I would like to take the opportunity given by XDA forum and share with you my application, named "Total Screen Control".
I would be more than happy if I will receive through this thread opinions, features requests, bug fixes requests, new ideas, anything that could improve the application.
Thanks !
Total Screen Control
Total Screen Control is an application for setting the Brightness Level, Screen Filter, ScreenOn Lock and Rotation Lock preferences individually for any application installed on your phone.
Allows you to apply a filter that dims the brightness below minimum value so your eyes don't hurt during night viewing. Very useful in low light conditions especially on AMOLED screens where even the lowest brightness value is still bright. Also can save a lot of battery combined with ScreenOn Lock based on phone orientation!
More features:
- Screen Filter/Privacy with schedule and brightness slider for fine control !
- Dynamic Screen Filter based on phone's light sensor! Forget about classic auto-brightness, switch to Dynamic Screen Filter!
- Screen Filter Bar for easy and cool control of Filter dim
- ScreenOn Lock based on phone orientation! Keeps the screen on as long as you use your phone! SAVE BATTERY also!
- ScreenOn Lock, Brightness level and Rotation Lock individually for any app
- Option to disable softkey backlight (not working on all phones)
- Tasker/Locale plugins !
- Notification icon on Status bar with all needed information
- Up to 5 configurable Screen Filter Presets
- 3 Widgets for easy access
- Configurable preferences, alerts
- Start at boot
Does your eyes hurt you when reading or playing before bedtime ? Enable the Screen Filter
Tired to get the screen off while reading your eBook, browsing on Web or playing? Setup the ScreenOn Lock
Want to set the brightness or rotation individually? Configure them with Total Screen Control
For all these this application is for you!

Thanks, I have only Android in my head, I didn't realize that it could be also for other platforms
Yeah, quite surprised that XDA hasnt created sub-forums for the different OS's aswell as mandatory topic titling.
Very nice idea though and thaks for posting info on your app bud
Really a good app , it could help me use lowest brightness value to save my battery.
But what i got a highly battery usaege on this app..... too bad~~~ Could some one tell me what's going on ?
My phone is idle , i even did not use it when i plug out the ac.
But ..
great app but it crashes everytime i try to change one of the settings :/
A great app, I like this.
Great app. working so far fine. No crashe....till now I can not confirm that battery problem.

Ok I have got an equal result like you. 82% usage for the last 1h 20 min....Gonna keep it for a while on my device and watch its usage with the monitoring function of the app "SystemPanel".
Here is a screen shot of the usage
Hi guys,
thanks for your feedback:
Regarding battery use, this is something it needs deeper investigations, I have also encountered this high battery use REPORT but not always and I have gathered the following info:
- This is related only to ScreenOn Lock based on Sensor Orientation feature. So anyone that doesn't need this function just disable it and 99% that this usage will not appear anymore
- For the others, who find this feature useful there are 2 remarks:
1. First is a quote from another, much known application who's users reported also this high usage report:
* Battery usage is an insanely misleading stat. Many people assume that it means "80% of my battery was consumed by ****", and consequently, "if ***** were not running, my battery would last 80% longer". This simply isn't true. It's not even close. I've tried to get clear answers from Google on what the stat actually means, but haven't gotten more than "the amount of power consumed by an app when it is running". ***** doesn't run much.
* Some phones appear to get confused and attribute nearly all system battery usage to *****. This problem is not unique ******, and in fact applications such as Locale have started providing disclaimers for certain devices to warn users of the issues.
* ***** still suspends itself whenever the screen is turned off. The ***** service puts all threads into a sleep state using Thread.sleep(99999999999). It's possible that the Service is still being attributed some kind of resource usage since it hasn't been terminated (even though the threads have been suspended). I'm looking into this. At this point from what I can tell, there are no running threads once the screen is turned off...
I'm continuing to look into this, as I'm getting absolutely hammered at this point from a ratings (and consequently sales perspective), but I'm not sure that there is much I'm going to be able to do about improving the battery usage stats on specific devices.
The bottom line is this: ***** either improves your phone's battery life or it doesn't, regardless of what the battery stats say. On my Nexus One, ***** averages around 2-3% on the stats list. Sometimes it goes higher, but will generally drift back down to around that level.
2. This occurs randomly, please try to reboot your phone and check if the usage is still high.

I'm using also System Panel and there it could be clearly seen that Total CPU Time and Average Consumption for Total Screen are in limits.

Thanks muntos. I like this app because the function on it equal to Screebl + Screen Filter .And I only need to use one app.
The "ScreenOn Lock" is same as Screebl. But i notice that when i use screebl it only have about 2~3% battery useage.
Hope you could find out the root cause about the heavily battery usage.
FYI , my phone is Galaxy S I9000.
BTW , How many days for trial version?

My Phone it's also Galaxy S I9000. Please, could you do a phone reboot and then check if the same high values are shown in Battery use ?
Regarding trial version, as this moment you can check when the version expires by going to menu->about, but check in the Market when an update appears, this will extend the trial period.

...I found when my trial expire , the "screen on lock" function automatically been disable , that's why I got a lower battery useage.
And I have a suggestion when the trial expire , I hope I have a chance to disable the Total Screen Control service , everytime I only been stick on "buy" or "close" option , but the service is still been enable there and i have no chance to disable it.
...It make me only have one option to uninstall it , too bad...

Hi I am back after very long time AlwaysOn is new trend of this year. To check time or battery no more need unlock your phone. You can try feature from LG G5, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in your phone. This app is developing on on the Galaxy S6. AOD - Always On Display
Recommended AMOLED display – you can also try it on LCD or IPS but I think there will be very big battery drain.
Features:
• Double tap to wake up device like LG phones
• Showing date, time, notifications and battery state and level(red - 15%, green 100%)
• Long press on the date open calendar app
• Tap on notification icon open selected app
• Automatic brightness control for AOD from light sensor or manual set in settings
• Pause AOD when receive call
• Pause AOD if phone is in pocket or proxi sensor is active more then 30s - save battery
• Ability set time which allow deep sleep AOD when phone is without motion more then set time in settings - save battery
• Ability disable AOD when long press backbutton
• Options for configuration views size, color, possition and visibility for views in AOD.
• Options to set wallpaper and opacity for AOD
• Options for time format
• If phone is charging AOD will never paused and you can use it like wath .)
• Swipe left/right over battery row to change brighness for short time removed in v0.1.2
Is impossible or not supported by me: disable fingerprint, disable HW & SW buttons, support for LED. This app does not require root or custom kernel and never will. I suggest to anyone who want those features, try other applications if exist.
Disadvantages:
• For now bugs and bigger battery drain still here but working on it
• You must turn off permanent backlight for hw buttons or set time when they will be turn off(Samsung limit I can not do it programally)
• Your light indicator LED will be off while charging etc. (it is because Android turn on led only when display is fully off so I can not do it programally)
About deep sleep - app allow deep sleep in inactive mod where you can set time for app sleep while phone is not moving. Then app will be paused because you sleep etc and then when you wakeup phone AOD will be automatically started. So I think this can save battery. The same if your phone is upside down or in your pocket, you do not need AOD ON.
I need some testers and feedback. Thx for your time. Based on the results of testing I will fix bugs or modify the application features.

Nice job, mate! Working fine here. Will report later if has some issues and how is battery with this app

Tried the app.
Here's couple of things I find missing and/or need to be changed.
1. There needs to be a brightness adjustment slider in the app settings. I don't think I would want to adjust the brightness while the AOD is on, plus there's only two options for brightness while AOD is working (darkest and brightest).
2. When placed in averagely lit area, when the AOD is on, after 30 seconds, the brightness goes all the way up for some reason, why would anyone want that.
3. The clock should be moving all the time to avoid screen burn-in.
4. When you place your finger on the phone's light sensor, the phone display turns on after 10 seconds. The AOD should be on all the time, right, unless you tell it not to.
5. Minor thing, but when charging led light goes away.
But that's just my observations. Do whatever you like.
Edit: v0.1.2
1. The manual brightness slider still does not work properly, only one option works: 0%, the others if you set, just goes to default brightness.
2. After 30 seconds the AOD changes brightness to lowest even though I set the settings to manual.
3. As I was writing this post, my phone display just randomly turned on, then turned off and the AOD is gone. Had to re-enable the AOD in the app to get it working again.
Great app, but needs a lot of bug fixing and stability, sometimes, when you turn off the display The AOD will only appear after 5-10 or so, sometimes right away.
Now this look very promising! Great work!
Confirmed 4. and 5. from post above. I don't know if for 3. is correct, if it is than he's right too.
Will test tonight for battery on my Note5.

Waiting for new update.
I think that you guys have poor battery life, simply because all these apps doesn't let phone go in deep sleep.
On S7 always on is implemented on kernel side, so until someone do the same on s6, we can't have this feature.
Yeah this app could reproduce it perfectly, but with no deep sleep i don't see any reason to use it.
That's It Bro!Well Done..But It Isn't Like The S7 Edge One!
Is It From Samsung Or Lg?

Great for now, does it work with Ambient Display and/or Greenify?
OK I add new version 0.1.2 see changelog, thx all for feedback I read every post but do not repond because time. Some asked features was already implement or will be later. Yeah I thought about that, sorry, will do next time.
When on call turn off screen, i think a bug
the screen goes from max brightness to low one after 20 sec? why? i would like to have always high
I just wanted to make a quick rundown of things I do to phones, even if they have a large battery.
- Go into app info, then battery, then enabled "Background Restriction" for apps that don't need to have fast notifications. I do this for apps like XDA, Feedly, Amazon etc. Given enough time Adaptive battery will do this for you, but I go in manually for any new apps or ones that I still might use frequently. (UnRooted)
- Download Naptime and enable aggressive doze. Also play around with the experimental features. I disabled location when Doze mode is enabled. (UnRooted)
- Download Servicely from the same dev. I disabled apps when my screen turns off and whitelist phone, messaging apps and other high importance apps. (Root)
- Use Tasker to automate Battery Saver Mode when your screen turns off and disable it when the screen comes back on. Naptime can also do this in the experimental settings, but I use Tasker to trigger it based on conditions like battery percentage, etc. (UnRooted)
- Install the Universal GMS Doze in Magisk. Combining this with Naptime really helps for standby. (Root)
- Install AdAway from F-Droid. This is a small thing, but less data use for pulling ads means better battery. It's a stretch, but the other benefits are no more ads! (Root)
This is what I've got done so far. Once custom kernels are released I'm going to use the Franco kernel app to make per app customizations to underclock the CPU and GPU for apps like Messages and other lite apps to really squeeze more battery.
With these optimizations I can easily make a full day. I haven't gotten a solid SOT number yet as I change in my car through Android Auto most days, but I really want to test a day completely off a charger to see what it's like.
Again, these are things I do on even large phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and it's almost doubled my battery life on phones. Plus, these are set and forgot things and should only require a little bit of setup.
I hope this helps yall eek out some more battery out of our awesome devices! I can start to use the phone without worrying about battery anxiety.
Or you can just enable battery saving, and don't optimize apps you really need.
That's true, and I have it enable when the screens off. I'm not sure is restricting background use AND battery saver are doubling up and helping save more battery, but I want the option to have a light theme, so restricting battery for apps gives me that option
Hi,
A new topic specifically for that topic:
I have the SM-986B (exynos) and saved 4 fingerprints.
The fingerprint reader is horrible, it's in the bottom of the screen and it usually takes me 4-5 seconds to register and unlock.
I have my old Redmi note 5 pro nearby, with proper fingerprint reader in the back, it takes hardly 1/2 seconds to unlock.
Comparing the two is obvious, that component is a big failure (to me). Too slow, not precise enough.
Overall it impacts my feel for the phone.
Very true the Finergprint sensor could have been better and more responsive
You most likely have battery optimization on for the fingerprint reader. Disable it in advanced battery settings, my phone unlocks almost instant, same speed as oneplus 7 pro in-display fingerprint reader.
