hello friends , i have a lg l90 (d410) that's barely one and a half month old . it's currently running on v10 d stock firmware and is rooted. I am finding it to heating under fairly mild to moderate usage.
Here's a brief overview of my usage patterns:
1. brightness at 30%
2. using single sim and data connection is on edge network throughout
3. have removed all google bloatware, currently have very few apps installed from the playstore & also greenify them post-usage
4. use a nillkin frosted shield hard case
Even after following all precautions, I can't help but find my phone's upper part & the area below the camera (at the back) to be heating up fairly fast, sayif i watch 4-6 mins of hd/full hd video on mx player at brightness "10" & sound "12" under H/W or S/W or say when I am using data-intensive apps & would suddenly have to attend a call in between, i would find the earpiece portion really warm. no matter how many apps i get rid of, thinking it would solve the issue, I always fail ! I use cooler master to determine apps that cause overheating & coolify to cool down but they don't seem to be of any help either!
Any idea about what could be causing this issue on my device? Should this be adjudged as a hardware fault & the unit be taken to the service center? I know this isn't fairly normal because ppl r hailing l90 for not warming up even during moderate gaming but mine even warms up while charging!
Any possible software-hack workarounds to get rid of this issue?

Its probably hardware. I have an L90 whose screen flickers. A friend has L90 with poor speaker quality. Its not perfect.
Look at battery temperature using app. Under 37°C is good.
I wouldnt blame. Galaxy S4 goes upto 44°C
@fear2433 thanks for reaching out to me! ...I have seen my phone getting hot up to 47°c Celsius while playing angry birds go for some 2-3 mins. Watching a HD video for say, 5 mins takes the temperature to 41-43°c Celsius. It normally stays at 31-33.9°c. I really don't think this is normal!
Should I take it to the local service centre & request a PCB replacement?

Yes definetly.
But do not foget to uninstall custom recovery and Relock the bootloader, with KDZ method in the forum.
They will be happy to push the blame to you because you "rooted"
@fear2433- ya..sure!

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem with my Huawei P20 Pro. When the temperature is low, the screen stays black with green bands flashing. Once the temperature is higher, the phone operates normally.
Do you know this problem?

I iahve the same issue with my p20 pro. Did you fix it?
I don't think this is something put in the software. It bust be faulty hardware. I'll give mine a text later today and see what happens.

i think is definitely is a hardware issue but might not be the screen, the screen is black might caused by not enough power/current when the device is kinda cold. i think it relates to either the resister or battery

Sorry I just remembered to update you on this. I was not able to replicate this issue. I have a P20 Pro model number CLT-AL00 and that issue is not present on my device.
Getting this exact same problem with my Huawei P20 Pro. Really would love to know if it's temperature related as it this problem has been more frequent going in through winter season.
I found out that the screen won't light up if the brightness is swipe to the lowest. So I Kinda solved the problem by disable Auto brightness, make sure it is not at the minimum brightness. It works for me.
Warranty should help you with your phone. Clearly it is a defective unit
Hello,
Have you managed to sent the unit to service or something? Found the problem?
I'm asking because I have the same issue on my P20 Pro and I've tried all sort of things, safe mode, factory reset, etc., with no success.
I'm also having this problem, but I have a black screen of death (EEEK) My alarms on my phone went off this morning whilst the phone was on charge, I turned them off and when I woke up again my phone won't turn on. Have tried power and volume buttons and plugging into the computer. My room was very cold this morning as was the phone, so I'm hoping it will get life again after it gets warmer! ahhhh!

I have the same issue.. I feel it's something to do with the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display requiring a certain ambient temperature to properly function. If you've ever used a simple calculator when it's cold it takes time to adjust the flow of electrons from one cell to the next because the flow of electrons is restricted. I think this is the same case but on a much more complex level where all cells are required to work in a matrix like structure. The first time it happened I panicked though.
When I had a desire hd I used to be a ground worker for an autumn and a winter, same thing happened to me too hardware doesn't like extreme temps either way, sure a CPU / GPU can be put to either extreme but not the screen, nor the battery and probably a bunch of other components.
Strange things can happen.
When you're at room temperature does the same happen? Normal operating temperatures, same as our bodies, apple recommends this as does Google.
You'd find more on Google.
If there's a defect then sure send it in, but I have seen something similar first hand, I'd leave my phone in my jacket on the bricks (covered whilst working) and sometimes it wouldn't switch on, when back home indoors it'd be fine.
Edit: did the Google bit for you.

Thanks for descovering the issue on my phone...
I just put it on my pocket until it warms up and the problem disappeared... lol
I have the exact same problem on my p20 pro, black screen with green bands when the temp is below 22 or 23 °C, and black screen only when colder. And no solution so far...
Hi
When I leave my P30 Pro to either stream a radio station overnight or play an audiobook stored locally , the volume dips to virtually zero every 5 minutes or so, then gradually comes back up again.
Any ideas what's causing it and most importantly - how to fix it please?
Thanks

Notifications do that to me when I have headphones connected
I Have the same Problem.
I don't know what is causing it..
It's really annoying - I've never had a phone that does that
On my phone this behavior only appears, when I'm watching a video with low volume (about 20 - 30%).
I will visit a service point soon and ask them if this behavior is normal at p30 pro phones.

That could be true with mine too, I run it at low volume overnight either streaming a radio station or playing an audio book.
I'd be interested to know how you get on at the service centre if you get a chance to report back.
Hello again!
I sent my Phone for 10 days to a Huawei Repair Station in Germany. I just got at back today. They said they checked the phone at fixed the problem. But they don't  . The speaker problem is still there. Now they want me to send my Phone again to the service Station .
Actually I think it could be a software failure, because of other userers claiming that problem on reddit too.
Who else are facing the same problem ?
1)Initially, when I unlock phone by pressing power button the display was changed to dim colour(mostly yellowish) and with horizontal lines displayed when the brightness is below 50%. After tried with multiple times pressing on power button the display came back to normal.
2) Next stage, it's not solved with power button. I have to keep my phone aside for some time to get back to normal display. It's been 15 to 20 min then.
3) Now, I would get normal display only in morning. Else, I need to keep my phone idle without touching for at least 4 to 5 hours. I've also changed screen power off time from 30 Sec to 10 Minutes. So that my screen wont turn off and I can keep the normal display. If I forgot to use or kept aside more than 10 min then my screen would go off and display would gone again and irritation starts with that discoloration problem..
4) If display changes to yellowish to reduce the horizontal lines problem I need to increase the brightness to 80 or 85% but this causing my phone with another problem "heating issue"
Samsung haven't responded on this issue yet, how could we bring up the issue and get the proper resolution from Samsung.
This happened after last March update installation?
What note 9 do you have?
Probably not a hardware fault if it happened after recent software update.
A number of note9 affected although samsung seems to disagree at the moment.
Hello,
I also have a problem with the display after waking up with the POWER button. There are tinted colors distorted and some stripes like dim lines and slow refreshing. Everything started after updating to Android 10. In fact, when the display lights up incorrectly, it starts to heat up from the bottom. Putting the smartphone aside for a moment or cooling down causes the display to work correctly.
Workaround? I turned on Active Display and first knock to activate it, then the display lights up correctly and then I unlock the screen and use normally. It is known that battery consumption increases. Of course mine is Exynos.
hi guys,, i remember a similar experience sometime back.. try this. if u have turn on the proximity sensor i mean the advance feature where the phone screen doesn't turn on while in pocket , switch it off and restart the phone and see if the problem still exist.
i am having same issue
is anybody on xda come to rescue our issue?? friends need urgent help out ., if the solution is to reinstall the firmware kindly tell how to ?? while phone is just giving odd lines and not responding to touch even ??

whats the firmware version u are having now and phone model?
Try wiping the cache partition in Recovery Mode. If that doesn't work then back up your device and manually reinstall the OS back onto your device.
Im having the exact problem. I flash LineageOS and it worked by max brightness then back to auto. I installed brightness widget to max brightness and back to auto everytime I turn on screen.
This issue is popular after March update. I tried everythings you mentioned above, reset, flash new firmware, even April update, wipe cached, flash cooked rom, heat screen, turn off features, disable gpu overlay, etc... Samsung Vietnam guaranteed can fix with new screen but I'm out of warranty.
I dont have any issues us unlocked snapdragon xaa model on latest android 10 version.
Can we confirmed that a screen replacement fixes the display problem or is it still a software issue

No one knows what is the exact cause here, its noticed in many devices right after this March update but few are noticed months before. But, now the problem came to many users at same time. So its been brought up by many tech blogs, websites.

I'm having the exynos version too but with ITV (Italy) firmware ...never had this problem and now I'm on April's version after March's version.
This looks a little bit like what happened to the S5 years ago when after 1 and a half/ 2 and a half year's the screan began flickering, having green spots or lines, randomly didn't go on with low luminance settings since it completely died....a lot of people said on forum's that it was the screen and a replacement solves, but when it happened to me years ago the Samsung assistance center told me that it was another component (never told me what it was) causing the issue and once they changed it , they solved the problem.
So, after my experience with the S5, don't know what to think now for what is happening to some guys even if I think that this issue might depend with something happening after marchs update because for the too many people having it after the update, coincidences are not credible.

Yes, many people were facing this problem and how many times we have contacted the Samsung they are behaving like they just hearing the issue for the first time. Just created and posted the link in Members app and 67 members joined so far. Everyone having the display problem out of nowhere. All of them on out of warranty except one or two. Still members app floating with the display problem messages.
Display issue got noticed in S20 too but they immediately released the security patch and solved it. Don't know why they were silent on Note 9.

Yeah, but only when gaming or taking lots of 4K videos.
Thats not sounds normal..
Is there any possibility my case to cause the problem? I have one with magnetic ring for car holder
No, if the device gets as hot as you describe (and not just warm), then there is an issue. It should only get hot under extensive load.
I'm have a similar case and no issues.
Did you try to do a factory reset ?
Hmmm i will wait some days, maybe is until the phone to set up. I have it for 4 days now..
Other wise I will go for a factory reset and see what is going on
so after few days thinks are going better ...
heating its not so intense ...
what i believe the heating was until the phone to set up and start to run normally

Maybe OT for this problem, but , I have a mi 9 and the mi wireless charging pad. All worked fine until the 12.5.1 update now the phone gets hot and I get the overheating warning message when charging. (It seems they've broken something with the the CPU heating / wireless charging controls with this update , other users are reporting the same too)
