Mi 9t pro wi-fi issue ( not oppening certain apps ) - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hello there! I would like to say a big thanks to this community since i use it for years and it was very helpful .
Recenlty i bought a mi9t pro with eu global rom . i updated it on MIUI 11.0.3 . But the problem from the beggining (and on MIUI 10 ) was this :
Certain apps like zedge , 9 gag and much more dont load with my wi-fi . When i use a VPN or mobile data they work . Also with wifi ( tested in only in mine ) when i update apps its very slow ( google play store is too slow ) . I said to flash a custom rom but i kinda like the official so is there any solution to proceed or i have to flash a custom rom ?

I had the exact same problem. Like, the WiFi was just fine and then all of a sudden apps stop loading content as if I had no connection at all or just load really slowly.
I did 2 factory resets, and the problem remained after the first, but now after the second I don't notice anything. If it happens again I will surely unlock it and flash xiaomi.eu or Pixel Experience.

Oh I meant that I will correct the mistake in my comment.
As for the fact that it didn't fix it, it also didn't fix it for me after the first try, so I tried one more time and it's fine now, but I do have a feeling that it will happen again so I'm ready to unlock it.
Oh, and, are you maybe using VMOS? The only difference I made between resets is that after the first one I installed it and this time I didn't. Don't know if it has something to do with it but I know that one of my friends also says how his WiFi speed seems low ever since he installed VMOS.

Just to let you know that you probably might have to wait about 160hrs before you can actually unlock. The first unlock will fail and then it will let you know how much you have to wait before trying again.

You mean ?? D.n.s in my router settings ? Because i have cloudflare d.n.s.

I have slow speed on wifi too, on mi9t pro.Trying factory reset, restarting router...in speedtest also i get slow results. On the mi mix 3 and on iphone 11 i get max speed on wifi, on speedtest as well getting better results on mi mix 3 then mi9t pro.Sometimes slow loading in apps, slow loading browser as well. With data enabled everything works great. I have gigabyt connection, my router can provide only 100 mbs/s on wifi, so on mi9 t pro i get 20-30 mbs, and on other devices ~90 mbps.
Another problem with wifi iv got is that when you have wifi off and want to turn it on, it takes some time until is get connected.I have two xiaomi devices mi9t pro and mi mix 3.
On mi mix 3 when i turn on wifi, is get connected in 3-4 secons.
On 9tpro when i turn on wifi, 9-10 seconds.
Anyone have the same issue?i'm on global rom miui 11.0.3.

It's exactly how it used to be on my phone. At first I thought it was because of VMOS or the private DNS I was using (dns.adguard.com) but then I set the AdGuard DNS in the router settings so that basically every connected device uses it and of course every other device worked perfectly fine except my 9T Pro.
That's when I did a second factory reset and strangely it has been 3 days since and it didn't happen yet. Still, I am probably going to switch to xiaomi.eu Beta so I don't care if it happens again.

Well, that's good to hear (I mean the fact that WiFi is okay and other stuff). As for animations, they recently added new kind of Android Q style animations, so I guess it's expected that they are a bit buggy considering it's Beta anyways. I mean, Beta is usually very stable and these kind of bugs slip through from time to time but they fix them within a week so it's okay. Funnily enough, the xiaomi.eu team fixed the SAI bug (it's an app that's now required for installing YouTube Vanced) and I don't think the official MIUI team will ever fix it.

Updates are over OTA, so you just click check for updates, and updates are coming weekly on beta.
Stable is current at 11.0.5 wich is ok, updates are very rare, i opted for beta (20.2.20) for daily usage and for weekly updates and improvements.

Playing Pokemon Go and GPS!

Hi guys, i'm almost bying the Mi8 but i want know about the GPS issues....
I'm reading that a lot of peoples are facing problems with the GPS, how bad is the GPS? They Fix with some kind of updade?
Any pokemon player here can help me?
I know this sounds like a cry, but i have an Oneplus 5, and i'll buy a new device soon from china, unfortunately i can't test until the person get back to Brazil. If someone could help, i'll appreciate. Thx thx
I have the same issue, impossible to play sometimes. Could not fix it yet
I don't know why everyone is talking about issues?
My Mi 8 china with miui 10 from Xiaomi.eu has not a single problem with gps. Okay it is not as accurate as they advertise but 4m is fairly good!

Whitch version do you use? Chinese or European?

Humm, maybe the European software version is better than China version?
I really really like the Mi8, but so many persons with GPs issues...
One question, how much accurete is the GPS? You can stay in one place without problem?
Thx for the answer
@thiagoserrao
I have not a single problem with it same as my Oneplus 6.
Speak Thiago. The problem is that the appliances for sale, is Chinese variant. And as the device has not yet been released in its Global variant, many users with the Chinese version system are having problems with the device. All this is just a lack of optimization at the moment.
Mine is already on the way, and soon I will pass the Global system version. Since we will not have our language in the Chinese version. The device is recent, and its development is still crawling.
I come from a Nexus 6P and this is no doubt the best GPS I've had in a mobile phone. In my experience, the Xiaomi is much much better than the Nexus, both faster and more accurate. I'm using the official global ROM but the Chinese ROM was perfectly accurate as well.
after play pokemon go the mi8 gps will lock and no data received with gps test tools
My new buyed MI 8 from Taiwan store has GPS problem,
I noticed when I play pokemon go and the gps not found message appear and disappear
I shut down the pokemon go and open gps test tool
no data will be received
I restart the phone and stuck
I must turn off it by push power button 10 secs
and start it again
then the gps test tool can receive data from gps

Yes, I keep getting it.
Miui Global 9.5 / Stable 9.5.13.0.
2 days ago I installed the "Gps status and toolbox" app from the play store and used the "Manage A-GPS State" option to reset and re-download the A-GPS XTRA Data.
After rebooting no issues for the whole day. Today the annoying message is back.
Don't use MIUI 9. Try MIUI 10.

Sometimes i install the MIUI 10 on my ONEPLUS 5, but i always got the message "GPS NOT FOUND", same problem that you are getting on MI8, i think this is really a Software issues :/. Well, thx for your reply, i really really appreciate! If this problem occurs to me, i'll have to install the Lineage or something like that :x.
Hope my Mi8 don't have this problem :/.

I unlock bootloader yestoday, all data reset, and reinstall app again . I go outside and open google map, the gps get position soon, but after 50 mins without shutdown google map , I found the position is not changed, the gps hang. I use gps tool to clean and repair agps data , the mi 8 soft restart , but the gps is still hang, I shutdown and turn on the phone again , the GPS live again.
My mi8 is running global stable version miui 9 9.5.13.10. I saw the newest develop version miui 10 have many bugs , so I am still waiting the right version released.
By the way,Taiwan version do not have the Band 28 LTE, just include B1 / B3 / B7 / B8 / B38 / B41,and suppot 2CA include B1 + B3、B3 + B3、B7 + B7.
Use gps mode with only device to prevent from fused lcation service lock gps
I flash the 8.8.7 global developer miui 10
Gps still hang when pokemon go or gps test tool run
Even when camera use location tag
You need shutdown the phone and force restart it by click power button for 10 secs
After some test, I use the gps with only device mode
The gps is normal for 30 hours without hang(gps tool shows no gps, not 28 gps without signal).

Strange google maps problem

Hello all! I am running the latest official EEA rom (10.2.26.0). Every 3 or 4 hours, when I open google maps and try to navigate to somewhere it shows that I am offline. The phone is connected to the internet (i open a browser to check and it works). The problem is solved with a simple reboot. Has anyone noticed the same thing?
I googled and found that one possible solution would be to uninstall and then reinstall the updates to google maps, via the play store. Try and update if it helped.
Thank you crazybill, I came across the solution but thought it was just an answer like "Have you tried to turn it of and on again" . I will give it a try and report back in a few days. I am preparing myself for a factory restore if everything else fails!
You might want to switch from the EEA ROM to Global. Xiaomi has been having problems with bugs on supposedly stable MIUI builds but the MI 9 EEA ROM seems to be plagued with far more serious bugs than the Global.
When I was running EEA there was a bug that killed the sound from incoming calls on Volte and disabled WiFi Calling. This was on a "beta stable" build that Xiaomi pushed out to many phones (including mine) via OTA. That was last month but there have been recent reports on XDA from MI 9 owners running EEA who are currently experiencing the same issue.
Reportedly the latest EEA OTA is also bricking some phones--but that's why I always unlock the bootloader on Xiaomi phones. The same thing was happening to some owners of Mix 2, Mix 2S and MI 8 phones--a routine OTA bricked their phones. With your bootloader unlocked it's usually easy to recover but with a locked bootloader it's virtually impossible unless you are willing to open the phone and attempt an EDL Test Point reset.
You might also want to take a look at your phone's location settings. When I got my MI 9 running EEA out of the box the location settings were set to a power saving option instead of high accuracy which I didn't realize so Google Maps would lose my location periodically.
Google Maps also didn't have all the permissions it should have had and didn't ask for them which I think might have something to do with the privacy laws in the EU that the EEA ROM was created to comply with.
After reading this, instead of just doing a factory reset I switched to global stable (I had already asked for unlock permission but never got around to do it). Google maps work without any issues, thank you very much

Find Device Closed Unexpectedly

I got an OTA and updated to global miui 11 v11.0.2 and faced this problem.
When I use my Mi 9 about 1~2 days it suddenly reboot and get "Find Device Closed Unexpectedly" message
Does anyone know how to solve it?
same problem, MIUI Global 11.0.5.0 (QFAEUXM)
Same issue after Miui 11 (11.0.2.0 and 11.0.3.0). "nice" to see that its also happening on EU Roms, was already thinking about to switch back from global but looks like its not worth it.
I did a clean installation 2 days ago to see if it fixes the issue, but after 1 1/2 days it's back.
Edit.
Uninstalled now the xiamo device search via ADB. Lets see if this brings any improvement.
Edit2.
Not the best idea, device ends up in bootloop after reboot.
i used to get "find device closed unexpectedly" about once a day and it always happened at the same hour. i tried everything including ADB, hidden MIUI settings etc. to get rid of bloatware etc. - didn't work. then i changed to a USB router instead of USB tethering and there is no more issue
I did a clean hard reset and did not restore any data or Google backup on my device.
Everything was working fine for a week but then I set alarm clock and added a mi notice widget on Homescreen. As I woke up the next morning I had the error message again so I removed notice and widget and I forced stop app in app info.
Since then the error is gone again. Fingers crossed!
Does anyone find any same procedure sat its device? So maybe we can surround this problem?
Mine also comes up with an error message, something about not being able to log in to the sim card, I forget the specifics, I can always find it through Google anyway.
Same problem
I tried literally everything to wipe out the error but its still on my phone and freaking me out. Because I went on every foru google tells me, i watched any Youtube Video and tried and tried and tried. My only hope is a system update but who knows if that can fix it.
Good Luck to all of you with fixing this problem
I tried euu and global rom, both have the same problem. Not only in chinese rom. Hence i went back to miui 10. xiaomi is totally clumsy about android 10.

any solution ?
Maybe in Android 11 they will fix it...
I found a solution in another forum:
The unexpected interruptions of mobile and WiFi connections were forced because of AdGuard app.
What causes Adguard to block my internet connection?
I have noticed the same issue with all latest versions Stable or Nightly. This behavior has appeared for several months already. DNS Adguard / DNS google: same thing if AdGuard off 4G is working fine no trouble with wi-fi
forum.adguard.com
It looks like that there is no solution for that until today so I switched to AdAway VPN and the issue since then is gone.

How To Guide Workaround for 90HZ lag

As everyone here should know, there is a problem on the device where after a while using the screen at 90HZ, the interface starts to lag and it is necessary to restart the device. Here is a palliative solution, but for some it may be definitive:
1 - Make sure the screen is at 60Hz. Go to network settings and switch from 4G/LTE to 3G;
2 - Put your device in airplane mode;
3 - Change the frequency to 90Hz again and restart the device;
4 - Wait for startup and remove airplane mode;
After that, it is possible to use it without the problem mentioned above.
Tested on MIUI 12.0.11 and 12.5.1.0 EEA.
In some cases, after performing this procedure and returning to 4G, the device may not present the problem for a long time. However, it is likely to happen at some point, as it appears to be connected in some way to the mobile network. Hope it is helpful.
Alternative solution Edit:
Found by @wetito, working for some, but for me It didnt, try by your risk.

I don't believe it. But it could be some inconsistency in drivers or hardware. Phones from Realme like Realme 8 5G/Narzo 30 5G also have this problem.
in normal use now i don't see any rilevant lag. but i have not tested in gaming. only video streaming, social, ecc. you have already enabled the gpu render on developer option? also disable swap (ram extension) is a good thing to do. Facebook not lag also via web browser. with 90hz. if the system lag, facebook scroll is terrible. tmy render graph is normal. you can see on screenshot. software render and swapp are the first causes of lagging in most of systems. also for PC
edit: also choose a good theme is important. recentrly i tried a theme from store that cause a lot of system lags within 90 and 60hz. so my conclusion is that lags aren't necessary related to 90hz frequence

Do you have a VoLTE SIM? Because mine is still lagging when I swith to 90hz, I have MIUI v12.5.3, and I think VoLTE and display lag is related somehow.
My phone by nothing to do it's fixed! It's odd. It's great
hi guys, i still have 12.5.1 and i have encountered this problem, why doesn't it detect the 12.5.3 update? (I live in Italy)

Question Mi 11 global Venus sudden restart

I have global Venus mi 11 phone since last security update my phone suddenly shutdown/restart or sometime freeze then auto restart.
Also sometimes force close any app mostly Twitter and YouTube.
Any solution??
Note. Phone not rooted or try not to rooted. And two time factory reseted.
Have this problem too..
Today it restarted for me too...
Happening to me recently too
I had this problem before, and my phone finally bricked 2 months ago. After that, Xiaomi got my bricked mi 11 back, and send me a new phone. You'd better backup the data in case your phone suddenly bricked (or wifi is broken).
Do you have the MIUI 12.5 or 13?
Same here, it happens usualy on mobile internet and while browsing some instagram or fb..
So no one havent find the whats causing the problem or solution to it?
For me it happends only when im on mobile internet for example 4G here in Germany.
It happens usualy when im looking thru Instagram or facebook feed. Its strange and very annoying especialy since I use 4g a lot and need it for travel. Can anyone help? Ive reported it many times but no answers.
To me it happened only once, so all good since then.
msame worries, it was unbearable!! and that since version 15.5.20 Xiaomi.eu
Im still strugling with reboots. It only does on 5G, 4G+, 3G.. I mean on mobile network. On wifi it doesnt happend at all and I think this is problem with lte signals or software. Nothing else.. Has anyone found solution? Im still waiting MIUI 13 for eu version..

No, still happends, everytime when I use mobile internet, on wifi phone rocks, but on 4G it sucks. It happends also to lose mobile network while driving for example when I am in a call and im driving, sometimes phone cant find network but my friend has it.. Its weird problem and I guess there is no solution online.. Will probably destroy this phone because of this, it annoys me a lot.

Are you rooted?? If. Yes please look in folder /root/data/vendor/ramdump.
Are there modem_ramdump files? I have and it was filling up space...
