I wanted to see if anyone else had issues with their signal for tmobile and after updating to android 9. I am running into an issue where for a few days I would have LTE 4G signal but at some point, I would lose signal completely. This issue persists once every one to two weeks. Here are the steps I did to see if it would resolve the issue:
- Reset Network Settings
- Reconfigured the date & time so it would be the correct time and date and timezone
- Removed automatic set date and time
- Did both a soft and hard reset
- Cleaned out system cache
- Booted into safe mode
- Checked the service hidden menu and ran tests and all came out pass
- Reset Access Point Names
- Ran Search Networks in Network Operators Menu and failed
- Ran Select Automatically in Network Operators Menu and failed
This issue has been annoying ever since I updated to Android 9. If anyone has a solution please advise. My phone is not rooted and is stocked image.
I'm on Tmo and received the pie update some months ago. I haven't had any issues with signal strength since. I'm racking my brain trying to come up with some advice but wow you have some everything I can think of. How about trying a new SIM card?

I actually did replace the SIM card. Here is the weird thing... When I removed my sim card, I would get the icon showing that there is no sim card inserted so of course no signal was showing. After inserting the new sim card, the phone would see and recognize the sim card but still no signal bars would be showing.

Roaming has been turned on and off then on again yet same results with signal being lost.

Download this app, "LTE Discovery" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.simplyadvanced.ltediscovery
There's a feature that logs your LTE data, wait till you lose signal again and then review the logs.

I'm running the stock 4.4.4 ROM on my Moto G 2014 Dual Sim XT1068 Titan. I have a Sainsbury's SIM in SIM1 and a Three SIM in SIM2, which is also the data SIM.
I don't get very good reception in my flat on Three, so often when I move from room to room, I lose the signal completely but this causes a notification to appear saying that I've lost signal on the Sainsbury's SIM, even though that's showing full bars at the time. Even when I get signal back on the Three SIM, the notification doesn't go away and the only way to get rid of it is to tap it, which then opens the Mobile Network selection screen and takes ages to scan for networks before I can select one and close the screen.
Has anyone made a patch that fixes this annoying bug, ideally to make it not show any notification at all when the signal is lost, so that it can just resume silently when it's found again?
No-one else having this problem? I lose reception on my Three SIM2 at various points in my flat and get this annoying message incorrectly telling me that my Sainsbury's SIM1 has lost reception. I also often find that when the Sainsbury's SIM does lose reception, it won't automatically start working again when I get back within range of a signal and it says with the red cross/triangle showing.
At least I found a quicker way to get rid of it is to go to the Dual-SIM settings and disable/re-enable whichever SIM has lost signal.
I was thinking of finally updating to Lollipop to see if that fixes the problem. Does anyone know if it does or not?

Thanks, I'll have to try updating then. In fact I already did but the update failed and it rebooted about 1/3rd of the way through, so I guess I'll have to completely wipe it and flash a Lollipop ROM.
Nexus 6 UK user on EE network. Started to have this problem about 2 mouths ago no signal emergency calls only, reboot the phone still no signal remove sim and put it back in works. This is happening about twice a day. Was running latest stock with root so changed to chroma custom rom thinking it could be radio problem but still happening. Got a replacment sim thinking it was damaged still happening. Phone is over a year old so starting to think hardware problem. Any help would be great.
Cheers
Have you checked your IMEI number?

Hi bushako the IMEI sames okay, I have flashed stock MMB29Q on today with no root to see if it makes any different.
sounds like neither a hardware nor software issue, but a carrier issue.

When you remove and replace the sim card, is the phone on or off? Reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about a possible problem with the contact pins of the sim card *slot*.
Also wouldn't hurt to check on the sim status next time it stops working.
System settings --> about phone --> (check that baseband version is showing something reasonable, then Status --> SIM Status and check what is under signal strength, cellular network type, service state, cellular network state, and IMEI.
Another thing that you may want to look at, is at System Settings --> wireless&networks/more --> cellular networks --> Preferred network type, and also in Network operators, make sure that you hit the button "choose automatically".
Now, the reason I want you to set it to choose automatically, is because of a glitch I've seen a few times on my service provider here in Canada. If it is set hard to my service provider, occasionally, it will be unable to connect to the network. This is especially the case when I'm *entering* a service area from somewhere that has no service. Note that my service provider uses only ONE MCCMNC, so go figure. Just make sure that you select choose automatically.
You can also try resetting the radio by putting it into airplane mode, counting to 10, and then back to normal.
Hello. About a 4 months ago i have bought from eBay a note 5 at&t version. I live in Greece and my network operator is WIND GR. The phone works fine but from time to time i get an emergency calls only message. And i can't get and do a phone call. If i restart the phone everything goes to normal. Sometimes it goes on and off by itself (the problem).
Have been anyone experiencing the same issue? If the phone is incompatible with my network operator should it not work at all?
Did you tried to change the sim card? Maybe issue is from sim or from sim slot

My sim is new. When i purchased the phone i have changed my old sim with a new sim 4g compatible.
It happened again. And i am missing calls like this. I will smash it with a hammer
Go to settings, backup and reset, then reset only network settings, see if any better signal

Done that right now. Tomorrow i will get a new sim card and i will post if anything gets better. Thanks for the help.
Update of the situation. I have changed sim card 2 times. It still happening. My phone runs at nougat now and the problem still appears as before at 5 and 6 Android version. I currently gonna change service provider that has better and stronger signal. From what i have discovered. When the phone looses signal due too poor service provider signal sometimes it can't register to network by itself. If i enable airplane mode and then turn it off it comes back. Any clue? If it's hardware issue what can i change?
Should i have at the mobile networks auto detect or manual and my carrier?
After using the device for a month, I am experiencing sudden network fluctuations. The device latches on to the network and very next moment the bars disappear. There had been very few days( 2 or 3) when there were no signal issues, full bars. However, next morning I get a cross over cellular strength area with no bars.
Signal strength is good in my area and there is no outage. I have swapped SIM cards both on and from this device, it cannot connect to network. Changing preferred network type also didn't help me.
Is there any way to solve this issue?
Thanks!
I think, as long as your sim card is fine, this is another proof of bad code quality. For me it sometimes says "no sim card" and only a reboot fixes this.

SIM card seems fine! For me, it says "no service" and somedays, around evening its full signal and the next morning it shows a cross sign. I have verified with few of my colleagues who use Mi A2 with the same carriers, it works like a charm for them! I did a factory reset yet this erratic cellular reception still bugs me! Can this be fixed with October Security Patch?

Other Xiaomi devices also had similar problems and only custom roms helped. So you unfortunately have to wait and see.
I've been having this strange problem after enabling roaming on the 7 plus. There are now 2 entries for my 1st sim card in the network settings, with 3 signal icons showing on the notification bar. My 2nd sim name is shown as "unknown", with a 3rd nonexistent sim also appearing as "unknown". Disabling roaming and restarting the phone didn't fix the problem, and I've tried everything short of a factory reset. I've updated the phone to the latest december update.
Hope someone can help, thanks

Thanks, but this didn't work for me. Did it twice just to be sure but no luck.
