That explains why you're not getting the update. Use samsung phone info in playstore to check csc.

Of course as long as it's same model. If you're in doubt, just flash firmware of same csc(like mine is XME as shown in phone info app)
Use samfirm/frija to download the firmware.

Buy Note 5: region block

Hi guys,
I'm an italian user and i want to buy a Galaxy Note 5. I know that Samsung use a region block. How i can do?
I see some model on eBay but if they are blocked i can't use my SIM.
Thx for your support
Nobody know something about? I see a lot of Note 5 on eBay but i want be secure.
SM-N920I has no region lock. It's the Asian model and should support European LTE bands.

Unless Samsung has changed something the only thing the region lock does is lock your phone to your region if it was not made for your region and was not first used in the region it was made for. So if you buy a phone that was made for a region other than yours and you use it in your region first, it is locked to your region and you cannot use it in another region. If it is used first in the region it was made for you can travel to other regions and still use it.

UK Oreo 8.0 Update?

Hi i just wondering when we will receive oreo update in UK?
What carrier you on?
EE , UK
Vodafone UK.....
Sent from my Note 8 (2017 Phone) using XDA Labs
I'm on EE but my device was originally an O2 one.
I had to manually install the France ROM via ODIN and I'm having no issues.
I find it a little bit odd that the Middle East was updated after France, and not the rest of mainland Europe, but ah well. The France ROM will suffice for me until a UK ROM is released.
Question: would there be much of a difference between the two?
France and UK I mean?

I think AP is same, but different BL and CP, should be better if flash with original country BL and CP.
Thats not VoLTE, thats wifi calling. Without an official ROM you cannot have support for the VoLTE protocol.
I bought my note 8 sim free and got the oreo update yesterday. I'm on Vodafone but I doubt it matters when it's sim free.
Can you confirm what version handset your on
BTU or XEU I have BTU handset and still sat waiting for Oreo
Looks like XEU
BTU released this morning

I can not get the latest updates note 8 sm-n950u

Hello
I purchased a Note 8 from America and now I'm out of America. My last update was in March
Can I get updates outside America
My mobile model number sm-n950u
I spoke with the support service from Samsung. They told me I have to be inside America to get security updates
Is there a solution to this problem ?
Try using a VPN APP.
Is strange story. I have a N950U1 US unlocked Note 8 and I moved back to Europe. I receive the security or other updates without any issue...

Changing csc

hi. sorry for this noob question because i am kinda new to samsung. my question is would it be possible to change csc from tgy to xtc? my note 9 is a snapdragon variant from hongkong. and i am currently in the philippines. and if this is possible will there be any problems like ota update and future updates of the phone? thank you and hoping anyone can enlighten me with this matter.
Why would you want to do this? As you can still receive OTA updates for your device, no matter where you are in the world. I am currently using the Korean Note 8 N950N in Hong Kong and I am still receiving OTA updates from Korea.
hi @iceepyon. thank you for your reply. my problem is if i am using samsung members app the support team answering me is from samsung hong kong and not from samsung philippines which is where i am. if i need repairs and stuff i wont be able to go to hong kong as i am here in the philippines. samsung benefits is not working as well. and some of samsung app like the galaxy app is showing hong kong currency not in peso. now my question is if i change my csc to philippines will i be able to use features that is for the local unit on my hong kong unit?

You won't be able to get support from Samsung Philippines anyway as they will be able to find out that you have a Hong Kong device when they check the IMEI number of your device.
oh ok. well i guess i am stuck with it. thanks @iceepyon.

To get WiFi calling and VoLTE
Isn't the new OS's changing CSC when putting a different region/country SIM on the next reboot, when you click YES on first boot(clean boot with the new SIM) to reset and change the CSC of the phone ?! It is one time only use after pressing NO or YES it will not show it again before wiping the phone again. My phone a DBT was set to XEO after a week on service center in Poland, even flashing it multiple times it wouldn't change from it, till I put my Germany SIM and press YES. Hope it helped a bit
It will change the last of them not all CSC
My was
DBT/DBT/XEO
and normal is
DBT/DBT/DBT
I got Canadian N960W Note 9 (Snapdragon) and first time I put Croatian SIM card CSC hasn't changed.
PDA: N960WVLU1ARJA
Active CSC: BMC (Bell Mobility Canada)
I'm still looking if there is a way to inject local CSC (SEE or DHR) into this firmware in order to get volte/vowifi. I don't really care about updates/OTA.

You need to check that your Cell Provider offers WiFi Calling and VolTE capabilities.

No Update for XSP N960F

This isn't much of a question more is it a vent of frustration towards Samsung. I am still on the July Security Policy despite Samsung claiming Monthly Security Updates. When OEM's refuse to Update their devices on time or out right at all this is when fragmentation becomes a big deal. Monthly should mean Monthly Until the end of life. No exceptions.
Thoughts?

then just update it manualy:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-9/firmware/SM-N960F/BNG/download/N960FXXS3CSH2/286019/
you can also use samfirm tool 0.3.6 or frija app to download it with ure pc since that web site has trash speeds and flash it using odin. but be sure ure pc has samsung android drivers before using odin.
i believe you could also use samsung smart switch software to check for an update and flash it too.
so as you can see you can just update the device yourself instead of waiting. read and search xda for any of the tools and ways to use them aforementioned.

I was hoping to do that however I checked on there for mine. My product code is XSP which is the Singapore Version and the latest one is June 1st which im already on. If I were to flash a different region's firmware could I just use Home CSC to keep XSP? Thanks for the help

you can probably skip it all together. but your csc is the carrier code. if the phone is not carrier tied then you should either use the link i sent which is multi csc and would probably contain your sim CSC or find out the carrier code matching your carrier/sim.
read up on samsung and CSC for more details.

i have the same model but i believe it's something to do with the region instead of the carrier.
In comparison withe the firmware for both SG and PH, PH received 2 updates from July (CSF9 and CSG3) as compared to SG which only received one (CSF9).

Yeah, I think ill just wait it out because flashing over a security patch seems like a nuclear option. Hopefully in arrives in the coming weeks. Thanks for the help and information though everyone I appreciate it.
You guys are touching a contentious issues with the way Samsung delivers update in Singapore.
Due to the national telcos bottlenecking the process, Samsung phones are getting much lesser updates than the rest of the world.
As an example, Galaxy Note 9 in Europe (UK/DE/FR), version N960F which is identical to the one sold in Singapore received a total of 24 updates, including 4 different built of Android 10/OneUI 2.0 and is up to date with the March 2020 security update.
In Singapore, the Note 9 received 8 updates and the latest is from October 2019 with the October security update.
