SIM detected but not picking up a signal on Lineage 16 - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

I've put my SIM card into my phone and rebooted. It does know it's there because there's now the (empty) signal bars in the status bar, and Settings > Mobile Networks allows me to change settings
It shows the APNs for Three which is my network
But it isn't getting a signal at all. And Scanning for networks never completes.
Anything I can try?

what's the problem about china unicom SIM card?

when I use china mobile SIM card, everything is OK,
but when I change it to china unicom SIM card, the network logo should not be "G", instead of double arrow signal together with "X" signal.
why it show me this? ( but I can norlamly use my mobile phone in phone and GPRS and going to internet).
Could anybody help me?
did you put in the network settings for the other network ?
as in apn and username and the likes?
no, I find the netwrok automacticly, and select china unicom network,at first the network logo is OK like "G",
but after several minutes, it changed to arrow signal

N920T (SEARCHING) Not registered on network

I have an N920T I cannot get service. I get (searching) in the top corner. If I try to make a call it says "Not Registered On Network".
It does show I have full signal bars, but does not show data connection.
Settings > Mobile Networks
Network Mode set to: LTE/3G/2G
APN: T-Mobile (T-mobile Sim Inserted)
The SIM is active, but I have also tried an active AT&T SIM with the same results. The device is factory unlocked.
If I go to Setings > Mobile Networks > Network Operators and tell it to search for available networks it finds nothing.
It seems to me there is some sort of issue with the antenna or an antenna setting.

Anyone familiar with what I should be seeing here? I'm not familiar with this.
Two days couldn't get it to work. Yesterday before I left my shop I downgraded the modem from OKC to OJ5 and it was still not getting service. Left it sitting on my desk overnight. Was fixing to start working on it. Turned the screen on and BOOM 4g and making calls.

Freedompop won't show network connection in notification bar.

So I'm using this phone with Freedompop's global SIM card as a handy data connection device. I've been using this sim with other phones without a problem, however I have a strange behavior on the Blu R1. Apparently, since the card is always considered "roaming" here in the US, the R1 just shows me a "R" next to my signal bars. However, I am unable to see if I have a network connection, or at what level (3G, H+, etc). I set the network preferences to always connect when roaming, but I hate being in the dark with my connection.
I can pull up a browser and see if it works or not, or open up the Network app or something to see the nitty-gritty status, but its very frustrating to not know how or even IF I'm connected when I'm expecting a message or response. For example, if I'm on H+ I'll accept a video call, but if I'm on 3G I know it'll just end in frustration. Is there any fix/tweak or anything to get around this? Perhaps disable the roaming notification?
I'm not having quite the same problem with FreedomPop. I see the perpetual R for roaming, but I do get bars for network signal strength. (You do have the FreedomPop Sim in slot #1, right? It won't work in Slot #2.)
FreedomPop will ALWAYS show as roaming here in the US. It is part of their instructions actually. But you will not be charged extra for it. I have had the free 200mb, 500 text, 200 minute plan on my sons R1 HD for a few months now and no bills.
If you have Xposed installed, you could use the Roaming Control module to trick your phone into thinking that AT&T and T-mobile aren't roaming networks; it's what I did until I switched to the FreedomPop LTE GSM sims.
Otherwise, I used to use Network Cell Info Lite, where I enabled the notification and set the update rate to 4 seconds--HSPA+ will show up as "3.5G" in the notification icon. It has proper support for dual-sim phones. You could also try Nify, which does show what kind of network connection you're on, but I have no idea if it works with dual-sim phones properly (e.g. will it only show SIM1 all the time, even if you use SIM2 as your primary sim?)

No mobile data and 'x' sign in network icon

Hi all
A couple days ago, mobile data stopped working for me. Whenever I disconnect from WiFi, I can see the 4G icon next to the network icon, but in the bottom right corner of each one of them (I have two SIM) an 'x' appears.
I have tried resetting the APNs, the connectivity settings, did a factory reset, downgraded the phone to a previous version and removed and reinserted the SIM cards. I can still send and receive calls and SMS but no data even on 2G.
Do you have any ideas about what to try next?
Thanks!

TMobile Signal Issues Android 9 Pie

I wanted to see if anyone else had issues with their signal for tmobile and after updating to android 9. I am running into an issue where for a few days I would have LTE 4G signal but at some point, I would lose signal completely. This issue persists once every one to two weeks. Here are the steps I did to see if it would resolve the issue:
- Reset Network Settings
- Reconfigured the date & time so it would be the correct time and date and timezone
- Removed automatic set date and time
- Did both a soft and hard reset
- Cleaned out system cache
- Booted into safe mode
- Checked the service hidden menu and ran tests and all came out pass
- Reset Access Point Names
- Ran Search Networks in Network Operators Menu and failed
- Ran Select Automatically in Network Operators Menu and failed
This issue has been annoying ever since I updated to Android 9. If anyone has a solution please advise. My phone is not rooted and is stocked image.
I'm on Tmo and received the pie update some months ago. I haven't had any issues with signal strength since. I'm racking my brain trying to come up with some advice but wow you have some everything I can think of. How about trying a new SIM card?

I actually did replace the SIM card. Here is the weird thing... When I removed my sim card, I would get the icon showing that there is no sim card inserted so of course no signal was showing. After inserting the new sim card, the phone would see and recognize the sim card but still no signal bars would be showing.

Roaming has been turned on and off then on again yet same results with signal being lost.

Download this app, "LTE Discovery" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.simplyadvanced.ltediscovery
There's a feature that logs your LTE data, wait till you lose signal again and then review the logs.
