Samsung Tab S 10.5 highest android version - Galaxy Tab S General

I've attempted to root this tablet with kingo app, and also pc version. But it stops at 90%. can anyone tell me best way to root an old tablet like this and also the highest version I can use and if it can be done by a novice with no experience?
TIA

Hi, just stay at official Android 6, or upgrade to LineAge OS 14.1 (Android 7)

Android 6.0 worth it?

Got a rooted stock 5.1.1 with Xposed Nexus 6 right now.
I am wondering whether or not its worth it to install Android 6.0 because Xposed for Android 6.0 is out. Nothing that Android 6.0 offers is enticing to me.
Can anyone post a link to what google has done in terms of security for Android 6.0? There are 3 android 6.0 files right now in the firmware site.
Android 6.0 is so incremental that everything featurewise it offers can already be done with xposed or 3rd party apps. The only open question is security.
I really dont want to flash and lose my stuff to this. Battery life with my current setup is fine for me.
Battery life is a lot better as it goes into "Doze" mode when inactive. I'm sure there's more . It's also a bigger pain to root than before.

Possibly a dumb question about 8.4

Hi, I'm new to this whole android thing. I bought the R1 HD primarily for google maps via android auto. I updated to 8.4, but it still says its Android version 6.0. Does this mean it's still android 6.0, but update 8.4? I wanted to try out the latest android OS. Which I'm not sure if it is 7 or 8.
Yep, newest Android is 7.1.2, there is no way to get it on this phone, and there never will be.
"Update 8.4" or "Update 7.4.2" is referring to the ROM version that BLU puts out. 7.4.2 -8.4 all use android 6.0.
I'm waiting for the Sony camera support in LineageOS to get that sweet sweet android 7.
Thanks for the replies. I understand now, and also have been able to test out the new Android Nougat OS. I think I got it figured out. Thanks again.

Any opinion?: firmware choice: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T810

Any opinion?: firmware choice: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T810 [moved from Android General Q&A]
I'm looking for best bets for choosing a good firmware update for this older SM-T810 tablet that I still like. It is Wifi-only.
The tablet recently got very flaky on Android 5 so I let it install an auto-downloaded image for Android 6. The new image probably came from Samsung since I was told at purchase that device had official Samsung firmware for Android 5.1.1. (see ABOUT DEVICE below)
Things got worse using the new Android 6 image, so bad that I'm ready to install new firmware by sideloading.
1. Since the device was rooted by prior owner (see: DEVICE HISTORY below for details) I am guessing I have little to gain by sticking with an official Samsung image--unless nothing else works. Does that sound right? And, does anything prevent me from going the non-Samsung route?
2. If it makes sense at this point to try a non-Samsung image, my question for folks here boils down to this: where am I likely to have the best luck finding a build that will work well on the device? For example, I wonder
who are the most experienced makers of firmware for this older tablet?
and which version of Android--7 or 8? Should I avoid 8 or go for it?
(I've seen an unofficial Lineage OS build for Android 8. I believe that Android 7 builds exist, too.)
Thanks for any suggestions.

I bought in 2017 on swappa.com. Seller told me "What you would get out of the box is the official Samsung OEM firmware for Android 5.1.1 (XAR-T810XXU2BPB1-20160323135521) with the official Samsung recovery. Updates will apply without issue, either by directly loading with Odin or SmartSync, or doing an OTA firmware update....It is running pure stock firmware now. Since it was rooted at one point, the Samsung Knox flag is tripped. It's the only thing that would distinguish this device from a new-in-box tablet."]
Linesgeos 15.1 Oreo is about the best you can get on gts210eifi.

Thanks. I didn't know it had GTS210 gpu.
Notebookcheck.net and Wikipedia show it as ARM Mali-T760 MP6.
Whatever, Lineage OS 15.1 doesn't seem to have any serious competition. Hope it works when I try it--first time jitters!
I got N on mine for a long time. Now I get O 15.1 linesgeos now. It looks like the best for gts210wifi for now.

Do you face app launch issue after upgrading from Android 9 to Android 10?

Hello all,
I'm an app developer.
Recently, starting from mid of December 2019, I receive a lot of complains from Galaxy S10/ S10+/ S10e users.
After they have upgraded from Android 9 to Android 10, they are no longer able to launch my app anymore. The only workable workaround, is to uninstall my app, and reinstall again. This is very annoying, as this causes app data loss.
From my side, it is very difficult for me to replicate the problem. I can only gain access to Galaxy S10+ remotely (via Samsung Developer Test Lab), which is installed with Android 9, or already installed with Android 10. I suspect, I need to go through an Android 9 to Android 10 upgrade process, only I can reproduce the problem.
The following is the testing I can do so far via remote Samsung Developer Test Lab.
1) Install old version of my app in Android 10.
2) Launch without issue.
3) Upgrade my app to latest version in Android 10.
4) Launch without issue.
I was wondering, as Samsung Galaxy S10/ S10+/ S10e users, do you face any app related issue, after upgrading your device to Android 10, during 2019 December time frame?
Thanks.

Hi, thanks!
Currently, I have disable official download by Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e from Google Play Store due to high crash rate.
You may download the latest APK from here - https://github.com/yccheok/wenote.jstock.co/raw/master/release-2.46.apk
I notice if the user phone is already installed with Android 10, installing WeNote will not cause issue.
However, the problem will more easy to occur, based on the following scenario
1) User phone is using Galaxy S10 Android 9
2) User download and run WeNote
3) User upgrades phone to Android 10
4) User unable to launch WeNote
Looking forward your feedback.
Thanks.
It seems to be working fine on Android 10(I've already updated)
Maybe you can be more specific where/when it crashes

Crash happens, when user upgrade from Android 9 to Android 10. (WeNote is installed when their phone is in Android 9)
After that, they are no longer able to launch WeNote.
But, if you install WeNote since Android 10, most probably there is no issue.
Can you help me to monitor for few days, to see whether WeNote can continue to be launched even after a few days?

Installing Lineage OS on Blu R1 HD

I see mention from several other threads on here that it is possible to install an older version of Lineage OS onto rooted Blu R1 HD. My phone is rooted but I'm not sure which version of Lineage to use on my Blu phone. Most of the guides I see mention using at least Android 7 or Android 8. My phone is still on Android 6.0 and does not seem to want to update when I select "wireless update" in settings.
Any solutions on how to update? What about which version of Lineage I should use? Or is there a version of Lineage I can use on Android 6.0 that isn't too buggy?
Thanks in advance.
