Connecting wirelessly to AA - Android Auto General

Is there a way to connect AA without wires with a rooted phone?

Yes, by a WIFI connection. But your car infotainment system should support it. This is only supported on the newest cars, but I don't know which ones.

You can use AAGateway (using an old phone as "slave" connected to you infotainment)

[Q] Car App Not Automatically Connecting To Car's Bluetooth

If i look into the settings for this app, it leads me to believe that I don't necessarily need HTC's car dock in order for the car app to automatically launch as long it connects with the bluetooth in my car? I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu and 2012 Chevy Traverse that this is happening on...
anybody?
Sorry misread, I don't use this functionality hope you figure it out.
Edit: just a thought, if it doesn't work on its own, you can always use tasker to launch carmode when connected to xyz Bluetooth...
Sent from my Sprint M8 Running the latest Viper
You don't have to buy the dock but the music and bluetooth will only start when the app is auto launched either with the dock or a special usb cord with some of the wires bridged with resistors. Starting the app by hand doesn't initiate the settings. I don't know why HTC did this but it's just the way it is. You can get the cable below or make one with an extra usb cable. I used to have a dock for my Evo4GLTE and I can verify the car app setting will work when auto launched.

Pebble to Phone to Car

I was wondering. Can my phone connect to car and pebble simultaneously? I have a oneplus one?
I thought a phone can only connect to one device over bluetooth at a time?
Thanks!
I don't have any issues connecting to other Bluetooth devices while I'm already connected to my Pebble.

Why can't i connect 2 phones bluetooth and aa

For me it is strange. I have 2 android phones, a oneplus one rooted and a samsung s8 non rooted. I try to connect the oneplus with a cable for android auto but the S8 disconnects from bluetooth, so the 2 phones can not be connected at the same time. The weirdest thing is that my wife as the iphone 11 pro max and when she is in the car i can connect the S8 with android auto and the iphone still works with bluetooth. Why can't i do this with 2 android phones?
So, if i can connect the S8 with aa and the iphone via bluetooth, why can't i connect another android phone
rather than the iphone.?
If in my car, i have 2 "slots" for bluetooth connection:
1 combination : S8 connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and iphone connected using the other BT "slot", works fine
2 combination: S8 connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and oneplus one connected using the other BT "slot", never works
3 combination: oneplus one connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and S8 connected using the other BT "slot", never works
Why?
I think this is an implementation issue of the head unit. In the Subaru, I've had my phone connected to AA for navigation and my wife has used hers on bluetooth for calls. Try turning bluetooth off on the phone that is connected to AA - I don't remember, but I may have had to do that.

Hi. I have the same problem. But, if I freeze all the bluetooth services of the phone that is connected by cable (bluetooth does not work), I can connect the other phone by bluetooth to make calls and android auto works correctly.
This solution is not the best for me, since I want to connect the obd2 to the bluetooth of the phone that is permanently connected to AA.
I read online that there are people who could solve it by cloning the same bluetooh mac on both phones. But I can't find how this procedure is done.

I believe that android auto won't work unless your phone Bluetooth tooth and cable connected to head unit.
Either one is missing, it won't work.
Correct me if I am worng

Hi. I believed the same as you. But, in my case, if I disable all bluetooth services, android auto still works, with the cell phone connected by cable. (cell phone bluetooth is disabled)
I would like to find a way to use it to connect the obd2, to the cell phone that is permanently connected.
Any idea how to solve this?
Today i had the S8 connected to the infotainment system by bluetooth and then i connected the oneplus with the cable (because i had to restart the oneplus), it started the Android auto connection and for moments the 2 phones where working at the same time (i continued to listen to music from S8 and had the android auto interface on). I was viewing google maps on aa and when i switched app, the connection with S8 broke. I still don't understand, i thought that the 2 channels i had in my car for bluetooth where not connected between one another, but it seems that with 2 android phones the connection is broken. I insist, with the iphone and any other android phone works just fine.

Hi. To me, android auto forces to connect the bluetooth of the cell phone that is connected by cable. If android car is not running I can have both phones.

It does not have to be that way, at least for me. And if this works like that is a bad implementation of android auto. My car has 2 slots for bluethoot connection, i think they would have to work independently from each other, but in this case you have 2 android phones, it seems that the connection is linked in the 2 slots and it will not work, but if you have an iphone and an android phone the 2 slots work independently and they work just fine. So...Why? I still can't get it, it shouldn't be like this.
Hi mates, the same here!
I´ve an android radio with bluetooth 5.1 and can´t find a way to connect 2 Android phones at the same time. Tha´s ´cos 1 is for calls and 2 is only for music (rooted with Viper4android). Do I need another bluetooth adapter in order to make the 2nd phone working? Or what??
Tks so much and tks in adv
In the last week i has able to connect the 2 android phones via Bluetooth in my car. The trick here is to connect first the phone that you will use for calls, and then connect the other phone. If you try to do it the other way arround it won't work.

I tried the way you described, but as soon as you try to connect 2nd phone, my android head unit says to disconnect 1st phone, in order to connect 2nd phone.
Just FYI
1st phone= S10 (for receiving calls)
2nd phone= Oneplus X (android auto)
Honda accord head unit ( android auto)
For me it's not possible.
Can you describe step by step your thing. Cause AFAIK I have no go.

First off all, my car has 2 slots for bluetooth devices, normally i use an iphone (wife) and a samsung s8. In the past weeks i was trying to connect the s8 and an oneplus one. I struggled at first but now i only need to have the oneplus turned off and connect the s8 to the bluetooth of the head unit, then i turn on the oneplus witch is very fast since this device has few apps installed and connect with the cable via android auto. I even share the internet connection between phones and can play youtube videos in the head unit. The car is a Skoda Kodiaq 2017 (VW group).

I still can't find the solution

Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid Plug IN Non wireless connection

Hi folks.
I own the car in the title.
I read on google site that this car is compatible with android auto wireless.
I have a Galaxy 10 wit androisd 10 installed.
I read on google site that to connect andorid auto wirelessly you need to connect the phone via USB cable. ??????????????
I can not, in any way, make android auto working wirelessly, but it works via usb
Is it true that the car is compatible for wireless connection?
Is it thrue that you neeed to connect the phone to the car via usb to use it wirlessly? I am confused.!!!
What can I do to make it work wireless?
Thanks for your help.
Ciao from Italy.
Enzo
FIRST TIME connect with wire, setup finish, next time you get in the car, start it up, starts wireless connection (don't plug in the wire). Don't forget to turn on the switch in AA settings 'wireless connection'. Good luck!

Google only lists cars which support Android Auto. They don't distinguish wireless - e.g. Google doesn't say if a car support AA wireless. Only a very few 2020 cars support wireless, a few more in 2021. I don't think any Citroen is among them.
Thanks.

Android Auto Wireless w. P40 Pro?

Hi all,
I am currently trying to connect Android Auto (wireless) to my P40 Pro and my car. Google services run on the phone, Android Auto also runs on the smartphone, but I can't get AA to show up on the display in the car. The car can though (Skoda Enyaq iV 80, similar to a VW ID.4).
In AA on the smartphone I can read a note: "Android Auto was not pre-installed on your device..." blah blah. Does anyone have Android Auto on the P40 Pro and can use it with the car's infotainment system? And what do you have to do to do that? Am I missing any specific google service?
Thanks, jennix

Hi svetius, thanks, until now i've tried only wireless Android Auto, because the car has only USB C connectors (the small ones) and i do not own an appropriate cable yet. I ordered one...

hi first you need to connect the phone to the car with the cable once and then it will be normally automatically

Hi, today the cable should be delivered. I'll try then and we'll see...
Yesterday i tried to connect the phone via cable to the Infotainment System to use Android Auto. This works, but only if the phone is not connected to the Infotainment System in parallel via Bluetooth.
Wireless Android Auto still doesn't work at all with this phone and this Infotainment System, even if it was previously connected via cable.

So you say that android auto it's not compatible with p40 pro gms sideloaded?
At least it seems so. I have an older Xiaomi Pocofone F1 with LineageOS 18.1 and gApps. This phone works with AA Wireless, but it can not charge wirelessly (which the car can because a Qi charging cradle with antenna amplifier is built in). Therefore, I would already like to use the Huawei, because that is my everyday phone.

I have the same issue! And all the trouble is caused by the phone!
P40 doesn't know to move to his mobile data when the connection is made so is not providing internet.
What about the internet connection of the phone? Android Auto connects via wifi and not via wifi hotspot of the phone. So how does the internet work? Usually the phone tries to use the internet connection of the wifi when it is connected to a wifi. In this case the headunit provides wifi but no internet. Will the internet connection work anyway? How?
My car multimedia device has no wireless AA. Only using cable I can run AA. I ordered this device to use it for wireless AA. I will let you know if it works when it will arrive (few days).

Whoops ! I finally manage to connect my Huawei P40 Pro wirelessly with Android Auto on my Skoda Kodiaq My 2021.
First the car multimedia has to support AA wireless, in my case , yes.
For almost 4 months i have used AA connecting the phone with the usb cable because a small error wich i didnt realise for all this time !
After initially connect the phone thru usb you can go ahead and do it wireless and when you get the message on the phone : this Skoda not have internet connection, you want to connect ? - Choose CANCEL , and thats is. On my case , choosing CONNECT was wrong and took all tis time to understand and to look for a fix !!! Practic you need to have phone wifi on but not connected to a car network.
I have to mention : my P40 pro have Google Services
