Hello everyone im having a hard time identifying the model number of my Galaxy Tab A 8.4 2020 edition by t-mobile. it states on device checker that its model number is Sm-T307U so when i try to look up root methods and custom roms for this device theres hardly any information found. Is it because this tablet is relatively new ? or do i have the wrong model number?
i would appreciate any help and knowledge on this matter thank you ! :fingers-crossed:
That is the model number. I own one too. There is no OEM unlock which makes it highly unlikely this model will ever be rooted or have ROMs produced for it.
I'm concerned if there will ever be any updates for it, even security updates...

Thanks

Disappointing
if you go to settings and enable developer options, you can turn on the "OEM unlocking" which says that it will allow the bootloader to be unlocked

Can anyone comment on this? I do not own this tablet yet, but I do want to make sure that this option is available since I do intend to root it once I bought it. Any insights will be appreciated!

Thanks a lot! I wonder if flashing different firmware would make a difference. I might experiment in a few days.
I'd like to just find the stock firmware for it. It doesn't show up on the sammobile site and I don't know if I trust some of the other places where they say they have it. Need to flash the stock firmware in order to get rid of a Google Lock. If anyone knows of a trustworthy source, please post it. Thanks!

The latest one I have on my device is T307USQS4BTL1. I found it on https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy...2020-__/4hbc/SPR/T307USQS4BTL1/T307UOYN4BTL1/ but I haven't tested it myself. Hope it's kinda helpful.
Yeah, I've seen that one out there, along with a few on other sites that I don't really know if they're trustworthy or not. I was hoping there was something out there on a website that someone could vouch for before I downloaded it. I think I'll just have to see which site looks the least likely to have malware on it. Thanks for the reply!
I hope one is found out

It is because the bootloader is locked by the carrier. You can't root it or install custome ROMs, unless T-Mobile unlocks it.

Hi guys, i plan on buying a droid 4 on ebay. it is not unlocked. and i was really need help to get it working with Rogers in Canada.
can someone please list out the steps from unlocking, root and flash to ICS?
I'm coming from galaxy nexus and it was pretty much a one step thing. but the droid 4 seems a little more complicated after some research. like what is a safestrap??
any help would be appreciated!
thanks in advance *cheers*
well someone should probably give you the bad news... droid 4 has a locked bootloader
You don't need to "unlock, root and flash" ICS, you can just install the leaked ICS from the factory stock recovery.
The leaked ICS enables the global capabilities but beyond that I can't provide you much info.....
Also, flashing the leaked ICS is irreversible, though you can move forward as new(er) leaks are found and most likely up to the eventual OTA upgrade as well.
The leaks are designed to upgrade the stock phone.

So what do I have to do for the phone to work with rogers? Cuz the seller specifically said I need to unlock it for it to work with rogers.
There was a couple of post a few months back regarding Rogers pretty sure about how to get it working n what not just scroll through the post and find what you need...

I think what the seller may have been referring to is the SIM card. If I understand it right, the D4 works on the Verizon network with that SIM card. You have to either get a new SIM that is specifically for Rodgers, or you need to unlock the Verizon SIM card, and then it can work on anything. Sorry, I don't know how to go about doing it specifically for rodgers, but you should be able to search xda for the procedure for unlocking the SIM card. Good Luck!
If I have helped, please hit the "thanks!" button!

Hello. I have an AT&T S5 that is currently unlocked and I am using it with T-Mobile. I would love to root it and put Cyanogenmod 11 on it, as I put it on my nexus 4 before this and loved it. they say on the http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Klte_Info page not to use this guide due to the boot image signing. Does anyone have any information/instructions on how to go about completing this? Thanks!

NO. You can't. On top of that, you posted this in the wrong section.

This question is about two or three years old almost. Dude, almost all of At&t phones have LOCKED BOOTLOADERS and we will never be able to get passed it. NEVER EVER EVER,,,,,,,,Buy a T-Mobile phone!

NO. Someone wont. You go right ahead and keep flashing files, your phone is going to die. I wouldn't be flashing just whatever to see if it works. That's not a very good idea.

OK, just to clear this up one last time.
1. We can not install custom kernels, Stock TW kernels are not compatible with CM/AOSP/AOKP ROM's
2. the flashing process although it will complete does not mean the ROM will run.
3. There is (currently) no way to circumvent these issues.
4. SafeStrap will NOT flash kernels only the file system.
Some S5 and S5A devices (international models, Tmobile, Sprint) to name a few have unlocked BootLoaders
those devices can and do run CM/AOSP/AOKP ROM's. AT&T has a Locked BootLoader
I really don't mean to sound condescending however this device is fast approaching it's first birthday and many many people have tried to run CM or CM derivitives on the AT&T device, there are tons of threads cluttering the development forums in regards to this issue continuing to attempt to install a CM Build and then posting here in the AT&T forums is at this time a pointless effort.
Using the search feature either ein Goolge or in the forums will provide all the answers you need.
Thank you,

In defense of the OP, it's pretty confusing that there's the Unified Development subforum which shows up under the AT&T section... I've been wondering why there's all these threads in a subforum to AT&T talking about installing all these roms that I know shouldn't work. I figured it was just something more involved than I'm comfortable with so I've ignored it. It seems like until the AT&T BL is unlocked that we shouldn't even have the Unified section linked here.

im merely pointing out that everything i have read has pointed to it being locked (not that it cant be unlocked mind you) AT&T rarely sends devices with the bootloader unlocked whether or not you can unlock them is a different story. i merely stated that "From what i had read" sorry for the confusion

Again, no.
These are posted all over the internet and do NOT allow you to unlock or get root on the us or Canada 96XU and 96XW models. They also don't help bypass rmm prenormal on exynos (96XF/FD) or unlockable snapdragon (96X0) models. In short, they don't help with anything, other than frp bypass which is not a permitted topic on here. If anything they waste more time than anything because every time someone posts this stuff the same questions have to be answered again, and before they are people some time trying the same things that have been tried hundreds of times before and are known not to work. I personally don't think that is very helpful

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've read through the entire thread and nowhere did it say that this won't boot. Like definitively somebody said it won't boot on the 9650u. Don't come at me with that garbage I'm not out here making these stupid threads. Seriously. Obviously if it was this easy to get root then someone would have it for my device, no ****. Don't come at me with that noob parlor stuff. Seriously. The point is has somebody said "this ROM will not boot on your device" nobody said anything about this ROM actually. Is it exynos? Is it actually a COM .tar? Does it boot period? Where'd it come from? Don't come at me with your cheap post about being mad because somebody asked a question you knew the answer too. I'm sick of it on this specific forum.
Also don't take what I say to heart. I sound like an ass but it's hard to convey emotion over the internet.

I tried it as well but couldn't get it to make phone calls. I'm on Verizon and tried a few things. Yeah it's pretty plain.
It's aosp I'm really surprised Google would supply this to the masses. Reminds me of the good old days.

I wouldn't even bother trying to flash ASOP builds because I know better. This really isn't for end users. Strictly for development. I'm perplexed why people are even bothering to use it.

I have the Google store verizon on Verizon. Think you need to have an unlock bootloader to use this.

For me I was curious to see if this is like the treble ROMs that are out. There are AOSP TREBLE ROMs out that function quite well. One of the advantages is that we have a choice not use Google apps/services with the TREBLE ROMs. Just like the old days. Most of the custom roms out now are loaded with gapps.
There's even AOSP based ROMs with gapps in this section that have a lot more customations.
It's really about choice.

My wife is using one that has a locked bootloader. I tried everything without success. Then I gave up and bought the unlocked version and gave her the Verizon one LOL.
There is a thread in this section that talks about unlocking Verizon ones.
If I try this how can I flash back to a normal rom? I heard you need to use https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com but it's forbidden in my country.

It didn't work for me in the US either I just flashed the full image from Google to get back to stock.
Yeah I read somewhere that's it's a tricky business to get back to stock but I just flashed and it's back to normal. Aosp was interesting though.

If you have fastboot then download factory image, extract contents to fastboot folder and hit run
If not download the OTA zip, load up recovery, sideload update in recovery using ADB

Ok now we have a new tool. It's like the other tool mentioned in this thread. It doesn't mention needing "OEM unlocked" enabled. Question is. Can I flash Google fi firmware on my at&t phone and be able to enable "OEM Unlock" afterwards?
