Switching from global to EEA going to erase data? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hello!
I'm interested in switching from Global ROM (11.0.3) to EEA ROM (11.0.5) using MiFlash (Keep data option) was wondering if this will erase my data as it is going to a different although OFFICIAL ROM
Thanks in advanced!

No you won't lose data. That's the whole point of the keep data option. However it is highly recommended to do the 'clean all' option when changing regions. Backup all data first and be prepared to flash again with 'clean all', should you have any issues after trying the keep data option first.

Hi, mate thanks for your reply! Apologies for such a late reply been completely under the pump with uni crossed my mind I made this thread. Any idea if the "Keep data" option locks the bootloader? I've got an unlocked bootloader and don't want to accidentally lock it bricking my phone
Thanks heaps man!

I've never tried the keep data option, but it is not supposed to lock the bootloader. I assume it will do exactly what it says on the tin.
In theory you can lock the bootloader safely when cross flashing between EEA and global ROMs and phones. So you won't brick the phone if it does lock.

Can confirm, I've switched from global to EEA and locked bootloader after. Works flawlessly.

You can, but expect bugs. Priority mode was missing from volume slider when I tried this. And also quick settings wouldn't swipe down.

How to flash new ROM

Hello everyone! I am sorry if this is somewhere already been told but I could not find it..
I am buying Xiaomi Mi5, sealed box, with some Chinese ROM so I would need to flash some global ROM. As I am told the bootloader is open. What are my next steps?
1. Install TWRP?
2. Then install ROM?
Are there any instructions on how to do that? I have done that on my previous LG but that was long ago so I dont remember any more.
If you could help I would very much appreciate it!

sealed box = bootloader closed
1- Update to latest chinese dev rom, download from miui site and install through updater
2- open bootloader through MIUI tool, search online for it
3- install TWRP through cmd
4- I think you can now install non-miui roms, but personally I just wiped data and installed supersu and used the miui rom
I believe that it comes with open bootloader.
Installation through cmd is the same for any device? Is there any tutorial about it?
I just bought Mi 5 with China ROM (my first Xiaomi device). I was planning to install Global ROM but decided to give the China ROM a go. installed the MIUI v8 update, removed some unwanted Chinese apps, and installed Google stuff. Actually works very well and loving it so far. No issues at all. I recommend you give it a go if you want.
Otherwise I suggest you read these two threads on the official MIUI forums. Should give you the basics and all you need to install the Global ROM.

Thanks man! I will give it a go!

i dont understand why you ask for answer, receive, but not the one you hoped and still saying its open..?
Since 1 year Miui only ships locked bootloaders, so when sealed its 100% locked.
Just try unlock through app/website: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
for tutorials, there are plenty on miui forum site, or here on xda
Good luck

first you need update to last miui version (stable or dev not problem at all) then unlock (bootloader) your device, after that download global fastboot rom, and flash using XiaoMiFlash.
but, before you flash to global. i want tell you 1 thing. this is my opinion,
Global rom is suck! rom base Chinese is great much more better on audio, camera and etc, except the rom only have 2 language chines and english, and you need manualy install gapps.
on my preference MIUI official rom is, China dev -> China Stable -> Global Dev -> Global Stable.
i don't know if this is related, but since we don't have sd card slot we have to leave the internal storage unwiped. And I like to wipe the entire phone when i flash a new rom. So my question is how do you wipe the internal storage and still have the files required to flash rom?

internal storage is not a single partition, the bootloader and recovery are in separate partitions and don't get wiped. What is deleted when you choose to wipe internal storage is only system, data, cache and (emulated) sdcard.

I´m trying to instal TWRP on my device but always recive the same error:
FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)
and stops working
Is this issue related with the unlock of the mobile?
I applied for the unlock, but I recieved a sms and afterwards a new screen that I will recieve a new sms in some days, How long do I have to wait until they unlock it?
Best Regards

The first SMS with the code should be quick (you already have it, i understand).
The second is in most cases within a few hours, but officially can be up to 10 days.
After you received the SMS with permissions, you can try to unlock, but if that does not work, wait 24 hours (i had to wait a day before the permissions were 'connected' to my Mi account).

Question please help flash xaiomo EU

Why don't you go to their website https://xiaomi.eu/ or search this forum
Precaution: Do not embark on it without first researching this. There is a genuine risk of bricking your phone in case of missteps.

I have flashed Xiaomi.eu on global so many times on Mi 11 ultra and never had an issue. However, this does not guarantee you may not have issues.
The most prudent approach for you can be; first, know the region of your phone, flash the official ROM for that region WITHOUT LOCKING THE BOOTLOADER (MUST KEEP IT UNLOCKED), then flash the Xiaomi eu ROM.

I have the Chinese version phone. Unlocked the bootloader and tried almost all available ROMs available out there on it including from Chinese to xiaomi eu, global to xiaomi eu, and vice versa.
For Mi 11 ultra, the Chinese region is not a hindrance to installing Xiaomi eu on it.
If you still have doubts, posting in Xiaomi.eu forums may be more useful.

my quesion is very simple
can i flash directley on global rom or need to flash chinese rom first then flash xaiomi EU?
Ask yourself why you should do that? You inject twrp and format data then flash ROM zip, done.

nice this simple for you as expert but as beginer as me i need some details. why every expert her dealing with the beginners as ignorant there was some days all of you was beginners
You only assume I am an expert, for me an expert is a developer. This is my first Xiaomi phone and all I know I read it on guides. These are easy and logical assumptions.

Questions on XDA are to be answered nicely or ignored, there is no other way ... thread cleaned a little.

Buddy, your situation is even easier because you don't have to go through the hassle of unlocking your bootloader,it is already unlocked! With that possibilities are endless.
Download on your PC and install "minimal adb and fastboot"
Download on your phone the EU ROM of your choice (stable or weekly)
Download on your pc the twrp compatible for your phone, rename the twrp image into "twrp.img" and move it into you "minimal adb and fastboot" folder
Boot into fastboot
Connect your phone to PC
Run adb
Check if phone is recognized with the command "fastboot devices"
Now boot into twrp with the command "fastboot boot twrp.img"
Twrp will now boot into your phone, it will be in Chinese, so you must change the language first unless you understand chinese: to do that you press the third button on the right, you tap onto the "worldish" icon and select English.
Now you go to install, browse until you find the rom you downloaded, you flash.
Once completed wipe dalvik and cache, and DO NOT RESTART. Go back instead to the main page, select now WIPE then FORMAT DATA and type YES to confirm, NOW YOU CAN REBOOT when prompted.
You installed successfully the Xiaomi EU ROM.
Be aware that first boot can take quite a lot of time. Be also aware that FORMATTING DATA WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE, so backup first what you want to keep

Question Antirollback bypass

you can easily go back to stock and relock bootloader. Just download Fastboot rom of your choice and install using pc. No ARB issues as fastboot ROMs check for the thing and won't flash if the phone/rom arb figure mismatch. it's completely safe. I have done it a couple of times

Your phone's code name is "camellian".
Download this rom "Recovery V13.0.3.0.SKSMIXM" then put it in the root of the phone without renaming it and go to the update settings, the 3 points at the top right / select the update file.
Thank you for the guide. Am I doing things right?
Update:
No luck on Changing Region to Belgium.
Also the Recovery seems to be for Testers only. See attached images.

I will try the lower one and will update.
Still same error for x.3.0

It doesn't work all the time.
They released an A12 rom in May and yours is from July in A11, surely some problem.
The solution that will work 100% is to unlock the bootloader to update and relock afterwards.
I have already unlocked the Bootloader. But stuck on what to do (not really) more like what file is the correct one to use.

It may be because bootloader is unlocked plus possible root that you are not getting updates.
You must use a fastboot rom(read my tuto).

U must do clean fastboot install to Global (this one).
U can try tapping few times on MIUI 12.5 Logo in settings to unlock advanced settings and select manually file to update, but I doubt u can update Japan version since they didn't release MIUI 13 Japanese version (the one you showed us in the picture).
So yeah, download global and do clean install (do some sort of backup if u must, I recommend Swift Backup), since you'll have to wipe data after clean fastboot flash.
Code:
After download extract until you have folder with "flash_all.bat" folder.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot fastboot
^important to boot into fastbootD so u can flash system
run flash_all.bat
fastboot reboot recovery
wipe data
reboot
Hope this helps.

"U must do clean fastboot install to Global (this one)."
it has already been said
" I doubt u can update Japan version since they didn't release MIUI 13 Japanese version (the one you showed us in the picture)."
Where do you see it's a Japan rom?
V12.5.6.0.RKSMIXM is a global rom A11
Code:
After download extract until you have folder with "flash_all.bat" folder.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot fastboot
important to boot into fastbootD so u can flash system
run flash_all.bat
fastboot reboot recovery
wipe data
reboot
"
Indeed, we can flash directly with the bat file included in the fastboot rom folder but it is enough to put the phone in fastboot mode without cmd with the button combination and the wipe data is useless since the command "flash_all.bat" format the data.
I'll try this. Thank you so much.
