Did you do a factory reset once you updated to ONE UI PEI 9 ? As it's best to wipe your NOTE 9 then see how you get on!!

Ring Samsung and get battery replaced!!

I see the same but no detriment to battery life. It is the same on Pie as it was on Oreo (around 6hr sot)

Same there , on 8.1. I uninstalled it...

Huge system battery drain

So I left my phone at around 90% yesterday night with both WiFi and data turned off with no apps running it background and when today I woke up all my battery was drained. I did some research and people suggested to delete google play cache etc which I did. I am still wondering about the real culprit and the reason behind this.View attachment 4582529

You have the same problem that I had. (Not bad as yours...). As you can see, all the core clocks are at maximum speed, draining battery. The solution is to change the 'scaling governor' from 'interactive' to 'ondemand'... But to do so you need to unlock bootloader and root the device. I did this last night and my battery is fine now.
You could also delete the cache+data from google play services, and reboot your phone (turn wifi off!). You will not have the problem anymore (but if you switch the Wifi back 'ON' it will come back after a while).
See more abou this problem in the thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/help/frequency-sd660-stuck-maximum-t3832366

I see..well this sucks..this was not the usual case before, can you show me what a normal CPU profile looks like ?
also will this void my warranty if I root & unlock BL but not flash a custom ROM etc?

The normal cpu in iddle looks like the SS i've attached... It should increase clock when you're actually doing stuff, but, if the phone is iddle it should go back to the 'lowest' setting, which is what is currently in my SS.
And it will probably void warrenty, but I'm not sure... Good luck!
I am really surprised we are facing this issue even after having Android One. Wish I had waited and gone for Poco.

This issue was happening in pixel 2 as well, months ago... There are people here in the forum that own this device and does not have the problem... So maybe we're unlucky?

Go in the 'CPU' tab and change the 'scaling governor' from 'interactor' to 'ondemand' (you need to apply this in two itens, each item control 4 cores - its under the section "Big Governor" and "LITTLE governors") then reboot device.
Use cpu-z to confirm if the value was indeed changed.
Quick solution is to reboot. Fixes the issue but it gets triggered again! Submit a ticket on the feedback app.. a lot of people are affected by the CPU maxing out

It is just $50 more expensive and is available in India. No BS.
Xiaomi doesn't even reply to people or keep them updated like OnePlus does about the current issues and ETA of OTA.
A2 is like 230$ and poco is over 400 on gearbest for example. OnePlus yes sure they reply but they are lying all the time.

Poco will have their own bugs, don't worry.
this is Xiaomi world, good hardware, good price & lot of bugs.
I'm curious as why in CPU-Z, my processor is labeled as SD636 2.21ghz but the model is 660.
As for the cpu frequency, mine was like that until I stopped using the fingerprint and switched to trusted face.
It didn't get stuck ever since.
Now it discharges by 12% per hour without games, give it a try :good:

Galaxy Note 9 Camera Night Mode

Hi ... Galaxy Note 9 users have you got the night camera mode update? I am a SM-N960N user and still have not received updates until now, have you not updated?
Nope. I've got the N960U, and so far no joy. I got a security update last week, but it wasn't the one with the Night Mode.
I have received the updated a few days ago.

.173 worse battery life?

Hi guys, is it just me or the latest European update for the dual sim version, .173, has worse battery life? I mean, with the first release...it was a f..ing monster. Now...BS. barely 1 full day. Thanks.
.178, my bad
Yes. I was googeling all over. It's rediculous. The battery was awesome. 2days. Same like urs. Not a full day. I have no clue but after the upgrade to emui 10 the battery sucks. I have no clue what to do. Can we go back to 9?

I have no idea man, I wish to go back to the first andorid 10 release at least, .153 or what was the number. Thank you, at least I.am not crazy, I will probably sell my phone, the battery depletes as we speak. Never saw this in a huawei phone... it is really sad
I also downgraded to 9 until and waiting to see if they fix this as when I was on 10 beta I had lost over 40% of SoT.
9 is fine for me atm

Ooh, ok man, thanks for this, to be honest its the first time I heard of this, but it makes sense. So I'll give it a rest for a week or so and then see if it does recover or not. Thanks again.
I'm experiencing a random drop of performance too, might affect overall battery life? Hope they release a more stable version next month

You can downgrade to EMUI 9.1 v9.1.0.260 using HiSuite PC version 10. Connect your phone to HiSuite then check for updates. It will say you're on latest and bellow you will have an option to return to an older firmware (in this case EMUI 9.1 v260).
Pay attention that downgrading from EMUI 10 to EMUI 9.1 will Factory Erase your device, so don't forget to backup before proceeding

So yes, I confirm that after going back to .168 the battery life is again great, not struggling to get through the day. Now I am at 13%, 1day15hours standby and 8:30 hours of SoT. SO there is a fault in .178, at least on my device.

Thanks for clearing out, m8 :highfive: So it's better on EMUI 9.1, maybe because is more optimised then latest EMUI 10, but is good to know that for better stability and greater battery life EMUI 9.1 is the way

General Google play services battery drain

My S21 ultra battery is giving me around 4.30 hrs of SOT which is way too less compared to what others seem to get.
The main culprit of battery drain is Google play services, Which uses around 9-11% of battery.
I tried every trick to reduce the play services drain but nothing is working.
Please help !!
bro...don't sweat it..I have been on this boat for a long time and still no hope...it seems some samsung service is running intermittently in the background which requires Google play services...else I don't see any other reason why this would be eating so much battery...the question's what is this samsung service...
Clear GplayS, Framework and Google Backup Transport data.
Clear System log files (I use the old Device Care app to do this).
Get Karma Firewall from Playstore and firewall block GplayS*.
Disable autosync in gmail, disable all cloud storage and cloud backup (Samsung and Goggle).
Disable all carrier, Samsung and Google feedback.
*normally can be safely blocked. Unblock to manually download gmail; a brief unblocking lasts many hours for this.
Unblock for Playstore then reboot.
Playstore is another one to firewall block or use a package blocker on when not in use.
Up
I cleared its cache, then wiped all device cache in recovery, and now it's only 2% with 1 google acc in full sync.

It's a Samsung app that comes bundled with the 10+.
I'm still using the factory load Pie firmware and same for Device Care.
Newer versions dropped using 360° because of security issues... Chinese spyware concerns.
Those newer versions are inferior; 360° does an excellent cleaning job for logs/apk files but you need to keep it isolated

Yeah you'd need to get an old copy of it.
Haven't track the company since they got ratted out over a year ago. I know the way I'm using it that it's safe and as such is useful to me so I continue to use it.
It's a very useful app that I've also used to track down problems with system apks too as it allows me to see when any apk is opening by showing it's memory cache (manual resets to do so).
Lol, it's one of my black sheep apps that I wuv.
But then i need to disable the new one or?

My Note 10+ Snapdragon variant was a hot running battery hog too until I toned it down.
They all can do that.
One of the reasons I stay on Pie is because I don't want to have to do that again!
It took quite a bit of trial and error to get it dialed in.

It's all good; the 10+ is a fast running, very stable platform that gets good battery life now.
If Samsung and Android don't start doing better I may end up getting another N10+ as it still fulfills its mission well.
