I have the same issue when i try to flash the patched AP file tot the a50 it gets stuck on flashing the recovery. All other methodes so far are not working. Also, i can live without root for a while but it would be nice if it was solved.
I was able to successfully root the samsung a50 sm-a505w with the latest magisk patch available with little to no issues but this was on android 9 and i was able to successfully able to get twrp recovery also but the downside it stopped haptic feedback from working but other then that it worked perfectly

My device is BLU Dash X2 ( D110L ) running android 6.0 with Kernel Version 3.18.19.
It's an MTK phone ( MT6580 ).
I managed to port and flash TWRP custom recovery by myself and it's working find. So I decided to flash SuperSU.zip with it. Everything seem to be working perfectly but after the flashing finished and I tried to open SuperSU app a message pop up with text "There is no SU binary Installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem. If you just upgraded to android 5.0 you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!".
Please help me find a solution. I tried many version of SuperSU.zip already but the same message still appear. I also tried remove SuperSU app first before re-flash SuperSU.zip. I even tried to perform a clean stock rom flash before flashing latest SuperSU.zip and it's still the same.
I have the same phone, also managed to port TWRP, working fine after edit fstab, but no way I can root this device.
Tried with phh s SuperUser instead supersu, but no avail.
My biggest regret was buy this fone, it works fine but seems impossible to root.
Sorry for late update, you can root this device with magisk, successfully done with magisk v18.00

After flashing stock rom it seems that root is gone and phone passes safety net. However after managing to flash Magisk, Magisk is not installed in the manager and the safety net fails. It seems that Samsung devices struggle with Magisk.
Phone is Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900
Samsung devices are... Samsung.
A recovery log from the installation might show something.
I'd like to dig up this old topic again, as I'm facing the same issue.
Up until shortly I was using LineageOS 16 on my Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505, jfltexxx), but after replacing the broken OLED screen against an LCD one LOS wouldn't boot anymore and I had to go back to Samsung Stock Lollipop (5.0.1) to be able to continue using the phone (I am poor and can't afford to buy a current model phone, at the moment).
So I tried to root my S4 with Magisk 18.1 (had been running perfectly on LOS), then 19.0, and finally 17.2. The flashing completes successfully, but when I restart the phone and open Magisk Manager it says Magisk is not installed.
Is there a version limit up to which Magisk version is running on Lollipop? Or is Knox the problem here?
Currently, it's rooted with SuperSU, but I urgently need the hide feature to use my banking app.
Can anybody help me please?
Cheers,
Sascha
I have the same problem with S5 klte LOS 16 and TWRP 3.2.3-0 MagiskManager 7.1.1 Magisk 18.1.
The same device type, is running with this setup.
I have tested with other version, but the same problem.
But of all my KLTE devices cannot install Magisk 19 -> boot to download mode (I have not yet had time to look for the mistake)
I tried the version 16.7, 17.1, and 17.3.. all of them make me to get stuck in the bootloader ( MI logo turn on and then off rebooting).
The 16.4 makes me boot to the ROM, but in magisk manager it says that I still don't have the root rights.
I'm trying to figure it out for hours but seems that I can't get the root at all.. any of you know how to fix this? Thanks.. :crying:
At least if magisk is not working, there's a version of SuperSU compatible with android 9?

I got the same issue. It is may because we dirty flashed different version.
In my case Xplore apk was disabled from root access without reason. I just uninstalled/reinstalled it and that brings back the root.
Try it
Hello,
Do you find a solution please ?
Solution please
No solution? Help-me please!
Me too facing the same issue. Version 16.6 is working. But can't update to latest. It leads to bootloop.
Is your device Chinese version and not international??
(My android version is 7.1.1 and i'm using the stock rom). I'm flashing the zip file with TWRP, everything seems fine but after restarting I don't have root access. Magisk says that I didn't have installed the zip (I have OEM unlock enabled). Do I have to boot from recovery to activate Magisk (but that was for Android 9.0+ right) ? I found some tutorials on Youtube but they weren't as it worked for them but not for me. I would really like some help as I don't know what to do.
[Solved]: Installed version 18.1 which worked for me
Hi everyone.
So I had a moto x4 for about year and a half before fricking up the charging port. So I recently acquired another one. Everything went smoothly the first month or so, with twrp properly installed and magisk too, but then I tried to install a magisk module and the phone bricked. I tried restoring via twrp backup but it didn't work and I ended up in a bootloop. So I flashed a stock rom. And when I wanted to install twrp it just didn't stick after a reboot and magisk would just get my phone stucked on the splashscreen.
I realized that, for whatever reason, a previous version of magisk would work (magisk 18.1) but I've no idea why. Magisk 18.1 is the only version that works. If I flash any other version from twrp my phone gets stuck on the splashscreen, same if I update magisk via magisk manager. And if I try to install any magisk module my phone won't start. But root permission works fine on other apps i.e. system app uninstaller, root explorer or swift installer.
Does anyone have any idea? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
