Hello. I bought a galaxy note on 28th november. After only 2 weeks of absolutely normal and careful use, my screen is scratched and broken. Ok, it is a small crack, but it is not good.
It never fell and it never hit anything. After only 2 days, i noticed some scratchs and some other came in the days after. Then, the part of the screen between the upper edge and the speaker broke in two, with a crack (small, 5mm but still a crack) going from the edge to the speaker. I can't post a photo as i sent it back to samsung for repairs (it had also display issues). Do you know a reason for it? It should be gorilla glass, and i only kept it in my pockets without anything inside apart the smartphone. Do you think samsung will repair it since it happened during normal use after ONLY 2 weeks? I'm really annoyed and disappointed.
Anyone experiencing glass resistance issues?
Thanks
Call samsung and send it in they will fix it..

Yes, i did it and i'm waiting, and i also adressed the lines issue and the green/banded screen, but i am in italy and i'm not sure if it is covered by warranty, it should: they can say i broke it.
The Corning Gorilla Glass was one reason I went with the SGS2.
The other reason was fear of provoking the wrath of God for having such a sensationally beautiful device (the Note). It's an awesome device, really.
But God smote those who worshiped a golden calf, too.
lol Sorry, I'm not really a religious fanatic. But yeah, sucks about your screen. Hope Sammy fixes that one up for you.
Welcome Nickelsilver and please don't take this personally and in NO way I'm defending Samsung or the Note but I have to say the neither scratches or dents/cracks come by their own.
They just don't happen/appear magically by themselves on the phone's screen/body. Maybe someone is messing with you Note without you knowing it?
E.g: I have 1mm small and barely noticeable scratch on the top left corner which I suspect it came from the ONLY 1 time my Note slipped from the passenger's seat and fell in the gap between the passenger's door/seat.
I went through 3 screens on my dell streak. Now that I have the note which is even bigger I was so cautious I treated it like a delicate fragile little flower. Needless to say after 2 weeks I noticed what appeared to be a scratch going up from the bottom middle halfway up. Turns out this is not a magical scratch that sprang out of nowhere but an actual crack on the outer glass screen. I have never dropped it but perhaps it was somehow flexed.
No warranty of course. I have ordered the glass itself from overseas and when it gets here in a month I suppose I will try replacing that piece individually as its only the outer glass that seems cracked. Hopefully they do not glue the screens together like they did in the streak ><

To OP: im sorry to hear that....hope samsung can fix it for you quick.
Ps. Dont listen and worry about this guy...he thinks only his opinions are important and others experiences are just JUNKS and BORING! Not sure why he would even bother to reply, if they really bores him that much. Maybe he really thinks that he BOOFY the witch hunter or something
Plus.. He forgot that he has also once posted a question regarding to his screen problem too here on the forum.
Gorilla glass is bull****. I had dell 5 streak, and I changed the screen more than 5 times. Little drop will result in screen loss. Do not depend on gorilla glass.
My Samsung Galaxy Note are broke
Yesterday I was knocked out of the hands under my 40 days old Samsung Galaxy Note, the cover glass is cracked along its entire length as a spider's web, while the LCD screen is not damaged, that still works, receiving the touch command. The solution I found in the orders of the new protective glass over eBay. Maybe that was too much angry because it happened to me, but NOTE is too amazing, and I somehow survive.. I'll let it be when we come new safety glass
I do not think this is a witch hunt. More of an informative thread on one weakness to an otherwise amazing device. It may be that until an indestructive clear glass is created that we will continually face this on any large phone. Anything this large will flex easily and likely crack. One thing Samsung definately did right was not glue the glass to the LCD behind it. I put a clear screen cover over mine and you cant even see the crack anymore. Were this a dell streak you would have half of your screen blacked out.
This is definitely the best mobile device out there in my opinion, people should just be extremely cautious with where they carry it. Mine most likely cracked in my pocket from slight flexing.
The glass on the note shouldn't break even when flexed unless it's not Gorilla glass.
Gorilla glass is not only scratch resistant,it is also shatter resistant.
If the glass is breaking frequently on the notes, then I wonder if they really have Gorilla glass.

That demonstration glass at the beginning of the video is about 3 times thicker than what Samsung uses on the Note/Galaxy S2/Galaxy S SAMOLED panels. And it's quite a bit smaller, height/width wise (it's about iPhone 4 sized).
Thickness makes a significant difference in flexibility and shatter resistance. Which is off on a tangent, because the main reason Samsung and others uses GG and similar techniques is not for shatter resistance.
It's almost entirely for the combination of higher scratch resistance vs metals (all bets are off with sand particles) and a better tactile feel (it's smoother) than non-treated glass.
Sure it may not be as thick on the note but you are never going to flex the phone anywhere as much as that demonstration.
My point is that if it is gorilla glass,it shouldn't be that easy to crack the screen given the abuse that it is supposed to be able to take.
All these? Gorilla Glass
And all these? Gorilla Glass
How about all these? Gorilla Glass
Or maybe all these? Gorilla Glass
It's been 10 days since i bought "the Note". I dropped the device just once from 1 meter height. It was a free fall with not much impact power. The screen has a crack on the upper right corner. I know every product is meant to last but so easy , so fast ! ??? Thankfully it still works with no functional issues. It's just the protective glass on top of the actual LCD that is broken. But u can still feel it while wiping your finger and it is appearent...
Hardware wise The Note is simply outragous but when it comes to software and durability it can't even come closer to what i used to find on HTC devices

The weight of the note will count against it during falls compared to say a very light phone like the SG2.Impact is going to be much harder if they both fell from the same height especially given te size of the notes screen.
Until they can make the note lighter, users will just have to be more careful not to drop it.Gorilla glass is not unbreakable.
I get my note tomorrow. Now I'm all paranoid
Dropped my Mi Mix (in case, on corner) and had a little luck in that only the outer glass cracked. Touchscreen and all of the normal phone functions still working, I'd just like to get this glass replaced as I see the parts are pretty cheap.
However...I can't find any guides for how to replace this piece of the phone. Found what was basically an entire Mi Mix strip down...except this 1 outer glass piece. ^.^
Any tips or can someone point me in the right direction?

Sorry to hear about this. There are no guides available as far as I know, except the few disassembly videos on YouTube which you may have already seen.
What case were you using by the way? And from what approximate height did you drop the phone?
You can buy the full LCD assembly here
http://www.cellspare.com/mi-mix-spare-parts/xiaomi-mi-mix-lcd-screen-with-digitizer-module-black
Replacing the front glass without damaging the LCD will be very tricky.
I myself have a chipped corner, however I would get the assembly before attempting a glass replacement.
Here is an even cheaper one

Anyone have experience replacing the outer glass? Not just if i want to drop $120+ to replace the whole LCD screen at this moment.

Think best idea would be to replace the lot, they never split good and watch takedown video 10 X before you attempt it.

I also dropped my mi mix 3 and I saw a outer glass screen for only $4.00 and talked to my friend phone technician to help me replace it for around $25.00 for the fee or labor. I'll give out my review about the performance after the replacement

Any feedback or follow up on this?
Same dilemma, not trying to replace the entire screen - just the glass.
It'd be nice to pick up the glass and find someone to do the repairs instead.
I busted my screen on my mi mix and bezel. I am looking for a technician professional to fix my device is there any place online that can do this? I searched but couldn't find anything. I would do it myself but I'm afraid I'll fail. I just need the bezel and glass changed.
NEW Mi Mix
I bought my Mi Mix about 3 years ago. I really love this phone, but just last month, the glass started separating from the frame, my flash doesn't work and about 2 years ago, I got a small chip in the glass on the top right corner. I take superlative care of my phones, so don't know why I started having these issues. I started looking for another one to replace it and wasn't having any luck. Then, I came across this link on DH Gate. I first was rather skeptical, but ordered it anyway. The seller had it listed for $192.
I charged it with a credit card so I could always dispute it later if it turned out to be a hoax. I chose expedited shipping and sure enough, the seller sent it with Fed-Ex and it was delivered to me in 3 days from China to Texas. It was only the phone. Didn't have any accessories, except a clear TPU case. No original box, but I didn't care about that.
It was a fine transaction and I'm happy with the phone. It had some strange developer ROM on it that I re-flashed with another ROM with TRWP. The TWRP versions for lithium did not work, but I found a TWRP version by mrraines that works.
The only problem with it is that the theme and mi store are in Chinese. No matter what I do, I cannot get them to display in English. I've flashed it several times and I got the closest version that I could find that was close to the original Marshmallow ROM on my original. It's working great, though and I did root it, just flashed SUPER SU with TWRP. You have to use the MI unlock tool, but I didn't have to wait and the unlock procedure worked immediately. Anyway, in case you want to order a new one, here is the link for the one that I ordered. I can verify that the one that I got was BRAND NEW, not refurbished or used. Absolutely perfect, no scratches or marks on it. I looked it over with a magnifying glass and found no marks of use.

Pay the extra $20 and use the expedited shipping and you'll have the phone in several days.
Cheers,
Frank

Thank you for the link i appreciate it! The crack on my mix isnt very bad but it does annoy the hell outa me lol. That crack is the only thing thats wrong with my device, theres no screen burn or any other issues just a crack across my screen and the bezel is damaged slightly from the impact. When i get another device ill probably get the OnePlus 7 pro the reason is because the front camera is hidden i very rarely use a camera. I dont need a front camera and i really like how OnePlus designed a device with a hidden front camera.
You might also consider the Xiaomi Mi9T. I bought a Mi9 off of facebook marketplace from a lady who bought it but never used it. Then they came out with the Redmi K20, which is only for Asian countries. Then they released the Mi9T.
I bought it mostly for the beatiful back. I got the red one. It has a pop-up camera. No bloatware on it.
I bought mine from Banggood.com, but Amazon also has them. I don't know what country you're in, but I'm in Texas, USA.
NO NOTCH!! I have several phones with notches, and hate them. I have 45 phones and my latest is the Galaxy Note 10+.
So I now have 4 Xiaomi phones and love them. I use Mint Mobile, which runs off of T-mobile towers and the data speeds are fantastic where I live. They also came out with the Mi9T PRO, which has the cooling system.

As the title says. Now my screen has a big blue/purple patch on it .like the liquid is leaking.
So I wanted to know where can I buy the original Touchscreen and Display in India Online.
I have Already searched on Google got some results but most of them are LCD(not OLED).
Any help will be really appreciated.
Send it to OnePlus, they have a third party fix it and will have it back in a day or two. I literally just went through this, last week. It will be 100 bucks roughly.
I have the phone since they start selling it and I dropped it hundred times, very badly sometimes and there is almost no marks, except few scratches and small dents on aluminum body. I never used any cover or screen shield, just pure phone
Hey all,
So today a work colleague pointed out from the angle he was sitting at - the scratches on my Note 9's screen. After giving the screen a clean I was pretty horrified to see how scratched the screen had got in just under 1 month of ownership. (see photos - Google Photos Link)
Anyone else had any problems like this? I always keep it in a case, no protector (recommendations please), in my jeans pockets with no keys, coins etc etc. My work phone (Pixel 2 XL) has no marks, scratches or anything and I've had that for at least 6 months and have the same style case too. The phone shop I bought it from was surprised and even the lady serving me showed her Note 8, it was nowhere near as scratched and she said she didn't tend to take care of it and was surprised to see the state of mine. Have got to take it into our town store tomorrow to get their verdict.
Hmm!

Just takes a grain of sand for that to occur. Sorry to see that.
Maybe your colleague turned the phone face down and slid it up down the floor or desk when you weren't looking? Typical UK office jokes I recall.

gorilla glass has not gotten much harder since OEM's started using it on their phones. mostly it has got thinner at same strength. only stronger when thicker, but not for scratches.
wait until iphone XS owners find out their camera lens is not sapphire like apple advertised. i hope apple gets sued to **** or they have to start telling the absolute truth in their PR. unlikely but whatever. your display isn't scratch proof, just scratch resistant.
No scratches on mine after a month. Looks like that phone has moved while face-down on a hard surface.
So, long story short, I've had my Moto z3 play for exactly 30 days now, last night I dropped it from MAYBE, 3 feet off the ground and it landed face down, front screen is cracked / spider-webbed all over, just wondering what experiences anyone has between Motorola doing a repair, local repair shops, and doing it yourself... I don't have the accidental damage insurance Moto offers, but I love this phone and have to figure something out..
Any input would be GREATLY appreciated...
Wish I could help, but I got no info to share except that when/if you get a new one . . . TEMPERED GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR! Saved me a few times.

The screen is very simple to replace I had to replace it when I shattered my screen. Bought one off eBay I think for 50$. Just use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive on the sides. Took me about 15 minutes to do.
Just an update, got it replaced at a local phone repair shop, pretty happy with it other than 1 issue, when I power off the phone, then power it back on, the screen is completely black, even though I can hear the hello Moto boot animation, and can feel the vibrations when I touch the screen. However, if I boot to recovery/bootloader mode and THEN power it on, the screen works just fine. Anyone have any ideas?

I broke my screen after a week (phone is nice but isn't durable at all).
I'm worried about screen quality. If I get a replacement, are they all the same? Or are some better? It wasn't as bright as I'd hoped to begin with so I don't want it to get worse.

The only difference I've noticed is that on my new replacement screen, it doesn't have the Motorola/Moto lettering logo on the front bottom chin of the screen, as it originally did, other than that I haven't noticed any difference in quality, brightness, etc..
Sorry about your phone. Same thing happened here - phone fell like 2 feet (with a screen protector) and bam, done. A new screen didn't help in my case. I replaced the fpc connector as well and nope, no go. These phones are extremely fragile. I say abandon ship, bite the bullet and get a new phone.

Think I may do the same. Have my moto x4 for a backup. Other than freezing up (which I could probably fix) it's not bad. I really wanted the amoled screen, but very disappointed with the brightness in daylight. Plus I don't want to pay $50+ only for it to not work as yours did. Isn't worth it imo. Which is to bad since I really like the moto interface.
Anyone know of a good replacement?
Any phone is apt to have the screen shatter without a case when dropped, while that doesn't help I want to link a video showing the Z3 Play screen is not that easy to break. The Poetic Karbon can be had for less than $10 which gives adequate drop protection it seems.

This is true. When I dropped and shattered mine, (64gb Moto Z3 Play Unlocked) I had just purchased the device 5 days prior from Target (they had it on clearance for $150, and they screwed up big-time, they had it listed as the 32gb variant, even though the box specifically said 64gb lol), anyways, I dropped it with NO case, and NO screen protector, onto concrete from about 3 feet off the ground..
However, now I have the Lenovo official aluminum bumper case that's compatible with mods, as well as a tempered glass screen protector, and have dropped it at least 4 or 5 times on a hard wood floor, from about 5-6 feet up, and has not even affected it...
