motion Sense though.

I don't use motion sense at all. And I fly about 150 legs a year, and as of right now obviously, I'm constantly wearing a damn mask, so face unlock has gotten to be a pain in the ass. I'm really looking forward to having a fingerprint again.
Well in your case it don't seem it don't to be very useful. I use motion sense every day for music and I am planning to unlock the bootloader and use an app to create more custom gestures for motion sense. Also, as I enjoy cooking this is very handy as I usually have dirty fingers

Be careful as this is untested!! So make a backup before trying and let us know please!

Yes. Stable Magisk 23.0 works just fine, just as it has on all the betas.
Thanks it worked just need to figure out how to pass safetynet CTSprofile failing
Magiskhide not work =(
My pixel 4xl won't update the factory image in fastboot. The command fails in the last step.

Hi...which apps are available to work with Motion Sense? Thanks in advance.
Is there any explanation as to why the top model like "Mi 11 Ultra" is downgraded when it comes to MIUI 13 update and other models get first?
"Mi 11 Ultra" is my first Xiaomi mobile and before this I have used Samsung, HTC and Huawei. It was a little different there. They used to give update to their top models first. I have an EU/Global version of the mobile.
I'm not against why other series get updates first, but I do not understand how Xiaomi thinks? I think that those customers Xiaomi has taken so much money from and sold a premium mobile, should also get premium service in the form of good customer service and perioritation with new versions, bug fixes.
I liked the Xiaomi phone but Software is the only thing that sucks. I did not knew what a android "Bug" was until I used MIUI.
I think Xiaomi should rather think about the customer's user experience and service. I miss a good support from Xiaomi. They do not have customer support over the phone in all countries. Workshops do not have parts for telephones. They do not have their own workshops that Apple or Samsung have. They are many shortcomings if I start pointing out...
@Agent 47
i couldn't agree more, as I also own an EU/Global mi 11 ultra and long for its MIUI 13 update. Come on Xiaomi !

I was pissed when I saw that they started with their cheap models and premium model that 11 Ultra is still waiting for.

My thoughts exactly! It was just an experiment on my part to try out any other Android brand after about 11 years of using Samsung (and Sony) smartphones. Partly, because in my country there is no good alternative (android) to Samsung. So much for this experiment! However, the camera (esp. night photography and 60fps 1080p video) on the Mi 11 ultra is excellent! But it can't replace a Samsung flagship as a "dependable" primary smartphone! Now, waiting for my S22 ultra to arrive.

I personally am a big fan of Huawei but due to lack of support for Google. I chose to try Xiaomi and bought a top model that was almost impossible to buy now. Miui for my part seems very immature software. Xiaomi should invest in the software department and rather hire Huawei's unemployed developers. Have you seen that in how short a time Huawei has built a new OS and app store.
Most models received a January update but my "Mi 11 Ultra" is still not on the list and runs "Android security update" from November 2021.
I am running MIUI 13 from 5th Jan 2022, 11U is one of the first mi phone that have miui 13, but in CN market
I know how u feel, but let first think about why. 11U is almost no sale at global market, not like 11 (standard one). So we can tell like 11U is for CN market, so they will bring 1st update to CN market. Other model got alot of sales in global market (like 11) will get update for global market fast like in your picture u posted
AFAIK (but I might be wrong) no public official MIUI 13 with Android 12 versions have been released so far for the MI11x global models.
Only beta versions or versions reserved to the so called "MI Pilot".
I follow you 100% but why you dont try the stable eu rom then?
Just received Miui13 last week. Not big of a change i'm afraid

It's EEA global stable beta fw for mi pilot program
Miui 13/Android 12 was released for EU rom, was it late December or early January, so it have been here for a while, but that's still not the official xiaomi, but the xiaomi eu, which is 2 different things.
Personally i prefer a rock stable phone and im still on the miui 12.5.20 which works 100% good for me, dont need any other stuff.
