Why you need root?
N950U has a LOCKED BOOTLOADER which CAN NOT be UNLOCKED!
If you are good in reading and searching xda then look up safestrap and Extreme Syndicate.

Your bootloader can NOT be UNLOCKED!
You need to have a good understanding on how to recover your phone when **** happens. The safestrap thread and the Extreme Syndicate thread is not the easiest but not hard either to do so you need to read and reread and comprehend what you read and follow instructions.
So read those threads and ask yourself do I understand the instructions/steps to do it and do I know how to recover my phone when it fails to a missed/failed step or bad file.
Search for any questions you have, it might be answered already, if not answered then ask specific questions on the steps you don't understand.
So read first and understand what you need to do so take your time before jumping in.
I haven't rooted my phone so I haven't done the 2 methods so can't help you, sorry.

[Q] unlocking Xperia T Help

Hi,
I am trying to unlock my Xperia T so I can run cyanogenmod, but cant unlock the bootloader menu to run fastboot. I read that if the screen below says "no" then it cannot be done.
Is this true? Is there any way around it?
Any help will be appreciated

You should add it to your all in one thread in big, bold, red letters.
I took the liberty of performing a search for you as you are obviously unable to do so:

I bet it does, I just looked through post 2 of that thread, and it is written at least 3 times in there.....
Maybe if I can get it down to just every other day I have to answer this it will help.
Or, I could be mischievous and just start saying yes, of course it can be unlocked, but I am not going to tell you how!

To unlock the bootloader you need a magic key that ony Thor possesses:
I must add this to the OP of this thread,
Please do not be afraid to ask question in these forums again, but please PLEASE use the search function first. I (and others) are very keen to help, that's why we are here, to help each other as we were all nobs as well at some point. But the first and best lesson I learned was to Search and read and try for yourself before asking questions.
thanks for the replies, yes i know, should have, would have, could have etc...
One more question: why is it that some xperia T's can be unlocked and some not?
Please use the search function before opening up threads. Thanks.

Verizon Nexus 6

I am thinking about getting the nexus 6 this week. I have looked around this thread and have some questions.
1. Is the bootloader for the Verizon nexus 6 unlockable? (If so, please add a tutorial link)
2. Does Xposed installer work with this device?
Thanks

1. Yes, the same way as every other Nexus device, so just read the stickied guides at the top of this section.
2. Yes and no. It works on 5.0.x but not on 5.1.x, which is what your device came preloaded with. I'm not sure what parts of your firmware can/can't be downgraded if you really want to roll back to 5.0.x to use Xposed, so maybe someone else will chime in with those specifics.

I certainly would like to roll back to get Xposed. Also what roms do you recommend for this device? And could you link how to root/install custom recovery? Thanks!

Do you know where I could find how to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.x.x? I really would want Xposed installed!

If you downgrade from 5.1, do not revert your bootloader. Downgrading bootloader from 5.1 to 5.0.1, then eventually back to 5.1 could potentially lead to a brick.

My first suggestion would be to use the search function provided by XDA. As I'm sure you suspect, all of this information is out there waiting for you to find it.
Look through the Q&A forum. I'm sure you'll find answers there.

It's OK to downgrade system.img and boot.img. Just don't downgrade your bootloader. Unless you never want to go back to 5.1.

No need to be sorry for anything at all. Except, maybe owning a Samsung lol!

You'll find, that there's a guide written, for pretty much everything you want to do. The steps are simple and fast. Just read the relevant threads and be sure you know what you're doing. Once you unlock your bootloader, leave it unlocked. Flash recovery and root and have fun!

This guy does a ton of rom reviews for our phone on YouTube http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2992769
Can someone please help me find the thread on how to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.2? I have looked everywhere and haven't found anything. Plus I'm new to unlocking (came from samsung) and I certainly don't want to mess anything up

Since you're unlocking and getting a custom recovery anyway, all you have to do is flash a 5.0.2 rom and 5.0.2 kernel. Most devs have updated past that, but you can find links to their older builds usually from the same download folders.

I would suggest that a little bit of patience might be in order here. Xposed is very popular, and I can't imagine that it would be more than a couple of weeks before it's functional on 5.1.

Guys, have you tried something like using Google to search for "how to unlock n9500 bootloader"? I just did and the first result was a thread here at xda with all the info you need for that, magisk, etc. No need to ask in separate threads. It's a basic question, so just search for it and you'll have your answers.
