[Xposed] (Security) Disable Quick Settings Pulldown on Lock Screen - Google Pixel 4 Themes, Apps, and Mods

This is just a simple Xposed module that disables pulling down the notification shade / quick settings tiles while on the lock screen (but doesn't break media player controls on lock screen). Only tested on Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL on Android 10 (more on this later).
Background: This has always been an annoying aspect of Android for me, and it's dumb from a security standpoint. Being able to pull down the quick settings tiles on a locked phone is dumb. Why hasn't Android natively built this in yet? Using this and Gravity Box to disable power menu on lock screen makes me feel a lot better in the event my phone ever gets lost or stolen. It's dumb that anyone can steal your phone and immediately toggle your settings (turn off WiFi, Mobile Data, toggle Airplane Mode, etc) and/or turn the phone off... I've been spoiled for years by the OG HTC devs (particularly LeeDroid and Team Venom) and their ROMs with these features baked in, so it's back to using Xposed to fill that gap for me and my wife, lol. Anyway, I pair these mods along with the Lockwatch app from Play Store and it gives me more peace of mind. Hey, anything to increase the chances of recovering a lost or stolen phone, am I right?
Credits / Technical Details: This module is based off of char101's published Xposed Repo module, and all credits and thanks should go to him. This is the first app / APK I've compiled so it was a nice learning experience, but it was all based off of his source and I really just needed to remove a few lines of code to get it to work properly with our phones. His mod worked fine and disabled the quick settings pull down on the lock screen, as intended. The problem was that it would also prevent media player controls from functioning (and I would assume other possible functions as well). To fix this, I just removed DISABLE2_NOTIFICATION_SHADE references from the code, leaving DISABLE2_NONE and DISABLE2_QUICK_SETTINGS untouched. The mod still works perfectly as intended. Only tested on Pixel 4 / 4 XL on Android 10. I'm sure it would work on other devices as well.
I really just did this on a whim for me and my wife's own phones and wasn't planning on sharing it, but I figure other people may have also wanted this for their P4's as well, so enjoy. Again, all thanks go to @char101!
Installation:
- Download .APK file attached to this post.
* If you have char101's original module installed already, I would highly recommend uninstalling it first.
- It's an Xposed module. Install the APK and enable in your Xposed Manager.
- Reboot and test.

thanks for this!!! any difference between this one and the one posted on the XL forums?

Nope, they are exactly the same. I have a 4 XL and got my wife the regular 4, and so I've been posting on both forums to share some of my findings on both devices. I just figured most 4-only owners probably won't be checking the 4 XL forums, and since this mod worked perfectly on my wife's phone I wanted to share with both communities. Glad to help though!
PS: Please try to refrain from quoting the entire OP, it makes the thread kind of cluttered. Just for future reference. =)

thanks much dude! gonna try edxposed with this module for 1st time after kitkat days. Miss those easy android days.
Appreciate the effort youre putting for sharing mods and patched boot imgs. Cool guy

[Q] Change CM10.1 to work in Tablet mode

Just recently pulled my old DS7 out of the corner and after seeing, nvflashed this really great Unofficial CM10.1 for Dell Streak 7 ROM on it. Works great, apart from the one tiny problem - it thinks it's a phone ... I already used Uninstall Master to remove some Phone features, such as: SIM Toolkit(it's called Mobile Data i think?), Messaging and Mobile Network Configurator. Was wondering how or where can I change or modify the settings related to how the Cyanogenmod acts as a Phone or a Tablet so that many apps from Play Store wouldn't default to the portrait mode.
On a sidenote - thanks to giveen and anyone involved in making this really awesome CM port to DS7 :good:

Understandable, but since I have a Wi-Fi only version I wanted to know if It's possible to change this in form of a setting or a few lines inside a configuration file without involving compiling. I even faintly remember stumbling upon something like this on a CM9 version I had on my old Xperia MT15i Neo ... if only I could remember or find where or how (currently strolling through the developer and CM10 related menus) - deleted my Xperia related bookmarks when I sold it.
p.s. - people mentioned some problems with the on-screen keyboard disappearing as described in one of the posts on the main CM10.1 thread, I've noticed them myself too and they tend to be application specific ... it feels like the keyboard crashes or force-closes due to not enough memory, like in lighter applications the keyboard works fine, but when trying to use the keyboard for writing for example a post in the comments section in a website will most likely result in keyboard disappearing after first input character.
So I am still trying to figure out why you started a new thread about this and what your question is.
To remove mobile data completely requires a new compile, something that cannot be done right now for a variety of reasons.
I guess I simply went too far off topic while trying to explain why I'm writing here... sorry.
So, to clear things up, the question still remains the same - what can I do to make it act more like a tablet and less like a phone on my Wi-Fi only DS7. So what I'm trying to find in the developer and CM menus is if I can more or less simply switch between some sort of "phone" and "tablet" mode so that some applications from Play store wouldn't default to portrait view mode.
And I noted that I've already uninstalled/disabled (call it how you want - I can restore them from the Unnstallers Recycle Bin if something weird starts to occur) some of the system .apks and as You already pointed out:

... so thanks for clarifying that and no need to do any special versions - it's just fine how it is now. I didn't come here to request anything to be compiled or modified for me but just to ask for info, heck, I wasn't even expecting You to be answering on this thread.

I'm not sure what more you can do besides deleting the phone. Comment out in build.prop the rild stuff
I wonder if he is referring to TabUI? Which I as well am trying to relocate the flash able .zip which enabled this display difference. I have been running cm10.1 2/12 because of the sensors not working on the 2/14 build.
Sorry to piggyback the thread, but is there an answer for where the tab ui .zip is for the 2/12 build?

FRUIT of A DAY'S READ - link collection for solving problems on +3

Hi guys,
while my +3 [received yesterday] is booting up to CM13 I've thought I'd put together a quick howto/problem-solving link collection for those who doesn't know better and for those who knows that he read it someplace but can't remember where
This is a collection of - almost - random links to threads, downloads, apps or to individual comments helping you to solve problems, pretty much based on my personal preference. None of this is my work although I collected them while reading the +3 forum from top to bottom for almost a whole day...
I've tried and followed some of them but most of them just a collection for later us [pretty much a 'note to myself' kind of stuff].
So let's see what we have here and I hope this might help somebody along the lines...
Solutions:
Previously set PIN/fingerprint does not work after Nandroid backup
How to get twrp STICK after boot
Is it possible to root the OP3 without INSTALLING a custom recovery?
Camera hack in CM13 (YMMV!)
OxygenOS cleaner script

How to Unlock Bootloader, Flash TWRP, Root, Nandroid Backup and More !
Systemless Xposed if you use Android Pay
ElementalX Kernel for OnePlus 3

How to test USB-C cables
Downloads:

Apps [to overcome the problem of [currently] missing features]:
Please note that none of this needed if you are on CM13 as they're right built in.
DualSim Ringtone - free

Thanks. Haven't tried that one it did say 'in app purchases' so might be a trial version. I'll edit OP accordingly.
Please note that if you flash CM13 then NONE of the apps needed as you can configure different ringtone to each SIM and you are also able to set up the Do Not Disturb function to turn on automatically AND you can configure the related HW key as well...
I'd love to hear some feedback on the "Push Notification Issues" solution you mentioned, mostly about how it affects battery life.

I have not experienced the issue myself, I've just made a mental note while I was searching for issues I might come across later on.
Mind though that I don't use FB/Twitter/any chat clients on my unit only gmail and hangouts (for text messages as well)
Also it's worth to mention that I'm on CM13
BTW if anybody has any suggestion to update OP with new solutions to issues just let me know

Are you upgrading to 10/OneUI 2.0 yet?

Hello there,
Since Android 10 is finally out in final version for our beloved Note 9 Exynos, how many of you are upgrading, and why? Also, for whom will choose to stick with Pie, again, why? And last, for those who are still on Oreo, what are you waiting for?
Personally, I didn't see that much new features that I really want to use right now. Mostly some tweakings here and there in some interfaces, but nothing really new, looks more like a modded version of Pie . I'm not a fan of the new gestures either, I think I'd keep the navbar anyway so... I'm gonna wait a moment before upgrading. And I'm mostly waiting for Swift Installer/substratum/Goodlock compatibility too, can't live without those
The thing I'd like to try out is DeX on PC, but again I don't really have a need for it. I'm more sad to lose Linux On Dex when I'll upgrade.
What are your opinions?

Still no upgrade here ? middle east user N960F/DS
There is no question about should you upgrade or not. Unless you want to keep vulnerabilities, you have to update to the newer OS (if any) to get the latest security fixes.

True. Or to get newer vulnerabilities ?
Will upgrade the second the official OTA drops. I'm a non-root user and have been waiting for the battery limiter feature that's finally present in One UI 2.0.
Edit: No toggleable charging cap in One UI 2.0. It seems the battery limiter means preventing draining your battery too low when using wireless power sharing in the S10 and up.
Waiting for a decent rom like The Galaxy Project to offer it. Only one so far is Dr Ketan's which won't even boot for me despite 3 clean download and install attempts.

Have you updated your bootloaders and modem files to the latest version?
It usually works with the bootloops.
all the best
Except dex on windows and say good bye to linux on dex, nothing really new.
Only one big problem, as samsung block you to revert back to a stable pie os version. Latest pie is a no with bootloader 4.
Its all marketing I see
I received it yesterday in Morocco, I was using VPN (Germany) but I can't confirm, it is a bless, smooth and new features, I tried dex on pc : amazing, I still need to Check the battery
Just a quick update, to tell that I've finally upgraded because the "new update" notification kept showing up and I got bored of it. It went pretty well, and I'm trying to get used to the new gestures after all, I'll see if I can use them nicely. I'm only afraid to be confused when using my older S7E which doesn't have those. I'm using Hexed+ as a replacement for Swift Installer, waiting for the latter to be updated. Also waiting for Goodlock apps to be updated (for example, to put the clock on the right side again).
No upgrade yet i m from The Balkans. Still waiting for the update OneUI 2
No upgrade. i am afraid of battery life. On pie april patch, my phone battery last longer than pie july patch. I am living with it. but i do not want to lose more juice of battery. will upgrade if battery life improves.

Can you confirm what else was working in pie and not working in Q ?
Also give a try with linux on dex.
For clock on right you can use systemui tuner.
Software update notification can be disabled too.

What's not working:
- Linux On Dex (displays an error like "you must be on latest firmware", so I guess it doesn't recognize the phone as compatible anymore, which is the case as I've read - it's a kernel issue)
- Substratum and other overlay systems like Swift Installer (you could still install unsigned overlays on Pie on the Note9 but that's a thing of the past now. Hopefully there's Synergy (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.samsung.theme.compiler) which allows using some overlays by using themes - the Android 10/OneUI 2.0 compatibility is in progress).
- Some SystemUI controls, like the clock position (I've tested it all, even the tips involving right_clock_position)
- Good Lock, which isn't updated yet (and it should solve the clock position problem)
So fat that's the only things I miss on my Pie install. Most of them will simply become available again soon, or can be replaced by other means, so that's not so bad. About the new gestures though, I miss my browser shortcut I had setup with NavStar, and also I kinda don't like the wasted space it introduces to allow for gestures. Well, I'll see when NavStar is updated it I simply go back to the navigation bar (I'll be able to use some gestures with OneHand Operation +).
About Linux On Dex problem, on my rooted S7E I'm using Linux Deploy (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.linuxdeploy) but on my unrooted Note9 I'm currently trying a combo of Termux (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux) and AnLinux (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=exa.lnx.a).
And I couldn't disable the notification, didn't find a way to do it at the time. I guess now it's too late

What about SystemUI Tuner , doesn't let you to move the clock? It's on play store.
For linux like ubuntu kali debian arch parrot fedora manjaro give a try with AndroNix ,same is on playstore.
For navbar, you can get back as in pie from settings.

I indeed tried AndroNix and one of their optimized OS, it's good stuff

Looked for this too, but I always find commands that gives permissions to SystemUI, which doesn't really help If you have something to try out, I'd be happy (but if it involves the keyword right_clock_position I can already tell that it doesn't work)
Do not like an iOS like software experience thanks to Google wanting to copy Apple.

[MAGISK] Ambient EQ Tweak

Hey all,
Just wanted to share a simple Magisk Module that tweaks the Ambient EQ on our phones to behave more like Apple's True Tone feature. This idea and module was originally created by @MishaalRahman and published here. As you can see the article was published in November 2019, and the structure of Magisk Modules has since changed. So, the module that you can download from that article no longer works. I've simply updated the module to be compatible with the new Magisk Module file structure and function correctly on our phones.
Instructions and Notes:
Note: This module was originally created for the Pixel 4 (Flame). Due to the Pixel 4 XL (Coral) using a different panel, this module may have unintended effects on screen color and gamma that I have not been able to test. Give it a shot if you'd like, but YMMV.
Install via Magisk Manager or flash the .zip using your favorite Kernel Manager and reboot.
The module has been submitted to the Magisk Module Repo, where it will be able to be downloaded directly from the Magisk Manager app, but it is awaiting approval.
Download (AFH)
Original Author: @MishaalRahman
Original Module and Associated Documentation: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-4-ambient-eq-tweak/

Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Like two months without the module working and you fixed it.
After normal installation, the performance of some apps is significantly reduced.

Wild stuff. I'd assume it's because you're using Android 11 beta. The way this works is basically an overlay for System UI, which I'm assuming has seen at least some moderate changes from Android 10 to Android 11. I'm not entirely sure why it would break things like SMS, but I would definitely assume that this isn't compatible with Android 11. This will be something I'll have to work on when Android 11 officially drops.

Yeah it doesn't make any sense but at least with this beta it does that.. and it is totally easy to reproduce for me...
Any update to make it work properly with Android 11? Just asking.

Unfortunately I may just abandon this idea. It turns out that this module was actually responsible for the frustratingly horrible performance I was experiencing when using Snapchat. Like the phone totally locking up for 5-10 seconds sometimes for seemingly no reason. I know Snapchat is a massive piece of ****, but unfortunately, my tries to convince several groups of friends to move to a different app have been unsuccessful. After removing this module, performance was restored. Because of this, along with other reports of sluggish performance when using this module, I'll most likely discontinue working on this for Android 11.

Yes. I was one of the ones that reported problems even with sms after using this module.
So sad! Thanks anyway

***CLOSED*** Enable Samsung Gallery secret hidden settings

Turns out that the stock Samsung Gallery has a secret menu, and it`s easy to enable it, take a look.
Moderator Edit: YouTube link removed due to violation of XDA external links policy.
Best part is that it runs on One UI 3.1/3.0/2.5 and 2.1 so even earlier devices should benefit.
Test it for yourself and let us know here what you were able to activate or de-activate.
Doesn't do anything on my Note 10+ /Pie.
Damn! Which version are you using (Gallery & One UI)? It should work back to One UI 2.1 - can you try again - you have to aim for the last few digits - I myself did not get it the first time...

Gallery 10.2.00.19/ One UI vers 10.0.40.6
No go with this version.
Samsung is fond of hidden secret menus. Who knows how many there really are?
I found one by accident over a year ago.
Really? Those goofballs would have you tapping on everything. It's more than just annoying.
Anymore I cringed at updating any Samsung apk other than Wearables. Last update on the Good Lock family of apps left it with dumb looking creepy dancing icons on the main menu and zero tangible functionality improvements.
Small wonder I'm still running Pie; don't need AT&T/Samsung and Google screwing up -my- N10+!
I found a few more in Bixby (allowing capsule test) and S Health (a bit more settings) - still testing them...
Agree - stick on Pie - unless you dont want to test next versions
I finally got it to work. You have to press on the version number several times not the word Gallery. Kind of interesting....
I tried and it did not work, but i tried harder, and being pixel perfect? It did work on A32 latest version.
Works on my S21+ (stock) with all the latest updates. Thanks!
