Hi- So I was using chrome on my Mi 9 and when the screen locked the actually went off. Now it doesn't turn on. If I press the on button then all it does is show me the Mi logo and then it goes to black and then the logo again, sometimes the logo turns orange but either way it doesn't turn on.
I don't know anything about custom ROMs so I have my phone stuck, also use it for whatsapp, youtube and chrome, no games, no nothing.
Can someone help me fix this? I don't even know where to begin. I have the global version and upadated to MIUI 11 back in November I believe.
Oh and I just remembered my phone did this like 2 times in the past but it eventually booted fine. This time is not working.
Thanks,
Hello
I assume your bootloader is locked.
You can try to boot to recovery (Power + Vol up) dans wipe data. On the most case this could fix your problem.
BTW you'll lost all your data.

Hey guys, could anyone shed some light on what's wrong with my phone?
The initial problem was that it would display a notice that the phone was going to restart, the phone would turn off but not reboot.
When trying to turn the phone on immediately afterwards, it wouldn't turn on. The first thing I tried was seeing if that battery was dead but even when I plugged it in, it still wouldn't turn on nor was the charging light on.
After leaving it for a while, I tried a hard reset but the phone would turn off after 2 seconds in the boot menu. After a few hours and a lot of expended patience, I got the hard reset done and it worked flawlessly for around 30 minutes then turned off again.
Right now, when I turn it on, it shows the HTC screen, the backlight for the icons at the bottom flashes around 10 times and it turns off.
Any idea what's wrong?

Kinda sounds like your power button may be sticking in. Is the device bootloader unlocked and rooted? Or still stock?

The phone has been unlocked to be used with SIMs other than from AT&T but it hasn't been bootloader unlocked or rooted.

Ok I would recommend you check warranty to see if it is still covered. To try a software solution will mean unlocking the bootloader which will void warranty. And may not fix the problem. As I say it seems like the power button is stuck in.
When the capacitive buttons flash like that it is because of a forced reboot by holding in the power button.
I'm having some issues with mi Mi5 lately. I've had to remove the battery 3 times this week, because the phone fails to start. I've tried different roms, and even stock miui, and it happens with all of them. Is there any way to know what's the problem?
Thank you in advance.

Why you should remove battery? , you just need press power button for more than 15 seconds, the watchdog timer will reboot the phone automatically.
Can you explain more details about phone fail to start ? Did screen is on? Have it enter boot animation? Or just stuck on splash screen?

Thank you for your answer. The phone doesn't boot at all, no boot animation nor splash screen. I've tried holding the power button for almost two minutes, and several combinations of vol +, vol -... Doesn't boot at all.
That's why I have to disconnect the battery, and after connecting it back it boots perfectly (I read this solution here in xda, but it's happenning too often).
Hi, i have mi5 and when i turn it on
screen shows mi boot logo and animation like normal booting process..
but when it finished the screen goes black, i try to push power / home button rapidly
and i see the screen turn on only in 1/4 second!
I've tried factory reset, but the problem is still same.
it hapens only with miui rom. All other rom (Syberia, Lineageos, Pixel Experience works very well
thanks
Same problem here. Don't know how to fix.
Do anyone know how to fix it?
Hi everyone,
my phone MI9 turns off randomly since the release MIUI 12 was released.
This problem can happen both when the phone is on standby and when I'm writing on whatapp... anytime...
Do you also have this problem with MIUI 12 ? Any solution?
... sorry if I wrote the wrong section
thanks.
Hey! Your mi 9 is randomly turning off and it's not turning on anymore or it's only turning off and go back to normal after it?

I am sorry for the late reply.
When My MI9 turns off, it usually goes back to normal after it.
In some cases, it turns on again but turns back on immediately when the MIUI logo is displayed.
When i press a keyrboard character, it is typed several times.
Phone got frozen while in Messenger, suddenly turned off and now it's stuck on boot loop. Holding volume down and power button does nothing, keeps it on boot loop. When I put it on charging, it heats up, but the charging logo does not show.
Anyone got any clue what might be the problem or how to solve it?
did you receive any pictures via messenger ? that used to be a thing that messed up phones because of one colour outside most phones RGB range.
a bootloop is a cycle, catch it at the right time and you can boot into recovery to clear cache and dalvik.
remember recovery and download mode need the cable plugged into a USB device to nowadays.
the instant the screen goes off hold volume up and power and then plug the cable into the phone (the other end already being in the PC).
if you did receive a file before your problem that'll still be there and the problem might persist. you might need to boot up into safe mode and delete something.
The phone got frozen at the main screen of Messenger, haven't received any messages or pics.
The thing I haven't mentioned but dk if it means anything, sometimes it gets to the Samsung logo, but then it goes off and turns back on.
Tried to hold volume up and power button couple of times, sometimes it would do a strong vibration and then do nothing, but I'll keep on trying.
Thanks for ur help

don't forget the USB cable, you can't manually boot recovery without it.

if you don't mind losing messages next time you could try clearing data on the messages app. you'd need to be pretty quick by the sound of it.
