Anyone know if it's compatible with Adaptive APTX ? I maybe want to buy a PX7 from Bowers & Wilkins that was the 1st to be Adaptive compatible.

Does this phone support AptX (Apt-X) on bluetooth??
Is there any way to use LDAC before Oreo update?!
LDAC comes within the firmware, unless you get a rom that incorporates it, I dont see how anybody could use it, sony's xperias are the ones that have it natively, as ldac is a bt sony implementation
Sony helped Google to include LDAC in Oreo update

Well, it is good that oreo will/may include LDAC, as it is an improvement, however, LDAC compliant speakers, earphones etc, are another matter

There are a bunch of headphones and some speakers on Sony's site that support LDAC. I have some MDR-1ABT headphones, which are excellent and support LDAC. I also have ATH-DSR9BT headphones for APTX HD.
Also, Oreo does give you Hifi BT codecs for sure. I'm using a Mi Mix with Android 8 on it which has LDAC and APTX HD. The sound quality really is head and shoulders above SBC (default BT codec).
I have seen ROMs on devices that ported APTX HD, but I didn't see working LDAC ports.
Hello All,
Just got this phone to replace my pixel 2 and the bluetooth connection to my wf-1000x is horrible.
when i connect to the P20 it stutters, skips and sometimes just disconnects on my few minutes walk to work.
Went back to the pixel and not such issue, completely rock solid connection.
Not only that, the headset connects to the pixel using AAC but won't go higher than SBC on the P20.
Is anyone else experiencing poor bluetooth performance and has anyone managed to get AAC working?
You sure you have them on "priority on sound quality" mode? That's what I needed on my Sony MDR-1000X to get anything other than SBC, which is pretty nasty I agree. I'm happily using LDAC and it's a completely different league in terms of sound quality.
Once I made the change it was showing LDAC in developers settings menu.

These are the truly wireless buds, there is no LDAC support but AAC should still be much better which is what works on the pixel 2.
Refuses to go on the p20 even if choosing it manually and yes it's set to sound quality
Have the same issue with the bose qc 35ii that came with the phone, emailed support and awaiting a reply. Seems stupid to have the option and not be able to use it.
Beoplay E8
I have the same problem with beoplay E8. Will also mail the support.
Got the same issue with the Bose headphones only using SBC, does not switch to AAC. Have the latest firmware on the headphones & firmware 120 on the P20 Pro. Bit annoying considering one was a pre-order for the other. My budget £40 set can switch between SBC & AptX!

I actually emailed Huawei regarding the AAC codec being broken. Apparently, the P20 Pro does not support AAC for Bluetooth. The technical specs on Huawei UK says "Bluetooth®: BT 4.2, aptX™, aptX™ HD, LDAC and HWA are supported"
But in developer mode, the AAC codec is there, but the setting wouldn't stay. I wonder whether there are any hacks that we can perform to install the codec.
LDAC . APTX , APTXHD ,... which is the best ???

Oh that's annoying, better sound is always welcome.
i recently purchased oneplus bullets wireless earphones . so i was checking whether note 8 supports aptx codec or not.
I bumped into bluetooth streaming settings in developer options. Here many codecs were mentioned including aptx , LDAC and even samsungs own UHD . Which ever i select when i am not connected to my bluetooth earphones it automatically shifts to aptx when i connect to my bullets wireless (aptx compatable). Does this mean note 8 also supports sony's LDAC (HI-RES) ( correct me if i am wrong) codec . Has anyone tried checking?
Those settings are only showing you what's connected.

Yes, LDAC is supported when using a compatible Sony bluetooth device. Attached is a screen shot of the bluetooth settings page of my MDR-1000X.

so this CONNECT WITH LDAC APPEARS AFTER YOU CONNECT TO HI-RES COMPATABLE HEADPHONES?
Yes, but please keep it toned down with the All-Caps.
my bluetooth earphone is aptx supported and i connected my earphone and trying to activeaptx audio but SBC is default when i selected HWA it is not workig .and stereo audio left channel and right channel is not working it is steel mono audio .
I have a WH-CH700N Aptx-HD BT set from Sony. Worx fine out of the box (can see in the Sony Headphone app)
No need to install / configure in the OS
WH-CH700N supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD
Perhaps you need to install the app from the manufacturer. It is recommended for the sony
which BT headset do you have?
Meizu ep51 but sterio sarround not working
Meizu ep51 but sterio sarround not working
Hi, looks like it supports AptX but not Aptx-HD:

If stereo is not working, then something else might be wrong.
Does a wired version work normally?
You might want to check your BT set on an other phone / tablet
