This phone is insane for $200, I'm not understanding why it is not getting more love in the XDA community. With a good ROM this would be a killer combo. I'm would like to grab one but I can't find any camera samples. Anyone mind sharing some pix, hopefully some also from Gcam if possible? Thanks!
Are you looking for gcam from vendor ROM as shipped? GSI ROM? or stock China ROM ? All I can see on GSI ROMs is that Nightmode doesn't quite do what it is supposed to do - it seems to shoot as it supposed to, but does not smooth the photo the way my Mi Mix 2 does (and I tried dozens and dozens of gcam versions because most don't work on this phone). Vendor ROM as shipped includes stock camera which seems to just use higher ISO for night photos. So gcam still wins at night, but daytime photos look about the same for me. Keep in mind I am not very picky about these things.

Just something i was wondering. What do you guys prefer using the stock mi camera app or gcam? I use the mi one mostly since one thing ive noticed is that back in my redmi note 4 gcam made a heck load of difference but with the a2, not so much tbh

GCam, in low-light/night scenarios, significantly outperforms stock. In good lightening conditions you might be able to see a little lack of proper WB tuning on GCam, colors are a bit exaggerated (unreal), stock camera handles color accuracy better (though, it won't capture as many details as GCam even in the best lightening conditions). Cropped sky shots on GCam reveal dot patterns, GCam devs now implement a fix by B-S-G, but you can't fully get rid of dots. By the way, the so-called Xtreme libs, that are available in previous Tolyan's builds, were the top solution to the dots' problem for me a month ago. If you'll be pissed off by the black dots, go try his builds. I just nevermind them 'cause we have a good dev who tunes everything to match Mi A2 capabilities.
Here is a link to builds by a Russian guy who works on bringing the best GCam performance to Mi A2.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer. Never experienced these black dots myself tho. Its mostly just about stability for me and all the gcams ive tried aren't nearly as stable as stock camera. They end up crashing when i most need them. Anyways i havent tried the build you linked which is supposed to be specific to those device so ill try that to see if theres any difference.

That's the issue for me as well.
At the end of the day, photography is mainly about catching the moment.. so you can have the best HDR in this world, but if the camera crashes/freezes when you really need it, then it completely misses the point.
Even if I think that the gcam gives better results (if you don't consider the dots), I'm using the stock app simply because it's way more reliable (and not bad anyway).
I keep seeing comments in YT videos about a working GCAM for RM3. I literally tried like a millio... like 15 different apks, without any success. Does anyone have a version or a trick to get GCAM working?
BTW, the latest update to the stock camera is awesome. Compared to my old OP6 camera, this one is flagship quality.
I also wait a suitable gcam for this beast smartphone
Best settings for Gcam by Bulkin043 aka InnocentParrot
At the moment im using version 6.3.017 - stable version v9 and the settings of the guide.
I have gotten better results with Gcam6 than Gcam7.

What do you think is the best?
bonsoir,je trouve que la version reborn a des couleurs plus prononcés et meilleurs details
I think that tr_camera_reborn is better that all others in your test.. do you have the link of this camera apk??

I dont think that.
TR_Camera_Reborn colors are to loud and exaggerated.
version 6.3.017 - stable version v9 is more natural.
It´s just my option.
BTW heres the link for reborn versions https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-tigr/
saturation is a matter of taste and anyone can set it within 5 seconds of editing, so is sharpening etc. imo tigr is a proven winner v7 is not close yet but devs will get it there when android 10 is out for our device

I totally agree less on the winner
Can you take some pictures with various versions as I did to see differences please?
And can you share your configuration you use on tigr Gcam and witch version you use?
I think ANXCamera (which is the Modded stock MIUI camera) https://camera.aeonax.com/ is good for day to day use in multi environments. (requires root to load the libraries for 48MP mode to properly work)
I also think Bulkin043 aka InnocentParrot's gcam port (PMGC) https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bulkin043/ is well if you load the RN7 xml config. And also works well in multi environments.
tigr TR_Camera_Reborn https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-tigr/ i think has too much un-natural color and cant be changed within the camera app, therefore i dont like it.
BSG GCAM https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/ worked good and took good pictures, but i think Bulkin043 aka InnocentParrot was better
san1ty gcam port i havent tried, but works on android 10 supposedly. Also needs to load redmi note7 xml config. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-san1ty/
there is also HYPERCAM

Hypercam looks promising, but i havent had time to test it

i was just testing and don't remember which XML i used, but none of those sound familiar, i have since deleted the xml, its really a matter of personal preference of what kind of color reproduction and accuracy you like, test a few of them out and see which ones you like, in general i like my pictures with more detail, less blurring (non filter), and a slight hint of saturation but by no means overly saturated, i literately mean just a tad bit saturated and a bit to the darker side.
I cant load .XML files on any app. I move the files on GCam/Configs7 then tried to double tap and didn't work. could someone help me, please?

New versions of Parrot don't use that directory.

So, let's recup: which is the best gcam and xml options for rn7 kavender with stock rom?
I've ported over a version of the Google camera..https://www.cyanogenmods.org/google-camera-oppo-find-x3-pro-gcam/
Google camera 8.1
Below is is an example of the only photos I've managed to take so far. However the Google camera port definitely has a more natural tone. The oppo camera has a more vivid look to it
Have you found a way to support auxiliary lenses ?
I prefer Oppo's colour science over GCam there.
There are a couple of good X3 pro v pixel 5 comparisons out there on YouTube. There is no reason to want the Google cameras.
Part of the joy of android is being able to play around with stuff like this regardless of weather you need it or not, don't you think?
okokok,very thanks
What is the status of GCam port for X3 Pro? Everyone happy using stock camera?
Is this only mod working or we can try many other ports as well?

There's many new builds released like MGC and LMC that work good also without an XML, for MGC you can download the aweme package that can shot with wide lens but have a bug on normal lens, I prefer LMC for normal shot in day light, you can find all simply searching on telegram
Hey guys, im planning to buy this phone. I wanted to make sure gcam is functional in all cameras on this phone. By functional i mean working hdr+ and properly saving it(nothing else)
My main concern is the front cam that uses omnivision ov60a sensor and main( hp1 )and ultrawide sensor that are samsung. (And we know that sabre merge in gcam mods only support sony.so superres might be out of question) Yet based on gcam reviews of other phones with these kind of sensors i fear that their gcam output in low light be full of purple tint and artifacts (let alone the crashing) . Can anybody test gcam on edge 30 ultra’s cameras to confirm it works okay in hdr+?
P.s:
I know that many phones dont offer better pics with gcam than stock camera app .But front cam and zoom cameras’ potential is often wasted in stock app and gcam can make em way more effective(better bokeh quality and dynamic range in portrait to say the least)
I think many gcam mods will work just fine with this phone.
I also share link here so everybody finds quickly gcam builds to test. Most used gcams these days are builds from LMC, Shamim, BSG and AGC

It is not just about if it works, but rather if it supports the 200MP and the 50MP main camera modes. I've tested several gcam mods, and they all work, but they support 12,5MP only.

There is no gcam mod that support 200mp or 50mp modes because google camera does not support it.

Hi everyone, I need help regarding Gcam for Moto Edge 30 Ultra. Now I'm using Gcam MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2b by BSG and I need a file config, because the photos are less detailed and with a lot of noise.
I hope that someone could help me, thanks.
my best setup, although that may depend on taste ( for BSG 8.1)
I'll leave one more that I prefer to photograph people, feel free to test (BSG 8.1)

Hello, I have low vision. It is very difficult for me to read. I would like to know if you can help me. I have a motorola edge 30 ultra. I would like to take pictures of the stars with the g cam, but I am trying different versions of the application and I cannot keep the shutter open with the main camera. or telephoto in some versions of the application, only 10 seconds of exposure are maintained, I need a minute and a half or two. Does anyone know which version can be used or how to solve this?
