Switching to Ultrawide during video recording - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Hello! I just recently switch phones from the LG V30 to the V40, everything is great except I can't switch from Main cam to Ultrawide cam while recording video. I do that all the time on the V30 and just disappointed the V40 doesn't seem to have that feature. Anybody know if that's possible? Or is there a V30 camera app port? Thanks!

I really miss that too! It's a shame that lg have done this where every other phone can switch lens while recording

Any solution? V30 camera port?

That's an intriguing question. I know of a plethora of Gcam ports but have yet to see one for the V30 camera.

There's the V50 camera that's available but idk if it will do what you want...

Front cam is samsung s5k5e8 5mp
Back primary camera - OV12A10 12mp
Back secondary camera - OV13880 13mp
Xiaomi lied here, both back camera aren't same but 12mp and 13mp, and they have limited 13mp sensor to 12mp. also crippled fps to 28. it doesn't record videos at solid 30fps.

Damn that sucks.... I thought it was imx 386 sensor as they were claiming flagship grade... I thought they would use mi 6 cameras at least... I think I would stick with my honor 6x which has imx 386......though Xiaomi offers best in that range... It does unnecessary claims... Mehh

For camera ? stay away from this crap. it's worse than Redmi 3s. i tried modded gcam with hdr+ on both phones and redmi 3s simply ****s on this so called flagship camera. feeling cheated by Xiaomi.
There is a video in YouTube which shows 2x zoom working even if the secondary camera lens is blocked. Seems they are only using a single camera and the telephoto one is fake. Anyone pls confirm.

Well color me surprised!! Just tested this, and you're kind of right when the Camera is in normal mode and you press the 1X or 2X button it zooms in AND takes pictures using the normal (primary) lens. However when entering manual mode the zoom lens does actually work and can also be covered.
This seems to be a bug in the camera software as it sometimes does use the 2X camera instead of the 1X camera. However i am on MIUI9 could anyone test this on MIUI8?

I don't think so its a bug.... In low lighting or less optimal conditions... It doesn't use telephoto lens to avoid degradation of image quality
This was in daylight, that should be wel above optimal lighting conditions. Could still be correct though but that would be a less then desired behaviour if you ask me.

Camera issue
I have purchased OnePlus 5 on the release day, in the starting , both the rear cameras were working fine.
but after couple of months, there was a problem with 20mp lens, I'm unable to use 2x zoom, even in very bright day light situation.
I've contacted OnePlus, they're trying to explain me that dual camera is only for portrait mode not for 2x, they are directly saying 2x zoom can be done by 16mp camera. then what's the use of 20mp cam.
OnePlus customer service team is not at all listening my words and even the words which has said at the time of launch by CEO.
fed up with the OnePlus support In India.

Gcam port for S10. How long?

Hey folks,
Any guesses as to when the google camera will be ported over to the snapdragon 855 S10s? I now the current ports are built on the Snapdragon 845 chipset, curious if it's quick/easy to port over for the 855, or if its going to be a few months.
LOVE my pixel 3 camera (who doesn't right?), but already ordered the S10, hoping I don't have to wait too long for the port.
Same here. Hehe i really want gcam camera. I hope other vwrsio work
Any news?
The same for Exynos is possible ?
I found this today:
https://piunikaweb.com/2019/03/02/samsung-galaxy-s10-gets-first-taste-of-google-camera-port/
Looks like an 845 version works on the 855, but only for the primary lens. I am sure with time the wide lens will also get the port. Can't wait!

Same , I would really like the devs to build one for the Exynos version tho. Hope it comes fast and works well too.

That's not a deal breaker. You can use the gcam port for the primary lens, and still use the stock camera for everything else. As long as night sight works on the primary lens, you can live with the stock camera aka samsung's jpeg processing for all other lens and compositions
I want GCam to take portrait in low light with flash...
sad!! no-one cares about our s10

LG's Steadycam: The most underrated feature of the G8 that's not being marketed?

it's hard to find comparisons between the LG G8 STABILIZED 4k videos vs Iphone vs S10+ vs Gopro 7 etc. , but what from what I used so far, it essentially almost replaces a gimbal. Especially when this feature works for the ultrawide cam as well.
I'm not sure why LG is so silent on this feature, because it's alot better than G7 and before's steadycam videos.
4k 60fps super steady on my V50. Both lenses.
Here are some examples

I was expecting to have this feature available with today's update on my Sprint LG G8, but no, just security update again. :\
They advertised it on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J9TSq1UDhg

Whatsapp video OIS ?

Hi all, OIS or Eis not working while video recording over whatsapp, any way to enable it ? Thanks.
First of all there is no ois for Rog phone 2, then coming to eis, it's of no use. So you won't feel any difference even though there is eis. If you have shaky hands it's better buy some OnePlus phones. They have ois in almost all phones.
