I am new to the N6 world and I am not happy with the battery performance getting around 3.5 SOT and max of 12 hrs of overall battery usage. I am so tempted to root, CM12.1 and Franco kernel. But I am hearing bad battery results with CM12.1. I know everyone has different way of usage but if you can share your experience it will be great. I have three pus email accounts one is exchange, twitter, instagram, Google+ (manual sync), screen brightness is 10%, no adaptive brightness, no ambent display, no location, i use Google now, rarely play games, dropbox, Google drive, one drive, turned off all Google sync except for contacts, calendar... etc.

You can squeeze another hour of SOT with a custom ROM and kernel. I usually get 4 to 4.5. Everyone's phone is unique but benzo kernel gives me very good battery life regardless of the ROM it is used with. It is based off hells core kernel which many people agree is among the best.

Good luck!
A custom ROM with settings with by Kernel Adiutor (or Synapse,...) *may* help. There are so many factors, including use (which you've touched on), areas of travel/use (and therefore reception), baseband version,...
Regardless, your willingness and patience to experiment with different kernels (recommend hellscore/benzoCore or blu_spark as starting points) and ROMs are very helpful!
Has anyone tried CM12.1 it seems like a very clean interface?

Try the M3 stock. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The battery is what it is, you can get some improvements however I think most of them exist in how the device deep sleeps. JDX 3.01 (rom) is in the thread. Good luck.

All custom kernels.can be tweaked for battery life. The choice.of kernel is pretty much irrelevant, unless you can't be bothered to learn the tweaks
Also, ROMs.have very little influence on battery life unless it's bloated and poorly coded. Although in.not saying CM is either of those things, typically cm ROMs have been poorer on battery life than their aosp cousins.

My N6 - stock 5.1.1 - Franco Kernel.
For battery life I am using apps with a black background when possible.
No G-mail but K-9 Mail.
No wallpaper 'No wallpaper app'.
WiFi interval changed to 200 with build.prop editor.
Flashed Black Google Now launcher
(Needs Google.app updates uninstalled).
Disabled not used g-apps.
Disabled not used services.
Actually today I am bit surprised of how well the battery behaved. I got 4 hrs SOT, 3 hrs of talk time, listing to music.
Here is what I did and I believe that pumped up my battery performance.
1. Switched network to 3G.
2. No WiFi.
3. Wiped cache from boot recovery.
I will keep an eye on it but if that's the case then I will just stay stock until M is out.

Yes agree, I noticed that too (switching to 2G).
Probably the 4G network is to weak for indoor use, and maybe bad signal causes more battery.
Hope you don' t mind that I add another point.
4. Restrict app background data of all apps. (Settings - Data usage - < per app setting > )
I just flashed Android M P3 and it looks promising regarding battery life and I am like the added features. Highly recommend to check it out.

Having a difficult time to survive the day with b391, battery drains on deep sleep so, what is your best performer ROM on battery life?.
Or what rom doesn't have battery drain when the phone is in deep sleep? (B391 lost between 2-3% per hour which is HUGE.
Actually im testing b360 LATAM, will post the results later if anyone is interested.

I agree, that is a lot - I only lose 1-2% overnight when the phone is suspended (in Ultra battery mode).
When you go into Battery Manager > Consumption level, which apps are using the most under the 'All' & 'Background' tabs?
With all apps closed, I've 21 apps under 'All' & only 1 app under 'Background' (WhatsApp). The top 5 in the 'All' list are as follows. How does this compare to yours?
Google Services (13.45%)
Google App (11.77%)
Android System (5.12%)
Android OS (3.43%)
System UI (3.06%).

30hrs remaining with only 30% battery is amazing (or, it's reporting wrong figures?).
I'm getting 'only' 36hrs remaining with 98% battery.
2-3 %/hr is awesome in my opinion..
I've been using fRomFuture - Home for a while. The battery life is sooo bad but I just haven't changed rom yet.
Say I wake up at 7:30 am, check reddit for 5 minutes. Then go on and shower with maybe 2-3 songs playing on spotify. Also maybe 1 phone call and answering a text. Then I'm down at 80-85% by the time it's ~8:15-8:30.
My phone usually has ~10% battery left when I get home at ~ 3pm the same day. I don't even use it much when I'm at uni.
I really miss the doze feature, apps closing when screen off is such a bummer, makes phone ankward to use.
On my humble idol 3 i lost like 3% overnight, with all apps and sync working on the background.

If you don't find out what's draining your battery you can't fix it.
I come from a Moto G 1st gen (XT1032) and I couldn't agree more. I can't use the P8 (ALE-L23) in the same way that my now deceased Moto. Google My Tracks drain the battery quickly, Google Fit? No way José! Even Whatsapp trigger the alert for power hungry apps.
I don't recommend the P8 to anyone interested in use his phone like a tracking/navigation system. The GPS is also bad.
The gps is one of the most precise, with 3 satellite constelations and more precise than Samsung Note 3 and any Lumia phone for example. I use it for map data collect in some cases ( i work in the same business) and it didnt consume too much compared with an older Note 3 and a Lumia 925...

Not at all.
I use the Greenify app for the "aggressive doze" and "doze on the go" functions. No problem what so ever with battery drain on idle, I'm currently still on B391.
Doze on the go really helps if you carry your phone in your pocket all day like me. I'm getting 4 1/2 hours screen on time browsing, you tube, lots of SMS etc.

I also used it while charging for about 15-20min.
10 minutes of SOT and 95% from 100%.Is this normal?
Depends what you are using the phone for. If it's something that needs a lot of CPU (like games) that sounds normal. Also depends on what period this was over as the phone will also consume power on standby (obviously).
I think i have found a solution for the battery i may make a video, even though it might be silly but it is worth trying. Or maybe i make short videos. My p9 amazed me yesterday. It did an unbelievable job.
I had 20% and i used it for 2 hour and half and when i checked the consumption i found the screen was on about 2 hours 21 min, i was using internet at the same time, listening to music and take photos. After this 2 hours and half the battery did reduce only 1% which means about 2 hours and half of usage and it stayed 19%.
And before that in the morning. I had 3% i chatted 30 minutes with the screen on and talked on the phone for 15 minutes and it stayed 3% haha..

For example while watching a movie use headphones instead of the speaker. It makes a big difference. On the previous screen shots i did not use them but i watched about 57 minutes on Netflix.
And for example while playing games or watching a movie or only using whatsapp, instagram, facebook, messenger and even the camera use only the ultra power saving, it makes a big difference. I can show you how it makes the difference and you compare yourself or try it with your mobile. Even you can check if the mobile will charge fast or not. Plus i disabled some features which are draining the battery and it worked.
For the first reply here when i used it for 2 hours..... I did use only ultra power saving anf it gave me a good time. I really love this mobile. I am usually using ultra power saving even outdoors because i can see the screen but sometimes i switch to the normal mode but with using the intelligent saving mode.
I think i explained lot here but maybe i can try to make a video if people want.

I used the netflix for about 57 monutes and before some internet.
By the way listening to music by the speaker or by headphones makes a big difference.
Are you with making a video?
Please let me. Know .
Ok but if you use ultra save mode then smartphone is no more smart is like an "iPod or MP4 " ... I mean you're r losing some aspects that convert a phone into smartphone... IMHO.

Absolutely you are wrong. On android 7 it is different i still can use Facebook, camera, messenger and everything. And it really works well. For example, now i am not using ultra mode and i charged my phone over 12 hours ago, and i am using the internet and it did drain 30% of 2 hours 4 minutes of internet and screen on....
Look here. It really works well. Except when you open the camera then just sya goodbye to the battery haha. But i am trying to find a solution.
And now see.
After over 3 hours it remains 56%.

Here it is. Sorry. The app does not work well.
Hi guys
I'm not discovering the fire but I want to make a little contribution for those who has bad sot (I was really annoying for me because I can understand the upsets users ones), this was my discoveries:
The first one and most important:
It seems that the phone is programmed for a certain time of use, I mean it has a maximum time for sot: 6 - 9 hrs so you have to use that time to spend it on screen time because the phone also uses the battery for other stuffs. So if you pretend to get 6 hours or more in more than 1 day you will become mad and taking the phone and throwing it throw the window.
The second one:
Continuing with the last point doesn't matter if you try to save battery reducing resolution or stuffs like that. I use every day performance mode at max resolution and sound quality. The important thing is manage very well the brightness so disable the 10%extra from performance mode. Actually I could reach 6 hours at 1% with a intensive use with wify, data, gps and stuff like that.
The third one:
It is unuseful try to disable things and apps from the phone, they are not important on battery usage except for brightness and (at least for me) AOD. This one drains my battery and I really don't know what to do with this so it is disabled for me.
And the fourth and last one:
It seems that the battery needs a intensive usage in order to get it max potential. Some days ago I use the phone heavily charging it with the dex dock and using the interface and I noticed before that the battery expand it life.
Well, I'm testing if a dark theme is useful or not in order to get better sot but mean while I'm pretty happy with the battery life (40 days of usage); at beginning was very upset with this.
Hope to be useful for anyone.
Cheers and my best regards and thankfulness for the help of the community.
Thanks man
What's this 10% extra thing you are referring to?

To me after switching to android10 the battery can barely last 24 hours and the screen on it barely comes in up to 4 hours ... but barely
Went feom 6 hrs sot to just above 5 hrs on the January update of Q.
I update to android 10 2 days ago and the battery is terrible.im hoping it takes a week to improve .like it did when we installed android 9 pie
My battery life is definitely worse than it was before the update. Probably I should reset the phone.
I have updated my Note9 to Android 10 24hrs ago and so far everything is great. Battery life has not decreased significantly. Performance is at least the same if not better. I did not factory reset the phone yet.
All other features work as before (LED notifications, bluetooth, etc.) Gestures work fine, for me it is an extra value, but it depends on a user if they provide better UX depending on type of usage, hand size, etc.
I will report more after 1 week.
For me I down graded to the lastest android pie version 9.because firtly the screen on time dropped from 8 hours to 5 ,plus I really dont like the new screen colour balance in. Adaptive mode .when you turn the slider from cool to warm in adapative mode it's now goes from blue to brownish yellow.instead of on android 9 where the slider goes from green at cool and pinkish at warm.samsung have made the screen like the note 10 plus screen now via this update.i dont like that as I keep my phone on the warm setting and that yellowish look is not appealing. Also found a bug in the calendar your calendar entry dissaper sometimes and you have to swipe up on the calendar to make them appear again.annoying
The adaptive screen mode slider on android 9 pie is much nicer the screen looks way better in pie than in android q 10.there is only one thing I hate on android pie 9 and that's your recent apps close over night and leave you with 3 or 4 left.this is fixed in android 10 confirmed
android 9/10 uses adaptive battery usage. When you install/update newer OS then it restart learning. give it 10-20 days and it will be back to its normal usage or even better.
