Roll back to Oreo U3 to U2? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi Everybody,
I'm kinda stuck, how can I roll back to oreo after several updates?
The binary block from u3 to u2 got me stuck, my build N960FXXU3CSI3
I did find a claim that there is a u3 oreo combination "N960FXXU3ASF1" at [samsungcombination]...
But I dont know if its "real", I'd really appreciate the help and insight,
Thank You

You are on a Bootloader V3. There is no way to go back to a V2 bootloader.. You can only downgrade firmware versions of the same bootloader version.

well, 99.99% of the time. Its uncommon, but some bootloaders will allow you to revert in very certain circumstances. Unsure about this revision change as i dont have this phone, but that 0.01% chance isnt weighing in your favor

Android 8 and P8 lite 2017

Hello, I have some questions about this phone, it will be long ...
My old Xperia XZ died after a foamy party ... so I bought this phone, and it's pretty cool.
So I would now go to android 8, surely LineageOS or EMUI8 I do not know yet.
So, do I really need to rebrand my phone for project treble?
Some links say no, some Rom allow activating treble, and other links say that you have to go through the official Rom EMUI8
I have to use EMUI recovery or TWRP?
Where can I find EMUI8 for Huawei?
How do I unlock my boot loader?
because the links I found his death ...
It was a lot easier on Xperai: D
Thank you for your help, as much on Xperia I know everything but there I am lost with this different recovery, with EMUI ... with the trick honor / Huawei
And I'm french, so not sure that I'm very readable, do not hesitate to tell me
Hi,
Just wait a little bit it should be Rolling soon in all countries officially (UK, Spain among others countries already got it so it might be soon for France )
If you're really in hurry there are multiple guides here that explains different ways to update manually. Not sure though if you can still unlock the bootloader...
Salut!

Tks,
I have bought this phone in spain so i hope i will have the update soon.
But, i want to change my rom because i'm barely out of storage, so i want a debloated rom like lineage not sure EMUI8 will fix my prob...
anyway I do not think I have enough storage to download it... they only have the 16go at movistar.

Yeah its too late for bootloader codes, huawei closed it a few days ago. Unfortunately you cannot flash any custom roms/recoveries/kernels, and i doubt anyone will ever crack the bootloader. sorry mate.:crying:

See StonedPsyco's answer....if you have any other questions about downgrading, see StonedPsyco's answer again.
Hope that helps
The firmware can not be downgraded to anything with a lower bootloader version, only to firmwares of same bootloader version, the version is indicated by the 8th and 9th characters of the pda firmware version, such as "U3, V3, V4, etc" , that is why I am still running on 7.1.1, my device works really fine

Unlock bootloader

How do I unlock the bootloader of my Huawei mate 9 ?
Did you get the key before July 24? If not.... you can't. Not without paying some third party that might or might not work. (eg. Funky Huawei )
This worked for me. But you have to pay 4€.

It does work but first you need to downgrade your phone to nougat (Android 7.x) first and then it will work.

No, but there's a chance that the tools you buy access to might be able to extract that unlock code...no guarantee...no refunds...
EDIT seller says its 4.4.23+ EMUI/Android Version: 8.0 is that the unlockable one or is there more to the version that says it?

You need the build number and security patch date.
Pretty much all EMUI 8 builds on the Mate 9 run a 4.4.23+ kernel, even up through the latest security patches.
Once you know the build number, find it in Firmware Finder, and find the build for that region that enables GPU Turbo. If it's an older build, then it's likely that you could use the official rollback firmware to get the bootloader unlocked.
here ya go that is pic he provided

Yup, .375 is the latest one that's good, after that .377 had GPU Turbo and issues with downgrading.
so im good to downgrade? i will message you when i get the phone in a few days thanks

You won't get into the trouble that others did with .377 or later, yes.
But there's no guarantee everything works nicely.
Do read as much as possible before doing anything.
Also keep in mind that Android 9 is coming soon so maybe you don't need to unlock and whatnot.

Downgrade to android Oreo

i just upgraded my note 9 SM-N960F from dutch 8.1.0 to German 9.0 pie via Odin . and to be honest im so disappointing with this UI and the whole update i was wondering if is it still possible to downgrade back to Oreo again ???
thanks alot
I think that it should be possible with Odin but honestly I never done it before so don't know. By the way, is the black mode feature implemented it this version of Pie in the toggles or in settings ?
Because I read someware that the initial version of this black mode or night mode or however it's called is not fully implemented like the final version should be.
toggles and settings both of them in night mode , but its not stable i have the feeling its slower my phone down some unknows issus
First try clear cache in recovery mode maybe can resolve. also try to update apps with play store or with galaxy apps because some apps must need an update to the pie version.. After that if all is worthless, maybe a factory reset will resolve Sometimes corrupted data may do this after an update specially after a big OS change like this.

These are all the firmware’s i found for your country as there are 2 provider for you country Thailand.. (SEE PIC) i got a feeling you will be on (THL) i could be wrong man I’m not 100% sure.. i hope someone answers you as i am kind of guessing, I don’t want to mess up your NOTE-9 for you!
i heard somewhere flashing wrong firmware, can make you lose OEM LOCK!! Why not try this launch SAMFIRM.EXE and input firmware from pic or try this first launch SAMFIRM.EXE and select auto to see if it picks up the firmware you need to download Oero 8.1!!

Will that affect Knox and Secure Folder feature in anyway?
If not, then this seems to be the Samsung approved official method of flashing firmware. Is that so?

No Knox will stay 0x0 as your flashing official firmware.. Root and Roms trip Knox and secure folder S,Health etc. So you can flash away regular firmware without any issues!

I'm hoping someone can further clarify the steps needed to downgrade to Oreo. I have the 96OU unlocked US version and I upgraded using the modded Odin method for US Snapdragon versions in the Guides section. I do not like the carrier bloat that was added to my phone and would like to revert back to 8.1. I went to SamMobile and looked up my firmware which I believe is N96OU1UEU1ARL1, my actual model is SMN96OU1ZKFX. I have downloaded Odin3 v3.13.1. I originally used Odin3 v3.13.1 3B patchedD to upgrade. Do I run Odin (non-patched) then input the BL, AP, CP and CSC files from the extracted 1ARL1 file and select Auto reboot and F.Reset Time only, not re-partition? Can I use the patched version of Odin if I want?
I have been looking for a step by step tutorial for this but just can't find one.

Bootloader unlock on Pie?

Hey everyone, I know it's probably too soon, but do we know yet if the bootloader can be unlocked after an Exynos N950F is upgraded to Pie through the official OTA update? What I want to know is: If I let this update happen, will I be unable to unlock and do custom roms after? Is it better to unlock while on Oreo and then update via custom roms only, etc.?
I haven't unlocked my Note 8 yet (only had it 1.5 months), but I want to keep my option to do so open.
Thanks.

may be u should first root by stock kernal which is rooted flashing
Exynos varianst do not have a locked bootloader, never have.
You need OEM Unlock ticked in Developer options to be able to flash non-standard stuff. Once you load TWRP, and flash the stuff you want, as long as it has the RMM cleaning integrated, you'll be fine.
Many devs deliver bootloader/modem packages with the rom, mostly as a side package. Even if you came from Nougat, after flashing the bootloader/modem first, you'd be fine flashing the custom pie stuff after.
