normally it wouldn't be this hard to get MMS working and it has given me issues multiple times before to the point that i had to call them about it. i fixed it most times before but nothings working this time
as a last resort what id usually do is just delete the text messing app data and it will work but this time i have tried the following.
tried like 4 different apns and mixed them together and also apart
resetting the app data
rebooting
no matter what i do its acting up, but calls, lte and sms work
im running xiaomi.eu miui 12

Hi all,
Since upgrading to 5.0 OTA I have had a lot of trouble sending/receiving MMS messages. The messages I do receive are very low-res, but usually I can't receive them at all. When I try to send them, about 90% of the time, it just hangs on "sending..." and burns through my battery as it tries for hours to send the picture.
I've tried the following:
clearing cache
Hangouts, Messenger, Stock messaging app
Wifi / not Wifi
Resetting APNs
Toggling airplane mode
Soft reboot
Hard reboot
etc, etc.
It seems to mostly be when I'm at work, which is weird because I have full 4G service while I'm here (I work in downtown Portland, not exactly the boonies) It happens other times, too, but while at work it's far more prevalent.
No problems sending/receiving texts.
Does anyone have a potential solution?
Thanks.
Bumping this - I'm getting the exact same issue. Very frustrating and I can't figure out how to get around it.
Same here. Posted similar thread. Troubleshooted everything. Must be a lollipop issue unfortunately
Okay, so I'm not sure what is going on with my phone, but here it goes. I am currently using a Droid Turbo on Cricket Wireless (AT&T MNVO). I updated the phone to Lollipop yesterday and all seemed fine until I sent an MMS. I got a response from my friend, who asked if I had sent him a picture, which I had. My friend took a screenshot of the picture message I sent to him and it shows that it originated from a phone number with "346" (Houston, TX) area code, which is not my number as I am in southern California and have a 909 area code. I sent another MMS to him, but that message showed it originated from another 346 area code, completely different form the first 346 number. I did this several times with the same result.
I rebooted the phone & did several factory resets, but the same thing happens with whenever I send an MMS. SMS messages on the other hand work fine and show that they originate from my number. I checked the APN settings, allowed Cricket to send the auto configuration APN's, and even manually put in their APN's, but I get the same result. I tried different messaging apps (stock, ChompSMS, Next SMS, Hangouts, etc.) and they all do the same thing.
Called Cricket, but since it's prepaid service, they "reset" my network settings and told me they could not provide any further assistance with my phone. I put my SIM card back into my old iPhone and sent an MMS, which sent & was received normally.
I'm not sure what the issue is, any help would be much appreciated.
Well, after a week of hopelessness, another factory reset seems to have finally done the trick. Everything is back to normal now, still have no clue what went wrong with my messages.
Ok so i figured i would look for help here before ending up at a t-mobile store with my rooted g4.
My issue is as of yesterday my phone stopped being able to send sms. It receives them fine. And can place and receive calls fine. My bill is paid up and my service is A-OK. I have the same results on cellular or wifi calling. Text gets stuck as "sending". Then never sends or fails. Just stays as "sending" even after rebooting.
I'm running the 10n firmware, rooted and debloated. I have not changed any settings or any apps recently at all. It just sorta stopped.
I have tried:
-removing and cleaning my sim card
-clearing cache
-screaming at my phone
-turning off wifi
-canceling all pending texts, rebooting, clearing cache again
All with no luck. Any advice? Ideas? Theories?
I find myself constantly rebooting when this occurs, which is often.
It's the one disappointing problem with this phone.
Have you tried any other text apps, such as textra or handcent, just to see if it's your messaging app?
gonna try Textra next. Seems to be a popular suggestion.
Had this happened to me too. Tried Textra and it got better but still has hiccups
Tried Textra, Chop and a couple others. None as good as the OEM LG app. I think this phone just has wifi issues.
For past week or two I have been having sms issues. Some of my friends send me sms and they dont get through. It not related to specific provider ( I had issues receiving txt from Sprint and T-mobile and also at&t) Any ideas what could be causing random missing texts ?

Update PRL and Profile under System Update in Settings and see if that resolves your issues. [emoji6]

already tried that several times - no luck
I had the same issue. I have Google Voice integration, so I can check through the app if my text messages were coming in.
This is how I fixed my issue, but your milage may vary.
So a few weeks ago I added "DUN" to the apn to get the hotspot mod working on my phone so I could tether my laptop while on the go. Then I realized some MMS messages were coming in up to a day late. Then I realized I wasn't getting many text messages, so I checked Google Voice and it showed many unanswered replies. I connected the dots, after updating the profile, prl, clearing cache, doing data diagnostics, and many hours of hair pulling. I use texting for work often, so I needed to fix this.
Then I realized that I did the hotspot mod, and gave it a random chance that perhaps this was my problem. I removed the "DUN" from the apn and rebooted, sent a few test messages, and I started to receive all the messages just fine. I doubt changing the apn would prevent texts from showing up, but I've seen phones do crazy things before.
So if you did the hotspot mod, disable that/undo it/revert it back to default apn. And go in and manually check that the "DUN" is no longer there. If you didn't do the hotspot mod, then I have no idea how to help ya bro.
But give this a shot, because that's what helped me.
Call sprint. Have them turn off your phone. Let them reset the data and voice for your phone. Then you turn it back on and dial ##72786#. This should fix all the data on your phone.

I flashed different Custom ROMs now. The problem occured out of nowhere, I changed nothing. I was not able to receive nor make calls. Phone app works, but on the call screen it is stuck on dialing. SMS and mobile data are working fine nonstop all the time.
In the current rom I changed some network settings (en- and disabled enhanced 4G-calling, disabling WiFi calling, updating APN manually, choose cellular network manually) and I got it to work 2-3 times randomly inbetween. But when I tried again with nothing at all changed it didn't work again.
Resetting the network settings, the device, clearing cache and dalvik, clean flashing the rom again, or even switching roms didn't solve the problem (did not try it on stock rom though until now! But really would like to also have phone function on custom roms...)
If someone got a solution for this, I'd be happy about some help, phone without calling function is not really useful to me. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I noticed, that when entering *#06# on the numpad I only get a serial number, no IMEI, I don't think that this is normal?
