update Google services fire 7 5th generation - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my wife's tablet stopped working and I have a old fire 7 5th generation that my kids stopped using when they got a new tablet this Christmas. I remember than when I bought I followed some tutorial and removed the adds, installed a custom launcher the play store and root the service. l
Today when I wanted to add my wife's Google account I kept getting a login error and was not able to register the account into the device. I Google the error and it seems it might be because the tablet has an old Google play services, account manager, etc.
So my question is, can I safely download the latest apk from https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/06/09/install-play-store-amazon-fire-tablet/?amp
install them old on top of the ones already install, or will I break the play store, etc?
thanks for the help

Backup your valuable files to your SD card before you reset your Fire tablet to factory defaults and re-install all Googe services (Framework and Account Manager are same on Android version like 5.1.1).
Want to unlock and root (Ford is for Fire 7 2015 and Austin is for Fire 7 2017, follow the steps carefully)

Hi thanks for the reply.
I actually went ahead a installed the new versions of the apps in top of the old ones and it worked. I am able to add a new google account the tablet.
Any way if I actually go ahead and do the factory reset, do you do it from within the fire 7 OS?
Thanks for your help.

How can I sign in to google play in my amazon fire HD 7 5th gen.

I was able to sideload google play store and other google apps in my fire and during sign in when I clicked on existing account then after entering password it said something like couldn't establish a reliable connection but my WiFi was working fine .
Then I tried the new option and created a new google account and it worked.
After some days I factory reset my device and rooted it using rootjunky supertool
It rooted but when I opened SuperSU app it said su binary needs to be updated .I taped normal method since I didn't have any recovery but it always fails.
Coming back to the question, when I instead playstore using the same supertool again after resetting the same error I.e. couldn't establish a reliable connection was faced and this time creating new also did not work. It always says that the username isn't available.
Please tell me any solution to fix my google play sign in problem.
I have already tried to change the timezone thing and cleared data and cache a lot of times, reboot etc.
Since the SuperSU app also doesn't work properly so I don't even have root access.
My main motive behind all this is to play clash of clans and load my old village linked to my google account. If there is a way to do that without google services then please tell or tell a way that I can fix my play store.
It would also be really helpful if you also tell how to fix my SuperSU app.
I have fire os 5.1.1 and I have not flashed any custom ROMs till now and this is a brand new device as I got it a week before and I'm using it from India but my uncle purchased it in London via amazon .I don't thing that makes any difference....right?

Play Store There was a problem communicating with Google servers

I have an Amazon Fire 7" 5th Gen. I just got it this week. It's running Fire OS 5.1.2. I've tried using the super tool to install the Google Play Store and it won't let me login to my account. I even completely rooted the Fire and still couldn't sign in. I did a hard reset and sideloaded the 5.1.2 firmware from scratch and followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/installing-google-framework-playstore-t3216122 and still can't sign in. I've even sideloaded com.android.vending-5.9.12-80391200-minAPI9 and com.google.android.gms-7.0.97_(1791429-070)-7097070-minAPI9 manually and still can't sign in. I've checked both the host file (only has 127.0.0.1 localhost listed) and Iran the adb command giving com.google.android.gms permissions and still I can't login. I'm at a loss of things to try.
The tablet also keeps showing me the notification "An Application requires an update for Google, Requested by Google Play Services" and when I select that notification it takes me to the store and asks me to sign in which I can't do. Is there a newer version of one of the apps that I need to manually download and install?
Appears to be resolved
I appear to have resolved the issue.
I went to rootjunk's site and downloaded the ALL GAPPS package. I installed several of the GApps from that package including the PrebuiltGmsCore.apk. I then went through each Google app again and cleared the data and cache for each. Rebooted, and then I was finally able to add my google account and access the play store.
Not sure exactly why it was so screwy but at least it's working.

I've just managed to root a Kindle Fire 5th gen using Supertool however I'm having the same issue when trying to sign into the Play Store.
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff. Could you explain how you installed the GApps? I downloaded gapps-5.1-2015-05-23-24.zip from rootjunky but I'm not really sure where to go from there.
Would be a great help!
Thanks.

This worked for me. Amazon Fire 5th Gen 5.1.2 rolled back from 5.1.2.1.
Get root.
install flashfire.
download gapps-5.1-2015-05-23-24
flash zip using flashfire
delete data from google play services in manage apps from settings
reboot
login and its good.
note: it used to be the older login screen that was gray and blue and then after flashing it was the newer login screen from what looks like android 5.0?
Thankyou I'll give it a try now. I hope this works lol seems promising but ready to be declined again lol

Hey tried this solution. I installed the gapps. Than rebooted the device. When I start Play Store it only gives me a white screen for 1 second. Any solutions?
EDIT: Worked! Thank you so much!

I'm having the same problem but on a kindle fire hd 6 4th generation tablet... how do I fix this??

installing google on fire 7 5.3.1.0 (help)

i have read and read but cant seem to find it. i am trying to install google on my new fire tablet. i see that root is not needed and i have tried a few tools.
first tool was Amazon-Fire-5th-Gen-Install-Play-Store, says all installed but nothing.
then i tried AmazonFire5thGenSuperTool, get the following error [install_failed_Version_downgrade_]
i have manually gotten services framework, google accoount manager, and google store installed, but cant seem to find the correct google play services.
i have registered the device and it has children profiles on it, not sure if that matters. i am very new to the kindle. my first one
thanX in advance.
going to reset device as i just got it today.
ok so i got it to work. had to do a factory reset.
So my understanding is that once the device is registered, then the ads are reinstalled or the "special offers" are back on home screen.?
is this correct?

Fire 7 (2017, 7th Gen) Downgrade and Debloat

Ok, I have a friend who won a Fire 7 running FireOS 5.4.0.1 from a raffle and wanted a bit less Amazon and a bit more Google, so through reading various threads, the following is the best I could do for him:
1. Download and Install Amazon Kindle/Fire drivers from Amazon Dev site: https://s3.amazonaws.com/android-sdk-manager/redist/kindle_fire_usb_driver.zip
2. Download Fire 7th Generation OS 5.4.0.0 from https://fireos-tablet-src.s3.amazon...Uqo/update-kindle-55.5.7.9_user_579225620.bin
3. Download Updated Fire Utility (includes ADB + other tools): https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/amazon-fire-utility-tool-bloat-removal-t3641151
3. Boot into recovery (Volume Down + Power at the same time), then select update over ADB with volume + enter
4. Using Fire Utility adb, sideload 5.4.0.0 using the command "adb sideload update-kindle-55.5.7.9_user_579225620.bin"
5. Use Updated Fire Utility to Remove Amazon OTA, Remove Lockscreen ads, Remove Preloaded apps, and Install Google Services.
6. Optionally, also use Updated Fire Utility to Switch the Default Launcher to Nova Launcher.
Hopefully this will help someone new.
thanks, it will... but can I ask why you need to downgrade to 5.4.0.0 from 5.4.0.1 and isnt the Fire 7 on 5.6.0.0 now? Not got one but curious to know what I could do with one if I did get one...
EDIT: I see, the Fire Utility (debloat etc) only works on 5.4.0.0 ... and there is ONE report we can downgrade from 5.6.0.0 (not seen 5.6.0.1 report)

Typically, the earlier you can roll a device back to, the better chance of someone finding a vulnerability before it's patched by the developer. I wouldn't get your hopes up, for someone finding that vulnerability in 5.4.0.0 and up, but ya never know.
I just received my Fire 7 shipped with 5.4.0.0 in an orange box.
To do the first start with WLAN I put my mobile into Tethering with GSM only. Connected with the Phone via WLAN the login worked and I switched off the Tethering before the update was loaded and restarted the Fire -> My device is still on 5.4.0.0
May be this works for others as well. I now will try to run the top 5 and 6.
I'm wondering whether I can avoid a later update to a current version.
Is this for the HD8 (8" screen)? I just got it, trying to do it right BEFORE letting it connect to wifi... so dont even know my OS version.

Just to confirm, I've just done this on a 5.6.0.1 7th gen Fire (UK amazon bought) with no issues.
I'd already installed the google parts & linked my google account, & switched to Nova using Hijack, all which stayed after the downgrade (I didnt factory reset first). I did switch the internet access off on my router when I rebooted after the adb sideload downgrade step just in case it found an upgrade before I got the Fire Utility Tool connected to switch off OTA updates using that, which may be worth doing in all cases.
My Fire is now probably close to twice as fast as before now, staggering improvement.
I get unknown device KFAUWI when I connect a Fire 7 7th gen to a pc in recovery mode. ADB does not list the device. I also get unknown device MT65xx preloader when I connect in normal mode but is able to connect through adb.
Confirmed to work on US Fire 7 (7th-gen) w/5.6.0.0 as well!

ADDITIONAL USE CASE/CONFIRMATION: Just did this on a 5.6.0.0 7th-gen Fire 7 (US).
My only issue was that adb didn't "see" the device when it was in recovery mode (i.e. just before the adb sideload). The device self-identified as KFAUWI, and Windows 7 couldn't find a device driver for that ID. I went into Device Manager and manually applied the "Android Composite ADB Device" driver, and all was well from there on out.
Yes, the device seems almost twice as fast.
Many thanks!

I got hit by this as well.
If you're running Windows, you should be able to open Device Manager (with the device connected in recovery mode) and find the KFAUWI device - you can then manually apply the "Android Composite ADB Interface" driver.
Once I did this, I was able to follow the remaining instructions with no problems. (My device is a US Fire 7, 7th-gen, was running 5.6.0.0)
I was able to remove the ads for free, so I guess I no longer need to do this since this is not a jailbreak.

There's no need to to do it, but it dramatically improves the performance.
Gmail and Kindle Books app
Can anyone who has downgraded and debloated confirm that:
1) Can you reinstall the Kindle Book reader app from Google Play and get it to work?
Currently, on 5.6.0.0, if you let Google Play update the Amazon Kindle Book app, it quits working:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general/kindle-book-reader-force-closes-t3705821
2) Can you get Google Gmail (or the Google Inbox app) to work on it? Currently those apps fail on 5.6.0.0 (maybe due to Amazon blocking them vs not enough permissions):

Th kindle app is still there, I found it listed on es file Explorer but it on start, just hangs on 'syncing account'.
I'm sure there'd be a way to fix this (& the alexa app which also won't start at all), but I don't know it.
Gmail works fine once you manage to get it stay open long enough to get settings & disable 'auto download images in emails'.
The kindle & alexa app not working are annoying me, but this device was almost unusable before I debloated it so I'll live without them if I need to.

Both issues are likely a consequence of over aggressive "debloating". The processes doesn't actually uninstall apps/services; it neutralizes them while leaving the component installed. That effectively blocks any future updates/replacements regardless of source.
The solution is a factory reset followed by less aggressive debloating that leaves the Alexa and Kindle apps (plus any supporting services) alone.

Need some help please....
I am trying to run the utility on my Fire 7 Gen 7.
I was able to get the software rolled back to 5.4.0 successfully.
When I try to run anything in the utility, I get an error that "The system cannot find the path specified".
I saw the other posts regarding the driver and updating it.
I have tried several drivers since this did not work.
I deleted them all, then reinstalled the drivers in the link above.
I still get the same error.
Any suggestions?
I am fairly new to the Android world (I'm an iOS guy but have done plenty of programming and am used to working on command prompts, etc.).
I have searched and spent several hours on this now, so it's time to wave the white flag and ask for help.
Thanks!
Edit the batch file to put your path in. I did that. There are many ways to fix that. Or run from DOS prompt? Dunno all. Edit worked for me.

Unless Amazon reverted changes introduced in FireOS 5.4.0.1 the underlying command(s) used by the script to 'disable' system apps no longer work. To date I have only seen one claim of success on FireOS 5.6.0.1. The poster may have been referencing unprotected apps which would still be removed.
Installed it today successfully, thank you! Works like a charm

Cant install an updated apk

Wallpaper won't stay on nova launcher either. I'm at a loss. Could anyone please help as I'm at my wits end. Really just need this one apk to work. Thanks
