Im facing an issue with my device, probably software but i'm not sure.
Sometimes, when i click on each application, device will behave oddly. Display freezes at same position where i click, nothing happens but after a moment is device confused. It starts clicking randomly, f.e i click on Facebook Messanger, it will pop up application, then i click on some message but it start to open other mesaages, doing random calls etc. If i tried get back with back arrow or home button, it get me to the launcher or back to messanger. Then i try restart phone obviously, but restart button does not work, i feel like it register click somewhere else.
Anyone got the same? I did factory reset, update to 10.0 but nothing changed. I've never did any software intervention like unlocking bootloader or flashing any custom rom.
Thanks
Haven't experienced any of these on my mi9 lite, might be hardware issue. Does it happen only when charging? Asking because back when I had the mi5 it behaved like that when I was using it while charging with a particular charger from ali if the phone had a case on.
Those symptoms you mentioned are more akin to a hardware problem. You might want to consider resetting your phone and locking the bootloader. Then you should RMA your device by sending it back. If is still under warranty then you should be able to get it fixed or replaced.

Upon rebooting of my HD7, many times it will show the HTC logo, then go straight to a screen showing the device being plugged into a pc. It will continue to do this regardless of how many times I reboot. The only way out of it is to reboot into the bootloader by pressing power and volume down, and then rebooting from there. Ive tried to plug it into a pc and let the zune software reflash the whole thing, but it complains that there was a problem with the restore... and when I do get it to reboot, there are NO probelms at all! (Besides the memory problem with The Harvest crashing out to the tiles like everyone else it seems). Has anyone else had this problem? Weird thing is, the first phone the TMobile sales rep brought out did the same thing! I wonder if its some kind of problem with the actual bootloader?
Had the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833003
I'm guessing there was a bad batch somewhere, a very limited batch as you're the only other person I've seen say this
FYI. I've had this happen too. I had to pull the battery to get it fixed.
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express
Same problem, if the phone dies and you turn it back on you get "connect your phone to computer" screen (and the phone loops turning off then back on to the same screen, and then repeats); and if you manually turn the phone on and then back on you get "connect your phone to computer" screen as well.
Battery pull is the only fix at this point. I haven't seen much of this problem either, if i find out its a hardware issue i'm getting mine swapped out ASAP.
I had similar issue just downgraded it to nodo using goldcard and the issue resolved.
Cheers.
Okay, I have been having a serious issue with my D3 lately. One time, my phone just randomly rebooted, and then it would get stuck at the red "Droid Eye" screen, where it would be laggy and such after a while. Eventually the screen would time out in like 2 minutes. After it turned off, I could not get it to turn back on. Basically dead, except I could still get notifications and even a phone call. But I could not act on any of them. it's like the phone's heart is still beating, but I can't turn the screen on. I pull the battery and reboot and it does it again. SOMETIMES if I keep touching the red eye screen I can get to get to the lock screen, but the wallpaper won't load and it's basically frozen. I even tried booting into safe mode and that didn't help. I took it to Verizon, they said they've a couple other people with a similar issue on the forums. They did a factory reset, and that has been the only solution to the issue. I have had it 3 times now, and this time I'm sticking with the Blur launcher and keeping only the essential apps installed. I'm assuming this is a software issue, and I'm currently trying to figure out if it is related to a certain app that was installed. Hoping they will fix this with an update! ANYBODY ELSE HAVING THIS ISSUE? if so, any leads on another fix or what it could be?
sounds like a software issue. a factory reset doesn't do anything other than change the software.
I had a similar issue on my droid 1. it was rooted and when I installed a gingerbread from I forgot who, it got stuck at the eye, kept rebooting, and occasionally, i'd get calls and it still wouldn't work. I look forward to root.
out of curiousity, did you have to take it to the store to factory reset or is there an option for it in the bootloader(I know its locked but I have no idea to what degree)
The first time I took it to the store they did it for me, but yeah there's an option in the bootloader. Just took my back to Verizon cuz this was the 4th time it's done it, they're sending me a new one! It's okay, cuz my nice screen open 'click' sound was gone on the keyboard lol
Hi,
I have a brand new Xperia SP, manufactured on 2013/W50, so it's really new. It contains the latest stock firmware.
After I start or answer a call and put the phone to my ears, it's screen doesn't came back and remains off until the call is ended by the other party. No matter if I'm moving the phone away from my head, not even the hard buttons are turning the screen back on. The touchscreen is not working either. It's just stuck as if it's near to my head. I can't even hang up the call...
It happens about 80% of time. Sometimes it works as expected without any problems. Happens more often when having an incoming call after a longer period (30+ mins) or if the call takes more than 1 minute (auto screen disable time?).
As a workaround, I turned on the function that power button hangs up call, but I cannot use my touchscreen while call.
I checked the proximity sensor with the phone's diagnostic function and with cpu-z and the sensor is just working fine 100% of the time.
Is it a known bug or a hardware problem? Does it have a workaround?
hmmm

I have the same problem. It is one of the few bugs in 12.0.a.2.254 build. Guys using unofficial release of 4.3 are not facing such problems. I suggest you to wait for the official 4.3 update which will be released soon according to SONY. :good:
really?

thanks!
so, this is surely a known bug in the 254 firmware? I'm just wondering because I asked this on other xperia sp forums but no users complained about it.
is there a workaround for it?
yes

Yeah, few r experiencing that. i hv seen complaints in sony blog and here too. I asked this question few days back. but, I didnt get reply.
I experienced this problem once.I think it was fixed after performing a SEUS repair...Not sure though :silly:...
Try performing a factory data reset on even reset app datas
thx

thanks to both of you, I'll do factory reset and repair via PC software, and some more factory resets. that should solve the problem.
I'm wondering why an out-of-the-box phone needs a reset, but let's see

thanks. I won't backup as I installed only a few apps and the phone is almost factory state. but I'll do everything else.
hope it works. thanks to all, I'll report the results.

I hope everything goes fine
no success
I reset applications, did a factory reset, reinstalled phone's software with sony pc application, checked after each step, but no success...
sometimes working, sometimes not (mostly not) but the proximity sensor works fine.
out of ideas...

Bring it to a sony service(or how's it called to your country)
it seems it's related to deep sleep. when I am called after the phone was left for 30+ minutes, it's more willing to not turning on the screen, but it turns it on after a while if having a long call. when I start the call, it mostly works. not always, but most of the time.
so it seems it's not sensor-related but something like the software is bugging.
what I don't really understand, why the hardware buttons are disabled while phoning when the phone is put to the face. it'd be enough to code that power button turns on/off the screen no matter what the proximity sensor says. I'd program it like that as a backup solution.
I wouldn't send it for repair, here in Hungary I always hear that mobile phone services just reinstall software and don't care about testing or finding the problem (if not deterministic), and do it again and again while you get tired and accept the failure. yes, it's sad but in the time of MNCs, the user doesn't matter at all after bought the product.

Try flashing custom firmware(not sure if it will work try it)...
If it doesn't work again then it's a hardware fault and not a software bug

yes, that's another option. the other option is to cry off from purchase (I can do it within a week), they return the money, and I buy another one. I'll see as this is not that disturbing problem and I have no other problems with the phone like wifi bug or anything else.
someone said it's a bug so I hope 4.3 next month will solve it.
Hi, this happend already to me few times so I decided to put it on here.
Sometimes when I pick up my phone and try to unlock it nothing happens, fingerprint and button all the same it looks like it completely Off. Then i have to press few times a button to actually start it and it's booting. There is huge battery loss after it boot up. See image.
I am in Stock 4.0.2 no root just few standard apps installed. Nothing fancy. This happend already few times to me. I left the phone locked and when I want to unlock its dead. Also it is behaving weirdly, when I turn it off manually I just need to press longer a button and it's turning on, but here I need to press it few times to work.
Does it happen to anyone else?

Honestly, there's not enough information to understand exactly why it's happening. You need to get a logcat in the time before the reboot; unfortunately, logcats get erased during a reboot so it might be a little tricky getting it if the reboot is seemingly random. Someone had posted this as a possible way of getting the log:
"Retrieving the logs is tricky, since the log cache gets erased on reboot. If the phone reboots even while sitting on a charger, try running adb logcat continuously (you will need Android SDK and USB drivers installed and configured on your PC.) When the phone reboots, look at the last several pages in the command prompt window for any errors or abnormalities."

Otherwise, it's hard for anyone to help. I'm not much help in actually figuring out the issue, but I know if you can get the log, someone else probably can help.

Yeah I was trying to connect it to PC but nothing, so it is turned off. I will try next time to run command when turning on, maybe there will be something but I do not see it working before it gets erased. I was hoping that anyone else is having this problem so it might be rom related. It is completely random so you can;t guess when it happens.
I had it only few times so it's not super annoying but still it is not normal behavior. In addition it is weird that battery went from 55% to 33%, just phone reboot will not drain that much... I hope there is nothing wrong with the phone itself.

Check in advanced to see if schedule off is on
Nope it's off
Happened to me to on 4.0.2. Rebooted twice a day.
Solution to me was Qualcomm flash back to stock 3.5.1 and uodate from internal to 3.5.4. OTA 4.0.2.
The theard "how to unbrick".
Not one reboot until now in days.
I think I found a culprit responsible for it. It is Hill Climb 2 game which doesn't close properly sometimes and I think it causes some kind of crash in the system. Is it possible?

It's possible. Not necessarily the reason, but it might be. Either uninstall the app or freeze it using Titanium. Greenify might also work, but that allows the app to start itself up and potentially continue the issue. See if that stops the crashes for a couple of days.
The problem is that it doesn't happen often and only when I quit the game and lock the phone immediately after that. I am not sure if that's a reason though, just guessing because it happens after this last time. I will uninstall this game anyway, it's just time eater
On April 6, my Mi 9 started turning off at random times - I tried but was not able to reproduce it, so could not identify the root cause to any app / battery level / etc. I could turning it on again by just pressing the power button. It would be stable for a couple of hours until it would shut down again.
On April 7, same symptoms shown, but just pressing power would not turn it on again. I had to press volume up and power, get to recovery menu and mark "reboot to system".
On April 8, same symptoms show, but this time, no key combination would turn it back on. If I connect the charging cable to power, no led would blink and there was no battery charging animation. Connecting to the computer, there was no USB device identified. It was dead.
On April 9, in the morning, while trying to turn it back on, it would blink the notification led twice, but that was it. So I sent it to a service repair shop - not a Xiaomi authorized service repair.
On April 13, the service repair shop has provided me a quote for fixing the phone: reformatting the phone. Since for me this was a hardware and not a software problem, I collected the phone back.. and it was working as if nothing happened, no software was updated.
On April 14, it shut down again, twice. Pressing the power up worked fine.
On April 15, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the software again with MiFlash on fastboot mode.
The phone is now stable, although it's my secondary phone now - so I use it much less frequently. But since I have no idea what triggered the problem, I don't know if the phone is stable enough, or if the issue will repeat at any minute - especially when I most need the phone.
Also, I tried contacting the service shop technician, to check if he reconnected the battery cable or checked for any short circuit on the board, but couldn't because of the lockdown. So I have no idea why phone is back from the dead, and no idea if/when it will turn itself randomly again.
So my question to the experts:
1) What could have caused this issue with the phone? What are the possible ways to monitor / check what could have caused the issue? Is there any way to capture a crash report after fact?
2) How can I ensure that this won't happen again? I already reflashed the phone, but I wonder if I should do something else..
3) What can be done to try to reproduce the issue? If there is a way to learn from the phone crashing, what are the things I can do to improve the odds of the phone crashing again?
Thanks!
Update: I left the phone to be serviced... and they could not find any issue with the phone. It is now working, but I'm pretty sure in 1 or 2 days it will stop entirely again...
.. and have no way to monitor it
tha same problem here. my mi9 suddenly died! what can i do? waiting the service or buy a new one?
the same problem, my phone just suddenly said the system was destroyed
Same problem here. Service said "no warranty - damage due to damp"
I doubt it. But now I have to handle it on my own.
@lusp00ky: Does your phone still work after you re-flashed it?
Still hope the best ;-)

Unlock BL and clean flash did not work for me.
Now it is dead until the battery is drained. After that it can be brought to live again by a charger.
I don't get it. -.-"
