T-Mobile V40 Operator Hidden Menu - LG V40 Guides, News, & Discussion

Tried only on the TMO variant, others feel free if you want.. Enter the numbers/symbols combo below (in red) into your phones dial pad, like you're making a phone call or you can just copy/paste it there too. No idea what most of the options are or what they do, so if you're not sure either, it's best to just look but don't touch or maybe not even look at all.

Multiline icon to disable???

may i please you to recover a fckin secret how to get rid of that stupid multiline icon on today screen??? I really really cant find it. thanks a lot.
what multi-line icon?
Picture
Sorry, please find enclosed screen capture... thank you- i cant nothing after searching web, forum and registry in device... probably am blind
Have you got two numbers?
just 1
No i have just one number- this icon appeared immediately after first time phone installation. In phone settings there is a tab for it but i can just choose line 1 or 2, there is no other choice in that tab.
idea
Well i tried to look into SIM manager appl and in tools I can find "list of Own numbers" tool. In that are listed Voice line 1 and 2 and Data. But even if there is an erase option I cant dismiss line 2 (it looks like i can erase just information included in an option
What network are you with?
I would guess that they can disable line 2 with a sim update
Vodafone but device is HTC (not rebranded for vodafone...)
So its either something in the HTC rom... or its your sim thinking it has two lines. If its the latter, I am sure Voda can send it an update to clear the second line.
Just tried the following: went to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIN\RIL\ALSService and changed the value from 1 to 0. Icon in the upper bar disappeared, but after a soft reset it´s there again.
I do have 2 different lines from my provider, however my second line has never worked on any PPC device.....and doesn´t on the TyTNII either - just showing that annoying symbol....
Sorry, i don't know how to get rid of that but i am searching for ages for the ALS support in WM5 Pocket PC Edition.
My carrier is E-Plus and they don't get it to work to enable the bit on the SIM card for ALS.
So every phone os which supports ALS normally checks the SIM card, thinks ALS is not supported and doesn't show the menu to switch the line.
That is very annoying.
In the smartphone edition you can "force" ALS by manually changing the reg key HKLM\System\State\Phone "MultiLineCapabilites" to "1".
I thought ALS is not supported at all in the Pocket PC edition.
I wonder if just exchanging the TAPI Provider (cell tsp) can do the trick.
Hi,
you were right - I tried that option without effect. Nevertheless thank you 4 help.
Same problem here =( Did you find any solution? Right now i think it is first: possible to find the icon in a dll and remove it, the second: To install Wisbar, though both of those are not very handy.
This thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346431 , might help you figure out what is going on. Good luck.

Ye, thanks, I know the cause, but the problem is, that "1" sign is shown even when only one line is used, but though second is supported. My cell operator does provide this feature, but I do not use it. So thats why it is actually annoying - just consuming space.
Second Line....
try using the # key depressed until line changes and dial out, you'll be shocked u have 2 lines, 2 numbers.... the issue will start when u try to dial ur second number... however u'll probably find you can text to it... it just wont accept incoming calls to it...
htc diamond fully support the multiline facility...

even verizon couldnt fix.....

after i got my droid about a year ago, all i wanted to do was root it. I didnt read enuf about it and the effects of messing up, which i did and "bricked my phone".....so what happened, I was using an RSD lite method....very dumb and unplugged the phone to early (of course messing it up). Finally got it to boot back up and when i had to make the call to re-activate it my service was through U.S. Cellular!?! Took it to verizon, they said that was weird and tried to re flash it with their stock system...didnt work, they called their tech support still couldnt get it fixed. They sent me a warranty phone and didnt want or take the old phone back. It works just fine and i use it as my "test" phone. It is still on U.S. cellular service though. Dont eally need it activated but if anyone knows how, i would love to know??

you could try flashing the 2.2 sbf on it via rsdlite, since its not bricked, or you could flash a verizon radio via recovery after rooting it. Flashing a verizon radio on it should reconfigure it to verizon's settings. Feel free to pm me to further discuss this.
edit: usually when they send you a warranty phone they want you to send the phone back within 10days to avoid being charged for it
Go into recovery, and there is an option to wipe the radio data (i forget what it actually says) Try that. You might have just messed one of the parts of the radio by a small amount.

where do you see that option? its not in clockworkmod recovery. under the advanced tab there are choices to wipe dalvik battery stats and report error of the recovery but that is all. also an option to record key gpio values.

[Q] CSC and emergency numbers

Hi people !
Sorry for my bad english first.
I have a question : i have heard that the Galaxy S' CSC contains emergency numbers. Is that true ? ( it's not in the SIM card ? )
And if i flash my rom into an another CSC, could i call the emergency number of my country ?
Thanks for helping me.
I don't know if you understand or not ...
If you don't understand, tell me please cause my english is too bad.
It is US law (and possibly EU law as well) that all phones be able to call emergency numbers for free, at any time (that is even when locked or roaming). That is why at times before you are logged onto your carrier, you will see Emergency Calls Only in the notifications.
However, you need to physically dial the number (be it 911, 114, or whatever), and the phone needs to recognize that number as an Emergency number and let it go through for free. I am almost sure this information is included in the CSC for your region and cannot be edited by the user. It may also be set based on your carrier via the APN, but I don't think so. Therefore, if you load a CSC for another region, it is possible that it will not recognize your local emergency number when you dial it. However, you don't need to worry about your phone dialing 911 in the US long distance when you are in Kazakhstan or something, just because you have a US CSC loaded.
Thanks for anwsering me. I think i'm not gonna to flash my phone because if emergency numbers are in the CSC, i couldn't call emergency anymore if I have probleme.
Thank you rschenck. ( I have use the thanks button too ) ^^
Or just be sure to flash a Mod that includes your region's CSC (many have multi CSCs available), or get your region's CSC and flash it in separately once you have installed the Mod.
Also, remember that not having the right CSC doesn't mean you CAN'T use emergency numbers, it just means that the phone doesn't recognize them as emergency numbers.
Ok thanks but what means can be used but not recognized ? I don't know if you understand, tell me so, I know my english is bad. Thanks.
No worries...
A little background. As phone booths and pay phones started disappearing in the US, a worry went around that unless you had a Cell Phone with active service, you couldn't call for an ambulance or report a fire or call the cops. This was especially important back when most cell phones were prepaid, or had limited minutes. Also there was concern from some people that it took too long to dial an emergency number using a cel phone.
Therefore, it became the law that any cell phone can call a preset emergency number regardless of if you have more minutes available or not. Many phones also allowed you to enter an emergency number from the lockscreen, therefore anyone could pick up a phone and call 911 with it, even if the user had locked it.
For that to work, the phone has to recognize that the number you dialed is an emergency number, and not just a few random numbers or your local 'dial a joke". If the number is included in the list of emergency numbers that the phone recognizes (which I believe is part of the CSC), then it can call it for free, from the lock screen, yadda yadda.
However, even if the phone does not recognize the number as an emergency number, you can still open your phone and dial it as normal to summon help. You just don't get the special features that you would if the number was recognized by your phone as an "emergency number".
Oh thanks for the explanation. I'm french for information.
I just wonder if french emergency numbers have "specific functions" as considering emergency numbers as priority call or something else like that.
To sum up things, if I have a CSC different of my region ( for example : KOR instead of XEF ) I CAN call the emergency's service from my dialer ( after entering PIN code ) but CANNOT call emergency's service before entering PIN code (because it's not recogniez as "emergency number"?)
A big thanks to you for taking time to explain things to me.
Exactly, as far as I understand it.
Thank you very much ! Thanks button ^^

Programming options on Droid 3

If you enter ##7764726 (##PROGRAM), along with the SPC code 000000 (six zeroes); you can check out some stuff to program the phone settings (although I believe this holds true for all verizon phones?)
Haven't looked at all the options yet, but wanted to share this
As always, anything you modify here is at your own risk, and by doing so you accept said risk - I take no responsibility for the consequences.
I just stumbled across the same settings while looking at old threads to improve Droid X call quality, hoping some might apply to the D3.
Having had a look around the settings there's one that should improve call quality - goto "Test mode->next->next" (phone will warn "failed to get CDMA RX diversity" - no idea why but this setting seems to fail every time and cannot be set). Then select "service option->EVRC-B". Then hit back a lot to return to the dialer. This switches the voice codec for calls to a newer version, using less cell bandwidth and resulting in (hopefully) better quality audio.
The only other setting I've used is setting P_REV to 09 (was 06). As far as I can tell this has had no effect tho (I'm on vodafone in UK if that matters).
[edit] wikipedia says this about P_REV_01 to 06:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IS-95
And this on P_REV_07 and above :-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDMA2000
Which means P_REV_09, should give faster CDMA connections, providing the local network supports it.
[/edit]
Disclaimer - messing with these settings is not recommended, don't do it if you can't take the consequences.
In reference to the programming menu.. The test changes for EVRC-B do not hold. They are either reset randomly, and deffinitley after each reboot. I think this might be a lsot cause on the D3, unlike the other Moto Droid's.
I have found some use with resetting phone numbers and such when 3G has been borked for unknown reasons.

Motorola quick MEID find

There is a quick code to enter on Motorola phones to find the MEID without looking on the back. It helpful if the code had been removed or some how altered. Go to your dial screen and press *#06# . Confirmed to work on Motorola droid 1 and 4 because I have those phones, tested it myself... (worked for the older Motorola phones like the razor and other 'dumb' phones). Not sure if everyone knows this yet or not but I'm sure it has its uses.
The code is called IMEI in GSM networks and the combination *#06# is part of the GSM standard, so it works on ANY phone.
