Hey this will sound like a seriously stupid question but anyone got official UK Carphone Wharehouse Android 2.2.1 for me to use with odin
Trying to switch back to uk cos kies is seeing it as a XEE which i think is a Sweeden rom.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
if you bought from carphone warehouse then your phone should be unbranded. You just need to visit samfirmware.com and download the required samsung firmware and flash with odin.
Thanks!
only one small problem i have absolutely no idea which one is for CPW and which is for the UK specifically
There is a *# code you can enter to change from XEE to XEU but I am not sure if it has CPW and an option and I cannot remember the code. Perhaps someone else does?
Thanks for the info, if anyone else can help that would be great.
found the code cant make it work
quick update i found a website saying that i should enter *#272* imei# but i get to the screen i see the product code and then what i cant select it or anything, any ideas?
Thanks!
Use PaulFordes guide
worked on my UK voda Galaxy S

Hope this helps

All you need to do is flash the JPY CSC, that will get you CPW and XEU as it's a multi-CSC, If you're interestedm here's a link to a JS5 / JPY / JP5 ROM package that you can flash to get the latest stock JS5 PDA with the JPY CSC and JP5 (UK Vodafone) modem. I use it on my phone and it works great, flash it with Odin with no PIT or repartition selected. Root with SuperOneClick: http://www.multiupload.com/Q1O3GP6AJP
Hey
Thanks, will download the file and try and flash the jyp csc to the phone and chnage the product code.
i am on cpw phone using o2 this i think would change that, am i correct?
Thanks

The JPY CSC has the CPW files included so if you phone is currently configured as CPW then it will stay CPW, if it is configured as another product code (eg. XEN), flashing this CSC will allow you to go back to CPW. You can go back by entering the following on the phone dialer keypad (IMEI = your phone's IMEI!) *#272*IMEI# Then select the product code you want and you're away! Be aware that this product / sales code reset will do a factory reset on your phone so you will have to re-root and reinstall all your apps. Good luck!
It worked!
Wohoo!
thanks to all that helped.
installed i9000XXJPY through odin and changed the product code to CPW. am atm debating to install lagfix, seems to run fairly well
Again thank you!

Glad to hear you got it working! You shouldn't really need a lag fix with 2.2.1 as the horrible lag we used to get with 2.1 and 2.2 is gone. Some folk do install lagfixes (although I don't myself) and the favourite seems to be an EXT4 one these days.

[Q] Kies "This version cannot be updated"; Telstra-Samsung Galaxy Tab 7in ABANDONED?
Hi Friends,
Last week I bought 2 Tabs (Currently at AUD 400 outright). Since playing & today I found that, in Kies it says "This version of device cannot be updated." [See attached image]
What does it mean? Telstra model is GT-P1000T. Does it means Samsung/Telstra will not issue updates/upgrades for GT-P1000T??
what if we upgrade unofficial ROMs? Does these models GT-P1000T/GT-P1000L/GT-P1000N/GT-P1000 have any hardware differences that can brick the tab?
I appreciate you feedback.
Thanks & Regards,
-------------------------------------------
Just ROOTed & Clockwork Recovery installed..
It means the version of kies has a problem
Hi - Yes I have the same issue. I just upgraded to the latest version of Kies, and I have a Telstra Galaxy Tab, and get the same message "This version of the device cannot be updated"..
Keen to understand whether other ROMs are workable to upgrade the device past the JJ3 PDA, JJ3 Phone and JJ4 (Tel) CSC
You can update to overcome rom. I flashed my telstra tab the other week. Works fine!
+1 can apply custom ROM. FYI I also bought it for $400 3 days ago but checked today.. & telstra got it $299 out right online only price... no winning for me :-(
wich method did you use to get clockwork on the telstra tab
same in uk
+1 for the Galaxy Tab WiFi GT-P1010. The Kies program indicates that I have the latest and there are no options for OTA updates. The firmware & Android had better be able to be updated.
Wow. I got my tab for $899 from Telstra in December. Cant belive they are selling them outright for $299. fwiw these are the same network freq as the ATT tabs and they run custom firmware without a problem.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
bought the tab from telstra on the 299 price tag. just installed kies on my windows pc and found that i have the same problem too.
Update: I got jmi via kies. If You are having issues try a custom rom at your own risk (jmi is way better than jj3)
I also have a Galaxy Tab, the P1000T. I have tried to root it so I could make a back up, but none of the rooting programs work. They go through the motions, but end result is nothing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but to flash the device, with a 'unoffical' update, you need root access.
I don't want to brick the device, but I would like to update the OS/ROM.
Nowonmai, I have 2 Telstra p1000t's. You need to use super one click to root the tab. It's on the forum, do a search. Make sure to READ the instructions...
If you then decide to upgrade to Gingerbread, Follow the Instructions EXACTLY. I found the modem.bin in the [11.MAY.2011][ROM][GSM][2.3.3] ◄► Overcome ROM v2.0.0 BETA 2 ◄► GINGERBREAD!!! ◄► thread, the rest is in the [stock rom][2.3.3] p1000xxjq1 p1000xxjq1 p1000xxjpz thread...
Works a treat...

I searched for "super one click" and all I got back was "Super one hip", something about a bag for toting things for kids.
EDIT: I searched for it as superoneclick and located it. Sorry took a while for the caffeine to kick in.
did anyone find out how to upgrade to 2.3 on telstras galaxy tab??? please let me know. or post a link if already has been discussed in detail
Yep
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854
Works fine.
CSC can be changed after flash (I set mine to XEU)
Product code still ends in (TEL) though and same error from Kies about unable to update.
Otherwise works fine and lost crappy Telstra apps and boot splash.
All good!
Rooting not required.
Solved
hi i have the same problem too. but i found a solution. (Singapore Galaxy Tab owners - no need to go to service center))
1 first back up (very important)
2 check your region using *#272*IMEI# (mine is XSP Singapore)
3 then i change it to XTC (Philippines)
4 it will make factory reset
5 update you kies
6 plug it and ready to upgrade
7 after the upgrade you can return it back to the previous region (no. 2) (optional)
8 restore back up
9 download all your previous apps.
then enjoy..........
How do you check you region code ?
check your region using *#272*IMEI# (mine is XSP Singapore)
I cant type "IMEI" in the dialer ?
Sorry got it.... I inserted my IMEI number in that place and could get through.

I bought 2 SGT GT-P1000's. I wrote about a debacle I had purchasing them, as both said they were from U.K.-London addresses. Anyway, because they still had some Korean apps on the official Samsung Apps software, I sent them both in from the U.S.A. to Great Britain to have them "officially" put the correct English only software on them.
Long story short, got both back. One was updatable through KIES, one wasn't. They deleted all of the official U.K. apps that were originally on there(I guess they figured since I lived in the U.S.A., I didn't need or want them.
I had asked anyone before if there was anyway to get back what was officially originally on them as I too paid about $600.00 full price. I was able to flash both over to whatever rom I wanted and back to the stock Italy Gingerbread. But, yeah, it was weird that when they did come back(it was a long drama and took over 2 months-they were lost, sent to wrong service centre, etc., etc.
The reason I wanted the original software was because it allowed me to access the free $200.00 in software like the movies, music, ebooks, games that came with the purchase after I had registered them during their promo that Samsung had. They took that all off and when I go into the websites now, it says that I am not in an authorized network area-even if I change CSC or change time zone. So, I basically had downloaded them when I first had them and wanted to re-download my free stuff. Screwed yet again!
Does that mean if I change my location to UK or Sprint US, I can actually update the TAB throught the Kies provided by the local telecom operator?
I recently purchased a Galaxy Note (Unlocked) and am loving the device. I was reading online that there was a newer open european firmware (LA3) but was perplexed as my phone was saying there are no upgrades for it. I installed Kies (the UK version) and it updated it's self to 2.2 yet it still does not show any newer firmware than what is on my phone (KKA).
Is there a way to force Kies to let me update? or am I missing a step (I never did create a samsung account).
Thank you in advance...
Hi there,
I also recently purchased a Note, and have been spending FAAAR tooo much time lurking on this forum trying to work out whats what with rooting/roming and all things GNote.
Fairly new to all this android malarky and tbh i'm kinda just responding to your question as a way to clarify what, i have, thus far, gleaned from by lurksome xda ways! And as an attempt to stop lurking so much and try and give back some of the understanding xda has given me.
Your question is something I was also rather confused by, but from what I understand - It seems that Samsung rolls out OTA and Kies updates to phones with different CSC codes at different times.
I think it is only the German (DBT) phone which has had the latest LB1 update. I know that my XEU phone is also still on KKA, with no ota or kies updates available.
From what I understand, the way one gets the updates without rooting is through flashing them with a Windows app called PC Odin with the phone in download mode.
Or via rooting your KKA rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
and then flashing the updated firmware with either Mobile Odin or Clockwork Mod.
In all cases I believe you must download the firmware from either the sammobile site or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
If any (or all!) of that is totally wrong - please someone with greater experience wade in and put me straight, but I just thought that seeing as no-one else had responded - i'd try and make something of all the hrs i've spent lurking on here since i got this phone
Anyhow I'm sure if you just follow the links i've posted to the brilliant work of Dr Ketan - you won't go far wrong
Personally, I've not actually put any of this to the test yet - wanna make sure I really do know my arse from my elbow or in this case - my dalvik from my build.prop before I go messing with a £500 phone....

I appreciate the help to answer your question you are in part correct (from what I can gather). Samsung does issue updates based on CSC codes and there is nothing for the UK CSC code. However they also release what is called open updates. Meaning any carrier in a given country can use a open update for that country. Beyond that they release what is called open European updates that any unlocked phone in Europe can use.
My question is the latest open European update is LXA or LLA or something like that which is farther along than the KK5 I am on. Since it is open European I should be able to update to it I would think. There could be something to the fact that the UK is considered part of the EU so it might not fall under even an open European release and if that is the case than so be it.
I am just trying to find out why my unlocked international version of the note can not seem to update to the latest open European update
Ok, so from the sounds of it - i think your definitely better informed than me on Samsung update protocol
Haven't heard any of that before. I was under the impression that the XEU code was the unlocked open euro code....
Anyway, just thought i'd let u know that i took the plunge today - deciding that I trusted XDA more than Samsung to update my phone
Rooted my stock KKA rom using dr ketans posts as my guide, then flashed the stock LB1 firmware and have since flashed Franco's kernel.....all seems well so far
Although one thing i did notice is that my Antutu score was significantly lower after flashing Lb1, but before flashing Franco's kernel (haven't tested since)....
Anyway good luck waiting for an official update - in my limited experience - I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for OEM's to issue OTA updates...

This is cool. But how to find whether my phone is locked or not?
And what about if we try to involve the Samsung support on this question? I'm also stuck with kk5 and i'm also in Europe.

If you want to know what region your phone is from plug it into the computer after you have installed samsung kies. Once you do if you look at the screen for your phone you will see three sets of letters and numbers. The last one in the string will have your CSC once you get that do a google for where it is from.
If you are on kk5 like me then you probably have a UK code.
An phone is unlocked by default when you import it from Europe as they use a different model for cell carriers than we do in the states.
The simple way to get the latest updates is....change your CSC with *#272*imei# in the dialer pad to the lastest update ( csc)! You don't need root or odin or mobile odin. Just change your country code. This will wipe your phone...but after restart you will get a promt to update your software as soo. As wou are connected to a wifi. There are many post about it...the csc change is described in sgs2 foruns and all over the net. About the country code, please visit sammobile.com and in firmware section you will find detailed info about those codes.
P.S. My note was originaly in XEH ( open Hungary), I'm from Romania so I changed my CSC to Open Germay (DBT-debitel) and after restart i got 2 consecutive updates.
Hope to help, sorry for my bad english

The easiest way to get updates is via XDA. Download PC Odin, and choose whatever Rom you fancy from the first sticky thread in Note development.
I have recently moved From India to France. Unfortunately I can't seem to add my cards here since Samsung Pay only accepts cards from India. I created a new Samsung account in France but that didn't seem to make any difference.
Is there any way I can change the location for my Samsung Pay for it to work here? I read somewhere that I need to change my CSC region or something? Do I have to download the France firmware to do that or is there another way? Worried I might mess up my phone if I mess with it haha. I tried factory resetting it with my French sim but it didn't make any difference? Is it possible to do it like that/ did I miss a step or something or is flashing firmware the only way to go about this? Would appreciate any and all suggestions and tips so i don't break my phone haha as I'd like to keep it functioning and under warranty.
Also if i need to flash a new firmware,
1. Do i download the France(XEF) firmware or France(SFR) firmware(since the sim card i bought here is Red by SFR).
2. Is the PDA id basically the build number of my phone? since I'd need to download that specific firmware i think.
Sorry for the stupid questions. Would appreciate all the help I can get as I've never done this before.

Hi
Flash a firmware from Europe , so you have available a french CSC
Then You need to change your active CSC to one from France , at the moment (without root) you have to use a pay service (samkey) , after that you can use you french account for samsung pay and add credit cards from that country
Hello all.
My S20FE (SM-G780F) has not updated from OneUi 3 and Android 11. It always says that I'm using the latest software. I've tried factory resetting the phone and using Smart Switch to no avail.
I'm in the UK. Never lived anywhere else. I reside here permanently. It's where I bought my phone brand new.
I checked the service provider software version and it says ZT0/ZTO,ZTO/EUX . However, when I use the dialler method to check the same information it says the CSC is BTL3.
I researched and ZTO seems to refer to Brazil. I've never been to Brazil or anywhere in that vicinity so I don't know why it says ZTO as the service provider information.
Could this be why I'm having issues updating? If the phone thinks it's Brazilian then it would stop me updating if I'm in the UK? Is that correct?
Samsung suggested I send it to them to flash the drive but they require a proof of purchase and as I bought the phone over 2 years ago I can't for the life of me find the original order email.
Just for clarification the phone has never been rooted or modded and all software etc is "official." I've looked into flashing the software with Odin. Would I need ro download the update file for the CSC my phone says it is or for the CSC it should be? Do I only download the latest update or would I have to stack them and download all the previous ones my phone missed too?
Please help before I tear my hair out.
flashing the phone yourself with Odin is very easy, there are dozens of YouTube vids to get an idea from. actually downloading the firmware is more difficult.
whoever sold you the phone is who you should be angry at, it obviously wasn't intended for use here. let me know if you want help flashing!
Same thing happened to my Mom's phone (a Galaxy A series device).
Use this guide and manually flash the latest firmware.
