I recently updated to Android 10, from 9, and One UI2. Previously when using whatsapp I had configured the settings so when I had a notification it would say content hidden on the lock screen, and when I slide down the notification shade on my home screen it would say something along the lines of '1 Message from 1 Chat', but wouldn't actually show who it was from or a preview of the message. I have managed to get the lock screen settings back to private, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to configure the notification shade to hide what my messages are saying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it makes a difference I'm running SW-G975W on Telus, with a Galaxy S10, and ON UI2. Thanks in advance.

My lock screen looks like that with some of the toggles I was able to find. I meant when I unlock my phone and drag the shade down from the top of the screen. When I was on Android 9 I was able to hide the content of the message so it told me I had one, but didn't say from who and what the message was. I think it might have been 'Hide Sensitive Content' or something similar but I just cant find the right combination of toggles to hide stuff on my shade.
I been looking for the same thing can't find anything that works for new LG v60

Hey, just a few things I'd like t clarify before I buy the One. These are basically things I couldn't test in the store
Regarding the shortcuts on the lock screen:
If you have a password/swipe/face/watever to unlock your phone, is this bypassed when using the apps? i.e. if I have my gmail link there, can someone slide up on gmail and get straight in, or does it require a password. And if so, does it then also require a password when sliding the camera?
Regarding notifications:
Say you have a notification from facebook in the notifications slider at the top of the screen. Does Sense 5 allow you to swipe that notification away, like stock android does?
Killing applications:
On my galaxy nexus, there is the button that looks like two overlapping squares, that brings up a list of recent apps. Is there something similar to this in Sense 5?
Cheers

that would be a major security flaw ! it's not the case.

I haven't used other locks beside the swipe, but it does seem that swiping the icon up in the drawer will jump right to it.

What you are talking about it "multitask" and yes, if you double tap the HOME button, you'll bring up the multi-task menu where you can swipe apps away. FYI, this is *not* the same as a task killer.

Any idea how to allow Gmail and Hangouts apps notifications on lockscreen? If I go to Notification center in Settings, I cant find these two in list of apps. So I cant enable these to have notifications on lock screen. And there is no settings for it in these apps directly - so what now? Cant pull down notification list on lockscreen - seems disabled. So I can see only that I have Gmail/Hangouts msg - I see status icon, but no preview...
Sorry to say if they are not in the Notification Center then there is no way to turn them on. Huawei seems to exclude Google apps quite often.

Seems like its the case. But even when app has lockscreen notifications enabled, it just shows general message and not content. For example viber is showing only notification that you have XY nee messages, but not showing actual content even when specificaly enabled in app...
I don't use Viber but on my lock screen notifications from Skype I do see the content of the message. Overall I don't like their lock screen notifications. You might want to try something like Nils for better notifications. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roymam.android.notificationswidget
How do you like the Mate S? I didn't know they were available to buy yet.

Man just start get knowing device by exploring every corner every settings in it..

Do you have Mate S or not? Because I enabled these settings and still getting general notifications without actual texts. And I asked how to enable lockscreen notifications for gmail/hangouts, when these are not present in not. manager. Please read before typing angry posts...

Got it on IFA launch, wanted to use it few days before I write some review. Generally it seems like nice phone, great build, but runs one day and have some software issues - hope Huawei will fix these. Will try to report these through our PR guy, because I got no response at all from builtin support app (which opens mail app with filled email).
That's cool, I wish I could review it and get a hands on. However my general impression with Huawei has always been great hardware but the software has issues. If they were to scale back their skin like so many others are doing, and focus just on adding some of the more useful tweaks. Then I think the software would be matching the quality of the hardware. Not to mention faster OS updates.
I saw a video showing off the force touch soft keys on the bottom. I wondered if you could go back to regular soft keys. I think I'd rather have those buttons down there most of the time instead of trying to find where to force touch, or always having to use force touch.

HEy man nobody is angry alright ?
Seems to be a EMUI Problem that some (Google) Apps are not listed at all in the Notification Manager, so nothing to do with knowing the Phone, Hangouts & GMail which were pre-installed are just not there. So they don't have the choice to be shown on the Lockscreen ...
I got my Mate S (CRR-UL00) a few days ago, and I have Gmail in the notification settings, and can activate lockscreen notifications from there.

This may not be possible but I figured that I'd ask anyway. Is there any way to get the notification icons that pop up on the status bar to be more like the KitKat icons? I've got some notifications that show up as a plain white square on my status bar ever since I upgraded to Lollipop a few months ago.
Let me give you an example of couple that I'm running into. I have the NASCAR Mobile app on my phone. I also have the 14News app (local news) on my phone. Anytime I get notifications from either of these apps, I get a plain white square on my status bar and I have to take the time out and look and see what it is. I'm wondering if it is something in the Motorola settings that I'm missing because I am also running Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (8") tablet and I don't have these issues on that device at all.
Any help that can be given to me on this would definitely be greatly appreciated.

I've never had Greenify on my Moto X at all. These apps that I was talking about are apps that I use and get notifications from several times per week and I'd like to be able to tell at a glance which app is giving me the notification on my phone.
By the way, I've marked both apps as priority and I still get the plain white squares on these app notifications.

then perhaps it's due to too many notifications (sometimes from the same app). I noticed that on some apps like fb. on other apps like scrabble, there is a number embedded on the notification icon.
i believe there is a setting to tell whether or not to group them together or not.
There isn't anything like that on my status bar at all.
Are you asking if its possible to change the notification icon style on Lollipop to that of KitKat/Jellybean then yes its possible with the use of some Xposed mods. If the notification icons themselves appear distorted due to some reason then I'm afraid there is something wrong with the apps perhaps. A screenshot or two would have been really helpful in getting a better understanding of your issue here.
If you're asking about notification ticker, there's a module for Xposed by the name of 'Enable Notification Ticker'. I have it installed myself.

I'm not really talking about a notification ticker. I have tried these before and found them to be more annoying than useful for me. Thank you anyway for your input.

I don't know about others, bit the whole experience just feels heavier than before. Can't see any benefit except changes IN UI that don't seem to provide benefits.
The verdict must be after final beta update.

Where do you set individual contact's text message notifications? I see the "Custom notifications" in the message thread, but that's for the message thread not the contact. If you delete that thread and get a new message it'll revert to the default SMS notification sound.
I remember seeing something about pop up notifications or something, whereby one could select certain apps that would have different notifications but cant for the life of me find that menu or setting. It wasn't edge lightning either.

My new favorite feature of 9.0... actually it's probably OneUI that brings it, is the on-demand screen rotation. If you have the rotation locked, and you flip the phone from portrait to landscape and vice versa, you get a button on the corner of the navigation bar that manually flips the screen when you press it.

Yeah but I chose gestures and don't get this option. It would be cooler if it worked with gestures and nav bar
Hi,
I acquired a brand new Samsung Galaxy S20FE last week and updated it to Android 12 with OneUI 4.1, unfortunately I can't seem to remove this thing appearing on top of the navigation bar.
I tried to change the navigation bar to swipe gestures and it stays more or less in the same place. I also tried to disable the side menu and to change the launcher to Nova and pretty much explored all the settings without success, which let me believe that it is a glitch.
Could somebody tell me how I may be able to remove this please?
Thanks a lot!
maybe it's indicator for which homescreen you're on ??

Unfortunately it is not, there is another indicator for the homescreen page that shows up on top of the dock icons. It tried to put only one page on the homescreen as I figured it would be an indicator and it was still there.
When I reboot the phone, this little thing does not appear right away, it comes up after a couple minutes using the phone, if it helps finding the source of the problem.
Factory reset?

it looks like it a cut off transparent toast message but those shouldn't hang around. when you switch to gesture navigation is it the same amount of it that you see ?
it kinda looks like the navigation bar is on top of it obscuring most of it.
