I live in Toronto and considered myself lucky to find someone to change my cracked screen. All seems great, accept now my fingerprint sensor isn't rally working. Every other aspect seems to be perfect. Anyone had this issue? Anyone changed screens? Anyway to reset the fingerprint sensor other then erase and try again?
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA.
Maybe he forgot to reattach it and your phone basically has no fingerprint scanner now? Idk open it up and look for yourself.
Thanks.
Was it an AMOLED screen, AliExpress sellers are now selling TFT LCD replacement screens, alongside AMOLED screens, at about half the price. LCD screens aren't good with FOD ordinarily.
I replaced mine back in December with an AMOLED, but I've been on custom ROMs where the FOD isn't as good as stock anyway, so couldn't say if I'm getting as good performance as before. It recognises my left thumb 9/10 and my right thumb 5/10, and never as fast as stock, which seems about par for the course with custom ROMs. I considered flashing MIUI just to test the FOD properly after fitting the replacement screen, but never got round to it.

Thanks for getting back to me, yes it is an AMOLED and I do have an update!! It works perfectly once the screen is on. If I remember correctly I was able to use the scanner from the lock screen with the animation of the fingerprint.
Now I can only use it if it's in the on position showing the time etc. so I just used lift to wake so it works 100% now.
Thanks for the attention.
I have the same problem, caused by replacing it with a screen from a random ebay seller (local warehouse).
After looking through a few Aliexpress listings I noticed that some product descriptions contain a note that they sell only a compatible part, not an original. Others state "100% original" or something along these lines. And many just don't write anything... I assume most of them are fake, if not all.
It is definitely a OLED, but the fingerprint gets almost never recognized, it is hard to complete even the fingerprint setup. Only works if I increase the brightness manually. The screen goes somehow much darker in fingerprint mode, instead of making a bright cyan dot like the stock part. Enabling the screen before unlocking helps on mine too, I think the reason is the higher brightness there, but still not as good as before with the standard screen.
In addition the image is a bit worse, especially looking closer at solid grey, it looks grainy. Normally it should look clean. Do you see that as well?
Scrolling is also not as good, doing a fast fling results in a much slower movement than with the stock screen. It works and might not be as noticeable, but having two devices side by side reveals quite a big difference. I bought another 9T just to try this...

I doubt my screen is original, but it's definitely good quality. There's no noticeable screen quality issues, either with display resolution, colour or motion. Haven't compared it against another Xiaomi/Redmi display, but against other FHD+ 60 Hz AMOLED displays on a mid range Samsung and a top range Honor, it's just as good.
I have the same exact issue after replacing my own screen. It seems to have to do with the finger print animation lighting up when your finger gets in contact with it.
I've disabled the finger print method completely and that seems to help.
I'm not sure how to fix this though, as I would like to use it the way it was intended myself.
(btw factory resetting the phone helps with the success rate of the finger print sensor if you haven't tried that)
Perhaps if you need to buy a new display, I bought the "AMOLED Black" variant available here. Has been replaced on a Mi 9T, everything works fine and it's as good as the original display. It seems like the price has dropped significantly, almost 50%.

Yes, it's all working. I only have no idea what the difference is between "AMOLED" and "Original". I assume that perhaps Xiaomi certifies those displays as original, however, they're most likely the same as the "AMOLED" displays, maybe with slightly better color accuracy. I didn't notice a difference between my Mi 9T Pro and the Mi 9T with the replaced display.

I changed the display but I have problems on my MI 9T Pro with MIUI 12.
5 dot instead if 10 dot touch.
Double Tab To Wakeup didn't working.
Fingerprint sensor didn't working (restarts after using).
All these points are working on your phone with this display from AliExpress?
If yes, I will buy this display too .....perhaps .....

It's not my phone which has the replaced screen, but from what I know, everything is working. Besides that, they're quite cheap now (I had to pay double for what they retail now since it was cracked roughly half a year ago). The total job would cost you under 100 euro to get it replaced.

The screen used on my device was this link (the amoled model) and everything you described is working perfectly:
https://it.aliexpress.com/item/4000691686320.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.41084c4d4VnhIQ
A summary of the situation:
Until MIUI 11, the MI 9T / K20D [PRO] worked normally even when their screen was replaced by non-original screens with only 5 multitouch points, sometimes described as "tft" or "oled", including the fingerprint scanner.
Most of the screens available on internet sellers are of these types, and vendors often insist that they are original. The easiest way is to check the number of multitouch points, if it is not 10, it is not original.
After upgrading to MIUI 12, the fingerprint scanner of the MI 9T / K20D [PRO] equipped with these screens no longer works, restarting the device whenever trying to register a fingerprint. This is not a calibration problem.
The only solution found so far is to replace the non-original screen with an "AMOLED" screen, with 10 multitouch points, which is either original or at least has characteristics similar enough to the original to work.
This topic has a good explanation on that subject https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/miui-12-fingerprint-unlock-defective-t4122135
I hope it helps

I have bought Mi 5 yesterday and device is great, but I would like to confirm some points,
1. Display calibration is warmer. White looks more reddish. If I set Display -> colors & contrast -> cool, it helps little.
No offense here but I have seen similar display in budget mobiles and didn't expect from Xiaomi flagship rated mobile. Please confirm with yours as I suspect I may have received faulty/fake one. Moreover phone screen is too reflective.
2. Serial number shown in Hardware Test doesn't match with the one displayed in box, but IMEI matches.
3. Phone gets warmer even during the casual usage and more hotter while using camera.
Please confirm these points, I may have to get replacement if one of these issues are unique to me.
Thanks!
1. Mine seems fine, but I might just be not noticing it.
2. I don't have this problem.
3. The phone can get warm if you are using lots of ram.
Test with miantifake and/or antutu officer first, just to ensure that it's not a fake device. Especially the screen, it has above average sunlight legibility, so the screen should not be reflective and I've had mine behave so.
Mi Antifake and Antutu officer shows it as genuine.
After some more search, I found two types of display for Mi 5, JDI and LGD. I have JDI and that might the reason for warmer display.
Would be great if someone confirm this. You can find this on /proc/hwinfo. No root needed just open the file as text file in your file manager.
IKR!!!! They told me that A2 is the manufacturer's code for Mi5. I already tried Antutu and it passed but there were people saying that the app is not always correct.

Bummer! I have placed replacement because of screen issue, let's see how serial number works in replacement one
Regarding #1:
When on Read Mode the colors get noticeably warm. Make sure it's not activated (use the notifications slider). Also, keep in mind that if Brightness auto-adjustment is enabled (check it in the notifications slider, too), even if set to maximum, brightness will be lower than the actual maximum.
To see the actual screen capabilities, deactivate both Brightness and Read Mode, and turn up the brightness from the bar in the notifications slider.
I can say that I have been using my Mi 5 for a couple of weeks now and the screen is very nice and pleasant, but auto-brightness adjustment sometimes makes it hard to see dark pictures. In that case, I just turn up brightness or I deactivate auto-adjustment temporarily...
Regarding #2:
I have the same issue. The Mi verification site verifies the box combination, but not the About Phone one.
Regarding #3:
I have played several graphics intensive games, and have watched hi-def videos on YouTube app and inside Firefox, for several minutes, oftentimes more than an hour, and I have not experienced noticeable temperature increase. I use however the official thin case for Mi 5, which may shield my hand from the heat.
Overall, it's a topnotch phone, a real flagship. If there is one thing to worry about though is this:
Almost all phones bought outside of China (and maybe India) come with a Custom ROM pre-installed. The ROM is usually an official Chinese ROM modified by the reseller in order to add adware and God knows what else. This ROM does not receive official updates, and it's a bit of a pain to replace with an official one. Make sure to flush an official Miui ROM (or Cyanogen) for the real Mi 5 experience.
So iam now 3 days in with the S10 plus and i have to say that while theres lots i love about it , iam also disappointed. Here are my complaints thus far..... I pray some of these can and will be fixed with a software update.
1 - Camera, Yes its pretty good but i expected more. No better then the S9 imo. Expected a little more from Samsung with regards the camera this year.
2 - Kepad touch issues..... I virtually cannot type on this phone without constantly and accidentally hitting the 'p' key. I do not have chubby hands or anything but whenever i need to reach across to the left side of the keypad , iam forever hitting that 'p' key and it drives me crazy to the point where i may return the phone.
3 - No notification LED - This wouldnt be a deal breaker if Edge lighting worked properly but Edge lighting is pretty damn poor lets be honest. Works fine for default messaging app but thats about it.
4 - Fingerprint scanner - Was awful initially but improved massively once i removed the pre-installed screen protector and added a second fingerprint using the same finger. However, I still find that it occasionally fails to read my fingerprint. I feel like iam placing my thumb in the right area given that the icon lights up to help me but somehow it still sometimes fails. I would say it works around 80% of the time
5 - Fast Charging - Again i expected more. Its not slow but its not fast either. It takes around 1hr 45 mins to get from 15% - 100%
For me personally i would be happy if they could improve the keypad and fingerprint issue but theres already been updates and not much has changed.

You can modify the size of the keyboard for this very reason, move it up or down until you can use it comfortably.
You can also modify the curve display deadzone with goodlock.
I'm also surprised that AOD doesn't fill the void of a notification led.. it certainly does for me.. In saying that I would like to see a notification ring around the camera cutout, I think that would of been a nice touch.
I agree with you on everything you mentioned.
I would add one more thing regarding accidental touches, I am a skinny guy, and so are my hands, but whenever I am reaching to other side of the screen, I find the screen either not responding to my touches or causing accidental touches, what drives me crazy is that I check the palm of my hand and almost always it's not even touching the edge of the screen, it's as if even when your skin is hovering few mm above the edge if the screen the phone will take it as if your actually touching it, if that makes sense.
As for the camera, coming from the Note 9, I am so disappointed with the low light capabilities of this phone, even indoors it's not up to par with other flagships, I even get worse shots than my previous Note 9 and S9. To make matters worse, Samsung didn't include a propper night mode that can compete with Huawei's night mode or the Pixel's night sight.
Sorry for my bad English, I hope I was clear enough in delivering my point. Cheers.

The S10 does have a Multi Colored Notification LED around it's camera cutout. This YouTube video explains how to activate and manage it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/b0p0o6/s10_s10_how_to_enable_led_notification_light/
Try using a light touch on the fingerprint display reader as opposed to a hard press, this is how it's designed to function.
The S10 Camera has a Pro Mode, you can adjust virtual any aspect of photos to your preference.

I contacted Samsung about the keyboard issue! All they suggest is to leave feedback. If your using the stock keyboard then it can be resized which i guess kinda is a solution but you have to bring it in from both sides to keep it centered and the keyboard then winds up been a tad too small so its not ideal! Its weird because my s9 plus was almost identical in terms of its dimensions yet it did not have this issue.
fingerprint scanner has also been a nightmare today! I could swear iam not doing anything different yet it works sometimes and rejects me other times. Its makin me miss the finger print scanner on the s9. It was so much better. Another small annoyance is how fast my battery goes from 100% to 99% lol
Battery in general is great but i charge it to 100%, Unplug it and seconds later iam at 99% .......... what the fudge ha
I used an iphone xs temporarily recently and i have to say that while it is over priced and in general Samsung is much better and cheaper too. However, Apple does things properly. It worked flawlessly and never gave issue. The Samsung is far better on paper and ticks all the boxes but in day to day use its just not as 'perfect'
Non-serious question: What would you change about the K20 Pro given the chance?
Things I'd personally go for would be:
1) A read-only secondary bootloader chip with a jumper pinhole under the card slot. To end all brickings.
2) MicroSD support.
3) No tapered edges of the glass panel; perfectly flat for use with glass screen protectors.
4) Stereo speakers.
5) Inclusion of charging limits / intelligent charging settings within MIUI.
6) IR blaster. Can't understand why they removed this.
7) USB3.0. Current 2.0 speeds are 30MB/s. Transfering GBs takes a relatively long time, more so due to MTP.
8) Digital SIM, just do away with archaic SIM cards.
9) Better vibration motor.
10) As others have said Android One as an optional firmware.
I don't understand why they put the ultra-wide lens at the bottom of the triple camera setup. If you're taking a portrait photo with 1 hand you can sometimes see your finger in the view finder... So I would change the order of the camera setup at the back and I would position the flash next to the camera module instead of below it because I sometimes cover it with my finger when I need the flashlight.
Besides that I'd love to see a 90 Hz display, a 4500/5000 mah battery and dual speakers

I was surprised to find the K20 Pro is the same size as my old 5.9" Redmi 5 Plus - the 6.39" is due to the screen being taller with minimal bezel rather than actually bigger.
Screen size seems a rather dividing area. I think the best remedy is having two panel sizes for any given model. ±6.5" seems to be the new size with flagships this year. Some manufacturers do two panel sizes but usually put better hardware in a larger "Pro" variant.
I'd like a Plus sized version, 6.7-6.9", with 5000ah battery and sd card.
Better popup cam/ rear cam, mostly. Coming from an Huawei P30 it's somewhat disappointing and taking good photos with my Mi 9T Pro can be hard. Higher hertz screen would be nice but it isn't neccesary and i rather take the better battery life of a 60 hertz screen. Really happy outside of those small annoyances.
I would only change 3 things:
1) Replace the popup camera with a punchhole camera, like the Galaxy S10. Works better with face unlock.
2) Replace the on-screen fingerprint scanner with a normal fingerprint scanner on the back or on the side. These scanners are faster, more accurate and therefore easier to use.
3) Clean Android OS, though that is easily fixed with a custom rom.

This again + 120Hz screen. Nothing else.
You're wrong about #7, it copies much faster than 30MB/s. You're being limited by another factor. This device has usb 3.0.
Assuming we are talking about realistic design choices that will not affect price (i.e. not "10000mah battery" or 1000mp camera")
1. I personally REALLY hate notches, so I would like to keep the popup camera.
2. I see absolutely no benefit in under screen fingerprint sensor, it's more gimmick than functional, better to have a regular one on the back.
3. release one firmware and one model, or at most 2, china and global.
4. MicroSD
5. Software, software, software.
Other comments I saw here are either unrealistic, or are only bells and whistles that will increase the cost but will hardly affect usability.
I would rather save 50 euros on the cost of the device than pay for 90-120hz panels.
What are they good for? fluidly scrolling your menus? "gaming" on a 6 inch screen? I don't get this refresh rate obsession.
I'd rather have longer screen on time and cheaper phone to watch my 60 fps youtube videos on.
Looks like the refresh rate become the new more=better sales point after RAM, and camera MP more or less equalized.
Also I disagree about stereo speakers, who uses tiny phone speakers anyway?
Just assholes that blast their sh*tty music in public?
There's a headphone jack and BT, that's all you need for listening to something that is not your ringtone or alarm.

Every spec list I've seen clearly states USB2.0; gsmarena included - even the Pro Premium has 2.0. I've not seen any USB3 version of this phone anywhere.
File transfers top out at 30MB/s on a USB3 port with the included cable to/from an SSD on two separate machines... which is about expected for USB2 - the theoretical limits are higher but never materialise.
Hi, I recently bought a Realme GT 2 8/128GB Global RMX3311_11_A.14 firm and have been using it for past couple of days.
What I have noticed like artifacts around black text on white background, like a bright halo under dark shapes and clear/light background, it's like a 1px brighter-than-the-background, like a broken anti-aliasing/ClearType or maybe is that the sharpness is very high.
I have tried all the configuration options available for the screen but there have been no changes. For example, in the list of Wi-Fi networks, in the password field, if you look at the black line, it is in one of the places where it is most noticeable.

I think i have same problem which is reported in this other thread for a Xiaomi phone https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/over-sharpened-mi-11x-amoled-display.4319715/
Is this normal or there's any problem with my display? Is this a Realme UI 3 issue and can be solved in following updates?
I have other three Amoled phones and this DOES NOT happen to any of them! (Realme 8, Oneplus 3T, Xiaomi Mi A3)
thanks!

Do you have DC Dimming enabled ?
I noticed that when it is enabled in low brightness and black background there's some flickering on the page text when scrolling.
But that particular issue I don't have.
Hi apsol, thanks for your answer
No, I did not have DC dimming active, I have tried to activate it but it has no effect on what I comment
with time I'll get used to it, now I know it's there and I see it. What I would like to know is if it is a problem with this AMOLED panel or rom/driver issue which could be adjusted via software
I know how it is, once you see it you can't unseen, it would drive me nuts too. Hehe
Have you tried testing for dead/stuck pixels if it doesn't show there my guess is software.
I'm on RMX3311_11_A.14.
What about you ?
Hi,
Same firmware version here, RMX3311_11_A.14 global
the truth is that I am not sure if it also happened with the A.13 because I almost updated it at the moment, I did not realize this until I was in the A.14 ...
thanks
The same problem on my phone. It is easier to see also on black background with white font.
Unfortunately I think this is a screen issue not soft
Have anyone have similar issue? Is this global problem or only 2 of us struggle with this issue?
Check if you have high contrast text enabled.
I have high contrast disable ( but the same issue is visible when option is on). Do you have this is issue? Or should I send my phone on RMA?
I don't.
If it bothers you that much return it.
Hi again,
After continuing to search for information on this issue, I found following post on reddit that I think has the same problem with an iPhone 13
https://www.reddit.com/r/iphonehelp/comments/tdy5tc
I think it's a common problem with AMOLED screens, but in some it is more noticeable than in others and it also depends on the user
after detecting it on my Realme GT 2, if I make an effort, perhaps I could say that it also happens on my OnePlus 3T, however the difference with my Realme is remarkable, the same with a Realme 8 of a family member
By the way, another thing that I have detected is a color shifting when the viewing angle is varied, much higher than in my other devices with AMOLED, it must be said that the larger the screen, the more noticeable it is
I'm a little disappointed with the screen to be honest
thanks

I came specifically to this forum to check whether its true about the screen's colour shift and font edge issues. Seems its true. Its believed that they have used the same samsung E4 hard screen, that they used in oneplus 9RT. You can check 9RT's display review below:
https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/22/oneplus-9rt-review-perfect-balance-camera-price/
There is also a Chinese video on GT2 display. Its a review of k50 and gt neo3, but they have shown display of gt2 also. Watch from 2:30 min.
I don't see that problem on my gt2 in normal use.
I also have the blue shifting even when looking straight. I try to ignore it.
Someone told me it was the screen protector but I never removed it to be sure.
But every review I've seen there is color shifting.
Hello!
I received a pixel 7 phone today and at a slight angle on the white screen I see strange shades (something like rainbow, green), but when I look directly at the phone, this is not noticeable. In normal operation, this is imperceptible, it is noticeable only when only the white screen is on. on the old oneplus 6t phone, this effect is the same, but here it is a little better visible on a white background, perhaps due to the fact that the pixel is much brighter than the screen. Should I be worried, or is this how it should be and you just need to get used to it?
On the Internet, I found a video on a similar problem. Link to similar issue:

My pixel 7 does not have this. Based on what I found on the internet, it seems this is a quality control problem for the display where some screens will have this while others do not.
It seems that the advice is that if this problem annoys you, then the best thing to do is to return the device for a full refund. Then re-purchase the device.
It's not recommended to replace, because then it becomes difficult to ask for a refund/another replacement if something does happen again.
I dont have this
It's because of the display panel being used. DXOmark reviewed the Pixel 7's screen and stated:
The biggest color-related problem on the Pixel 7 is that it shows alternating pink and blue stripes as the viewing angle changes, as seen in the photo below and the graph.

The display still got 140 points and is currently in line with phones like the iPhone 14.
If you have dark mode turned on it's way less noticeable.

Father-in-law is it normal if I look directly at the screen and see this effect a little bit?
