I switched from a purple tint HTC one to this new HTC butterfly s. Here are hardware problems I've encountered.
- purple tint is present 15% of the time in low light conditions especially when the phone is hot .
- when in dark areas, you can see the capacitive touch buttons illuminating the bottom of the screen before the screen turns on.
Anybody else experienced these things? I love the look and speed of HTC products compared to Samsung. But I think theyre not consistent with hardware production

sadly these problems are quite common
1.Yes I get purple tint on my camera but it's just zebra stripes in EXTREMELY low light after prolonged use of the phone. The camera naturally prefers a slight purple tint auto white-balance in some light, this is not that unusual because my camcorder do this as well. Under lowlight with HDR video, unfortunately, the purple tint is totally obvious through the whole image, not just stripes.
2. That's also quite normal.
Additional problems I've had:
1. audio clipping at high volumes with heavy bass (it seems users of the M8 are also reporting this)
2. Touch screen responsiveness with keyboard. (sometimes it lags or "sticks" a bit if you type too fast)

Touch screen don't lag or stick for me it's jus too fast

It's because I have sweaty hands and a screen protector.
I also noticed some stuck pixels on my unit, but it's too late to replace it now.
Don't use screen protector it causes problems when typing

I had serious purple tint, HTC replace the cam and now it had zero purple tint. Quite sure it is a hardware fault at least in my case

Is this a normal hardware problem or physical damage?
Fresh out of the box, headphone jack seemed to make a crackling when a headphone plug is spun around but that went away pretty quickly. Now, after months of use, the headphone jack seems to be going too deep for some headphones, causing this buzz sound and left channel to be cut off, unless the plug is in the right place, but it buzzes/cuts off when the headphone plug is touched slightly. It's especially bad with headphones that have an inline mic/remote. It also seems to have become rather loose now...
Has anyone else experienced this?

This sounds perfectly normal to me. I noticed this with most new audio jacks, be it new earphones or new phone or laptop or whatever. It's perfectly reasonable, though – when a new jack comes fresh out of factory, its surface is not perfectly smooth and by twisting it around, the resistance in the contact changes a bit, resulting in crackling. After a while, the surface gets smoothed out a bit by friction and the effect disappears.

This, on the other hand, really appears to be a mechanical failure.
yeah =/ I'm not sure if it would be under warranty either because it might have resulted me from accidentally pulling out the headphones a few times (happens when I'm commuting and need to make a run). It also depends heavily on the kind of headphones I use. Just bought a new pair of (cheap) earphones today and the plug went too deep causing the left channel to be cut off. A more "sturdy" plug does not do this although it may still buzz if pressed hard into the headphone jack.
I can also see something greyish and red at the bottom - only visible when a light is shined through. It might be dust and paint.
I've seen some reports that this is reported on HTC One M7 and some other phones, with one mod being to put a layer of tape on top of the headphone jack so the plug doesn't go in as deep or attaching rings to the bottom of the headphone plug.
I got my crystal pro on Sunday, overall really happy with it (will be even happier when I get .124 and the improved AOD!) but am noticing a very slight rattle when tapping on certain parts of the screen.
It only happens when I tap the top right part of the screen, it is very minor but is certainly not consistent with the rest of the display. It is the part of the screen that will be sitting adjacent to the rear cameras so maybe it is the camera mechanism? Probably normal but I am kind of OCD about this kind of stuff.
Anybody else noticing this on their pro?
Same here next to the cameras. I thought it's the OIS but my first p30 pro (display issues) didn't do that or i never noticed it!

I can confirm that it is there, and if you tap and listen closely, the sound is originating from the back, so it's most likely the OIS in the cameras.
But it isn't an issue for me, as you have to use some force while tapping it to hear that rattle, using the phone normally with slight taps like I use every other touchscreen device, I can't hear any rattling sound whatsoever.
My Redmi Note 10 Pro makes some sort of rattling or shaking sound as if something were loose inside the camera module when I put it down (on a hard surface such as table, doesn't even have to be forceful).
I can also tap on the inner side of the camera module to produce that sound.
Is that the camera stabilizer? Does anyone else have this rattling?
It really doesn't sound healthy, but everything wokres fine...

I do feel the same. Weird, but, oh well.
I only hear it when I put the phone done with a bit more force, putting it down normally or tapping (even strongly) doesn't produce that sound.
Same here. I tend to think (hope?) it's the stabilizer as well...
Yep, mine arrived today. I also noticed the rattling when I tap on the camera module and when I put the phone down on a hard surface..
My rattle is pretty significant even with only gently placing my phone onto a surface. Did anybody get their issue sorted?

I don't think it's an issue, just how it was designed. It was the same with my last Xiaomi phone and it's still like new after 3 years.
Mine too
have phone a little bit had rain drops on screen, I don't know before rain or after I don't see never happened before but I have problem when starting snapchat camera or messenger display was blue for a second after that display camera back to normal, changing cameras front to back still see blue display, even when I calling video caller still shows blue display from cameras. other phone the same issue but another phone was very wet in pocket, I wear jeans and on the phone back cover was rain drops because pocket wet very. maybe could be a problem with rain when I used phone? on Samsung phone was cracked screen and still using phone in the rain, no problem with camera. its doing with snapchat and messenger, with original camera still, instagram, tacebook. when starting camera like stock, Instagram, messenger, and others i see 1 sec blue screen than goes off
Hello,
There's a strange rattling noise when I move the phone back and forth like something is loose inside the phone near the camera module. Does anyone else have the same experience? Is this related to the gimbal/OIS or a defect? I don't remember if I had this from day one, just noticed it a couple of days back.
Regards.
I have the same thing, Chinese version. Noticed from day 1, no issues with camera. I'm assuming it's the gimbal
Having something similar when i play games and there is vibration, only noticeable at night when there is absolute silence. I suppose its the gimbal, no problems whatsoever, and only noticeable on no noise at night.
Yes, it is the Camera stabilization system and it is natural.
