.173 worse battery life? - Huawei P30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys, is it just me or the latest European update for the dual sim version, .173, has worse battery life? I mean, with the first release...it was a f..ing monster. Now...BS. barely 1 full day. Thanks.

.178, my bad

Yes. I was googeling all over. It's rediculous. The battery was awesome. 2days. Same like urs. Not a full day. I have no clue but after the upgrade to emui 10 the battery sucks. I have no clue what to do. Can we go back to 9?

I have no idea man, I wish to go back to the first andorid 10 release at least, .153 or what was the number. Thank you, at least I.am not crazy, I will probably sell my phone, the battery depletes as we speak. Never saw this in a huawei phone... it is really sad

I also downgraded to 9 until and waiting to see if they fix this as when I was on 10 beta I had lost over 40% of SoT.
9 is fine for me atm

Thanks for confirming, will go back to 9 as well then, as I suspected.

Just give it a week... I'm on 178 and battery life is just as amazing. I can get 9 hour screen time and play couple hours of pokemon go and cod mobile.

Ooh, ok man, thanks for this, to be honest its the first time I heard of this, but it makes sense. So I'll give it a rest for a week or so and then see if it does recover or not. Thanks again.

I'm experiencing a random drop of performance too, might affect overall battery life? Hope they release a more stable version next month

Just curious.. How can this get better after a week?
Using it for 3 day snow and it sucks. Can't get thru the day. But have no clue of how to get back to 9

You can downgrade to EMUI 9.1 v9.1.0.260 using HiSuite PC version 10. Connect your phone to HiSuite then check for updates. It will say you're on latest and bellow you will have an option to return to an older firmware (in this case EMUI 9.1 v260).
Pay attention that downgrading from EMUI 10 to EMUI 9.1 will Factory Erase your device, so don't forget to backup before proceeding

So yes, I confirm that after going back to .168 the battery life is again great, not struggling to get through the day. Now I am at 13%, 1day15hours standby and 8:30 hours of SoT. SO there is a fault in .178, at least on my device.

Thanks for clearing out, m8 :highfive: So it's better on EMUI 9.1, maybe because is more optimised then latest EMUI 10, but is good to know that for better stability and greater battery life EMUI 9.1 is the way

Epic drain.

Hello my dear OP3T users. Ive got the phone as of 4th of may (may the 4th be with you), and the battery life was alright (4/5 sot). Its not my first op3, my last op3 fell into a lake the week before that. So here's the problem: suddenly the battery drains epicly. 2 hours sot and i need to recharge again. Android-system + android operating systems are the 2 biggest users. This didnt happen last week. And yes I managed the google play services thing as everyone suggests!
Now what?
Thank you and im sorry for the somewhat crappy English ^^

Well for starters, try going in to the recovery and clear Cache and Dalvik Cache. See if that works. And if that doesn't, then you always have the nuke option, download a full ISO for OOS and flash it to fully reset your device. (You can also simply reset through the recovery but flashing OOS all over again might fix any faulty firmware)
Check out the link in my signature. It should give you some ideas.

Download wakeup detector lite it have a non root mode but before you need to connect phone to pc and install the app and give it permissions to access battery stats

edit: reflashed b306 and b307 installed sucessfully via ota. the google patch still seems to be may5
I have BTV-DL09C100B303. Didn't see -B307 on firmware finder. Pretty strange: I'll check again.
BTW the -B303 is stil BlueBorne vulnerable and introduced some annoying bugs.
EDIT: no way still -B303).
EDIT/2: blueborn-rampant-gbye-m3-thanks-fish
I think by now we know about your panic.....go on and change and things are ok. But please stop. I have never heard, never had and probably never will have to deal with Blue-whatsit.
I for one knew beforehand that Huawei are not too keen on updating.
I also would be interested in which file needs to be used from the above....I had the same problem using Firmware Finder....

No quote. Who are you writing to?
EDIT: yes, I guess it's me.
First, I'm not in panic since I'v been waiting for months.
Second, that was the last check before shipping the tablet back, because I like(d) it a lot.
Last firmware check got no news, so I regret to say that it's not my problem any more because I'm not an M3 owner any more. As simple as that.
Of course each one of us is free to make its own choices, I'm not here to complain forever: I acted as a Consumer and the Producer was damaged by its own behaviour.
I'm not a zealot: I'm a second chancer, anyway. So maybe I will be back again with something else.
I hope that for that time, Huawei will have learned the lesson.
No quote because I am referring to the post before mine.....
I fear the harsh reality is that Huawei wont learn any lessons from your postings, no matter how often you point to them.
Anyway, best of luck with your next device.
I forced this update as soon as it popped up on FF today. Comes with November security patch, emui 5.0.1 (can't notice anything new btw), and low resolution power saving mode is still not working, but oh well. The changelog mentions better touchscreen calibration and improved battery life but I can't tell a difference. I'm pretty happy that it got updated, hopefully they'll fix the low res mode for power saving, back on emui 4 it made a big difference in battery life.
This version is not vulnerable to blueborne btw.
The only difference I've noticed from B303 after 5 days is an increase in standby battery drain. Very annoying.
Actually i have the 303 version whit firmware finder and I saw that there is a compatible version of 307 dated 20.10.2017. Are you reecomended to force the update?

Well, people complaining in mass with Huawei, or better some americans suing H. for millions after being hacked because of BluBorne... I imagine those things could change Huawei's behaviour.
Anyway, best of luck with your next device.

Thank you. I will keep an eye on Huawei products, though. By the hardware point of view they are very nice, but this Huawei's attitude of considering software security as "not so important" is anachronistic.
Hi there. I'm from Germany and use a BTV-DL09 with firmeware C100B303.
I would also like to Upgrade to B307. I saw that there are 2 Versions available in Firmeware Finder. Which one should I get? The 2,4GB or 500Mb?
500mb i think is ota, 2,4 gb is a complete rom
What should I use for updating my Mediapad? The full ota or the small one?

Same there , on 8.1. I uninstalled it...

Well I'm rooted and flashed with EMUI Flasher Tool.
177 is newer than 178! No more difference just a number difference like always published by Huawei. Flashed today everything working fine and smooth.:good:
Thanks,
goldybewon
Hi, i have today installed 178 and for start battery goes down faster than on 161.
How is with 177?
Cheers
Yes. Battery seems to go down faster on this one and I also noticed a little weaker signal reception. That might be a problem.
I will try tonight after work 177 if that acts same then back to 161.
I was surprised with battery on 161, 2 days with heavy use now not sure about this fw
After s10+ with sd855 p30 pro holds first few days well or it's a just placebo effect now.
Cheers
Well the signal strength issue was really bad for me. I had a lot of missed calls due to the phone not ringing. Where I've got usually 4 bars, now I had 0-2. Some of my calls didn't make it through. Trying to flash back .161
so funny
Flashed back 161 all ok now

Your can downgrade and change region.. Your call..I wouldn't attempt to install it until you'd changed region though.. It'll be released once oppo decide to release it for the global device. They're always behind for some reason.. China-US relations maybe
standby charging is bad in 2213 c20 version. Is it fixed in c21?
After a few charging cycles I can not notice any difference. The battery just as good or bad as before.

I can't imagine playing games on this thing. HAHHAHAHA!
The battery life with games would be like an hour or two max. REGRETS REGRETS REGRETS!!

This phone/updates are killing me battery wise. 4k auto and 120hz but i guess it shouldn't be this power hungry... Lost 1 to 2% just opening xda dev and writing this response.
