Can't use my headset microphone anymore (actually now I'm not sure if it has ever worked correctly). For some apps it does work (e.g. WhatsApp), for some (including signal or skype) it doesn't.
I could reproduce the error: using the mic test app by Laureano there are two options for "mic mode": direct and communication. "Direct" uses my headset as intended, but "communication" ignores headset and uses phone built in mic - just like the described problem with signal and skype.
Any Idea what is causing this problem? Or what could be a solution?

So, I've been trying to use my BT headset and a voice recorder but Diamonds seems to use only its internal microphone and not BT's one. Jabra BT 3030 (dogtag) is the device I'm using. There are wireless stereo and handsfree profiles in BT settings which are both checked.
Why I can't record my voice with Jabra? Is there a software way to make it use Jabra's microphone?
Apart from this everything else (calls and streaming music) works fine.
No ideas? Anybody? I sent the problem to Jabra/HTC support but didn't get nothing concrete as an answer.
I can't believe that bluetooth device's microphone can't be used for recording?
The same thing worked on Symbian Nokia device I used before...
The answer...
is VJVolubilis

I tried it to make it possible to talk with voiceclips in the live messenger, trough the headset, works perfectly. Axel
I've got a bluetooth headset (Nokia BH-503) which works great for calls and music.
However, I tried using it with the Teamspeak app, and found out the voice is still being recorded from the phone mic itself.
To add on this, when I try to record (with the built in app) or use voice commands - It doesn't work (It doesn't record through the mic. It just doesn't work at all.)
Is there a way to use a BT headset as a mic outside of calls? It's obviously possible, since it works on calls, but what about everything else?
I have read many other posts on this issue, but still haven't found an answer (maybe there isn't one). How do I make a paired bluetooth microphone replace the internal one ? No matter what I do the Z's internal mic remains active. I just want my BT headset and BT speakerphone to behave like a wired headset. The only app that accepts input from BT mics (apart from being in call) is the unusable Voice Dialer.
This has frustrated me for years with both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S8. No matter how I configure things (I've tried every imaginable combination of settings but may have missed something) it refuses to use the bluetooth mic to input navigation commands into Google Maps. It always uses the phone mic even when sending audio to the bluetooth device. This is especially frustrating with motorcycle helmet bluetooth, making voice navigation impossible when riding. Bluetooth mic works fine for phone calls, so the basic functionality is present. Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps found a solution?
I have 2 pairs of bluetooth headphones, each with a built-in microphone. My phone (galaxy s10) however, refuses to use those microphones. When I plug in wired headphones I can use the mic without a problem.
But when I connect my bluetooth headphones, the microphone simply doesn't work. I've looked through every option but can't seem to find a way to use the microphone.
Does android10/samsung even support bluetooth microphones? Is there any option I've overlooked?
Hi,
I can confirm I am having this exact issue with Galaxy A40.
Can you tell me if recording of the Bluetooth mic works if you use the MicTest (by Laureano) app form the app store?
This works great for me. Which tells me the mics in my case (a plantronic and a jabra) both work just fine.
But when it comes to calling and using other apps (Teams, Whatsapp, Samsung voice recorder) the phone just defaults to the internal microphone.
Is there a setting missing here?
