Distorted sound with custom ROM - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
The last days I've tried to install some customs ROMs on my Z3C, Lineage OS 16 and Carbon 8.1. But with both I had the same issue: on a call I could not be understood due to a distorted sound. I tried it to reproduce by using the sound/voice recorder and every time I recorded my voice the playback of it was really distorted. So I've chosen to go back to stock for the moment.
Does anyone else encountered same problem?
Best regards

Same here on LOS 16

Microphone quality in CM12.1/13 ROMs

¡Hello!
Actually I'm using AICP 10 ROM, which is based on CM12.1, and this ROM has issues with the two microphones of the One. In WhatsApp the voice notes had a very bad audio quality and people can't hear me sometimes, and when I'm using the speaker in a phone call the microphone that my phone uses is the back microphone so people can't hear me, again. A couple of months ago I tried crDroid that is based on CM13 and it had exactly the same issues. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

LOW Sound Volume On Video Recording

Straight to the point...
Ever since I used custom rom on MI 5 32gb, the sound volume of video recording is extremely low. The only sound I could hear is from the sound source located literary 1 cm near the phone, even that would sound very low. I've tried all kinds of custom ROMs, stock camera apps, Google camera, open camera with HAL2 and HAL3, snapdragon camera, all resulting in the same problem. I also tried numerous firmware version and nothing fixes it. I don't think it is hardware problem because I can do audio recording just fine, loud and clear. The problem only persist when video recording...
Am I the only one with this problem? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem, so I returned to xiaomi.eu rom
Any solution suggestion?

P9 Microphone recordings distortion / auto-gain issues / survey

Hi guys,
so as a musician recording stuff with my phone is quite important because, just like with cameras, the best recording device is the one you have with you when inspiration strikes.
Recording audio was always amazing with the P9. Very good and clear recordings. But since a recent update (i think it was b390 or b394) it distorts way too easily when the source has a certain volume. Making it impossible to record a band practice jam or something like that. And since I record stuff regularly this is definitely something new. So either my microphone is broken or the software has changed.
-->Normally the auto-gain is very good and automatically adjusts the input levels down, so that's what seems to be broken in my case. And that would mean it's just a software issue. Before I start flashing old ROMs I was wondering if you guys could do a little recording test with a loud stereo or something and report your findings (using the stock recording app or stock camera app, video recording with sound).
I'm running a P9 with:
-Bluewei 5.7 b397 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/bluewei-test-crossflash-to-l09-c432-t3608270)
but the issue was also present in the ROM i used before:
-moonlight 5.0 b394 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/p9-moonlight-rom-v1-0-b378-stock-t3567223)
So if you could tell me the software version you're using and how easily it distorts that would be greatly appreciated :good:
cheers
Tested B390 and the problem persisted. So at this point I'm guessing it's either the custom ROMs that cause the issue (I don't have the time to test full stock atm) or my microphone is just broken.
Would be really great if anyone with anything B390 or higher could do a little test...
So just flashed the newest version of:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/p9-moonlight-rom-v1-0-b378-stock-t3567223
And the problem vanished. I guess it was a software issue after all.

Low external microphone (via jack) volume on Lineage OS

I used to use my Mi9T Pro to record audio with my Rode Lavalier GO external microphone using a very good app called RecForge II Pro while I was on official MIUI. It worked perfectly with no problems at all.
Recently I switched to LineageOS 17.1 (Un-official build [04/06/20] - fw. 12) and I just found out that the external microphone volume is extremely low now. It does work, there are no cracks or problems in audio, but it's extremely low. I had to add +15dB to even hear anything, but that's not a solution to this problem.
Could you please help me with this? Point me to the right direction on how to fix this?
Thanx.
i guess its a common issue on every custom rom now... i am still looking for solutions

Question MIC issue

Hi Guys, so apparently in every aosp rom i use i have mic issues. When I´m on videocalls my mic is bad for other people and they can’t hear me well. Firstly why are Roms causing these issues and is there any way to fix. I tried all the modules for mic fix but nothing helped
Open camera, select video, stay with phone in orizzontal state (no vertical), rec a video for 10 or 12 secs, stop video and try
So I think mic in camera works im not sure because i switched to miui. But the only big problem is WhatsApp. In video calls friends etc. can’t hear me good
