Got a Canadian version P20 Pro, but when trying to activate the google pay pay in stores, got the error "This phone can't be used to pay in stores. This may be because it is rooted or altered to some other way."
Anyone saw the same issue? I didn't boot it even not unlock the bootlocker. Or is it due to I activated private space?
Its rooted?
If you are, you need to install Magisk. My device was rooted and has the same problem. Magisk sometimes works, I think on certain versions. So I finally gave up and relocked my bootloader and unrooted.
I need my GPay
No, it's not rooted. Contacted huawei technical support, they said could be a firmware issue and I have asked for a replacement phone. I will see how the new phone works.
I recently unlocked my bootloader for Magisk plus some tweaks I wanted to do.
Everything was fine untill I realized that I cannot get Google Pay (Tez) to work on my phone.
My phone passes safetynet check and also CTS check.
Registered my device for play protect and now it says Certified under the play store settings. Somehow Google pay still refuses to work.
Any solutions?
I've had a P30 Pro since launch (March 2019) and when I first had it, I remember being able to make NFC payments without unlocking the phone, as I could with my previous Galaxy S8+.
Some time between then and now, when I try to pay for something in a shop with my phone, nothing happens (the machine doesn't even detect the phone).
However, if I unlock the phone, open my banking app (Barclays Bank), log into the app and try again, the payment is instant.
Any ideas?
Does anybody use mobile payments via NFC on X2 Pro? I cannot make it work on my EU version. Tried a few places and the terminal always says that it can't use this card.
I am using it every day with no problems. Maybe you have badly set your Google Pay.
Can you suggest how to set up nfc in gpay im unable to set it up
It works for me aswell, i did just enter my card info in gpay app, and it worked.
Check with your bank and se if your card/bank can use gpay.
perfectly working
Sadly there are no payment apps that support NFC in India
It was my fault. I wanted to pay via my banking app, but it turned out they deprecated hce payments. Gpay works well.
I also used mobile payments via NFC and I can say that there were always problems with this, which did not end. Seriously, as soon as they fixed one problem, another one would appear. Then I was looking for an online gambling payment for myself, so I needed an option that would be a little more reliable. It just pisses me off when nothing depends on me and makes me wait. Not that I'm a big IT specialist, but every time you fix something that you don't have to fix it quickly gets tired and annoying. Hopefully they'll do something about it or they'll just lose customers like they did in my case.

SBI Card pay (for SBI cards) works just fine with NFC. Not sure about other cc issuing companies.
So after some testing and failing on the contactless terminal at the store it seems that there is no way Google Pay will work with this device. Tried all NFC modes but nothing makes the device do payments on any terminal available. Samsung Pay is not supported where I live so whatever the bank supports is what I have to use.
Do not expect contactless payment to be working unless maybe Samsung Pay works. Does anyone using this device actually have Google Pay working? There is some user reports on Reddit with the same problems.
Concierge service will not support Google Pay not working as a reason to do service on the device either.
I have the 5g version and bank with starling google pay works for me
Google Pay working well on my Fold 5G (UK)
