Mi 9 green, red dots around the screen - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I think my Mi 9 screen have some problems. Around the curve/edges there are a lot of green, red dots especially when the screen is white...
Am I right, it isn't an amoled bug? I have a screen which is faulty?!

That's normal. Are you running a xiaomi.eu ROM? I remember they had the screen masking deactivated. Those pixels were always there, but normally they are masked with a really small black overlay to "smooth out" the jagged display edge (due to displays not actually being rounded, but built in incremental stairsteps of pixel lines).

Darius is right. It's just the edge of the screen.

Dariusdd&kaydentc1 thanks a lot!
Yes, I'm using Xiaomi.eu ROM. In 20.1.4 they fixed: "Fix - Screen cutout (notch) and corners are jagged and/or misshapen"
So the screen is ok than. :victory:

Every Samsung AMOLED screen is like that.
My galaxy s3 and note 2 were not like that

Hmmm...I was laying in bed last night streaming some videos because I couldn't sleep. I think I would have noticed something like that on the black loading page...I recall everything was of uniform brightness. I'll have to check again later & specifically look for it. However, I'm incredibly anal about that kind of stuff so I think it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
I have a Charcoal Grey unit, by the way.
Opened up Chrome to that blank screen like you did and mine looks normal. I was thinking perhaps it was just a viewing angle sort of problem, but every angle I tried looked the same...normal. Not sure what could be causing that for you.

We've come a long way with display technology and bad displays are a lot more rare than they used to be, but a bad one still will slip through from time to time. A trip down to the local AT&T store to swap it out for a new one will fix the problem.

Lines /dots on display?

Noticed there are dots on the display the run symmetrically up and across the screen. They are faint but when in direct sunlight they shimer sort of and it's a little annoying. Cant notice in regular lighting. Anyone else notice this or should I try to send back?
I have this too

I have this too, i do not think it is a defect and i do not have any problems with the lines and dots. You should speak to a sony representative and ask them what it is.
I probably should have done a google search before posting. Seems like it is the digitizer. Grid patterns thats how the touch screen works. It's normal. I guess I need to stop being a little girl about this phone.lol

@Notchr302 I noticed it too the other night at a store. Because of the configuration I figured it was the digitizer but I have never seen one so obvious.

[Q] Light leak/irregular light line across the bottom?

Has anyone else had this?
It's not dissimilar to this issue in the old LG G PAD

It is not as prominent, but it is there. It's like tiny lights, which illuminate the bottom edge of my Z3+, are there across the bottom - more visible on whites, or bright colours.
I can live with it (I think) if it's a common issue, but is it or should I replace?
Many thanks. Once more, it's not as prominent ! Same effect, about half a centimeter, if that, long.

That s because of bad build quality :|
that may not cause any issue but it s not nice, ask for replacement :good:

I've had a 3rd unit, and it was worse than this one - with the first, white, being the worst of them all.
It's so minimal, this odd light bleed I mention, that I'll keep the 2nd one I think. It's like a very very thin lightbleed, only visible against red or blue, in a wavy pattern - less than 2-3 milimeters. I think, overall, the panel job is not so good because they made the phone thinner.
I don't have it

Backlight Bleed

Does any A2 have backlight bleed? Can't find no information on it, my A2 comes tomorrow to replace my OP6 as I don't need that spec, only use the phone for YouTube and Reddit. Just hoping there is no backlight bleed.
No there's none of that

this is not called bleed man,
it is faded color at the bottom due to stock launcher try poco launcher or any launcher for this confirmation.

I use nova launcher and yes it appears everywhere , browser, Reddit app and other apps. It's noticeable
Can confirm. Tomorrow will be literally the fourth month of purchase. It started today.
Sometimes screen bleeding do occur but after a shutdown for an hour or so it gets resolved
Does this count? If the phone is untouched for a few hours this shows up.

AMOLED not full black

Hi I own a Galaxy A71
Apart from the minor burn-in I see from my device I just noticed something every time I look at something pitch black. It's not at all pitch black the display acts like it's an LCD and not an AMOLED display. Even on dark mode in the settings the background is not at all black it's a bit grayish and it's kind of bothering me a bit because my friend on a different device (Redmi Note 10 Pro) also has burn-in issue on his device but the pitch blacks are displayed like pitch blacks no light emitted at all.
Does anyone have the same issue? How you guys fixed it?
Did you tried noticing it with a video?
Yes, since videos are only mostly in 16:9 and the A71 has a funny aspect ratio, it would show black bars on both sides of the display in landscape. The black bars do look like a bit illuminated.

try changing color settings: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00063051/
or maybe problem in your display, take it to a service center.
I doubt it's a problem with my phone's display as this suddenly just happened after updating to OneUI 5.0. I guess i'll have to stick with it.
