Clear cache of all apps at once - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

On the pixel 4 xl how do you clear cache of all apps at once?

I use SD Maid Pro

Not really: I use SD MAID (not rooted) but apps cache is not cleared completely. If I run SD MAID and then I go into each app's cache, data ais still there

I think you need root for it to properly clear out cache.

Oh I didn't even notice data was written instead of cache, but yes I second this quote as well lol

Sorry my fault...
What I meant is: I would like to delete the CACHE (not DATA) of all apps all at once.
It was once possible in Andoid 9 from settings, but since 10 it is not possible any longer.
If I use SD MAID it seems that not all cache is being deleted, but I may be wrong...

Try the app with root.

Is There any other valid app for non-rooted devices that only delete cache at oce please?

SD Maid still is the better app for it.

[Q] How much used Storage in 'other' on HTC one

Hi
I'm very new to Android. I just flashed ARHD 4.3 to my rooted HTC one. Before that it was on rooted stock 4.1.2. Now, when I look at the 'other' section in storage in my settings info I have over 7gb of data in there.
Before I flashed ARHD, I wiped cache, dalvik cache, performed factory wipe, formatted data, system and cache. I was pretty thorough.(I even formatted my sd/data and lost root so I had to to adb Sideload superSU and adb sideload my ROM from my pc - not sure if I needed to sideload superSU but it seemed the right thing to do but yes, I'm still learning!)
Anyway, my question is how much data should be in Storage, Other on a 32GB Htc one? 7gb seems too much. Have I not wiped something? Is there possibly an issue with flashing that ROM. I don't seem to be able to post in that forum as I'm noob, so I'm asking here.
Thanks in advance...

This is my situation now.. I have the 32gb model and im using AndroidRev 20.2. i JUST flashed from 20.1 yesterday and did a wipe of dalvik, and a regular wipe, i didnt do the extra steps you did but now i have 15gb in other being used. it SHOULD be around 6 or less because i have a couple apks and Roms(PSP,NDS,PS1) not "ROMS" being held in my phone. I was going to back up all system data and user apps with titanium back up data but now its saying "insuffiecient free storage". I have 11 gb of storage left. Should I just copy all files to my computer from the SD? I also would like to know how to wipe away as much data and storage as possible without removing ADR 20.2

7GB of reserved space sounds about right. I also have only 25.49GB of free storage after a full format.

Change the TiBu backup folder in preferences
MENU -> Preferences -> Backup folder location -> Detect! -> Whole Device
It should find one in "/storage/emulated/legacy/<backup folder>", select that one. That should fix the insufficient space bug.

Oh OK. Thanks for letting me know. If I have no sideloaded apps,Titanium or nandroid backups, any ideas what this used 7gb might be?

i tried to do the "scan whole device" thing with Titanium Backup and it still didnt work. I might have to completely wipe the whole phone :crying:.
Would i have to re-unlock the boot loader and re-root?

What was the result of "detect", didn't it give you two locations for the backups
In either case, you won't need to re-unlock or re-root, worst case you format your sd-card (ie internal storage) using recovery. Don't forget to backup your pictures, music, etc to your PC first.

Nah man all I get is "there's no backup location" but yeah I'll just super wipe everything. After I back up my music etc.

[Q] Application Installation Problem

I need a little help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. Running on this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442024 version 20131114. I have link2sd installed and working in my phone.
Recently when I tried updating my hangouts, it wouldn't. Instead it showed me insufficient storage. I cleared the cache of all apps and hangouts data to create some more space. After all that I have managed to get a free space of about 40MB. The hangout update is only 13MB. But I'm still getting the same error while installing hangouts. After that I tried uninstalling hangouts and then install it again. It still didn't work.
Can anyone please help me with this?

I now found that I still have the problem. This time wiping cache from recovery menu didn't help. Finally I had to uninstall two other apps to install a new one. Can anybody help me?
This time I tried installing whatsapp(12MB) in my phone when I had about 40MB free internal memory. It would download from play store fine. But then while installing, it is showing "insufficient memory" error. Then I had to uninstall a game and another app(TrueCaller) to install whatsapp.
Any help would be much appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Can't clear stock internet cache

My internet cache won't clear out, its showing 1.36 TERABYTES! It seems to be causing problems with flashing things on Safestrap recovery because I'm getting an E: I/O error. Pressing on the clear cache tab in the application manager does nothing. Is there anything else I can do to clear that cache? Thanks in advance for any help.

Try clearing the cache in Titanium Backup
If that doesn't do it I think there is a bigger problem at hand.

Well, clearing the cache in Titanium didn't work but it lead me in the right direction. I backed up the apk, deleted it through Titanium then re-installed and set permissions.

Quick question. Where was this 1.3 terabyte cache being stored at on your 32 gigabyte phone?

Unfortunately after trying the fix I mentioned the problem is still there, and that 1.36 TB is supposedly on the internal storage. I'm waiting for the S5 ported ROM to get updated before I do a full wipe and start over.
Yeah, a full wipe is the only next choice. Good luck.

There is a full set of Odin files available in the general section . Flash those. Clears out everything. And you can re- root afterwards. It totally cleared up a bunch of memory and battery drain issues I had, with a full wipe.

Sorry man that's no good...maybe if you don't want to do a full wipe yet try doing the same uninstall/reinstall process then convert and freeze it?

Whats the best antivirus or cleaner to 5SPlus ?

I want an antivirus or cleaner, to wipe memory (cache, images, trash), but not stay in 2nd plane.
Is there any ?
Check Google's Files Go app.
sd maid and Google’s files go are the only good cleaners.
antivirus apps don’t do crap for your phone.
I only clean cache in settings and 1 once for month in recovery wipe cache
and .thumbnails in file menager
Honestly, Android has gotten pretty good at self maintenance - If you just download from the Playstore, like a good boy or girl, you won't need antivirus. I have used SD Maid also, but honestly, clear your cache under Storage when you get about 2 -3 GBs in, or when apps start to run laggy and you'll be fine.
The days of needing all of the excess stuff like cleaners, antivirus, and task managers are pretty close to over, unless you're installing off grid and have gigs of cached files.

Question Cache cleaning apps?

Hi guys, been using sd maid, to clean cache and it's been amazing but now it's no longer working, possibly due to samsung limiting accessibility access. What app are using to clean useless cache files on your phone please?
1. Cache is not "useless", cache is actually important to the system.
2. Stop using cache cleaning apps, those apps are the real junk to the system and completely useless.
3. When there's a rare necessity to erase cache, do it from the recovery.

Surely when some of the cache files end up taking over a lot of the memory, that can't be right surely?

Are you believing what the app cleaning app is showing the user as junk occupying a lot of space/memory and needing to clean up so that the user ends up using the app and then even pays for it and be in an illusion post cleanup that it's now "cleaner" that didn't require cleaning in the first place?
Temporary files will be created by every app being used, stored in the cache to help running it faster the next time it's launched, would provide a quicker experience overall when the user resumes any work etc. The more often such cache cleaners are used, the more the OS is prevented from giving the user an overall enhanced experienced is what I feel.
And to deal with temporary files that we don't need anymore, duplicate files, large files, Device care>Storage has these options to cleanup.
